The Power Loss Characteristics of Mn-Zn Ferrites at MHz Region with Sintering Condition (소성조건에 따른 MHz 대역의 Mn-Zn ferrite 전력손실 특성)

  • The power loss characteristics of Mn-Zn ferrite were observed with the sintering temperature. In case of $1150 ^{\circ}C$ sintering, the core loss increased with measuring temperature, and does not have minimum value at the point where the magnetocrystalline anisotropy be 'zero'. This reason mainly due to the change of core loss mechanism with grain size which affects residual loss. The grain size and sintered density slightly increased with equilibrium oxygen partial pressure at$ 1150 ^{\circ}C$ sintering. The resistivity and initial permeability showed no significance with atmosphere, these results due to complex effect of $Fe^{2+}$ concentration and microstructure change. The core loss at $100^{\circ}C$ decreased as the equilibrium oxygen partial pressure increased.e increased.

Effect of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of an Fe-6.5Mn-0.08C Medium-Manganese Steel (열처리에 따른 Fe-6.5Mn-0.08C 중망간강의 미세조직과 기계적 특성)

  • Effect of heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of an Fe-6.5Mn-0.08C medium-manganese steel is investigated in this study. Three kinds of medium-manganese steel specimens are fabricated by varying heat treatments of intermediate quenching (IQ), step quenching (SQ), and intercritical annealing (IA). Hardness and tensile tests are performed to examine the correlation of microstructure and mechanical properties for the Fe-6.5Mn-0.08C medium-manganese steel specimens. The IQ and SQ specimens have microstructures of martensite matrix with ferrite, whereas IA specimen exhibits microstructure of acicular ferrite matrix with martensite. The tensile test results show that the SQ specimen with martensite matrix has the highest yield strength and the lowest elongation. On the other hand, the SQ specimen has the highest hardness due to the relatively lower reduction of carbon content in martensite during intercritical annealing. According to the fractography of tensile tested specimens, the SQ specimen exhibits a dimple and quasi-cleavage fracture appearance while the IQ and IA specimens have fully ductile fracture appearance with fine-sized dimples caused by microvoid coalescence at ferrite and martensite interface.

Properties of Three Kinds of Ferrite/Rubber Composite Microwave Absorbers with Various Composition Ratio (조성비에 따른 3종 페라이트/고무 복합형 전파흡수체의 특성)

  • In this study, three kinds of Mn-Zn ferrite/Ni-Zn ferrite/$Ni_2Y$ ferroxplana prepared by the coprecipitation method were compounded with the silicon rubber, and the ring-shaped specimens with various compositional ratio were made. The material constant of ferrite/rubber composite absorbers was obtained by the 2-port method. The material constants of the ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorber made of three kinds of ferrite with various compositional ratio were utilized in design the matching conditions (frequency and thickness) on the impedance matching map. We were able to predict the matching condition from the matching map. On all three kinds of ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorber with less than compositional ratio 60[wt.%] of ferroxplana, we have found that the reflection losses were over than 20[dB] at the S-Band $(2\sim4[GHz])$ and C-Band$(4\sim8[GHz])$.

  • 전기, 전자분야에 반도체가 폭넓게 사용됨에 따라 발 변전소에서 Noise에 의한 보호계전기 오동작 사례가 늘어나고 있어, 이것을 효과적으로 차단하고 설비의 오동작을 예방할 수 있는 필터개발이 필요 하였다. 현재 시중에서 사용하고 있는 Ferrite Filter는 일반 가전 및 OA를 대상으로 개발하였기 때문에 송변전계통의 변전소에서 발생하는 Noise와 차단 영역이 다르다. 따라서 송변전설비 보호계전기의 오동작원인을 분석하고, 변전소에서 발생하는 Noise의 형태를 측정하여 그것을 차단하기에 적합한 Clamp형의 Ferrite Filter를 개발하였다. Ferrite Filter는 재질에 따라 고주파 차단 영역이 결정된다. 일반적인 전자설비에 사용하는 니켈계(Ni-Zn) 재질의 Filter는 수MHz~수GHz 영역이며, 변전소에 주로 발생하는 고주파 수KHz~수MHz 영역은 망간계(Mn-Zn) 재질을 혼합하여 만들었다. 개발한 Filter의 성능 확인을 위해 공인시험기관인 KERI(한국전기연구원)에서 다양한 형태로 고주파 차단 특성 시험을 시행한 결과, 망간계와 니켈계 Ferrite Filter를 직렬로 설치함으로서 Noise를 효과적으로 차단함을 확인 하였고 5개소에 2개월간시범적용을 통하여 그 성능을 검증하였다. 본 연구결과는 Clamp형 Ferrite Filter의 기술적 한계로 여겨졌던 고주파 차단특성을 발변전소 등의 전력설비에서 발생하는 대역까지 확대하였으며, 경제적으로도 기존의 L-C Filter 대비 약 4%의 비용으로 설치할 수 있어 그 비용을 획기적으로 절감하였고, 설비의 정지 없이 언제든지 간편하게 설치할 수 있어 현장에서 적용하기에 매우 유용하다. 그 성능을 지속적으로 향상시켜 많은 분야에서 활용할 수 있도록 추가적인 연구개발이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

  • 영구자석은 크게 Hard ferrite와 희토류계 자석, 그리고 Alnico 주조자석으로 구별되어진다. 그동안 Hard ferrite는 산업적으로 전자기 응용제품 또는 각종 구동 모터에 응용되어 왔지만, 최근 Nd계 희토류 자것이 고성능 모터의 소재로 급격히 대체되고 있다. 하지만, 희토류계 원료에 비해 동일 중량 대비 40~60배 가량 저렴한 Hard ferrite의 사용은 현재까지도 꾸준히 유지되고 있으며, 최근 자동차 고성능 모터용 Sr ferrite의 개발이 연구 중이다.[2] 본 연구에서는 제일원리 전산모사를 통하여 HCP 구조의 기본 Unit Cell 64개 원자를 가진 Sr-ferrite의 격자상수를 계산하여 기존 연구결과와 비교하였으며, 자화에너지와 자기모멘트를 계산하였다. 또한 향후 각종 첨가물의 영향에 대한 연구를 위해 기본 구조 및 치환 구조에 대해 고찰하였다. 그 결과 가장 안정한 에너지를 갖는 격자상수는 a=5.88, b=23.03으로 계산되어 Kimura et al의 측정 결과와 유사한 결과를 얻을 수 있었으며, $E_F$가 3.9171, $M_B$는 46.6481로 계산되었다. 항후 Sr-ferrite의 구조에서 Fe atom의 일부를 동일주기 원소인 Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu로 치환하여 자기적 특성을 계산하여 본 연구결과와 비교하고자 한다.

Study on grindability of ferrite (페라이트의 연삭성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper aims to clarify the effects of grinding conditions on bending strength in surface grinding of various ferrites with the resin bond diamond wheel. The main conclusions obtained were as follows. At a constant material removal rate, the strength improves with increased wheel depth of cut and decreased workpiece speed. It is desirable to grind at higher peripheral wheel speed and under the critical workpiece speed presented in this paper. Grinding the ferrite of higher brittleness, the wheel depth of cut limited to hold 50% of their inherent strength becomes lower. The effect of various grinding conditions on bending strength becomes more larger in the order of Sr, Mn-Zn and Cu-Ni-Zn. When using the diamond grain of the lower toughness, the bending strength becomes higher, and the wheel wear occurs faster. Considering both bending strength and wheel wear rate, the best concentration of wheel is 100. The ground surfaces exhibit that the fracture process during grinding becomes more brittle in the order of Sr, Mn-Zn and Cu-Ni-Zn.

Dependence of Compaction Behavior of Spray-Dried Ferrite Powders on the Kinds and Concentrations of Binder Systems (결합제의 종류와 양에 따라 분무건조된 페라이트 분말의 성형특성)

  • Mn-Zn ferrite granules were formed by a spray-drying method of the slurry containing different kinds and concentrations of binders at various temperatures. The slurry was made by conventional ceramic processing method, that is, by mixing Fe2O3, MnO, ZnO powders (52 : 24 : 24 mol%), calcining and milling. Typical shape of the spray dried granules was spherical. The compaction behavior of these granules was dependent on the spray-drying temperature and the kind and concentration of binders. At lower pressure the granules were displaced and at higher pressure the granules were deformed and fractured to fill pores among the granules. The optimum concentration of the binder was 0.5wt%. The granules containing 0.5wt% PVA 205 were deformed and fractured well and the green density was higher than others. At higher concentrations of the binder the granules were deformed rather than fractured, therefore the green density was lowered because of the remaining unfilled pores. The decomposition temperature and the heat released were increased with increasing the concentration of the binders. The compaction response of the granules containing PVA 205 was more efficient than those containing PVA 217 and PVA 117. Green density was not dependent on the degree of hydrolysis of the binders. The compaction response of the granules spray-dried at 15$0^{\circ}C$ was most efficient.

Effect of Aggregates on the Microstructure in Manganese Zinc Ferrite

  • To study the effect of aggregates on the microstructure of sintered bodies, Mn-Zn ferrite powders were prepared by an alcoholic dehydration method. Aggregate powders and reground powders were used as seeds and matrices, respectively. The mixing ratios for the aggregate and reground powders were varied with the sintering temperatures. Green densities were measured with changes in forming pressure and they were related to the microstructures of the sintered bodies. The aggregates proved to be capable of acting as seeds for abnormal grain growth. When the green density difference between the aggregate and the matrix was large, the aggregate could become the seed of abnormal grain growth. As the forming pressure increased, the more aggregates became seeds of abnormal grain growth.

  • In this research, we fabricated paint-type EM wave absorbers by using Mn-Zn, Ni-Zn, Ba, Sr Ferrite, and Sendust. To prepare the absorbers, enamel, epoxy and urethane paints were used as binders. We tested EM wave absorption of them. The band-width of EM wave absorbers coated with $Al(OH)_3$ was larger than non-coated EM wave absorbers. The fabricated EM wave absorbers show a reflection coefficient of 20 dB approximately at X-band for a 2 mm double-layer sample.

  • The magnetic properties, especially the magnetostriction, of ferroxplana $Zn_{1-x}$$M_X$Y(x=0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) were investigated at room temperature. In general, the Curie temperature and the permeability of ferroxplana $Zn_{1-X}$$Mn_X$Y increased while the amount of the other phase decrease with increased concentration of dopant $Mn^{2+} for $Zn^{2+}. The magnetostriction constnats K1, K2, K3 and K4 for ZnY were +0.3, -5.0, -4.3 and $-4.8{\times}$$10^{-6} while that for 4Zn^0.8$ $Mn^0.2$Y were +2.5, -5.4, -6.0 and $-3.4{\times}10^{-6}$, respectively.
