  • Mobile Ad hoc network is a self configuring network of mobile nodes. It allows mobile nodes to configure network spontaneously and share their services. In these networks, service discovery is very important because all nodes do not have same resources in term of memory and computing power. Nodes need to use different services offered by different servers. Some service discovery protocols have been proposed in last couple of years but they include significant traffic overhead and for small scale MANETS. In this paper, we present extensible lookup service scheme based on distributed mechanism. In our scheme neighboring nodes of service provider monitor service provider and send notification to lookup server when the service provider terminates its services unexpectedly. Lookup server can find other service provider or other alternative services in advance because of advance notification method and can provide consistent lookup services. In our scheme neighboring nodes also monitor lookup server and send notification to network when lookup server terminates unexpectedly. Simulation results show that our scheme can reduce up to 70% and 30% lookup failure as compare to centralize and simple distributed mechanism respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose a deployment and operation scheme of UxNB network toward mobile IAB. By operating a UxNB network based on SDN(Software Defined Network), UxNBs are deployed in areas where mobile communication services are desired. After deploying UxNB in the service area, IAB can be set up to perform mobile communication services. For this purpose, this paper first proposes a UxNB Network Controller consisting of a UAV Controller and an SDN Controller, and proposes the necessary functions. Next, we present a scenario in which a UxNB network can be deployed and operated in detail step by step. We also discuss the location of the UxNB network controller, how to deliver control commands from the UAV controller to the UxNB, how to apply IAB for UxNB networks, optimization of UxNB networks, RLF(radio link failure) recovery in UxNB networks, and future research on security in UxNB networks. It is expected that the proposed UxNB Network Controller architecture and UxNB network deployment and operation will enable seamless integration of UxNB networks into Mobile IAB.

  • WiBro network technologies developed mainly by Korea are one of very promising 4G technologies. WiBro has been standardized as international standard called Mobile WiMAX, and has been deployed in many countries. Emergency Services are infrastructural servicesa and very essential to induce subscribers from other types of networks. This paper propose a network architecture for supporting emergency services for mobile VoIP services in WiBro networks. The proposed architecture is based on WMF's architecture for internationa compatibilities, and reflects national considerations on interfacing PSAP for domestic compatibilities.

  • This paper proposes a SDN based Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) architecture for heterogeneous vehicular networks (SDN-VANET), to provide the continuity of service during the horizontal handovers and to reduce the delay during vertical and horizontal handovers. SDN-VANET mainly relies on DSRC road side units (RSUs) for V2I communication and to overcome the coverage problem SDN-VANET performs the vertical handover between DSRC and LTE/UMTS. To date there is no standard to perform network layer vertical handovers. Therefore the proposed SDN-VANET architecture also doesn't provide any mechanism for vertical network layer handovers, but solves the horizontal network layer handovers in DSRC or LTE/UMTS through introducing PMIPv6 in the architecture.

  • Device-to-device (D2D) communication is a potential solution to the incessant increase in data traffic on cellular networks. The greatest problem is how to control the interference between D2D users and cellular mobile users, and between D2D users themselves. This paper proposes a solution for this issue by putting the full control privilege in cellular network using the software-defined networking (SDN) concept. A software virtual switch called Open vSwitch and several components are integrated into mobile devices for data forwarding and radio resource mapping, whereas the control functions are executed in the cellular network via a SDN controller. This allows the network to assign radio resources for D2D communication directly, thus reducing interference. This solution also brings out many benefits, including resource efficiency, energy saving, topology flexibility, etc. The advantages and disadvantages of this architecture are analyzed by both a mathematical method and a simple implementation. The result shows that implementation of this solution in the next generation of cellular networks is feasible.

  • We propose a tree-based integrated network of infrastructure network and mobile ad hoc network to effectively support Mobile IP for mobile ad hoc networks and also proposed a network management protocol for formation and management of the integrated network and a tree-based routing protocol suitable for the integrated network. The integrated network has fixed gateways(IGs) that connect two hybrid networks and the mobile nodes in the network form a small sized trees based on the mobile nodes that are in the communication distance with a IG. A new node joins an arbitrary tree and is registered with its HA and FA along tree path. In addition, the proposed protocol establishes a route efficiently by using the tree information managed in every node. We examined the effectiveness of the tree-based integrated network for some possible network deployment scenarios and compared our routing protocol against the Mobile IP supported AODV protocol.

  • With the rapid growth of network traffic, a large number of connected devices, and higher application services, the traditional network is facing several challenges. In addition to improving the current network architecture and hardware specifications, effective resource management means the development trend of 5G. Although many existing potential technologies have been proposed to solve the some of 5G challenges, such as multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), software-defined networking (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), edge computing, millimeter-wave, etc., research studies in 5G continue to enrich its function and move toward B5G mobile networks. In this paper, focusing on the resource allocation issues of 5G core networks and radio access networks, we address the latest technological developments and discuss the current challenges for resource management in 5G.

  • Next-generation mobile communication systems evolve in the form of high speed data transmission along with integration of wired-wireless network. Therefore, it needs researches on integrating service to heterogeneous networks to offer high speed data transmission and various services while supporting user mobility. In existing studies, heterogeneous networks are linked to single core network separatively, Since vertical handoff between heterogeneous networks leads to some delay, packets may be lost during vertical handoff. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an hierarchically integrated network architecture considering the characteristics of CDMA2000, WiBro, and WLAN. The hierarchically integrated networks are overlaid according to coverage of each network. Therefore, the proposed architecture can minimize handoff delay and packet loss. In addition, this paper proposes an integrated framework for next generation mobile communication networks.

  • In recent wireless sensor networks, stationary nodes and mobile nodes co-exist to provide a diverse service. However, because there are multiple mobile nodes located in the wireless sensor network, there is a potential for the instability due to the frequent network reconfiguration and the traffic caused by densely concentration of mobile nodes while mobile nodes are switching locations. In order to solve this problem, we propose the pumping node architecture to solve this traffic congestion problem due to the crowds of mobile nodes. The pumping node can be reduced heavy traffic by pumping through the backbone network caused by the densely concentration of the mobile nodes. As a result, the architecture reduces the traffic in the sensor network with high reliability.

  • We propose a tree-based integration of infrastructure networks and MANETs (TUM) to efficiently extend the scope of mobile Internet protocol to mobile ad hoc networks and devise a tree-based routing protocol (TBRP) that is suitable for the TUM architecture. Infrastructure networks have a number of fixed Internet Gateways that connect two heterogeneous networks. Mobile nodes form a number of small trees named pMANETs, each of them growing from anchor node which can communicate directly with an Internet Gateway. A new node registers with foreign agent and home agent along the tree path without resorting to an inefficient flooding. Furthermore, the TBRP sets up a routing path efficiently by exploiting the tree information without relying on flooding. We show by resorting to simulation that our approach is competitive against the conventional AODV based approach.
