화학적 박리법으로 제조된 산화그래핀 분말의 건조방법에 따른 물성 비교 (Effect of Drying Methods on the Production of Graphenes Oxide Powder Prepared by Chemical Exfoliation)

  • Graphene oxide powders prepared by two different drying processes, freeze drying and spray drying, were studied to compare the effect of the drying method on the physical properties of graphene oxide powder. The graphene oxide dispersion was prepared from graphite by chemical delamination with the aid of sulfuric acid and permanganic acid, and the dispersion was further washed and re-dispersed in a mixed solvent of water and isopropyl alcohol. A freeze drying method can feasibly minimize damage to the sample, but it requires a long process time. In contrast, spray drying is able to remove a solvent in a relatively short time, though this process requires exposure to a high temperature for a rapid evaporation of the solvent. The powders prepared by freeze drying and spray drying were characterized and compared by Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and by an elemental analysis. The graphene oxide powders showed similar chemical compositions; however, the morphologies of the powders differed in that the graphene oxide prepared by spray drying had a winkled morphology and a higher apparent density compared to the powder prepared by freeze drying. The graphene oxide powders were reduced at $900^{\circ}C$ in an atmosphere of $N_2$. The effect of the drying process on the properties of the reduced graphene oxide was examined by SEM, TEM and Raman spectroscopy.

Effect of Mixed Treatment of Urea Fertilizer and Zeolite on Nitrous Oxide and Ammonia Emission in Upland Soil

  • Ammonia loss from urea significantly hinders efficient use of urea in agriculture. The level of nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) a long-lived greenhouse gas in atmosphere has increased mainly due to anthropogenic source, especially application of nitrogen fertilizers. There are reports in the literature showing that the addition of zeolite to N sources can improve the nitrogen use efficiency. This study was conducted to evaluate nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) and ammonia ($NH_3$) emission by mixed treatment of urea and zeolite in upland crop field. Urea fertilizer and zeolite were applied at different rates to study their effect on $N_2O$ emission during red pepper cultivation in upland soils. The $N_2O$ gas was collected by static closed chamber method and measured by gas chromatography. Ammonia concentration was analyzed by closed-dynamic air flow system method. The total $N_2O$ flux increased in proportion to the level of N application. Emission of $N_2O$ from the field increased from the plots applied with urea-zeolite mixture compared to urea alone. But urea-zeolite mixture treatment reduced about 30% of $NH_3$-N volatilization amounts. These results showed that the application of urea and zeolite mixture had a positive influence on reduction of $NH_3$ volatilization, but led to the increase in $N_2O$ emission in upland soils.

Ni-Mn 산화물 NTC 서미스터의 미세구조와 전기적 특성에 미치는 CuO 첨가의 효과 (Effect of CuO Addition on the Microstructural and Electrical Properties of Ni-Mn Oxide NTC Thermistor)

  • In this study, $ Ni_{0.79}(Mn_{2.21-x}Cu_x)O_4$ (x=0~0.25) specimens were prepared by using a conventional mixed oxide method. All specimens were sintered in air at $1,200^{\circ}C$ for 12 h and cooled at a rate of $2^{\circ}C/min$ to $800^{\circ}C$, subsequently quenching to room temperature. We investigated the structural and electrical properties of $ Ni_{0.79}(Mn_{2.21-x}Cu_x)O_4$ specimens with variation of CuO amount for the application of NTC thermistors. As results of X-ray diffraction patterns, all specimens showed the formation of a complete solid solution with cubic spinel phase. The relationship between ln ${\rho}$ and the reciprocal of absolute temperature(1/T) for the NTC thermistors was shown linearity, which exhibited the typical NTC thermistor properties. With increasing the amount of CuO, resistivity at room temperature, B-value, and temperature coefficient resistance decreased.

Effect of NiO on Microstructure and Properties of PMN-PT-BT Ceramics Prepared by Mixed Oxide Method

  • Effects of NiO were studied in aspects of dielectric properties and microstructure of $0.96(0.91Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.09PbTiO_3)­0.04BaTiO_3$ (PMN-PT-BT, PBT). The PBT was prepared by a conventional mixed oxide method using $(MgCO_3)_4{\cdot}Mg(OH)_2$ instead of MgO through Lewis acid-base interaction. NiO was added in the range of 0.5 to $3.0\;wt\%$ as thermally decomposable $2NiCO_3{\cdot}3Ni(OH)_2$ and it seemed to enhance densification to a large extent below $1000^{\circ}C$. But all the systems gave rise to ceramics with almost same relative sintered density of 96% by sintering at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. But it turned out that the addition of NiO was detrimental to dielectric constant but beneficial to the loss of dielectric constant.

  • In this paper, the structural and dielectric properties of (Sr$_{l-x}$Ca$_{x}$)TiO$_3$ (0$\leq$x$\leq$0.2) -based grain boundary layer ceramics were investigated by XRD, SEM and HP4194A. The ceramics were fabricated by the conventional mixed oxide method. The sintering temperature and time were 1420~152$0^{\circ}C$ and 4 hours, respectively. The average grain size and the lattice constant were decreased with increasing content of Ca. The average grain size was increased with increase of sintering temperature. The relative density of all specimens was 96~98%. The 2nd Phase formed by the thermal diffusion of CuO from the surface leads to very excellent dielectric properties, that is, $\varepsilon$$_{r}$>50000, tan $\delta$<0.05, $\Delta$C<$\pm$10%. The appropriate Ca content was under 15 ㏖%.s under 15 ㏖%.%.

중성자 회절에 의한 산화우라늄 핵연료 분말의 결정크기 측정 (Crystallite Size Measurement of Uranium Oxide Fuel Powders by Neutron Diffraction)

  • The nano-scale crystallite sizes of uranium oxide powders in simulated spent fuel were measured by the neutron diffraction line broadening method in order to analyze the sintering behavior of the dry process fuel. The mixed $UO_2$ and fission product powders were dry-milled in an attritor for 30, 60, and 120 min. The diffraction patterns of the powders were obtained by using the high resolution powder diffractometer in the HANARO research reactor. Diffraction line broadening due to crystallite size was measured using various techniques such as the Stokes' deconvolution, profile fitting methods using Cauchy function, Gaussian function, and Voigt function, and the Warren-Averbach method. The non-uniform strain, stacking fault and twin probability were measured using the information from the diffraction pattern. The realistic crystallite size could be obtained after separation of the contribution from the non-uniform strain, stacking fault and twin.

Al-Zr 혼합산화물 촉매의 제조 및 특성분석 (Preparation and Characterization of Al-Zr Mixed Oxide Catalysts)

  • Al/(Al+Zr)의 몰 비를 달리하여 xAl-yZr 산화물 촉매를 공침법으로 제조하였고, 모델반응으로 이소프로판올 탈수반응을 수행하였다. 제조된 촉매는 X-선 회절분석, 시차 열분석법, 질소 흡착법, 암모니아 승온탈착법, 이소프로판올 승온탈착법 등의 특성분석을 수행하였다. 지르코니아에 알루미늄 종을 첨가하면 상대적으로 넓은 비표면적을 갖는 작은 입자를 얻을 수 있으며 지르코니아의 결정상변화를 억제시켰다. 암모니아 승온탈착으로 알루미늄의 몰 비가 증가함에 따라 상대적인 산양이 증가함을 확인하였고, 이소프로판올탈수반응에서 촉매 활성 또한 증가하였다. 이러한 촉매활성은 촉매의 비표면적, 산점, 상대적으로 용이한 이소프로판올의 탈착과 연관시킬 수 있었다.

  • 지지체의 구성비가 일산화탄소 산화반응에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 다양한 몰 비의 Al/(Al+Ce) 산화물을 공침법으로 제조하고 백금을 담지한 촉매를 함침법으로 제조하였다. 제조한 촉매의 물리 화학적 특성을 알아보고 반응 활성과 연관시키기 위하여 X-선 회절분석(XRD), 질소 흡착 탈착분석($N_2$ sorption), 수소/일산화탄소-승온환원분석($H_2$/CO-TPR)의 특성분석을 수행하였다. Pt/xAl-yCe 촉매에서 지지체의 몰 비에 따른 최적 활성을 조사한 결과, 건식 및 습식 반응조건에서 Pt/1Al-9Ce 촉매가 가장 좋은 활성을 나타냈으며, 이를 기준으로 회산형 형태의 반응 곡선을 나타냈다. 반응물에 5%의 수분이 존재 할 때, 50%의 전환율 온도가 건조 반응조건에서의 활성보다 약 $30^{\circ}C$ 저온으로 이동하였다. CO-TPR 분석에서Pt/1Al-9Ce 촉매 상의 이산화탄소 탈착피크가 가장 크게 관찰되었고, CO-TPR 결과는 반응결과와 잘 일치하였다. 이는 다른 촉매에 비해 Pt/1Al-9Ce 촉매의 표면 흡착점이 가장 많고 지지체로부터 산소공급이 용이함을 의미한다. 또한 $^{27}Al$ NMR 분석에서 오면체로 배위된 $Al^{3+}$ 점의 양과 반응 활성이 비례관계에 있음을 확인하였다.

Sample Preparation for Microstructural Characterization of Ni-Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Anodes

  • Microstructural characterization of Ni-yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) anodes using secondary electron images has been limited by a lack of contrast between Ni and YSZ phases. This paper reports a sample preparation method for obtaining secondary electron images that allow the detection of Ni, YSZ, and pore phases together. Ni-YSZ anode samples were obtained by reducing NiO-YSZ samples prepared by using the mixed oxide method. Colloidal silica polishing and electrolytic etching were performed on the Ni-YSZ samples. The morphological change of the sample surface after each polishing process is examined.

  • In this study, we fabricated honeycomb type Mixed-Gas Fuel Cell (MGFC) which has advantages of stacking to the axial direction and increasing volume power density. Honeycomb-shaped anode with four channels was prepared by dry pressing method. Two alternative channels were coated with electrolyte and cathode slurry in order to make cathodic reaction sites and the others were filled with partial oxidation (POX) catalyst to increase fuel conversion. Furthermore we employed the sol-gel technique which can increase cell performance and decrease carbon coking.
