Mononuclear mixed-anions Mn complex of TPAMn(η2-NO3)(η-ClO4), where TPA is tris(2-pyridylmethyl)-amine, has been synthesized and characterized. The neutral TPAMn(η2-NO3)(η-ClO4) was obtained from the reaction between Mn(NO3)2·4H2O and [H3TPA](ClO4)3 in MeOH. X-ray crystallographic structure of mononuclear TPAMn(η2-NO3)(η-ClO4) complex showed a seven-coordinated geometry with a tripodal tetradentate TPA, a terminal perchlorate and an η2-bound nitrate.
In the atomic absorption spectrometry using an air-acetylene flame, the interferences of Zr, Sn, Al, Sb, $SO_4^{2-},\;VO_3^-,\;and\;SiO_3^{2-}$, on the calcium absorption and the repression of this interference by the addition of cerium have been studied. The interference by Zr, Sn, Al, Sb, $SO_4^{2-},\;VO_3^-,\;and\;SiO_3^{2-}$ existed as the same concentration as calciurn ($3.0 {\times} 10^{-4}$M) in the sample solution are completely released by the addition of cerium twice as much as interfering cation. The interferences by the mixed interfering cations (Zr, Sn, Al and Sb) and by the mixed interfering anions ($SO_4^{2-},\;VO_3^-,\;and\;SiO_3^{2-}$) are larger than by each interfering cation and anion, and the releasing effect by cerium ($1.5 {\times} 10^{-2}$M) is effective up to some degree of the concentration of mixed interfering cations and of mixed interfering anions. The releasing effect by cerium to the mixed solution of interfering cations and anions is applicable to quite wide range of concentration.
The ion aggregates formed between cationic triphenylmethane dyes and tetraphenylborate(TPB) or tetrakis(4-fluorophenyl) borate (TFB) anions have been investigated spectroscopically. The photometric sensitivities of the dyes are found to be increasing in the order pararosaniline < malachite green < methyl violet 2B < crystal violet < ethyl violet. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB) and Triton X-100(TX-100) destroy the ion aggregates. By comparing the concentration of surfactant beyond which dye-borate mixed solutions behave identically with the dye blank, the order of hydrophobicity appears to be parallel with that of photometric sensitivity.
We fabricated a composite carbon electrode to remove nitrate ions selectively from a mixed solution of anions. The electrode was fabricated by coating the surface of a carbon electrode with the nitrate-selective anion exchange resin (BHP55, Bonlite Co.) powder. We performed capacitive deionization (CDI) experiments on a mixed solution containing chloride, nitrate, and sulfate ions using a BHP55 cell constructed with the fabricated electrode. The removal of nitrate ions in the BHP55 cell was compared to that of a membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) cell constructed with ion exchange membranes. The total quantity of ions adsorbed in BHP55 cell was $38.3meq/m^2$, which is 31% greater than that of MCDI cell. In addition, the number of nitrate adsorption in the BHP55 cell was $15.9meq/m^2$ (42% of total adsorption), 2.1 times greater than the adsorption in the MCDI cell. The results showed that the fabricated composite carbon electrode is very effective in the selective removal of nitrate ions from a mixed solution of anions.
This pot experiment was conducted to find out the optimal fertilization ratio of the anions (N : S : P) in various soil conditions. Soil samples were collected from uncultivated mountains and hills where development for grasslands is under consideration. The optimum ratios were computed by the $Hom{\grave{e}}s$ systematic variation technique. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The optimum fertilization ratios of the anions (N : S : P) for the high yields of grass - clover mixed sward at various areas were obtained (Table 5). 2. The grass yields in mixed sward were increased by the increase of specific soil characteristics, CEC, OM, T-N, avail-$P_2O_5$. However. it was not recognizable by the contents of the cations, the base saturation, and the pH. 3. The relatively high yields of clover were positively related to the Ca and Mg contents in soils, and it was a factor of the increased total yields of mixed sward. 4. The relatively high optimum fertilization ratios of S in volcanic ash soil in the Cheju district and P in sediment lithosol in Daegu should be taken into account in determing the fertilization rate for high yield of clover in mixed sward.
The rejection of hardness in a lactate fermentation broth was investigated by NTR-729 nanofiltration membrane. Firstly, a method for determining membrane surface charge was proposed on the basis of the rejection data for NaCl, $Na_2SO_4$, $MgCl_2$, $MgSO_4$ solutions. It was found that the NTR-729 membrane was negatively charged. The rejection of $Mg^{2+}$ ions in model solution of lactate was over 80% with lactate concentrations. But the rejection of $Mg^{2+}$ ions in fermentation broth of lactate was about 40 %. This results was caused by anions paired with $Mg^{2+}$ ions. It was found that the repulsive force of monovalent anions with membrane was almost few through an experiment of a mixed solution of NaCl/ $Na_2SO_4$. So the rejection of $Mg^{2+}$ ion in a fermentation broth was lower than that in a model solution because $Mg^{2+}$ ions permeated to the membrane with various monovalent anions.

This pot experiments were conducted to find out the optimal fertilization ratios of the N:S:P anions and K:Ca:Mg cations of major nutrients in an orchardgrass/ladino clover mixed sward. The optimum ratios in equivalent basis were computed by the Homes systematic variations technique. The soil samples were collected from the newly reclaimed soils, which are located on colluvial hilly area with a good consideration for the hilly pasture development. The results were summarized as follows; 1, the optimum fertilization ratios of major nutrients for the high yields by the forage species in a mixed sward were obtained (Table 4 in detail); N:S:P = 3:l: 1 and K:Ca:Mg = 1:l: 1 for grass and grass plus legume, and N:S:P = 1:6:43 and K:Ca:Mg = 1: 3: 1 for legume in general. 2. The yield increases from the systematic variations in this mixed sward were laid in following order; N > P >S-group and K >Mg >Ca-group for grass and grass plus legume, and P >S >N-group and Ca >Mg > K-group for legume. Especially, the yields were greatly increased at the N-group for grass, and at the Pand Ca-groups for legume. 3. Soil pH-value was descreased at the Sgroup, and somewhat increased at the Ca- and Mg-groups. The content of available $P_2O_5$, CEC and base saturation were greatest with the Ca-group. 4. At the N-group, the N-contents were highest and the P-contents were lowest in grass and grass plus legume, which resulted in the highest Ca/P ratio of 2.15 among the anion groups. Whereas the highest Ca/P ratio of 9.20 in legume was obtained at the Ca-group. Legume showed in general higher Ca/P ratio and lower K/(Ca+Mg) ratio than these in grass. 5 . There were differences in the effects of systematic variations of major nutrients on the dry matter yields and the mineral yields. The optimum fertilization ratios of anions and cations for the high mineral yields were obtained (Table E), which showed differences comparing with the ratios for the high dry matter yields. The antagonis between the cations K and Mg was known from the point of mineral yields of mixed forages.

The reaction of $LnCl_3{\cdot}7H_2O$ [Ln = La (1), Ce (2)] with salicylic acid (HL) and 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) at $20^{\circ}C$ in $H_2O$/ethanol gave after work-up and recrystallization two novel lanthanide complexes with general formula $[Ln(Phen)_2(L)_3(HL)]{\cdot}H_2O$. Compounds 1 and 2 were characterized by IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, TGA, CHN as well as by X-ray analysis. According to these results, compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural and contain $Ln^{3+}$ ions with coordination number nine. Complexes 1 and 2 consist of two Phen, one neutral HL and three L anions (two L anions act as monodentate ligands and the third one is chelating to $Ln^{3+}$). Thermal decomposition led to primary loss of the Phen molecules. Then HL molecules and finally L moieties left the material to give $Ln_2O_3$.

The present research evaluates the efficiency of mixed resins between anion exchange resin and active carbon. We expected synergic effect from advantages of both adsorbents. Especially, this research focused on the removal of high cencentrated perchlorate ion from demilitarization solution. The total amount of the adsorbed perchlorate ion is increased considerably with mixed resins between mono functional anion exchange resin and granular active carbon from a single adsorbent. Results demonstated that this process not only improve the efficiency of adsorbing perchlorate, but save the time, space and cost for treating perchlotrate waste solution, because of reducing organic contaminant removing process. The interference effects from coexisting anions are not significant and can successfully applied to real demilitarization sample.
Five derivatives of phenylthiourea namely: 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-phenylthiourea (1), 1-(4-methylphenyl)-3- phenylthiourea (2), 1-(4-bromophenyl)-3-phenylthiourea (3), 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-phenylthiourea (4) and 1-phenylthiourea (5) have been evaluated as new inhibitors for the corrosion of carbon steel in 2 M HCl solution using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements showed that these derivatives are mixed-type inhibitors. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with inhibitor concentration and decreases with rise in temperature. The thermodynamic parameters of adsorption and activation were determined and discussed. Nyquist plots showed depressed semicircles with their centre below real axis. The adsorption process of studied derivatives on carbon steel surface obeys Temkin adsorption isotherm. The synergistic effect of these derivatives and some anions is discussed from the viewpoint of adsorption models. The electrochemical results are in good agreement with the calculated quantum chemical HOMO and LUMO energies of the tested molecules.
