A Portable Head Up Display System with A Multi Windows for Vehicles (다중 화면으로 구성된 차량용 헤드업 디스플레이에 대한 연구)

  • A portable head up display (HUD) using the optical combiner lens with a 0.47inch LCD panel for a portable multi-windows virtual display is proposed. The proposed system consists of several micro panels, optical devices, and RGB 3in1 light-emitting diodes (LED) for making the full color display, and video and audio format for the high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) for the connecting between HUD and mobile phone. The multi-windows HUD is designed as an alternative to conventional built-in type HUD targeting the mass volume aftermarket at an affordable price.

A study on the Efficient Rate Control Scheme Based on Received Power Level for Mobile Multimedia Streaming System (무선 이동통신 망에서의 효과적인 영상 통신을 위한 전송 신호 세기 기반의 비트율 제어 방법 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient rate control scheme based on the received power level to overcome a quality degradation of video under time varying channel condition caused by the movement of mobile devices. First, we statistically obtain the relation between the PLR and the received power level. With this information and the sequences of received power level, we calculate the transition probability for the Markov Channel Model. Then, with using Markov chain rule, we obtain the probability where the channel condition remains in a good state and finally find the efficient target bit rate by multiplying it by the offered bandwidth when the network access has begun. We use TMN8 to adjust the bit rate to our proposed outcome. Experimental results show that the proposed method can efficiently enhance the video quality and provide better PSNR performance than with only using TMN8 rate control method.

  • A new compressed image format is proposed to use a large size of image in mobile games without the constraints of hardware specifications such as memory amount, processing power, which encodes each block of a large size image in scan line order. Using the experiments, we show the effectiveness of proposed method compared with a general PNG in terms of compression ratios and required memory in decoding processes. Also, the loading delay can be reduced by decoding only the displaying area of a large image in run-time.

  • At ubiquitous environment of the future, the platform that is mobile and suitable in such environment transmit and receive many data freely. In medical treatment field, medical device with advancement of the sensor and multimedia technique will develop as the household and hand-held device. So It will be developed as the health care device easily exchanging data to other devices and transmitting information of medical device to server. In this paper, currently the mobile platform based on the PXA255 such as a powerful microprocessor which connected the WLAN for guaranteeing a mobility and a speed transmits medical information to hospital server. It put an importance in providing the system for an efficient service.

  • The 4th Industrial Revolution, intelligent automobile application technology is evolving beyond the limit of the mobile device to a variety of application software and multi-media collective technology with big data-based AI(artificial intelligence) technology. with the recent commercialization of 5G mobile communication service, artificial intelligent automobile technology, which is a fusion of automobile and IT technology, is evolving into more intelligent automobile service technology, and each multimedia platform service and application developed in such distributed environment is being developed Accordingly, application software technology developed with a single system SoC of a portable terminal device through various service technologies is absolutely required. In this paper, smart device design for ontology design of intelligent automobile open platform enables to design intelligent automobile middleware software design technology such as Android based SVC Codec and real time video and graphics processing that is not expressed in single ASIC application software technology as SoC based application designWe have experimented in smart device environment through researches, and newly designed service functions of various terminal devices provided as open platforms and application solutions in SoC environment and applied standardized interface analysis technique and proved this experiment.

  • It may not be strange to anticipate that the forth-coming epoch of electronic government would bring us lots of convenience on account of ubiquitous environment with mobile devices. Such environment enables us to access the up-to-date information anytime and also a worker to carry out administration services to perform one's line of duty at anytime with electronic, handy devices such as PDA. What we now recognize from the field of electronic traffic administration services is that the office work flow as well as the public services has been remarkably improved by using of not only text but video and image information under the distributed, mobile environment. One of key requirements of this kinds of services is the feature of exchanging various information among multiple information publishers and subscribers. We call this feature Messaging Services generally The study in this paper focuses on the architecture design of the Messaging Engine software, complying with the pattern-oriented software architecture design methodology. And our contribution also goes to the discovery of three architecture patterns found in the design process and the efficient multi-threading architecture compared to one of the Messaging Engine solutions.

  • The appearance of Intelligent mobile and home appliance increased the using of not only various multimedia contents but also educational contents. Especially the growth of smart device such as smart phone, smart pad and smart TV, provided the environment which everyone can use educational content anytime, anywhere, any device. However many smart devices are hard to reuse the various educational contents because the devices and mobile os policies are not unify. In this paper, we suggest the design of NeS(N-Screen e-learning system) in order to solve this problem. NeS is consisted of User Management, Educational Content Management, Content Convert System and Interactive Management System. In this system, we use the HTML5 language to assure interoperability in various Smart Device Environment. Through NeS, we can achieve Content OSMU(One Source Multi Use) in various device environment and assure the continuity of the contents for using the educational contents more easily.

A Technique to Enhance Performance of Log-based Flash Memory File Systems (로그기반 플래시 메모리 파일 시스템 성능 향상 기법)

  • Flash memory adoption in the mobile devices is increasing or vanous multimedia services such as audio, videos, and games. Although the traditional research issues such as out-place update, garbage collection, and wear-leveling are important, the performance, memory usage, and fast mount issues of flash memory file system are becoming much more important than ever because flash memory capacity is rapidly increasing. In this paper, we address the problems of the existing log-based flash memory file systems analytically and propose an efficient log-based file system, which produces higher performance, less memory usage and mount time than the existing log-based file systems. Our ideas are applied to a well-known log-based flash memory file system (YAFFS2) and the performance tests are conducted by comparing our prototype with YAFFS2. The experimental results show that our prototype achieves higher performance, less system memory usage, and faster mounting than YAFFS2, which is better than JFFS2.

  • In this paper, we propose a motion picture processor for CSTN LCD. In order to eliminate flicker phenomenon, the proposed processor suggests a new driving scheme, SFP(Subgroup Frame Pattern). We use an input image compression methode from RGB(:8:8;8) to RGB(5:6:5) to improve quality of the image and apply the image to CSTN Module. The proposed hardware architecture has been implemented and verified using a FPGA on prototype board. The proposed Algorithm provide a lower computational complexity. Therefore the processor can be used in the display devices such as PDA, mobile phone and PMP(Portable Multimedia Player).

  • 모바일 장치 상에서 대용량 멀티미디어 컨텐츠에 대한 활용이 점차 증가 추세에 있으며, 또한 모바일 장치 내 저장용량의 제약을 극복할 수 있는 저전력 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 저장기법에 대한 개발이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제의 한 해결법으로 최근 차세대 스토리지로 각광받고 있는 객체기반 스토리지를 이용한 모바일 장치용 대용량 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 스토리지를 설계 및 구현한다. 제안된 객체기반 스토리지 입출력 구조는 MP3 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 이용한 성능 평가에서 기존 NFS에 비해서 전력소모 측면에서 약 9%의 향상을 보였다.
