  • The tradeoff of Java's portability is the inefficiency of interpretation. Also, the standard Java class library may not support the platform-dependent features needed by your application. Several solutions have been proposed to overcome these problems, such as JNI, JIT, off-line bytecode compilers. In this paper, we present an mixed-mode execution model which Java virtual machine executes together with native code. This execution model and its translator preserves the ability to dynamically load bytecode, and reduce the difficulties of JNI usages. Our system is more efficient than JIT, and helps programmer to write C implementation for the native method without the concept of JNI.

  • Fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) has been successfully used to enhance the flexural toughness of concrete. As fibers are randomly oriented in FRC, they sometimes produce clumps that reduce the mechanical performance, and a properly chosen mixing protocol can be a way to minimize this problem. In this research, the effects of mixing method on the mechanical properties of FRC were investigated. The compressive strength, flexural strength, and flexural toughness were measured using three different mixing methods. It was shown from the results that the compressive strength and peak flexural load were not affected by changes in mixing method. However, in terms of flexural toughness, the changes in mixing method clearly affected the flexural toughness of FRC. The truck-mixed FRC outperformed two pan-mixed FRCs.

  • Recently, Our planet is faced with very serious problems related to the air pollution due to the exhaust emissions of the diesel engine. So, lots of researchers have studied to reduce the exhaust emissions of diesel engine that influenced the environment strong. But most researchers have mainly studied and suggested the solution of reduction on the total exhaust emissions of diesel engine. In this study, the quantities of the low and high hydrocarbon among the exhaust emissions in diesel engine have been investigated by the quantitative analysis of the hydrocarbon C1~C6 using the gas chromatography. This study carried out by comparing the chromatograms with diesel fuel and mixed fuel which are blended the diesel and DMC(dimethyl carbonate)that includes the oxygen of about 53%. The results of this study show that the hydrocarbon C1~C6 among the exhaust emissions of the mixed fuel are exhausted lower than those of the diesel fuel at the all load.

  • Al-based composites reinforced with SiC particulate were fabricated using a thermal spray process, and dry sliding wear behavior of the composites was investigated. Pre-mixed Al and SiC powders were sprayed on an A16061 substrate by flame spraying, and dry sliding wear test were performed under various sliding speed and applied load conditions against ${Al_2}{O_3}$ ball. Wear behavior of the composites was studied by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). And build-up mechanism of MML on the worn surface of the composites was examined. It was revealed that these MML was formed of debris from the contact surface of the composites and effected to wear behavior of the composites protecting the contact surface of the composites.

  • This study aims to analyze characteristics of environmental load for the construction phase of PSC beam bridge based on Life Cycle Assessment. For detail computation of environmental load, the construction materials and energy consumption are derived from the BOQ, also connecting with environmental load by Korea LCI Database Information Network. The characteristic of environmental impact was analyzed by 25 cases and cut-off ratio was 80% to 94%. The result sorted by construction materials revealed that environmental load were 53.3% for ready-mixed concrete, 9.6% for wire rod, 7.8% for rebar, 6.8% for cement, 5.5% for plywood, and 5.2% for energy. Furthermore, the result of environmental impact revealed that 45.5% for global warming, 30.4% for abiotic resources depletion, 10.5% for human toxicity, and 8.9% for photochemical oxidant creation. In the future, we can make a decision considering environmental load based on LCA at design phase.

  • The flexural behavior of composite sandwich wall panels with different thicknesses, numbers of holes, and hole forms, and arrangement form of longitudinal steel bar (uniform type and concealed-beam type) are investigated. A total of twelve composite sandwich wall panels are prepared, utilizing modified polystyrene particles mixed with foam concrete for the flexural performance test. The failure pattern of the composite sandwich wall panels is influenced by the extruded polystyrene panel (XPS) panel thickness and the reinforcement ratio in combination, resulting in both flexural and shear failure modes. Increasing the XPS panel thickness causes the specimens to transition from flexural failure to shear failure. An increase in the reinforcement ratio leads to the transition from flexural failure to shear failure. The hole form on the XPS panel and the steel bar arrangement form affect the loading behavior of the specimens. Plum-arrangement hole form specimens exhibit lower steel bar strain and deflection compared to linear-arrangement hole form specimens. Additionally, specimens with concealed beam-type steel bar display lower steel bar strain and deflection than uniform-type steel bar specimens. However, the hole form and steel bar arrangement form have a limited impact on the ultimate load. Theoretical formulas for cracking load are provided for both fully composite and non-composite states. When compared to the experimental values, it is observed that the cracking load of the specimens with XPS panels closely matches the calculations for the non-composite state. An accurate prediction model for the ultimate load of fully composite wall panels is developed. These findings offer valuable insights into the behavior of composite sandwich wall panels and provide a basis for predicting their performance under various design factors and conditions.

  • The operation of proceeding bearing in the conditions of misaligned axis of proceeding and bush leads to the load concentration on the bearing edges causing further mixed lubrication conditions, unstable operation and intensive wear of mating parts. For the design process of proceeding bearing the knowledge of static characteristics determined from the oil film pressure and temperature distribution is very important. For the 3-lobe proceeding bearing, the pressure, temperature and viscosity fields, load capacity, minimum oil film thickness, power loss, oil flow and maximum oil film temperature have been determined by iterative solution of the Reynolds', energy and viscosity equations. The paper introduces the results of theoretical investigations of static characteristics of 3-lobe proceeding bearing operating at misaligned axis of proceeding and bush. An effect of misalignment ratio, length to diameter ratio of the proceeding bearing, the lobe clearance ratio on the static characteristics was investigated. Laminar, adiabatic model of oil film for the solution of Reynolds, energy and viscosity equations was applied.

  • The engine performance and combustion characteristics of diesel oil and fish oil blended with diesel oils were investigated at various blending rate of fish oil in a diesel engine. The maximum pressure showed no significant difference among test fuels at low load, but it was higher as the blending rate of fish oil increases at high load. Increasing the blending rate of fish oil, the rate of heat release and burned fraction were higher than those of diesel oil. The ignition delay became longer than that of diesel oil as the blending rate of fish oil increases, and its differences were larger at different loads. The combustion duration and density of smoke were shorter and lower as the blending rate of fish oil increases. The rate of fuel consumption showed no significant difference between diesel oil and fish blended with diesel oils.

  • The portion of lighting power consumption for our country is up to 20~30% of the total amount. Currently, most of the DSM(Demand side management) of lighting power is delivered in supply of high efficient lighting to customers. On the contrary, applications of lighting power to power load leveling are still rare. In this paper, the simulations for various control types of lighting power for load leveling are tried, and we obtained the cost effective and optimal control method through that. This simulation was executed in test office with fluorescent light by us based on applying 8 control types(on, off & dimming), considering customers' satisfaction, for instance, minimum intensity of illumination allowed. According to the result of this test, we found that mixed type(chessboard(on-off) plus dimming control(10%)) is most effective.
