  • The recent development of information and communication technology is also affecting audio/video systems used in industry. The audio/video device configuration system changes from analog to digital, and the network-based audio/video system control has the advantage of reducing costs in accordance with system operation. However, audio/video systems released on the market have limitations in that they can only control their own products or can only be performed on specific platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux). This paper is a study on a device (Network Audio Video Integrated Control: NAVICS) that can integrate and control multiple audio / video devices with different functions, and can control digitalized audio / video devices through network and serial communication. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that individual control and integrated control were possible through the protocol provided by each audio/video device by NAVICS, and that even non-experts could easily control the audio/video system. In the future, it is expected that network-based audio/video integrated control technology will become the technical standard for complex audio/video system control.

  • In this paper, Antenna, LNA, Mixer, VCO, and Modulation/Demodulation in Baseband processor which are the RF main components in Wireless LAN system for ultra high-speed communications network are studied. Antenna bandwidth and selective fading due to multipath can be major obstacles in high speed digital communications. To solve this problem, wide band MSA which has loop-structure magnetic antenna characteristics is designed. Distributed mixer using dual-gate GaAs MESFET can achieve over 10dB LO/RF isolation without hybrid, and minimize circuit size. As linear mixing signal is produced, distortions can be decreased at baseband signals. Conversion gain is achieved by mixing and amplification simultaneously. Mixer is designed to have wide band characteristics using distributed amplifier. In VCO design, Oscillator design method by large signal analysis is used to produce stable signal. Modulation/Demodulation system in baseband processor, DS/SS technique which is robust against noise and interference is used to eliminate the effect of multipath propagation. DQPSK modulation technique with M-sequences for wideband PN spreading signals is adopted because of BER characteristic and high speed digital signal transmission.

  • A method is proposed in this paper to estimate the workability of self-compacting concrete (SCC) in different mixing conditions with different mixers and mixing volumes by recording the mixing process based on deep learning (DL). The SCC mixing videos were transformed into a series of image sequences to fit the DL model to predict the SF and VF values of SCC, with four groups in total and approximately thirty thousand image sequence samples. The workability of three groups SCC whose mixing conditions were learned by the DL model, was estimated. One additionally collected group of the SCC whose mixing condition was not learned, was also predicted. The results indicate that whether the SCC mixing condition is included in the training set and learned by the model, the trained model can estimate SCC with different workability effectively at the same time. Our goal to estimate SCC workability in different mixing conditions is achieved.

  • In this paper, we propose a direct conversion double-balanced down-converter fer MB-OFDM W system, which is implemented using $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CMOS technology and its measurement results are shown. The proposed down-converter adopts a resistive current-source instead of general transconductance stage using MOS transistor to achieve wideband characteristics over RF input frequency band $3\~5\;GHz$ with good gain flatness. The measured conversion gain is more than +3 dB, and gain flatness is less than 3 dB for three UWB channels. The dc consumption of this work is only 0.89 mA from 1.8 V power supply, leading to the low-power W application.

  • Conductive polymer composites (CPCs) consist of a polymeric matrix and a conductive filler, for example, carbon black, carbon fibers, graphite or carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The critical amount of the electrically conductive filler necessary to build up a continuous conductive network, and accordingly, to make the material conductive; is referred to as the percolation threshold. From technical and economical viewpoints, it is desirable to decrease the conductive-filler percolation-threshold as much as possible. In this study, we investigated the effect of polymer/conductive-filler interactions, as well as the processing and morphological development of low-percolation-threshold (${\Phi}c$) conductive-polymer composites. The aim of the study was to produce conductive composites containing less multi-walled CNTs (MWCNTs) than required for pure polypropylene (PP) through two approaches: one using various mixing methods and the other using immiscible polymer blends. Variants of the conductive PP composite filled with MWCNT was prepared by dry mixing, melt mixing, mechanofusion, and compression molding. The percolation threshold (${\Phi}c$) of the MWCNT-PP composites was most successfully lowered using the mechanofusion process than with any other mixing method (2-5 wt%). The mechanofusion process was found to enhance formation of a percolation network structure, and to ensure a more uniform state of dispersion in the CPCs. The immiscible-polymer blends were prepared by melt mixing (internal mixer) poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF, PP/PVDF, volume ratio 1:1) filled with MWCNT.

  • In this paper, a double-sided planar balun using Microstrip-to-CPW coupled structure is fabricated and measured. The measured amplitude and phase imbalance are, respectively, less than 0.2 dB and 2.1$^{\circ}$ in a wide frequency range from 2.44 GHz to 4.33 GHz. It is expected that the proposed balun can improved the performance of balanced mixer, amplifier and feeding network of antennas. Also, it can be used in many microwave multilayer structures due to its structural characteristics.

  • For controlling micro-flows inside a LOC (lab-on-a-chip) a syringe pump or an electronic device for EOF(electro-osmotic flow) have been used in general. However, these devices are so large and heavy that they are burdensome in the development of a portable micro-TAS (total analysis system). In this study, a new flow control system employing pressure chambers, digital switches and speed controllers was developed. This system could effectively control the micro-scale flows inside a LOC without any mechanical actuators or electronic devices We also checked the feasibility of this new control system by applying it to a LOC of micro-mixer type. Performance tests show that the developed control system has very good performance. Because the flow rate in LOC is controlled easily by throttling the speed controller, the flows in complicate microchannels network can be also controlled precisely.

  • A CMOS quadrature Up-converter for a direct-conversion receiver of 5.15-5.825GHz wireless LAN is described. The Up-converter consists of two sub-harmonic mixers, for I and Q channels, and an LO generation network. In order to decrease the number of inductor, I and Q path are merged. The simulation results including all the parasitics show -17.3dB conversion gain at center and -8 dBv oIP3 while consuming 22.968mW under 1.8V supply. The quadrature Up-converter is under fabrication with the other transmitter blocks in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

  • Radioactive particle tracking (RPT) is a minimally invasive nuclear technique that tracks a radioactive particle inside a volume of interest by means of a mathematical location algorithm. During the past decades, many algorithms have been developed including ones based on artificial intelligence techniques. In this study, RPT technique is applied in a simulated test section that employs a simplified mixer filled with concrete, six scintillator detectors and a137Cs radioactive particle emitting gamma rays of 662 keV. The test section was developed using MCNPX code, which is a mathematical code based on Monte Carlo simulation, and 3516 different radioactive particle positions (x,y,z) were simulated. Novelty of this paper is the use of a location algorithm based on a deep learning model, more specifically a 6-layers deep rectifier neural network (DRNN), in which hyperparameters were defined using a Bayesian optimization method. DRNN is a type of deep feedforward neural network that substitutes the usual sigmoid based activation functions, traditionally used in vanilla Multilayer Perceptron Networks, for rectified activation functions. Results show the great accuracy of the DRNN in a RPT tracking system. Root mean squared error for x, y and coordinates of the radioactive particle is, respectively, 0.03064, 0.02523 and 0.07653.

  • The cathode, which is one of the four major components of a lithium secondary battery, is an important component responsible for the energy density of the battery. The mixing process of active material, conductive material, and polymer binder is very essential in the commonly used wet manufacturing process of the cathode. However, in the case of mixing conditions of the cathode, since there is no systematic method, in most cases, differences in performance occur depending on the manufacturer. Therefore, LiMn2O4 (LMO) cathodes were prepared using a commonly used THINKY mixer and homogenizer to optimize the mixing method in the cathode slurry preparation step, and their characteristics were compared. Each mixing condition was performed at 2000 RPM and 7 min, and to determine only the difference in the mixing method during the manufacture of the cathode other experiment conditions (mixing time, material input order, etc.) were kept constant. Among the manufactured THINKY mixer LMO (TLMO) and homogenizer LMO (HLMO), HLMO has more uniform particle dispersion than TLMO, and thus shows higher adhesive strength. Also, the result of the electrochemical evaluation reveals that HLMO cathode showed improved performance with a more stable life cycle compared to TLMO. The initial discharge capacity retention rate of HLMO at 69 cycles was 88%, which is about 4.4 times higher than that of TLMO, and in the case of rate capability, HLMO exhibited a better capacity retention even at high C-rates of 10, 15, and 20 C and the capacity recovery at 1 C was higher than that of TLMO. It's postulated that the use of a homogenizer improves the characteristics of the slurry containing the active material, the conductive material, and the polymer binder creating an electrically conductive network formed by uniformly dispersing the conductive material suppressing its strong electrostatic properties thus avoiding aggregation. As a result, surface contact between the active material and the conductive material increases, electrons move more smoothly, changes in lattice volume during charging and discharging are more reversible and contact resistance between the active material and the conductive material is suppressed.
