Handover Management Based on Loca-tion Based Services in F-HMIPv6 Net-works

  • In this paper, a new mathematical scheme of Macro Handover Management (MHM) in F-HMIPv6 networks based on Location Based Services (LBS) is proposed. Previous schemes based on F-HMIPv6 protocol usually suffer from three major drawbacks: First, They don't exploit the information about the user mobility behavior in order to reduce handover effects. Second, they only focus on the micro mobility level. Third, they don't consider the quality of service (QoS) of the traffic. The proposed MHM scheme avoids these drawbacks using the available information about Mobile Node (MN) such as user mobility patterns and MN's velocity to predict handover and improve network's QoS. It also takes the traffic type in consideration since it presents a major factor in locating QoS for the user. MHM is analyzed and compared with the F-HMIPv6. The results show that MHM improves the performance in terms of packet delivery cost, location update cost, and handover latency. The design of MHM comprises software package in the MN in addition to a hardware part in the network side. It has implications for communication, design, and pricing of mobile services.

Ferromagnetism and p-type Conductivity in Laser-deposited (Zn,Mn)O Thin Films Codoped by Mg and P

  • We report on the observation of p-type conductivity and ferromagnetism in diluted magnetic semiconductor $(Zn_{0.97}Mg_{0.01}Mn_{0.02})O:P$ films grown on $SiO_2/Si$ substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The p-type conduction with hole concentration over $10^{18}cm^{-3}$ is obtained by codoping of Mg and P followed by rapid thermal annealing in an $O_2$ atmosphere. Structural and compositional analyses for the p-type $(Zn_{0.97}Mg_{0.01}Mn_{0.02})O:P$ films annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ indicates that highly c-axis oriented homogeneous films were grown without any detectable formation of secondary phases. The films were found to be transparent in the visible range. The magnetic measurements clearly revealed an enhancement of room temperature ferromagnetism by p-type doping.

EXAFS study for the ordering of manganese in $La_{0.7}Ca_{0.3-x}Ba_xMnO_3$

  • Lanthanum manganites have been extensively studied for the application to magnetic devices since the colossal magnetoresistance of these compounds has been observed [1]. The critical temperatures, Tc, of manganites La/sub 0.7/Ca/sub 0.3-x/Ba/sub x/MnO₃ increased as the content of Ba increased except the abrupt jump near the critical concentration. The step like behavior of the critical temperature for a similar compound has been known to be related to the structural phase transition [2]. To understand the step like behavior of Tc, the EXAFS technique is applied to the La/sub 0.7/Ca/sub 0.3-x/Ba/sub x/MnO₃ compound system. The ordering between the manganese and oxygen was examined by this method. The EXAFS analysis shows that the coordination numbers were not changed before and after the phase transition, the bonding distance between manganese and oxygen is about 1.94 ± 0.02 Å, which is consistent with other work [3] and the Debye waller parameters were about σ²= 0.0037 ± 0.0005 Ų for x=0.0 and x=3.0, respectively. The value of Debye-Waller parameter for x=0.09 is about σ² = 0.0050 ± 0.0005 Ų in about phase transition concentration. Based on the Debye-Waller parameters, it is shown that the ordering between manganese and oxygen is significantly reduced near the phase transition concentration.

  • In this study, $ZnGa_2O_4$ phosphors in its application to field emission displays and electroluminescence were synthesized through the precipitation method and $Mn^{2+}$ ions. A green luminescence activator, $Cr^{3+}$ ions, and a red luminescence activator were separately doped into $ZnGa_2O_4$, which was then screen printed to an indium tin oxide substrate. The thick films of the $ZnGa_2O_4$ were deposited with the various thicknesses using nano-sized powder. The best luminescence characteristics were shown at a thickness of 60 ${\mu}m$. Additionally, green-emission $ZnGa_2O_4:Mn^{2+}$ and red-emission $ZnGa_2O_4:Cr^{3+}$ phosphor thick films, which have superior characteristics, were manufactured through the screen-printing method. These results indicate that $ZnGa_2O_4$ phosphors prepared through the precipitation method have wide application as phosphor of the full color emission.

첨착 활성탄소섬유의 흡착 및 항균특성 (Adsorption and antibacterial property of impregnated activated carbon fiber)

  • 활성탄소섬유에 항균특성을 부가하기 위해 은나노입자, 망간 그리고 인산을 첨착시켰으며 이러한 첨착정도를 SEM 분석을 통해 관찰한 결과 적절하게 ACF에 첨착되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 은나노입자 등으로 첨착된 ACF는 첨착되지 않은 ACF보다 휘발성 유기화합물의 흡착능력면에서 다소 떨어짐을 알 수 있었다. 은나노입자와 인산으로 첨착된 ACF의 경우 bacillus cereus와 salmonella entaritidis에 대해 뛰어난 항균력을 보였으나 망간으로 첨착된 ACF의 경우는 bacillus cereus와 salmonella entaritidis에 대한 항균력이 거의 없음을 알 수 있었다.

Compaction and Sintering Characteristics of High Energy Ball Milled Mn-Zn Ferrite Powders

  • The Mn-Zn ferrite powders were prepared by high energy ball milling, then compacted and sintered at various temperatures to assess their sintering behavior and magnetic properties. The initial ferrite powders were spherical in shape with the size of approximately 70 ㎛. After 3 h of ball milling at 300 rpm, aggregated powders ~230 nm in size and composed of ~15 nm nanoparticles were formed. The milled powders had a density of ~70 % when compacted at 490 MPa for 3 min. In the samples subsequently sintered at 1,273 K ~ 1,673 K for 3 h, the MnZnFe2O4 phase was detected. The density of the sintered samples had a tendency to increase with increasing sintering temperature up to 1,473 K, which produced the highest density of 98 %. On the other hand, the sample sintered at 1,373 K had the highest micro-hardness of approximately 610 Hv, which is due to much finer grains.

  • Electron spin resonance and magnetization measurements were carried out on $La_0.7Ca_0.3MnO_3$ in the ferromagnetic as well as paramagnetic phases. Evidence of an inhomogeneous magnetic structure, consisting of ferro-magnetic microregions embedded in an antiferromagnetic matrix near $T_c$, as well as similar local magnetic structures above and below $T_c$, were found.

Evaluation of immunogenicity of the 2008-2009 seasonal influenza vaccines by microneutralization test

  • Purpose: For evaluating the immunogenicity of an influenza vaccine, the microneutralization (MN) test has a higher sensitivity and specificity as compared to the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test. However, the MN test is more time consuming and is difficult to standardize. We performed the MN test to determine its usefulness as an alternative or complementary test to the HI test for evaluating the immunogenicity of influenza vaccines. Methods: We compared the MN test with the HI test using 50 paired samples taken from a previous clinical study (2008-2009) in Korean children under 18 years of age. Results: The linear correlation coefficients of the 2 tests for H3N2, H1N1, and influenza B were 0.69, 0.70, and 0.66, respectively. We identified a high index of coincidence between the 2 tests. For an influenza vaccine, the postvaccination seroprotection rates and seroconversion rates determined by the MN test were 78.0% and 96.0%, 90% and 42.0%, and 42.0% and 48.0% for H3N2, H1N1, and influenza B, respectively. Geometric mean titer fold increases of H3N2, H1N1, and influenza B were 2.89, 5.04, and 4.29, respectively, and were 2.5-fold higher. We obtained good results in the evaluation of the immunogenicity of the 2008-2009 seasonal influenza vaccines. Conclusion: We found that the MN test was as effective as the HI test. Therefore, we suggest that the MN test can be used as an alternative or complementary test to the HI test for evaluating the immunogenicity of influenza vaccines.
