  • A study on capacitive characteristics of stylus pen for touch panel are progressed in this paper. Also the main factors for capacitive sensitivity are studied. Namely, highly sensitive stylus pen which can be applied to capacitive touch panel are studied based on the analysis of materials and process conditions regardless of pattern shapes. Stylus pen was made of PDMS(Poly-Di-Methyl-Siloxane) and conductive metal powders which does not damage the touch panel surface. We tried to get the advantages of both the properties of soft PDMS and conductive metal powders. We found that potential difference of capacitance change with conductivity of the composite materials(PDMS + metal powders) it implies that during touch process, large voltage difference can be caused by the high conductive materials of stylus pen. Stylus pen made by PDMS with mixed with Ag powders which has large conductivity shows more capacitance change of 1 pF than PDMS with other materials of Ni or C powders.

  • In order to improve the prediction of dynamic behavior in structures, several lower vibration modes from FFT analysis through experiments are used to update the mechanical properties followed by the updated frequencies from numerical analysis. Performance index consists of the sum of error norms between the chosen frequencies and corresponding frequencies from numerical analysis. As an updating process of the natural frequencies, the optimization algorithm based on conjugate gradient method is adopted. The gradient of performance index is calculated using the sensitivity of selected eigenvalues with respect to each design parameter. The mechanical properties of lamina, E$\_$l/, E$\_$2/, .nu.$\_$12/ and G$\_$12/, are design parameters for the updating process. The proposed method is applied to predict the dynamic behavior of composite laminated plates of [0]$\_$8T/ and [.+-.45]$\_$2S/ separately or interchangeably. Also, the mixed case for [0]$\_$8T/ and [.+-.45]$\_$2S/ is exarm'ned to check the possibility for the improved prediction generally. The good agreement is obtained between the measured frequencies and the numerical ones. Based on the results for all the cases studied, the proposed approach has a clear potential in characterizing the mechanical properties of composite lamina.

  • Shortages and delays in a humanitarian logistics system can contribute to the pain and suffering of survivors or other affected people. Humanitarian logistics budgets should be sufficient to prevent such shortages or delays. Unlike commercial supply chain systems, the budgets for relief supply chain systems should be able to satisfy demand. This study describes a comprehensive model in an effort to satisfy the total relief demand by minimizing logistics operations costs. We herein propose a strategic model which determines the locations of distribution centers and the total inventory to be stocked for each distribution center where a flood or other catastrophe may occur. The proposed model is formulated and solved as a mixed-integer programming problem that integrates facility location and inventory decisions by considering capacity constraints and time restrictions in order to minimize the total cost of relief operations. The proposed model is then applied to a real flood case involving 47 disaster areas and 13 distribution centers in Thailand. Finally, we discuss the sensitivity analysis of the model and the managerial implications of this research.

  • In this paper, an overview of the scoping calculation results is provided with respect to criticality and radiation shielding of two KBS-3V type PWR SNF disposal systems and one NWMO-type CANDU SNF disposal system of the improved KAERI reference disposal system for SNFs (KRS+). The results confirmed that the calculated effective multiplication factors (keff) of each disposal system comply with the design criteria (< 0.95). Based on a sensitivity study, the bounding conditions for criticality assumed a flooded container, actinide-only fuel composition, and a decay time of tens of thousands of years. The necessity of mixed loading for some PWR SNFs with high enrichment and low discharge burnup was identified from the evaluated preliminary possible loading area. Furthermore, the absorbed dose rate in the bentonite region was confirmed to be considerably lower than the design criterion (< 1 Gy·hr-1). Entire PWR SNFs with various enrichment and discharge burnup can be deposited in the KRS+ system without any shielding issues. The container thickness applied to the current KRS+ design was clarified as sufficient considering the minimum thickness of the container to satisfy the shielding criterion. In conclusion, the current KRS+ design is suitable in terms of nuclear criticality and radiation shielding.

  • Though Korea has introduced CBP(Cost Based pool) power trading system since 2001, long-term Generation system planning has been executed by government for Cost minimization every 2 years. Until currently the model which is used for Generation system planning and best-mix only considers cost minimization and total yearly or quarterly electricity demand every year. In a view point of one day power supply operation, technical characteristics, like the ramp up/down rate of total generation system, minimum up/down time and GFRQ(Governor Free Response Quantity), are very important. this paper analyzes Optimal Fuel-Mix for 2022 Korea generation system satisfying these constraints of each fuel type and considering pump storage plants, construction cost and $CO_2$ emission charge Using MILP(Mixed Integer Linear Programming) method. Also the sensitivity analysis which follows in future power industry environmental change accomplished.

  • $SnO_X$/Pt thin film gas sensors were fabricated and their performance characteristics were measured. The $SnO_X$/Pt films were deposited by vacuum evaporating the $SnO_2$ target mixed with 2 wt% Pt. The conductivity showed the temperature dependence and the sensitivity to CO gas was proportional to the square root of gas concentration below 2000 ppm. The optimum operating temperature of the fabricated devices was about 300$^{\circ}$C and the response time in 5000 ppm CO gas was about 20 sec.

  • With the advent of the knowledge economy, science and technology resources have played an important role in economic competition, and their optimal allocation has been regarded as very important across the world. Thus, allocation optimization research for regional science and technology resources is significant for accelerating the reform of regional science and technology systems. Regional science and technology resource allocation optimization is modeled as a double-layer optimization model: the entire system is characterized by top-layer optimization, whereas the subsystems are characterized by bottom-layer optimization. To efficaciously solve this optimization problem, we propose a mixed search method based on the orthogonal genetic algorithm and sensitivity analysis. This novel method adopts the integrated modeling concept with a combination of the knowledge model and heuristic search model, on the basis of the heuristic search model, and simultaneously highlights the effect of the knowledge model. To compare the performance of different methods, five methods and two channels were used to address an application example. Both the optimized results and simulation time of the proposed method outperformed those of the other methods. The application of the proposed method to solve the problem of entire system optimization is feasible, correct, and effective.

  • Recently, tremendous application utilizing electrospun nanofibers have been actively reported due to its several advantages, such as high surface to volume ratio, simple fabrication and high-throughput manufacturing. In this paper, we developed highly sensitive and consistent nanofiber humidity sensor by electrospinning. The humidity sensor was fabricated by rapid electrospinning (~2 sec) $TiO_2$/PVP/LiCl mixed solution on the micro-interdigitated electrode. In order to evaluate the humidity sensing performances, we measured current response using DC bias voltage under various relative humidity levels. The results show fast response / recovery time and marginal hysteresis as well as long-term stability. In addition, with the aid of micro-interdigitated electrode, we can reduce a total resistance of the sensor and increase the total reaction area of nanofibers across the electrodes resulting in high sensitivity and enhanced current level. Therefore, we expect that the electrospun nanofiber array for humidity sensor can be feasible and promising for diverse humidity sensing application.

  • The use of sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine (SP) for treatment of vivax malaria is uncommon in most malarious areas, but Plasmodium vivax isolates are exposed to SP because of mixed infections with other Plasmodium species. As P. vivax is the most prevalent species of human malaria parasites in Iran, monitoring of resistance of the parasite against the drug is necessary. In the present study, 50 blood samples of symptomatic patients were collected from 4 separated geographical regions of south-east Iran. Point mutations at residues 57, 58, 61, and 117 were detected by the PCR-RFLP method. Polymorphism at positions 58R, 117N, and 117T of P. vivax dihydrofolate reductase (Pvdhfr) gene has been found in 12%, 34%, and 2% of isolates, respectively. Mutation at residues F57 and T61 was not detected. Five distinct haplotypes of the Pvdhfr gene were demonstrated. The 2 most prevalent haplotypes were F57S58T61S117 (62%) and F57S58T61N117 (24%). Haplotypes with 3 and 4 point mutations were not found. The present study suggested that P. vivax in Iran is under the pressure of SP and the sensitivity level of the parasite to SP is diminishing and this fact must be considered in development of malaria control programs.
