Development of a mobile-based self-management health alarm program for obese children in South Korea and a test of its feasibility for metabolic outcomes: A study based on the information-motivation-behavioral skills model

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a mobile-based self-management health alarm (MSHA) program for modifying obese children's lifestyle based on the information-motivation-behavioral skills (IMB) model and to test its feasibility. Methods: A methodological study for the development of the MSHA program and pilot study with a one-group pretest-posttest design for feasibility testing was conducted. The MSHA program was designed to provide obesity-related information (I), monitor daily diet and exercise, provide motivational text messages (M), and enhance healthy diet and exercise skills (B) via a mobile-based web platform. In the feasibility test, six obese children participated in the 4-week program, and the number of days per week that they achieved their goals and differences in metabolic components were assessed. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: Participants successfully achieved their diet and exercise goals≥5 days per week. Body mass index (z=-1.99, p=.046), waist circumference (z=-2.20, p=.028), and triglyceride levels (z=-2.21, p=.027) significantly decreased. Conclusion: The MSHA program showed positive effects on health behaviors and metabolic syndrome risk. The program may be effective in improving metabolic syndrome in obese children by promoting self-health management behaviors.

  • Modem Industrial control systems tend to adopt a variety of intelligent wireless device controllers to interface front-end computers with active components of the industrial device. Some of the intelligent control systems come equipped with a wireless SMS(Simple Message Service) interface giving an opportunity to use fault alarm Interlock system. Immediately send warning or alert messages to Mobile devices or remote users. Real time monitoring the SMS systems by Mobile devices. Control systems remotely by mobile devices in emergency situation. In order to provide against system fault, SMS Mobile System will enable system administrator to promptly access, monitor and control the system whenever users want and wherever users are, by utilizing wireless Internet and mobile devices. This paper presents the Mobile SMS system for PAL Control System.

  • Concurrent with the more widespread usage of smart devices, mobile users' desires are becoming much more complex. Most IT experts insist that smart devices should have additional functions to satisfy these requirements. In particular, research has concentrated on LBS (Locationbased Service), because it is considered one of the most common mobile service types. Generally, Wi-Fi has a critical limitation for use for LBS services, because it requires new network connection points whenever its location (Network Zone) changes. Unfortunately, GPS also has a systematic problem in providing LBS service in the indoor environment, because of its inaccuracy in processing data. So, to redress these limitations, iBeacon technology has been designed, and is currently used for LBS service instead of Wi-Fi or GPS. By using iBeacon, which is based on Bluetooth 4.0 LE technology, we propose a M-SAS (Mobile-Subway-Alarm-Service System) that could accurately and timely provide its users with various mLBS (micro LBS) services, such as current user location, and subway arrival time.

  • $21^{st}$ century is digitally civilized era. Technologies such as AI, Iot, Big Data, Mobile and etc makes this era digitally advanced. These advancement of the technology greatly impacted detection range of the radar. Human's eye sight can see about 20Km and hear 20 ~ 20000 Hz. These limitations can be overcome using radar. This radar technology is used in military, aircraft, ship, vehicle and etc. to replace human eye. However, radar technology is capable of making False Alarm Rate. This document will propose the fix of these problems. Radar's distortion includes beam refraction, diffraction and reflection. These inaccurate data result in deterioration of human judgements and my cause various casualties and damages. Radar goes through annual testing to test how many false alarm is being produced. Normal radar usually makes 10 to 20 False alarms. In emergency situation, if operator were to follow this false alarm, this might result in following false object or take 12 more seconds to follow the right object. This problem can be overcome by using different radar data from different places and angles. This helps reduces False Alarm rate and track the object twice as fast.

  • In this paper, a fast pseudo-noise (PN) code acquisition with novel adaptive architecture is presented in direct-sequence spread- spectrum (DS-SS) systems. Since an existing acquisition system has a fixed correlation tap size and threshold value, this system cannot adapt to various mobile communication environments and results in a low detection probability or a high false alarm rate and long acquisition time. Therefore, if a correlation tap size and a threshold value can be controlled adaptively according to received signals, problems of ail existing system will be solved. The system parameter varies adaptively by using constant false alarm rate (CFAR) algorithm well known in a field of detection and proposed signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) measurement system. By deriving formulas of the proposed system, the performance is analyzed.

  • This paper proposes an open-phase fault control system using 3-phase neutral voltage. The proposed control system is designed as a new topology which uses the potential difference between neutral point and ground(G) of three phase. And the open-phase detection system is configured to Y-wiring of three capacitance devices of the same capacity to each line of three phase power source R-S-T. This paper also designs a mobile phone application for remote alarm of open-phase fault.

  • In this paper, we propose the new eye detection method by using adaboost (adaptive boosting) method. Also, to reduce the false alarm rate which identifies the non-eye region as genuine eye that is the Problems of previous method using conventional adaboost, we proposed the post processing methods which used the cornea specular reflection and determined the optimized ratio of eye detecting box. Based on detected eye region by using adaboost, we performed the double circular edge detector for localizing a pupil and an iris region at the same time. Experimental results showed that the accuracy of eye detection was about 98% and the processing time was less than 1 second in mobile device.

  • In this paper, we are considered Nakagami-m fading, which can model variable multipath mobile radio communication channel, in DS-CDMA system. System modeling using nakagami -m fading is suited for urban mobile communication channel with multipath. We used adaptive serial search PN code acquisition scheme and derived the detection probability($P_D$) and false alarm probability($P_FA$) which have influence on code acquisition time, over Nakagami-m fading. Detection probability($P_D$) and false alarm probability($P_FA$) are detection variable to decide PN code acquisition time and should use to calculate mean and variance. of acquisition time. From computer simulation, we analyzed mean and variance about PN code acquisition of fading channel. Then we can apply it to the H/W design of mobile communication.

The Effects of Auto-mobile Tinting upon Driver's Responses (자동차 창유리의 가시광선 투과율에 따른 운전반응의 정확도)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of auto-mobile tinting upon driver's cognitive responses and behaviors through two laboratory experiments, a field experiment and a traffic accident data. The results of two laboratory experiments showed that there were higher false alarm responses under the conditions of 65%, 50%, 35% tinting level than thoses under the 100% level condition. It was also shown that the drivers who had bad sight made more missing responses than the drivers who had normal vision. The main results of the laboratory experiment were repliceted through both the field experiment and the survey research of car accidents. The results of this study were discussed in terms of the previous studies performed abroad. We strongly suggested 70% tinting level as a regulation standard for safe driving and the strategies for implementing the regulation rule.
