  • The hydrogen fuel and fuel cell which have high energy efficiency and low pollutant emission are getting interest as an alternative energies due to the fossil fuel exhaust, green house effect and atmospheric pollutant problems. The hydrogen gas is very effective as an alternative energy. But, if it is leaked into the air it forms the mixed gas with the air then the danger of the explosion is risen up. So, the secure the safety is mostly important. In this research, to detect the leakage of the hydrogen rapidly, added the odorant materials which don't include the sulfur component into the hydrogen gas and researched on the effect of each odorant on the performance of the fuel cell. As the results, setting the cumulation electric power on the basis and comparing the pure hydrogen, 2,3-Butanedione 5ppm mixed gas 86.1%, 5-Ethylidene-2-Norbornene 17ppm mixed gas 88.2%, Isovaleraldehyde 10ppm mixed gas 74.8%, Ethyl Isobutyrate 2.2ppm mixed gas 93.5% of performance was shown.

  • Predicting precise specifications of differential mixed-signal circuits is a difficult problem, because analytically derived correlation between process variations and conventional specifications exhibits the limited prediction accuracy due to the phase unbalance, for most self-tests. This paper proposes an efficient prediction technique to provide accurate specifications of differential mixed-signal circuits in a system-on-chip (SoC) based on a nonlinear statistical nonlinear regression technique. A spectrally pure sinusoidal signal is applied to a differential DUT, and its output is fed into another differential DUT through a weighting circuitry in the loopback configuration. The weighting circuitry, which is employed from the previous work [3], efficiently produces different weights on the harmonics of the loopback responses, i.e., the signatures. The correlation models, which map the signatures to the conventional specifications, are built based on the statistical nonlinear regression technique, in order to predict accurate nonlinearities of individual DUTs. In production testing, once the efficient signatures are measured, and plugged into the obtained correlation models, the harmonic coefficients of DUTs are readily identified. This work provides a practical test solution to overcome the serious test issue of differential mixed-signal circuits; the low accuracy of analytically derived model is much lower by the errors from the unbalance. Hardware measurement results showed less than 1.0 dB of the prediction error, validating that this approach can be used as production test.

  • Theoretical models of radiative transfer are developed to simulate the 85 GHz brightness temperature (T85) observed by the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) Microwave Imager (TMI) radiometer as a function of rain rate. These simulations are performed separately over regions of the convective and stratiform rain. TRMM Precipitation Radar (PR) observations are utilized to construct vertical profiles of hydrometeors in the regions. For a given rain rate, the extinction in 85 GHz due to hydrometeors above the freezing level is found to be relatively weak in the convective regions compared to that in the stratiform. The hydrometeor profile above the freezing level responsible for the weak extinction in convective regions is inferred from theoretical considerations to contain two layers: 1) a mixed (or mixed-phase) layer of 2 km thickness with mixed-phase particles, liquid drops and graupel above the freezing level, and 2) a layer of graupel extending from the top of the mixed layer to the cloud top. Strong extinction in the stratiform regions is inferred to result from slowly-falling, low-density ice aggregates (snow) above the freezing level. These theoretical results are consistent with the T85 measured by TMI, and with the rain rate deduced from PR for the convective and stratiform rain regions. On the basis of this study, the accuracy of the rain rate sensed by TMI is inferred to depend critically on the specification of the convective or stratiform nature of the rain.

  • TIG welding enables to produce high quality weldment. However it has some problems such as shallow penetration and large distortion due to low penetration aspect ratio after welding. In order to overcome those problems, there are many ongoing studies on A-TIG welding, which use active flux. In this study, the effect of arc length and shield gas on penetration aspect ratio with melt-run welding on STS 304 6t, on which active flux was spreaded, was investigated. Arc length was changed from 1mm to 3mm, and aspect ratio became higher as arc length was decreased in this range. 100% Ar gas, Ar-$H_2$ mixed gas, Ar-He mixed gas, and 100% He gas were used as shield gas in this study. When Ar-$H_2$ mixed gas, Ar-He mixed gas, and 100% He gas were applied, penetration and melting efficiency were both increased as compared with 100% Ar gas. Aspect ratio was the highest with Ar-2.5% $H_2$ mixed gas.

  • All the $Ni-Co-Ce-ZrO_2$ mixed oxides are prepared by co-precipitations methods. Methanation of CO and $H_2$ reaction is screened tested over different fractions of cerium (2, 4, 7 and 12 wt.%) over $Ni-Co/ZrO_2$ bimetallic catalysts are investigated. The mixed oxides are characterized by XRD, CO-Chemisorption, TGA and screened methanation of CO and $H_2$ at $360^{\circ}C$ for 3000 min on stream at typical ratio $CO:H_2=1:1$. In $Ni-Co/CeZrO_2$ series 2 wt.% Ce loading catalyst shows most promising catalyst for $CH_4$ selectivity than $CO_2$, which directs more stability with less coke formation. The high activity is attributed to the better bimetallic synergy and the well-developed crystalline phases of NiO, $ZrO_2$ and $Ce-ZrO_2$. Other bimetallic mixed oxides NCoZ, $NCoC^{4-12}Z$ has faster deactivation with low methanation activity. Finally, 2 wt.% Ce loading catalyst was found to be optimal coke resistant catalyst.

  • Selection of training set influences the classification accuracy in supervised classification using satellite imagery. Generally, if pure pixels which character of training set is clear were selected, whole accuracy is high while if mixed pixels were selected, accuracy is decreased because of low-resolution imagery or unclear distinguishment. However, it is too difficult to choose the pure pixels as training set actually. Accordingly, this study should be suggested the suitable classification method in case of mixed pixels choice. To achieve this, a few pure pixels were chosen as training set and classification accuracy was calculated which was compared with classification result using an equal number of mixed pixels. As a result, accuracy of SVM was the highest among the classification method using mixed pixels and it was a relatively small difference with the result of classification using pure pixels. Therefore, imagery classification using SVM is most suitable in the mixed area of construction and green because it is high possibility to choose mixed pixels as training set.

  • Brazilin, an active principle of Caesalprenia sappan, was examined for its immunopotentiating effects in multiple low dose streptozotocin (MLD-STZ) induced type diabetic mice. Brazilin was intraperitoneally administered for 5 consecutive days to MLD-STZ induced type 1 diabetic mice. Delayed type hypersensitivity, Con A-induced proliferation of splenocytes and mixed lymphocyte reaction, which had been decreased in diabetic mice, were significantly recovered by the administration of brazilin. Brazilin increased IL-2 production without affecting suppressor cell activity. Con A-induced and IL-2-induced expression of high affinity IL-2 receptors were also enhanced by brazilin. These results indicate that brazilin augments cellular immune responses, which are suppressed in the MLD-STZ induced type I diabetic mice, by increasing IL-2 production and responsiveness of immune cells to IL-2.

  • A new buffer cache management scheme that aims at reducing power consumption in mixed HDD and NAND flash memory storage systems is presented. The proposed scheme reduces power consumption by considering different energy-consumption rate of storage devices, I/O operation type (read or write), and reference potential of cached blocks in terms of both recency and frequency. Simulation shows that the proposed scheme reduces power consumption by 18.0% on average and up to 58.9%.

  • One of the most difficult problem of designing VLSI is a mixed-circuit design, that is to design circuit containing both analog parts and digital parts. Digital to analog converter and analog to digital converter is a typical case. Especially it can be a serious problem when mixed circuit are put into a large digital circuit like microcontroller. However nowadays this problem is settled by separating analog circuit parts outside the IC. This technique is based on converting a digital signal into a pulse sequence. Then an analog signal is obtained by averaging this pulse sequence at the external low-pass filter. An anlog to digital converter is designed using a stochastic logic instead of a traditional PWM (pulse-width modulation) signal and ins implemente dusing FPGa. Stochastic pulse sequence can be made as a simple circuits and moreover can be mathematically processed by simple circuits -AND gates. The spectral property of stochastic pulse sequence method is better than that of PWM method. So it make easy to design a external low-pass filter. This technique has important advantages, especially the reduction of the ADC cost.

  • Development of the construction industry generally exhausts natural aggregate. Hence it is problem to the lack of supply and quality deterioration, so the resource saving and protection of environment is made an effort through recycling by-product. This study presents that fundamental properties of concrete which used cooper slag as alternate sand of low fineness modulus and plan of cooper slag as concrete aggregate. Testing factors are concrete's slump, air contents, unit weight and compressive strength. The results of this study are as follows; (1) Concrete slump is generally satisfied with the condition but is inferior to the others in substitution rates 30%. Also air contents are 3.1-4.1% and go up according to increase substitution rate. (2) Unit weight increase in 1.1% as the mixing ratio of cooper slag argument 10%. (3) compressive strength of cooper slag concrete is similar to plain and especially higher 11-15% in W/C 45%, 50%. So it seems that aggregate mixed cooper slag is suitable to low water-cement ratio mixture.
