  • In this paper, we present a design and an evaluation of a hand-held ball based haptic interface, named "TouchBall." Using a trackball mechanism, the device provides flexibility in terms of directional degrees of freedom. It also has an advantage of a direct transfer of force feedback through frictional touch (with high sensitivity), thus requiring only relatively small amount of inertia. This leads to a compact hand-held design appropriate for mobile and 3D interactive applications. The device is evaluated for the detection thresholds for directions of the force feedback and the perceived amount of directional force. The refined directionality information should combine with other modalities with less sensory conflict, enriching the user experience for a given application.

  • Since the advent of digital games, game of the core platform has been changed from the arcade to the mobile device. I consider that I try to seek the direction of the use of game which works for PC and mobile in comparison to analyze the changes in the game graphics. Effects of three types of game platforms on the game graphics, change depends on the game of the genre and game graphics. By reduction of the screen size, a new interface was appeared. However, as directly applying the PC version of the interface, it has brought about a user's inconvenience. I have found that mobile hardware development have not been affecting the game graphics. The common point of PC and mobile, they both have the limit of the platform which they own. There is a need to take into account the differences of graphically elements to use the player language interface.

  • The service industry has been acknowledged as a critical part of mobile banking services in recent years. This study examines the impact of e-service quality and loyalty on the intention to use and use behavior of mobile banking services in Mongolia, a Central Asian country. As a result, based on past research, a conceptual model was suggested. This study comprises 209 completed questionnaires from young Mongolians who own a bank account and a smartphone. The data was collected based on convenience sampling, and it was analyzed with SmartPLS software using a partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The findings indicate that system quality, interface design, and security assurance have a significant positive impact on service quality; service quality has a positive impact on loyalty. Moreover, the results reveal that service quality and loyalty have a significant influence on the intention to use mobile banking services. The findings of this study suggest that local or international banks and financial institutions in Mongolia should consider system quality, interface design, and security concerns as key successors to building perceived security quality to retain current mobile banking users and attract new customers.

  • The demand for mobile database applications has been rapidly increased with the growth of mobile users and the development of wireless Internet technology. But the productivity of mobile applications is low and it takes much time to manage the versions of applications because the user interface and query processing code of applications is manually written. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of the MobileGen that is a script generator for mobile database applications. The generated scripts enhance mobile application productivity by providing the code for operating with a database and processing user queries. Each script provides a corresponding deck that is a set of related cards as user interface. The MobileGen supports easy version management of generated applications and the MobileGen itself because it is based on the templates that are frameworks for scripts. Moreover, the MobileGen provides not only the interested entity but also the entities that are related directly and indirectly with the interested entity unlike the most commercial mobile script generators.

  • In this paper we develop an adaptive interface between video compression and transission protocols to handle QoS fluctuations that are common to mobile communication systems. We consider various generic design alternatives for QoS adaptation and identify 'QoS negotiation' as the most promissing. This method gives the best possibilities to obtain system-wide efficiency. To handle the indued system complexity we apply a design philosophy (called ARC) that separates implementation dependencies by introducing QoS interfaces between system modules. In the ARC phlosophy the implementation details are hidden in the subsystems. To assure efficient adaptation, the QoS must be negotiated between modules. We select the QoS parameters that are both necessary and sufficient for efficient negotiation between the video encoder and protocol modules. We describe the relation between the QoS parameters at the interface and the internal parameters of common video coding methods and protocol elements. Furthermore, we describe a negotiation procedure that allows a system-wide optimum to emerge.

  • An ubiquitous environment has been developed in order to allow users to use information more easily. These environments are based on advanced development of mobile ubiquitous hardwares. Currently, a various user interfaces are developed for mobile ubiquitous devices using the graphic or voice. In this paper, propose a specialized graphical user interface which is based on analysis of a user profile. This user interface can provides suitable interface for individual users using XML information on the small screen of mobile ubiquitous devices.

  • Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) is one of the air interface techniques proposed for the third generation (3G) mobile communication system. WCDMA was selected because it fulfills the IMT-2000 requirements for higher data rate trans mission, support of multimedia capabilities and other flexible services due to its variable bit rates and larger bandwidth, improved capacity and coverage, efficient power control and support for advanced and improved detector structures. Performance evaluation of 3G wireless network through simulation plays an important role in the design and implementation of the actual system, aiding the wireless system designer by providing them the necessary performance conformance statistics prior to implementation. In accordance with this goal, a simulator engine was developed entirely on a MATLAB platform to emulate the behaviour of the WCDMA air interface for both the uplink and downlink in a real world fading mobile environment. This paper discuss the development of the simulator along with a brief description of its functionalities and user interface. The WCDMA air interface mode focused in this paper is in accordance to the 3GPPs frequency division duplex (FDD) mode and restricted to the physical layer description. Performance results for the selected cases for the downlink, uplink, varying mobile velocity and sampling rates are also provided.

  • Little research has been performed regarding auditory icons even though auditory icons have great potentials as a strategy for creating informative, intuitively accessible, and unobtrusive interface. Therefore, this study was conducted to design new auditory icons through the iconic mapping for ten most frequently used mobile phone menus, and to show the usability of auditory icons. Two most familiar auditory sounds for each menu were collected and compared to the current button-pressing sound. The results show that the newly designed auditory icons had shorter recognition times, better satisfaction than the current icons. In other words, auditory icons could be an effective interface to provide a redundant feedback along with visual feedbacks in navigating mobile devices.
