메밀 추출물의 이상 침전 개선 효과에 관한 연구 (Study on Prevention Method of Abnormal Precipitation in Buckwheat Extracts)

  • The aim of this study was to identify the onuses of abnormal precipitation in buckwheat extracts and to suggest the preventive solutions. Abnormal precipitation was formed by the coagulations of small round droplets, and increased when poor quality or old buckwheat used. It was found that, unlike poor quality buckwheat, extracts made from fresh buckwheat showed almost no saccharifying enzyme activity and a lower number of microorganisms. The addition of branched starch to the extracts restricted the occurrence of abnormal precipitation and microorganisms and imparted stability to the extracts.

  • Multi-channel artificial reverberation algorithm to control perceived direction and distance is described in this paper. In conventional algorithms using IIR filters, reverberation time is the only parameter to be controlled. Moreover, since the convolution-based conventional algorithms apply only same impulse responses, but not considering sound localization, it was not realistic enough. The new algorithm proposed in this paper utilizes early reflections segmented according to the azimuth from which direct sound comes and controls perceived direction by panning the direct sound, and controls perceived distance by adjusting Energy Decay Curve (EDC) of reverberation and gain of the direct sound. In addition, the algorithm enhances Listener Envelopment(LEV) to make late reverberation incoherent among channels.

Dark-field Transmission Electron Microscopy Imaging Technique to Visualize the Local Structure of Two-dimensional Material; Graphene

  • Dark field (DF) transmission electron microscopy image has become a popular characterization method for two-dimensional material, graphene, since it can visualize grain structure and multilayer islands, and further provide structural information such as crystal orientation relations, defects, etc. unlike other imaging tools. Here we present microstructure of graphene, particularly, using DF imaging. High-angle grain boundary formation wass observed in heat-treated chemical vapor deposition-grown graphene on the Si substrate using patch-quilted DF imaging processing, which is supposed to occur by strain around multilayer islands. Upon the crystal orientation between layers the multilayer islands were categorized into the oriented one and the twisted one, and their local structure were compared. In addition information from each diffraction spot in selected area diffraction pattern was summarized.

  • We have developed the five mask $PMOS^1$ and the six mask CMOS process architecture for poly-Si TFT. In order to have a competitive process with that for a-Si TFT, the simple co-planar electrode structure whose data line electrode and pixel electrode are on the same plane was adopted. In addition, RGB + White four color $technology^2$ were applied to achieve high aperture ratio and transmittance. Using the aforementioned process architecture and four color technology, 2.0 inch qCIF transmissive micro-reflectance (TMR) device was successfully fabricated.

  • Effect of V addition on the precipitation behavior and strength of Fe-36Ni based high strength Invar alloy for power transmission wire was investigated. Fe-36Ni Invar alloy plates were fabricated using conventional ingot casting followed by hot rolling. High strength can be obtained through precipitation hardening and strain hardening by cold rolling. Simulation using FactSage$^{(R)}$ revealed that equilibrium phases which can be formed are two kinds of MC-type precipitates, $Mo_{2}C$ and $M_{23}C_6$ carbide. The latter stoichiometric carbide was expected to be formed at relatively lower temperature of $800^{\circ}C$.

  • Generally, when servo system is used, various sensors are required to have comparison and compensation to the reference value. However, the sensors are relatively expensive, and cannot be always implemented because of the limit of space or the environmental conditions. In this paper, state observer systems without sensors are investigated. State observer systems are required to estimate the states quickly and exactly without being affected by the disturbances. Thus, in this paper, the effects of systems poles and observer poles are studies. In addition, the parameter variations are also considered to evaluate the effect of them to the observer based systems. Also, in this paper a whole system which includes compensators, observers and loads are considered and analysed by using numerical simulations.

녹색 레이저 발진용 NYAB 단결정 성장 (Growth of Nd : YAl3(BO3)4 Single Crystal for Green Laser)

  • Nd : YAl3(BO3)4 (NYAB) single crystal has been developed for green laser. In this experiment, we found K2O/3MoO3/0.5B2O3 to be a suitable flux for NYAB crystal growth, and grew NYAB crystal by TSSG method using this flux. By varying the cooling rate of solution, seed orientation, and rotation speed, the effects of these growth conditions on the crystal quality and its morphology were examined. Suitable growth conditiions were a cooling rate slower than 2.4$^{\circ}C$/day, the rotation speed of 25~30 rpm, and the <001> seed orienttion. The phases of grown crystal, coexisting and volatile materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction. In addition, the possiblity of laser action was examined by UV analysis.

  • This paper describes a new algorithm for encoding spectral envelope in the time domain alias cancellation (TDAC) part of G.729.1. The spectral envelope and modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) coefficients of the weighted code-excited linear predictive (CELP) coding error in lower-band and the higher-band input signal are encoded in the TDAC part. In order to reduce allocation bits for spectral envelope coding, a new algorithm using sub-band correlation between adjacent frames is proposed. In addition, to improve the quality of decoded signals, two bit allocation strategies using reduced bits from the proposed algorithm are proposed. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of objective quality and bit reduction rates. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm increases the quality of sounds significantly.

Action of Dopamine as Inhibitory Neuromodulator in Jellyfish Synapse

  • Dopamine (DA) acts on swimming motor neurons (SMNs) of Polyorchis penicillatus as an inhibitory neurotransmitter by hyperpolarizing their membrane potentials, which results from the activation of voltagesensitive potassium channels mediated through a $D_2-type$ receptor. In addition, DA, and not the hyperpolarized membrane potential, directly decreased the input resistance of SMNs by ca. 50% from 1.42 to 0.68 $G{\Omega}$. It strongly indicates that DA can shunt other excitatory synaptic signals onto SMNs where DA usually elicited much greater responses in their neurites than soma. All these evidences suggest that DA may operate in this primitive nervous system in dual modes as an inhibitory neurotransmitter and neuromodulator as well.

Dopamine as a Strong Candidate for a Neurotransmitter in a Hydrozoan Jellyfish

  • Recent studies have shown that dopamine applied to cultured swimming motor neurons of Polyorchis penicillatus produces an inhibitory action by opening potassium channels through $D_2$-like receptors. In this study, it was demonstrated that dopamine found in the hydromedusa was not from exogenous sources and the content of dopamine depended on the $Ca^{2+}$ content of the dissecting media. In addition, a combination of thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography showed the presence of DOPA and DO PAC-like compounds in the jellyfish. The glyoxylic acid method for catecholamines suggested that a population of small cells, neither swimming motor neurons nor B-like neurons, had dopaminergic systems. From all these results, it is suggested here that DA synthesized from DOPA in some cells is released. being dependent on calcium concentrations, into a synaptic cleft and degraded into DOPAC after acting as an inhibitory transmitter to swimming motor neurons.
