초음속 유동장 내 이중 수직분사의 특성에 관한 연구 I-혼합특성 (Characteristics of Dual Transverse Injection in Supersonic Flow Fields I-Mixing Characteristics)

  • 단일 분사 노즐을 갖는 연소기 내부의 혼합과정에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 연료 분사 노즐을 이중으로 갖는 연소기의 혼합과정에 대한 수치연구를 수행하였다. 수치연구를 위하여 3차원 Navier-Stokes 방정식과 k-$\omega$ SST난류 모델을 이용하여 연료 이중 분사 유동을 모사하였다. 이중 분사구 사이의 거리 변화에 따른 혼합특성의 변화를 살펴보기 위하여 파라메터 연구를 수행하였다. 연료 이중 수직분사에서 두 분사기의 유동 및 혼합특성은 서로 상당히 다른 경향을 보이며, 후방 분사기의 유동 및 혼합특성은 전방 분사류의 영향을 받아 더 크게 팽창하고 침투거리가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 어떤 특정 거리가 되기 전까지 분사기 사이의 거리가 증가할수록 전체적인 혼합률과 침투거리가 증가하는 등 혼합특성이 개선되지만, 특정 거리보다 크게되면 오히려 혼합특성이 악화되는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 이중분사기에서 최적인 혼합특성을 위한 두 분사기 사이의 거리가 존재함을 의미하는 것으로 판단된다.

Approach of Self-mixing Interferometry Based on Particle Swarm Optimization for Absolute Distance Estimation

  • To accurately extract absolute distance information from a self-mixing interferometry (SMI) signal, in this paper we propose an approach based on a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm instead of frequency estimation for absolute distance. The algorithm is utilized to search for the global minimum of the fitness function that is established from the self-mixing signal to find out the actual distance. A resolution superior to $25{\mu}m$ in the range from 3 to 20 cm is obtained by experimental measurement, and the results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach in comparison with interpolated FFT. The influence of different external feedback strength parameters and different inertia weights in the algorithm is discussed as well.

Method for estimating workability of self-compacting concrete using mixing process images

  • Estimating the workability of self-compacting concrete (SCC) is very important both in laboratories and on construction site. A method using visual information during the mixing process was proposed in this paper to estimate the workability of SCC. First, fourteen specimens of concrete were produced by a single-shaft mixer. A digital camera was used to record all the mixing processes. Second, employing the digital image processing, the visual information from mixing process images was extracted. The concrete pushed by the rotating blades forms two boundaries in the images. The shape of the upper boundary and the vertical distance between the upper and lower boundaries were used as two visual features. Thirdly, slump flow test and V-funnel test were carried out to estimate the workability of each SCC. Finally, the vertical distance between the upper and lower boundaries andthe shape of the upper boundary were used as indicators to estimate the workability of SCC. The vertical distance between the upper and lower boundaries was related to the slump flow, the shape of the upper boundary was related to the V-funnel flow time. Based on these relationships, the workability of SCC could be estimated using the mixing process images. This estimating method was verified by three more experiments. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method could be used to automatically estimate SCC workability.

수평 배치된 분사구의 배치 간격에 따른 초음속 유동장 내 분사 유동의 침투 및 혼합 특성 (Effect of the distance between the adjacent injectors on penetration and mixing characteristics of the jet in supersonic crossflow)

  • 본 연구에서는 초음속 유동장 내 연료 분사시 연소기의 공간적인 제한 조건을 고려하여 복수의 분사기간 배치 간격을 변화시키고 그에 따른 유동 구조, 연료의 침투 거리 및 연료-공기의 혼합 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 널리 알려진 단일 분사구를 이용한 실험 조건을 모사하여 적용된 수치 모델을 검토하였으며, 동일한 분사 조건을 갖는 복수의 분사기를 이용하여 비반응 유동 해석을 수행하였다. 해석 결과를 바탕으로 분사구 간 거리에 따라 전압력 손실, 침투 거리, 및 혼합 성능 등을 정량적으로 비교하였다. 해석 결과 분사구 간 배치 거리가 매우 짧은 경우 분사 연료가 서로 융합되면서 유동장이 2차원 특성을 나타내었고 전반적으로 낮은 혼합 효율 특성과 높은 전압력 손실을 발생하였다. 분사구 간 거리가 멀어짐에 따라 분사 가스간의 상호작용이 감소하면서 혼합 효율이 증가하고 전압력 손실이 낮아지는 것이 관찰되었다.

스크램제트엔진 연료수직분사의 혼합특성 개선에 관한 수치연구 (Mixing Augmentation of Transverse Injection of Fuel in SCRamjet Engine)

  • A method for the mixing augmentation of the transverse injection of fuel in a Scramjet combustor is suggested. Based on the fact that the main factor controlling the mixing characteristics in transverse injection is the effective back-pressure (the pressure around the injection hole) it is tried to make a flow expansion near the injection port in order to reduce effective back-pressure. A three dimensional Navier-Stokes code adopting the upwind method of Roe#s flux difference splitting scheme is used. The k-w SST turbulence model turbulence model is used to calculate the turbulent viscosity. It is shown that the reducing of the effective back-pressure make it possible to increase the penetration distance and to increase the mixing rate without excessive losses of stagnation pressure. Also, it is shown that the streamwise vorticity generated by baroclinic torque has great influences on the mixing process.

  • This article presents an application of a large-scale structural mixing model (Broadwell et al. 1984) to the blowout of turbulent reacting jets discharging perpendicularly into an unconfined cross air-flow. In an analysis of a common stability curve, a plausible explanation can be made that the phenomenon of blowout is related only to the mixing time scale of the two flows. The most notable observation is that the blowout distance is traced at fixed positions at all times according to the velocity ratio R. Measurements of the lower blowout limits in the liftable flame agree qualitatively with the blowout parameter ${\varepsilon}$, proposed by Broadwell et al. Good agreement between the results calculated by a modified blowout parameter ${\varepsilon}^'$ and experimental results confirms the important effect of a large-scale structure in specifying the stabilization feature of blowouts.

  • In this paper, the study of effects of flow variables on flame structure and NOx emission concentration was performed in co-axial laminar partially premixed methane/air flames. the objectives are to reveal its effect as parameters were varied and to understand the correlation between flame structure and NOx emission characteristics in the reaction zone. equivalence ratio(${\Phi}$), fuel split degree(${\sigma}$), and mixing distance(x/D) were defined as a premixing degree and varied within $1.36{\sim}3.17$(equivalence ratio), $50{\sim}100$(fuel split degree), and $5{\sim}20$(mixing distance). the image of $OH{\ast}$ and $CH{\ast}$, and NOx concentration were obtained with an ICCD camera and a NOx analyzer. additionally the maximum intensity location of $OH{\ast}$ chemiluminescence and $CH{\ast}$ chemiluminescence were measured to compare each flame structures. In conclusion flame structure and NOx emission characteristics were changed from diffused to premixed flame when mixing degree was on the increase. the main effect on flame structure and NOx production was at first equivalence ratio(${\Phi}$), and next fuel split degree(${\sigma}$), and finally mixing distance(x/D).

  • In this study, we used In-line orifice mixer for efficient chemicals mixing in water treatment. The method of using In-line orifice mixer has been already proved the improvement of water treatment efficiency. Numerical study was performed using FLUENT, a commercial code, to standard design and production of effective In-line orifice mixer. As variable for exactly standardizing, a proper ratio between an outer diameter of cone and a diameter of pipe, a distance between cone and orifice, a determination of orifice diameter for an optimal mixing, a distance between injection nozzle's position and cone, Numerical study has been performed for optimal standard and analyzed flow field on a basis of turbulent intensity in an orifice downstream.

  • The present experimental study investigates single-phase heat transfer coefficients downstream of support grid in $6{\times}6$ rod bundles. Support grid with split mixing vanes enhance heat transfer in rod bundles by generating it make turbulence. But this turbulence is confined to short distance. Support grid with LSVF mixing vanes enhanced heat transfer to longer distance. The corresponding Reynolds number investigated in the present study is Re=30,000. The heat transfer coefficients are measured using heated and unheated copper sensor.
