Ion-exchange porous glasses were prepared by heat treatment and subsequently hydro thermalor acid leaching treatment $10Li_2O$.$(90-x)B_2O_3$.$xSiO_2$ base glasses containing various amount of $Al_2O_3$ or $MoO_3$. It was investigated how the phase separation and the cation exchange capacity(CEC) were affected by the addition of $Al_2O_3$ or $MoO_3$. The optimum condition of phase separation in these glasses was about 48$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 hrs. The degree of phase separation was rapidly suppressed by the addition of $Al_2O_3$ up to 10 mol% and thereafter suppression effect was decreased. The maximum value of CEC, about 252meq/100g, was observed with the $1OLi_2O$.$45B_2O_3$.$45SiO_2+7.5Al_2O_3$ porous glass prepared by hydrothermal treatment and its mean pore radius was about 16.3A. The addition of $MoO_3$ accelerated phase separation and leaching rate. Looking at the remakable increment of pore diameter and pore volume of these porous glasses by the addition of $MoO_3$, the effect of $MoO_3$ may be ascribed to the lowering of silica concentration in the borate phase and to the forming of water-soluble complex with silica during the leaching treatment.
The composition and semiconducting properties of the passive films formed on Ni- (15, 30)Cr-5Mo alloys in pH 8.5 buffer solution were examined. The depth concentration profile of passive films formed on Ni-(15, 30)Cr-5Mo in pH 8.5 buffer solution showed that Mo enhances the enrichment of Cr. The Mott-Schottky plot for the passive film on Ni-(15, 30)Cr- 5Mo closely resembled that for the film on Cr, whereas those for the less Cr-enriched film on Mo-free alloys showed similar behavior to that for the film on Ni. The acceptor density was reduced by increasing Cr content in Ni-(15, 30)Cr-(0, 5)Mo alloys, but addition of Mo considerably increased the acceptor density.

Cutting performance and wear behavior were studied with the diamond micro-blade of Cu/Sn bond materials containing various amount of lubricant materials such as graphite and $MoS_2$. Measurement of instantaneous electric power consumption for cutting glass workpiece at the constant velocity was conducted and proposed as a method to assess cutting efficiency. The energy consumption of micro-blade for glass cutting decreased with the content of graphite and $MoS_2$ while wear amount of blade in volume increased with the amount of lubricant addition during the dicing test. It is because that hardness, flexural strength, and fracture toughness ($K_{IC}$) reduced with the amount of lubricant addition. Blades with $MoS_2$ additive showed higher mechanical properties than those with graphite additives when the same amount of the lubricant additive in wt.% was added. Due to the lower density of graphite than $MoS_2$, higher volume fraction of graphite could result in stronger effect on lowering electric power consumption by reducing the friction between blade and work piece however increasing wear rate due to the reduction in strength and fracture toughness. Adhesive wearing mode of micro blade could be remarkably improved by the addition of graphite as well as $MoS_2$.
A lean alloy is defined as a low alloy steel that minimizes the content of the alloying elements, while maintaining the characteristics of the sintered alloy. The purpose of this study is to determine the change in microstructure and mechanical properties due to the addition of silicon or tin in Fe-Mo-P, Fe-Mn-P, and Fe-Mo-Mn-P alloys. Silicon- or tin-added F-Mo-P, Fe-Mn-P, and Fe-Mo-Mn-P master alloys were compacted at 700 MPa and subsequently sintered under a $H_2-N_2$ atmosphere at $1120^{\circ}C$. The sintered density of three alloy systems decreases under the same compacting pressure due to dimensional expansion with increasing Si content. As the diffusion rate in the Fe-P-Mo system is higher than that in the Fe-P-Mn system, the decrease in the sintered density is the largest in the Fe-P-Mn system. The sintered density of Sn added alloys does not change with the increasing Sn content due to the effect of non-dimensional changes. However, the effect of Si addition on the transverse rupture strengthening enhancement is stronger than that of Sn addition in these lean alloys.

[ $MoS_2S$ ] is a well-known metal sulfide applied as solid lubricants and an additive to prolong the life of sintered bearings under severe conditions. However, the high price of $MoS_2S$ limited its wide application. This study is aimed to investigated the possibility for application to solid lubricants for $Cu_2S$ as a substitute of v. Bronzes added $Cu_2S$ and $MoS_2S$ are produced by powder metallurgy in this study, and then evaluated their friction and wear properties. The sliding wear test using pin-on-disc type machine, was conducted at several sliding speeds for three type test pieces, bronze and bronzes added $Cu_2S/MoS_2$. Addition of $Cu_2S$ to bronze leads to relatively good friction and wear properties, although it is not so good as addition of $MoS_2S$. But the properties of bronze added $Cu_2S/MoS_2$ would be not suitable for the condition under the high sliding speed.
Mechanical alloying using high-energy ball mill and subsequent spark plasma sintering (SPS) process was applied to Al-Fe-Cr and Al-Fe-Mo powder mixture to investigate effects of Cr and Mo addition on thermal stability of Al-Fe, and thereby to enhance its thermal stability up to $500^{\circC}$. Various analytical techniques including micro-Vickers hardness test, SEM, TEM, X-ray diffractometry and corrosion test were carried out. It was found that addition of Cr and Mo to Al-Fe system played a role of grain growth inhibitor of matrix Al and some precipitates such as $Al_3Fe$ during SPS and subsequent heat treatment. The inhibition of grain growth resulted in increased Vickers hardness and thermal stability up to $500^{\circC}$ comparing to those of Al-Fe alloy system.

A high-energy mechanical milling (HEMM) process was introduced to improve sinter-ability, and rapid sintering of spark plasma sintering (SPS) under pressure was used to make ultra fine grain (UFG) of Ti-Nb-Mo-CPP composites, which have bio-attractive elements, for increasing mechanical properties. Ti-Nb-Mo-CPP composites were successfully fabricated by SPS at $1000^{\circ}C$ within 5 minutes under 70 MPa using HEMMed powders. The Vickers hardness of the composites increased with increased milling time and addition of CPP contents. Biocompatibility and corrosion resistance of the Ti-Nb-Mo alloys were improved by addition of CPP, and the Ti-35%Nb-10%Mo-10%CPP alloy had better biocompatibility and corrosion resistance than the Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy.
Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have attracted much attention because of their excellent optical and electrical properties, which are the applications of next generation photoelectric devices. In this study, $MoS_2$, which is a representative material of TMDs, was formed by magnetic sputtering method and surface changes and optical characteristics were changed with thickness variation. In addition, by implementing the photodetector of $MoS_2/p-Si$ structure, it was confirmed that the change of the electrical properties rather than the change of the optical properties according to the thickness change of $MoS_2$ affects the photoresponse ratio of the photodetector. This result can be used to fabricate effective photoelectric devices using $MoS_2$.

Two dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) semiconductors are attractive materials for optoelectric devices because of their direct energy bandgap and transparency. To investigate the feasibility of transparent p-n junctions, we have fabricated a p-n heterojunction consisting of p-type WSe2 and n-type MoS2 flakes since WSe2 and MoS2 with proper electrode metals exhibit p-type and n-type behaviors, respectively. These heterojunctions exhibits gate-tunable rectifying behaviors and photovoltaic effects (ECE ~ 0.2%) indicating that p-n junctions were formed. In addition, photocurrent and photovoltaic effects were observed under light illumination, which were dependent on the gate voltage. In addition, the photocurrent mapping images indicate that the photovoltaic effects comes from the junction area. Possible origins of gate-tunability are discussed.
