Rice sheath blight (ShB), caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kühn AG1-IA, is one of the destructive rice diseases worldwide. The aims of this study were to develop biocontrol strategies focusing on field sanitation and foliar application with a biocontrol agent for ShB management. Streptomyces padanus PMS-702 showed a great antagonistic activity against R. solani. Fungichromin produced by S. padanus PMS-702, at 3.07 mg/l inhibited 50% mycelial growth, caused leakage of cytoplasm, and inhibited the formation of infection structures of R. solani. Fungichromin could reach to 802 mg/l when S. padanus PMS-702 was cultured in MACC broth for 6 days. Addition of 0.5% S. padanus PMS-702 broth into soil decreased the survival rate of the pathogen compared to the control. Soil amended with 0.5% S. padanus broth and 0.5% tea seed pomace resulted in the death of R. solani mycelia in the infested rice straws, and the germination of sclerotia was inhibited 21 days after treatment. Greenhouse trials revealed that S. padanus cultured in soybean meal-glucose (SMGC-2) medium after mixing with different surfactants could enhance its efficacy for inhibiting the pathogen. Of six surfactants tested, the addition of 2% tea saponin was the most effective in suppressing the pathogen. S. padanus broth after being fermented in SMGC-2, mixed with 2% tea saponin, diluted 100 fold, and sprayed onto rice plants significantly reduced ShB disease severity. Thus, S. padanus PMS-702 is an effective biocontrol agent. The efficacy of S. padanus PMS-702 for disease control could be improved through formulation.

The measurments of neutral semiquinone radicals, which were formed from the laser flash photolysis of anthraquinone (AQ) in the mixed solvents were carried out by the time resolved electron spin resonance (trESR) spectroscopy. The chemically induced dynamic electron polarization (CIDEP) spectra of the neutral semiquinone radical (AQH${\cdot}$) and semiquinone radical anion (AQ${\cdot}$-) were successively detected in the laser flash photolysis of AQ in the mixtures of 2-propanol (PrOH) and triethylamine (TEA). The neutral semiquinone radical was short-lived with the half-life of 0.8 ${\mu}sec$, whereas the semiquinone radical anion was relatively stable and then its cwESR could be observed. The rate constant of the spin-depolarization of semiquinone radical anion was $2.6{\times}10^5 sec^{-1}$ and the decay of the radical anion was the first order reaction with the rate constant of $3.0{\times}10^2\; sec^{-1}$. No CIDEP of semiquinone radical anion was observed in the mixture of PrOH and the lower concentration of TEA than 2 percent. The CIDEP spectrum of the neutral semiquinone radical was detected in the mixture of benzene and TEA with the half-life of 3.0 ${\mu}sec$. The neutral semiquinone radical could not be detected by cwESR. Neither CIDEP nor ESR absorption could be observed in PrOH, TEA or benzene only.
In odor to develop fillet-type seasoner and mixed powder-type seasoner using smoked mackerel as primary material, processing conditions of the mackerel meat and flavoring extract from various materials were examined. The approximate composition of mackerel meat and mixed powde-type seasoner using mackerel as primary material were 10.9 and 11.7%, for moisture 79.1 and 57.2% for crude protein, 5.3 and 2.9% for crude lipid, and 4.3 and 24.6% for crude ash, respectively. It was suitable to simmer raw mackerel in 3% chitooligosaccaride solution at 8$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 min., for the enhancement of reaction their meat and chitooligosaccharide. Considering effect of type of woodsmoke on organoletic properties of mackerel after smoking, oak and mixture(oak wood + citrus wood = 1 : 1) were superior to another woodsmoke, the smoking conditions favoring the most overall preference were 8$0^{\circ}C$, 25min. for smoking time, 20$0^{\circ}C$, 20min. for baking, and 10$0^{\circ}C$. 4hrs. for drying. The optimal material mixing ratio for mixed powder-type seasoner was powder of smoked mackerel 60%, dried anchovy 15%, dried sea tangle 10%. The most appropriate extraction condition of mixed powder seasoner with packing tea bag(10g/bag) was 98$^{\circ}C$ for 5min. in the boiling water.
To assay for antioxidant capacity of natural products considered important in producing human health benefits, a practical and economical method using pellet techniques was developed. A standard visualizing reagent, 1,1diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), was mixed with a water-miscible polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), serving as a solid phase support for the DPPH reagent. A DPPH pellet was prepared by dropping a small volume of the DPPH solution onto PET film, and drying in an oven. The PVA-based DPPH pellet was dissolved into water, in which the water-miscible PVA plays as a non-ionic surfactant to help the DPPH reagent to be dissolved into the solvent. Using the DPPH assay, the antioxidant capacity of water-soluble extracts of black soybean, barley, green tea, and green gram was examined. Among the natural products tested, green tea showed the highest antioxidant capacity. This PVA-based DPPH antioxidant assay can be further applied in the natural food, raw plant material, and health product inspection field.
An anionic polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) were synthesized from the poly (tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG, Mw = 2000 g/mol), mixed isocyanate of dicyclohexylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate $(H_{12}-MDI)$ and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) as anionic site, following a prepolymer mixing process. Triethylamine (TEA) was used as a neutralization agent and the ethylenediamine (EDA) as the chain extender of the prepolymer. The effects of the DMPA molar ratio and aromatic diisocyanate content in the mixed isocyanate on the particle size and viscosity of PUD were studied. Also, the mechanical and thermal properties of the PUD cast films were discussed according to the molar ratio of DMPA and aromatic isocyanate content. It was found that the particle size and the viscosity of an anionic PUD decreased with increasing DMPA molar ratio but increased with increasing aromatic isocyanate (MDI) content in the mixed isocyanate at the constant DMPA content. Tensile strength of the PUD cast films increased and elongation at break decreased with increasing DMPA content at the constant mixed isocyanate molar ratios. In thermal degradation temperature of PUD cast films, the effect of DMPA contents was great but the effect of aromatic isocyanate contents at the low DMPA content was very slight respectively.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of addition levels of coffee and green tea by products extract including polyphenols through hot water extraction on rumen fermentation. The treatment groups consisted of coffee extract (CO), green tea extract (GR) and mixed extract (MIX), and the addition level was 10 µL, 20 µL and 30 µL of three levels. The experiment consisted of a total of 10 experimental groups including the control group, and a full factorial design was used. The effect of polyphenol addition in coffee and green tea by-products was analyzed through main and interaction effect of statistical analysis. The total polyphenol content of the extracts was 106.15, 79.10 and 185.25 ㎍ GAE/g DM for coffee by-product, green tea by-product and mixture, respectively. Total gas production was significantly lower in the treatment groups than in the control (114.00 mL/gDM) (p<0.05). Methane emission tended to decrease as the polyphenol addition level increased. Moreover, the MIX showed the lowest methane emission when 30 µL was added (p<0.05). Volatile fatty acids showed a significant difference compared to the treatment group as a control (98.06 mM) (p<0.05), but there was no change according to the level of polyphenols. As a result of the main effect and interaction, it is thought that the effect on methane reduction and improvement of rumen fermentation in MIX20 can be expected. In a series of studies, the addition of 20 µL of a blended extract of coffee and green tea by-products is thought to reduce methane to levels that do not inhibit rumen fermentation.

Vegetable fatty acid solid soap requires a drying process for moisture evaporation and hardness after being manufactured through saponification. Although the soap is manufactured by mixing additives mainly from natural ingredients, existing studies have focused primarily on the usability of vegetable solid soap. Consequently, research into the physical properties of vegetable fatty acid solid soap mixed with natural ingredients has been unsatisfactory. Therefore, this study attempted to compare and observe the changes in the physical properties (pH, surface tension, critical micelle concentration, and cleansing power) of solid soap in accordance with the drying period and additives (tea tree E.O and $TiO_2$) using pH paper, the Du Nouy measurement method, sedimentation method, and ultrasound washer. Regardless of the mixture with additives, vegetable fatty acid solid soap showed the same pH, and there was no change in the pH while maintaining pH 8 beginning from the $2^{nd}$ weeks to $12^{th}$ weeks of drying. In addition, as a result of measuring the surface tension and CMC, regardless of the drying period, only the soap added with $TiO_2$ showed an even value of 62.5mg/L, whereas the other soap specimens showed a decline in CMC to 25mg/L on the fourth week of drying. As a result of measuring the detergency, the removal efficiency of vegetable fatty acid solid soap mixed with tea tree E.O and $TiO_2$ and dried for four weeks was 4.50~4.65%, which was higher than that of the vegetable fatty acid solid soap without additives (3.62~3.92%).

To prepare the hollow fiber nanofiltration composite membranes, the poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membrane was hydrophilized with $K_2Cr_2OH$ and $KMnO_4$ aqueous solutions. And then the composite membrane was synthesized on that membrane surfaces using interfacial polymerization with piperazine (PIP) and trimesoyl chloride (TMC). The resulting membranes were characterized in terms of the rejection and flux for NaCl, $CaSO_4$, $MgCl_2$ 100 ppm solution and 300 ppm of NaCl and $CaSO_4$ mixed solution by varying the coating time, drying time, and the concentration of the coating materials. As a result, the higher rejections were shown for $K_2Cr_2OH$ solutionas a hydrophilization material, and the flux was enhanced while the rejection reduced as the hydrophilization time is longer. Also, the rejection increased and the flux reduced as the concentrations of triethyl amine (TEA) and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) were higher. Typically, the rejection 50% and flux 40 LMH for NaCl 100 ppm solution, and the rejection 55% and flux 48 LMH for $CaSO_4$ 100 ppm solution were obtained for the PVDF hollow fiber composite membrane prepared with the conditions of PIP 2 wt% (Triethyl amine (TEA) 7 wt%, SLS 20 wt% mixed solution against PIP concentration) and TMC 0.1 wt%.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of green tea catechin on mixed function oxidase system (MFO), lipofuscin contents, carbonyl value, oxidative damage and the antioxidative defense system in lung of microwave exposed rats. Experimental groups were divided to normal group and microwave exposed group. The microwave exposed groups were subdivided into three groups: catechin free diet (MW-0C) group, 0.25% catechin (MW-0.25C) group and 0.5 % catechin (MW-0.5C) group according to the levels of dietary catechin supplementation. The rats were irradiated with microwave at frequency of 2.45 GHz for 15 min. Experimental animals were sacrificed at 6th day after microwave irradiation. The contents of cytochrome P$_{450}$ contents in MW-0C group was increased to 95% , compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were reduced to 16% and 31%, respectively, compared with MW-0C group. The activity of NADPH-cytochrome P$_{450}$ reductase in MW-0C group was increased to 44%, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were reduced to 12% and 17%, respectively, compared with MW-0C group. The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in MW-0C group was decreased to 21 %, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C group were significantly (p < 0.05) increased, compared with MW-0C group. The activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSHpx) in MW-0C group was significantly decreased, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were recovered to the level of normal group. The thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) content in MW-0C group was increased to 34 %, compared with normal group. Catechin supplementation groups were maintained the level of normal group. The levels of caybonyl value in MW-0C group was increased to 21 %, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were reduced to 14% and 12%, respectively, compared with MW-0C group. The lipofuscin contents in MW-0C group were increased to 23.4 %, compared with normal group. That of MW-0.5C group was significantly reduced, compared with MW-0C group. In conclusion, MFO system was activated and the formation of oxidized protein, lipofuscin was increased and antioxidative defense system was weakened of lung tissue in microwave exposed rats, thus oxidative damage was increased. But it was rapidly recovered to normal level by green tea catechin supplementation.n.

This study has been undertaken to increase availability of native camellia in Jeonnam as a medicinal resource and to isolate the effective components from them. Fresh leaf and flower of camellia, single camellia tea and camellia tea mixed with green tea, herbs were screened for cytotoxicity on MCF -7 (human breast adenocarcinoma pleual effusion), Calu-6 (human pulmonary carcinoma), SNU-601 (human gastric carcinoma) cells. Also their multidrug-resistance reversing activity were evaluated using drug sensitive AML-2/WT and multidrug-resistant AML-2/D100 cells. Among the camellia extracts, young leaf and camellia tea mixed with green tea had strong growth inhibitory effects in below 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL against human cancer cells. In result, young leaf showed the strongest inhibitory effects on MCF -7 ($IC_{50}$/ = 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL ↑), Calu-6 ($IC_{50}$/ = 79 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL), and SNU -601 ($IC_{50}$/ = 39 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL), and AML-2/WT ($IC_{50}$/ = 64 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL). Chemosensitizing effect was the extracts of mature leaf ($IC_{50}$/ = 97 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL, RF=3.0), roasted tea ($IC_{50}$/ = 76 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL, RF = 2.6 ↑) and steam tea ($IC_{50}$/ = 70 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL, RF=2.8 ↑) strongly potentiate vincristine cytotoxicity in AML-2/D100 cells. But their cytotoxicities to both sensitive AML-2/WT and resistant AML-2/D100 cells were in the same order of magnitude. This results indicate that crude extracts of camellia mature leaves would contain some principles which have chemosensitizing activity.
