A Moving Object Query Process System for Mobile Recommendation Service (모바일 추천 서비스를 위한 이동 객체 질의 처리 시스템)

  • Recently, much studies for providing mobile users with suitable and useful content services, LBS(Location Based Service) corresponding to the change of users' location, are actively going on. First and foremost, this is basically owing to the progress of location management technologies such as GPS, mobile communication technology and the spread of personal devices like PDA and the cellular phones. Besides, the research scope of LBS has been changed from vehicle tracking and navigation services to intelligent and personalized services considering the changing information of conditions or environment where the users' are located. For example, it inputs the information such as heavy traffic, pollution, and accidents. The query languages which effectively search the stored vehicle and environment information have been studied depending on the increase of the information utilization. However, most of existing moving object query languages are not enough to provide a recommendation service for a user, because they can not be tested and evaluated in real world and did not consider changed environment information. In order to retrieve not only a vehicle location and environment condition but also use them, we suggest a moving object query language for recommendation service and implement a moving object query process system for supporting a query language. It can process a nearest neighbor query for recommendation service which considers various attributes such as a vehicle's location and direction, environment information. It can be applied to location based service application which utilizes the recommended factors based on environmental conditions.

ACE-BIS: A Cost-Effective Bus Information System (ACE-BIS: 최적의 버스 노선을 선택하기 위한 비용 효율적인 알고리즘의 개발)

  • Due to the rapid development in mobile communication technologies, the usage of mobile devices such as cellular phones and PDAs becomes increasingly popular. One of the best ways to maximize the usability of mobile devices is to make them aware of their current locations and the locations of other fixed and mobile objects. In this paper, we propose a cost-effective Bus Information System, ACE-BIS, which utilizes a mobile device to retrieve the bus routes to reach a destination from the current location. To accomplish this task, ACE-BIS maintains a small amount of information on bus stops and bus routes in a mobile device and runs a heuristic routing algorithm based on such information. When a user asks more accurate route information or calls for a 'leave later query', ACE-BIS entrusts the task to a server into which real-time traffic and bus location information is being collected. By separating the roles into a mobile device and a server, ACE-BIS is able to provide bus routes at the lowest cost for wireless communications, without imposing much burden to a server. The results of extensive experiments revealed that ACE-BIS is effective and scalable in most experimental settings.

  • In this paper, we design and implement the contents transferring the location information between a customer and a proxy driver by utilizing 'WIPI.' Customers are able to request a call-service through a client in order to call a proxy driver. And, once a proxy driver who is most adjacent to the customer accepts the order of a call-service from him or her through a location-management server using the concepts of LBS and GPS, 'WIPI' sends the information about the location of the customer to the driver, and also sends information to the custome by calculating the distance from the driver to the customer. This content was modeled based on how information is transferred between a customer and a proxy driver under the mobile circumstance, and also a server and a client, made up from JAVA, were modeled by using SKT emulator.

  • In case that limited resources can be mobilized, non-structural countermeasures such as 'monitoring using Information and Communication Technology might be one of solutions to mitigate disaster risks. Having established the monitoring system, operational and maintenance costs to maximize the effectiveness might trouble the authority concerned or duty attendant who is in charge. In this respect, "Guerrilla Sensor" would be very cost effective because of the inherent mobility characteristic. The sensor device with the IRIS camera and GPS (Global Positioning System) equipped, is basically battery-operated and communicates with WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access). It has a strong advantage of capabilities for 'Disaster Response' with immediate and prompt action on the spot, making the best use of IoT (Internet of Things), especially with the mobile web. This paper will explain how the sensor system works in real-time GIS (Geographic Information System) pinpointing the exact location of the abnormal movement/ground displacement and notifying the registered users via SMS (Short Message Service). Real time monitoring with early warning and evaluation of current situations with LBS (Location Based Service), live image and data information can help to reduce the disaster impact. Installation of Guerrilla sensor for a real site application at Gimcheon, South Korea is also reported.

Study on Small Vessel′s Pseudo-AIS Interoperable with Universal AIS

  • Universal AIS, which has been adopted officially for automatic identification systems among regulated ships by SOLAS, should be installed, for example, on all passenger ships over 300 tons engaged in international voyage and over 500 tons in domestic voyage, sequentially from 2002 to 2004. We must not overlook the fact than-ruled regions by regional authorities in the case of VTS. Actually a major portion of accidents have happened in small vessels like fishing vessels. However, they are not equipped with automatic identification tools, due to the high costs of the equipment for identifying purposes, as well as the absence of regulation In this paper, we researched the alternative of automatic identification for small vessel instead of universal AIS. We analyzed the requirement of automatic identification for small vessel about wireless communication method, traffic volume, etc. We proposed the identification system for small vessels in local areas and developed the Local Vessel Identification System (LVIS) interoperable with universal AIS using a PDA platform and wireless network.

  • Natural User Interface(NUI) technologies introduce new trends in using devices such as computer and any other electronic devices. In this paper, an augmented reality on a mobile device is implemented by using face detection, recognition and motion tracking. The face detection is obtained by using Viola-Jones algorithm from the images of the front camera. The Eigenface algorithm is employed for face recognition and face motion tracking. The augmented reality is implemented by overlapping the rear camera image and GPS, accelerator sensors' data with the 3D graphic object which is correspond with the recognized face. The algorithms and methods are limited by the mobile device specification such as processing ability and main memory capacity.

  • 사회구조가 고도화됨에 따라서 사용자들은 크고 복잡한 환경에 노출되고 있다. 이러한 환경은 사용자들이 자신의 위치가 어디인지를 인식하게 어렵게 하고 있다. 그에 따라서 사용자에게 지도나 키오스크 시스템[1]과 같은 위치 안내 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 하지만 이런 서비스는 2D 기반의 안내를 하기 때문에 사용자가 직관적, 공간적으로 자신의 위치를 파악하기란 어렵다. 직접 시스템에 찾아가야 서비스를 사용할 수 있으며, 서비스의 제공이 지속적이지 않고, 순간적이라는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 이동하면서 자신이 찾고자 하는 위치에 대한 안내를 3D 가상현실 기반의 위치 안내를 받을 수 있는 모바일 PC를 위한 위치 기반 서비스(Location Based Service)를 제공한다. 제안하는 시스템은 사용자의 현재의 위치를 인식하기 위해서 모바일 PC에 GPS와 RFID태그를 이용한다. 이를 실내외 공간에서의 위치를 인식을 하게 되며, 사용자의 현재 위치에서 자신이 가고자 하는 목표장소에 대한 최단 경로를 알려 준다. 뿐만 아니라 여러 장소를 방문하는 경우, 미리 만든 스케쥴에 따라서 위치 안내 서비스를 받을 수 있다. 제안하는 시스템은 사용자가 전시장, 병원, 관공서 등의 건물에서 원하는 위치를 자신이 있는 위치에서 편하고 간편하게 찾아 줄 수 있으며, 부가적으로 다양한 위치 기반 서비스들이 적용 가능하다.

Development of Mobile Robot for Rough Terrain (야지 주행을 위한 견마형 로봇 개발)

  • In this work, we present the development of a patrol robot which is intended to navigate outdoor rough terrain. Proposed mechanism consists of six legs for overcoming an obstacle, and six wheels for traveling. Also, in order to absorb vibration in rough terrain effectively, the slide-spring system and tubed type tire are adopted to each leg and each wheel. The control system of robot consists of several imbedded boards for management of lots of diverse devices such as sensors designed for rough terrain, motor controllers, camera, micro controller and so on. And the base system of the robot is designed to operate in real time and to surveille in the vicinity of the robot, and the robot system is controlled by wireless LAN connected to GUI-based remote control system, while CAN communication connects the control board and the device controllers for sensors and motor controllers. For operating this robot system efficiently, we propose the control algorithms for autonomous navigation using GPS, stabilization maintenance by posture control, obstacle-avoidance by impedance control, and obstacle-overcoming with interference-avoidance between wheels. The performance of the robot and the proposed algorithms are tested and proved by a set of experiments in outdoor rough terrain.

  • In this study, it is the study of foreign tourism content information providing utilizing mobile indoor location information services. In particular, we compared the Web App used in Osaka, Japan. Widespread use of smartphones in the world increases, it is changed to free travel of individuals from group travel. Tourists cultural complex shopping mall is able to travel in a room is increasing. By utilizing the services of the guidance location based on the room, it is possible to easily obtain the discount coupon information, tourism content. Also, it is possible to grasp the movement path and disaster relief information. Osaka Japanese tourists increased after the earthquake in Tokyo. So we compare the difference in Osaka web and applications. If improving the indoor location information service method of domestic if it would help foreign tourists attract. In addition, it will give a big impact if there is a fusion of the Internet of things.

  • 빠른 속도로 확산되고 있는 모바일 기기는 카메라, GPS, RFID 등과 같은 다양한 센서를 장착하고 Wi-Fi, WiMAX, WiBro 등의 무선 네트워크를 지원하는 형태로 발전하고 있다. 이러한 발전으로 사용자는 언제 어디서나 주변의 컴퓨팅 자원을 이용할 수 있게 되었고 모바일 기기의 서비스는 주변의 센서 또는 임베디드 컴퓨팅 장치로부터 수집되는 다양한 주변 환경 정보와 시스템 상태정보, 네트워크 상황정보 등의 디지털 정보를 이용하여 주변상황인식(context awareness)이 가능한 스마트 서비스로 발전하고 있다. 주변상황인식을 위하여 서비스는 주변에 존재하는 다양한 장치를 효율적으로 검색하고 이질적인(Heterogeneous) 장치와 정보의 표현 및 전송에 대한 호환성이 필요하다. 이러한 문제는 규격화된 프레임워크의 사용으로 해결할 수 있으며 상황정보의 관리 기능을 추가하여 서비스 개발의 생산성을 높일 수 있다 본 논문에서는 모바일 컴퓨팅 환경에서 상황정보의 제공과 사용에 적합한 프레임워크로서 MoCE(Mobile Context Exploerer) 아키텍처를 설계하였다. MoCE 는 상황정보의 수집, 변환, 분류, 통합 등의 기능을 제공하고 모바일 환경의 특성에 기인한 상황정보 발견 및 전송 프로토콜을 설계하여 사용하고 있다. 또한 Surround multiCam 서비스 예제를 구현하여 제안한 아키텍처의 안정성 및 성능을 실험하였다.
