  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid sensor calibration scheme for mobile crowdsensing applications. As the number of newly produced mobile devices containing embedded sensors continues to rise, the potential to use mobile devices as a sensor data source increases. However, because mobile device sensors are generally of a lower performance and cost than dedicated sensors, sensor calibration is crucial. To enable more accurate measurements of natural phenomena through the use of mobile device sensors, we propose a hybrid sensor calibration scheme for such sensors; the scheme makes use of mobile device sensors and existing sensing infrastructure, such as weather stations, to obtain dense data. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme supports low mean square errors. As a practical application of our proposed scheme, we built a temperature map of a city using six mobile phone sensors and six reference sensors. Thanks to the mobility of the sensors and the proposed scheme, our map presents more detailed information than infrastructure-based measurements.

  • In this paper we use wireless sensor network and ultrasonic sensors to estimate local position of mobile robots, and to navigate it. Ultra sonic sensor is simple and accurate so it is good to use in local estimation and navigation of mobile robots. But to obtain accurate distance of two sensors they need to face each others as possible as they can. To solve this problem we rotate ultra sonic sensor which is attached to robot in 360 degrees and obtain accurate distance. We can estimate precise position of mobile robot by triangulation using obtained distance information. A mobile robot navigates using embedded encoder and compensates its coordinates by ultrasonic sensors. Results of Experiments show proposed method obtains accurate distance between sensors and coordinates of position of robot. And mobile robots can navigate designated path well.

  • The mobile robots to rescue a life in a disaster area and to explore planets demand high mobility as well as recognition of the environment. To avoid unknown obstacles exactly in unknown environment, accurate sensing is required. This paper proposes a sensor fusion to recognize unknown obstacles accurately by using low-cost sensors. Ultrasonic sensors and infrared sensors are used in this paper to avoid obstacles. If only one of these sensors is used alone, it is not useful fer the mobile robots to complete their tasks in the real world since the surrounding environment in the real world is complex and composed of many kinds of materials. So infrared sensor may not recognize transparent or reflective obstacles and ultrasonic sensor may not recognize narrow obstacles, far example, columns of small diameter. Therefore, I selected six ultrasonic sensors and five infrared sensors to detect obstacles. Then, I fused ultrasonic sensors with infrared sensors in order that both advantages and disadvantages of each sensor are utilized together. In fusing sensors, fuzzy algorithm is used to cope with the uncertainties of each sensor. TAMRY which is terrain-adaptive mobile robot is used as the mobile robot for experiments.

  • This paper proposes an effective algorithm for following a wall by an autonomous mobile robot with sonar sensors and infrared sensors in an indoor environment. The proposed method uses deadreckoning to estimate the current position and orientation of a mobile robot. Sonar sensor data are used to estimate shape and position of wall using proposed algorithm. Infrared sensor data are used as assistant when sonar sensor data is uncertain. Simulation results using mobile robot show that the proposed algorithm is proper for the following wall.

  • This study proposes a new approach to Control the Orientation and position based on obstacle avoidance technology by multi sensors fusion and autonomous travelling control of mobile robot system for implimentation of Smart FA. The important focus is to control mobile robot based on by the multiple sensor module for autonomous travelling and obstacle avoidance of proposed mobile robot system, and the multiple sensor module is consit with sonar sensors, psd sensors, color recognition sensors, and position recognition sensors. Especially, it is proposed two points for the real time implementation of autonomous travelling control of mobile robot in limited manufacturing environments. One is on the development of the travelling trajectory control algorithm which obtain accurate and fast in considering any constraints. such as uncertain nonlinear dynamic effects. The other is on the real time implementation of obstacle avoidance and autonomous travelling control of mobile robot based on multiple sensors. The reliability of this study has been illustrated by the computer simulation and experiments for autonomous travelling control and obstacle avoidance.

  • Mobile Sensor Network(MSN) is actively studied due to the advent of mobile sensors such as Robomote and Robotic Sensor Agents(RSAs), However, existing studies on MSN have mainly focused on coverage hole problem which occurs in Stationary Sensor Network(SSN). To address coverage hole problem, these studies make mobile sensors move temporarily so that they do not make the best use of the mobility of mobile sensors, Thus, a mechanism utilizing the continuous movement of mobile sensors is proposed to improve the network coverage performance. However, this mechanism is presently immature and does not explain how to make routing path and send data from mobile sensors to a sink node, Therefore, to efficiently make routing path and send data from mobile sensors to a sink node, we propose a communication protocol for mobile sensor network where mobile sensors continuously move. The proposed protocol deploys not only mobile sensors but also stationary sensors which send sensing data to a sink node instead of mobile sensors. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol improves the performance in terms of network coverage and traffic overhead, compared to conventional SSN protocols.

  • This paper describes a perception of small-obstacle using ultrasonic sensors in a mobile robot. The research on the avoidance of the large-obstacles such as a wall, a large box, etc. using ultrasonic sensors has been generally progressed up to now. But the mobile robot could meet a small-obstacle such as a small plastic bottle of about 1 l in quantity, a small box of 7${\times}$7${\times}$7 cm3 in volume, and so on in its designated path, and could be disturbed by them in the locomotion of the mobile robot. So, it is necessary to research on the avoidance of a small-obstacle. In this paper, the small-obstacle perceiving system was designed and fabricated by arranging four ultrasonic sensors on the plastic plate to avoid a small-obstacle. The small-obstacle perceiving system was installed on the above part of the mobile robot with the slope of 40.7$^{\circ}$ to a horizontal line. The static characteristic test and the dynamic characteristic test were performed to know the information of the used ultrasonic sensors. As a result, the mobile robot with the small-obstacle perceiving system could avoid a small-obstacle, and could move in indoor environment safely.

  • The capability of environment recognition is very important for mobile robot. Especially, a function of target tracking is necessary in monitoring and watching an object using mobile robot. In general, vision sensors such as CCD camera and laser range finder were used for tracking of a moving target. However, they are not only affected by intensity of illumination in environment but also require high performance processors to process large amount of data. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the construction of target tracking system for mobile robot using only ultrasonic sensors to cope with these problems.

  • This paper presents a simple sensor fusion algorithm using neural network for navigation of mobile robots with obstacle avoidance and trap recovery. The multiple sensors input sensor data to the input layer of neural network activating the input nodes. The multiple sensors used include optical encoders, ultrasonic sensors, infrared sensors, a magnetic compass sensor, and GPS sensors. The proposed sensor fusion algorithm is combined with the VFH(Vector Field Histogram) algorithm for obstacle avoidance and AGPM(Adaptive Goal Perturbation Method) which sets adaptive virtual goals to escape trap situations. The experiment results show that the proposed low-level fusion algorithm is effective for real-time navigation of mobile robot.

  • As autonomous mobile robot become more widely used in industry, the importance of navigation system is rising, But eh primary method of locomotion is with wheels, which cause man problems in controlling tracked mobile robots. In this paper, we discuss the used navigation control of tracked mobile robots with multiple sensors. The multiple sensors are composed of ultrasonic wave sensors and vision sensors. Vision sensors gauge distance using a laser and create visual images, to estimate robot position. The 80196 is used at close range and the vision board is used at long range. Data is managed in the main PC and management is distributed to ever sensor. The controller employs fuzzy logic.
