We developed highly efficient blue PHOLEDs with reduced roll-off by using a mixed host structure. The balanced charge carrier injection and the distributed recombination zone within emissive layer resulted in a highly stable efficiency roll-off with quantum efficiencies of 20.1 and 18.1 % at a luminance of 1000 and 10000 cd/$m^2$.
Al-based composites reinforced with SiC particulate were fabricated using a thermal spray process, and dry sliding wear behavior of the composites was investigated. Pre-mixed Al and SiC powders were sprayed on an A16061 substrate by flame spraying, and dry sliding wear test were performed under various sliding speed and applied load conditions against ${Al_2}{O_3}$ ball. Wear behavior of the composites was studied by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). And build-up mechanism of MML on the worn surface of the composites was examined. It was revealed that these MML was formed of debris from the contact surface of the composites and effected to wear behavior of the composites protecting the contact surface of the composites.

This technology is a water leak repair technology using composite materials of concrete structures that block leakage of structures by injecting rapid microcement into the face of underground concrete to block water and injecting flexible glycidylacrylate. Rapid micro cement system repair materials are mixed with fine fibers to improve the flexural sensitivity of the material and to form a layer that blocks stabilized water at the back of the structure by allowing rapid and tight spatial filling during injection with high cohesion The glycidylacrylate repair material can control the expansion rate, and the external stress also has the characteristic that the form of the material is not destroyed or separated, which can also be applied to vibrating induced structures that produce repetitive fatigue loads, and has an effective durability in saline, alkali, acid (chloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid).
The community structure and micro-scale distribution of plankton in relation to hydrography were investigated in Masan Bay, Korea in October 1989. Warmer and less saline waters with stratification was located in the inner part of the Pudo Strait, and chlorophyll-a and nutrients were higher. Both phytoplankton biomass and nutrients was changed dramatically around the Strait. Offshore/oceanic species in phytoplankton i.e., Chaetoceres decipiens, Rhizosolenia stolterforthii, Rhizosolenia styliformis and Ceratium trichoceros and zooplankton i.e., Sagitta enflata, Oncaea uenusta and Oikopluera longicaudata occurred mainly in well mixed waters of the outer part. This suggests that discontinuous layer seems to play an important role as an approximate border for the plankton population. This layer was located between Station 3 and Station 4 near the Pudo Strait, since the layer consisted of a series of micro-scale discontinuties of salinity and dissolved inorganic nutrients gradient. Phytoplankton patchs of more than 801e1 were found only in the inner part of the bay. Depletion of silicate caused by a rapid assimilation of phytoplankton in the inner part of the bay seemed to be responsible for the decline of blooms.
Using air as an insulator due to its low heat transfer coefficient has been studied and has been widely commercialized to save energy in the field of thermal insulation technology. In this study, we analyzed the heat insulating effect of hollow silica nanoparticles mixed in non-uniform size, and the maximum heat insulating efficiency of these particles given the limited number of particles that can be mixed with a medium such as paint. The hollow silica nanoparticles were synthesized via a sol-gel process using a polystyrene template in order to produce an air layer inside of the particles. After synthesis, the particles were analyzed for their insulation effect according to the size of the air layer by adding 5 wt % of the particles to paint and investigating the thermal insulation performance by a heat transfer experiment. When mixing the particles with white paint, the insulation efficiency was 15% or higher. Furthermore, the large particles, which had a large internal air layer, showed a 5% higher insulation performance than the small particles. By observing the difference in the insulation effect according to the internal air layer size of hollow silica nanoparticles, this research suggests that when using hollow particles as a paint additive, the particle size needs to be considered in order to maximize the air layer in the paint.

In order to find out the effects of the anticyclonic eddy on the distribution of nutrients and chlorophyll concentrations in the Ulleung Basin during spring and summer, we measured temperature, salinity, nutrients, and chlorophyll from the surface to 200 m water depth at five stations in July 2005 and April 2006. In spring, surface mixed layer was very deep inside the eddy, about 200 m, but it was relatively shallow outside the eddy, about $20{\sim}60$ m. Inside of the eddy, nutrients in the surface waters were sufficient by supply from the deep layer, whereas outside of the eddy, they were fairly depleted due to the stratification in the surface layer. In spring, chlorophyll concentrations were relatively low inside of the eddy due to the deeper surface mixed layer compared with the euphotic depth, and the depth-integrated chlorophyll concentrations outside of the eddy were twice as much as those inside of the eddy. In summer, nutrients in the surface waters were completely depleted at all stations due to the well stratification in the surface layer. The typical distribution pattern of subsurface chlorophyll maximum was observed at all stations, and the depth-integrated chlorophyll concentrations inside of the eddy were almost twice as much as those outside of the eddy. The anticyclonic eddy appearing in the Ulleung Basin every year significantly affects the phytoplankton biomass, with the opposing effects in spring and summer; in spring, the anticyclonic eddy suppresses phytoplankton growth, but in summer, it enhances the phytoplankton biomass.
A layer channel, which can express effects on 3D image, is inserted to use it on application rendering effectively. The current method of effect rendering requires individual sources in storage and image processing, because it uses individual and mixed management of images and effects. However, we can save costs and improve results in images processing by processing both image and layer channels together. By changing image format to insert a layer channel in image and adding a hide function to conceal the layer channel and control to make it possible to approach image and layer channels simultaneously during loading image and techniques hiding the layer channel by changing image format with simple techniques, like alpha blending, etc., it is developed to improve reusability and be able to be used in all programs by combining the layer channel and image together, so that images in changed format can be viewed in general image viewers. With the configuration, we can improve processing speed by introducing image and layer channels simultaneously during loading images, and reduce the size of source storage space for layer channel images by inserting a layer channel in 3D images. Also, it allows managing images in 3D image and layer channels simultaneously, enabling effective expressions, and we can expect to use it effectively in multimedia image used in practical applications.
Forest soils mixed with organic matters (green needle, flesh needle litter and needle litter in F layer of Pinus koraiensis, and green leaf of Quercus dentata and Q. variabilis) were incubated under a constant $30^{\circ}C({\pm}1)$ for 53 days to measure the changes of inorganic nitrogen and $CO_2$ evolution rate. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1) In the early incubation period the amounts of total inorganic nitrogen in soils by mixture of organic matters decreased rapidly because of immobilization by microbial uptake, and thereafter their amounts increased with further incubation. 2) The rate of immobilization of organic nitrogen in mixed organic matters was the highest in green needle among green needle, flesh needle litter and needle litter in F layer of P. koraiensis, but lower than that of green leaf of Q. variabilis and Q. dentata. 3) The rates of $CO_2$ evolution from soils mixed with organic matters increased sharply in the early time, and then decreased slowly with increasing time. The order of the $CO_2$ evolution rate was green leaf of Q. variabilis > green leaf of Q. dentata > green needle of P. koraiensis > flesh needle litter of P. koraiensis > needle litter of P. koraiensis in F layer from the largest to the least. 4) Nitrate nitrogen concentrations showed a tendency to increase throughout incubation time, so that their concentrations after 53 days were higher than that of ammonium nitrogen.

In order to investigate the possibility of using mixed rare earth $(Nd_{1/3}Eu_{1/3}Gd_{1/3})Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (NEG123) as the superconducting layer of the HTS coated conductor, the NEG123 thin film was deposited epitaxialy on LAO(100) single crystal and IBAD_YSZ metal templates by pulsed laser deposition. Systematic studies were carried out to investigate the influences of deposition parameters of PLD on the micro structure, texture and superconducting properties of NEG-123 coated conductor. Deposition at oxygen partial pressure of 600 mTorr was needed to routinely obtain high quality NEG123 films with $J_c$'s (77K) over 2 MA/$cm^2$ and Tc's over 90K (${\Delta}T{\sim}2\;K$). We verified from magnetization study that the NEG123 has an improved in-field Jc as the field increases at temperatures between 10 K and 77 K compared with Gd123. The $J_c$ (77K, self field) and the value of onset $T_c$ of NEG123 thin film on LAO substrate was $4.0MA/cm^2$ and 92K, respectively. This is the first report, to the best of our knowledge, of coated conductors with NEG123 film as the superconducting layer which have Ic and Jc over 40 A/cm-width and 1.6 MA/$cm^2$ at 77K, self field. This study shows the possibility of using NEG123 film as the superconducting layer of the HTS coated conductor which can be used in high magnetic field power electric devices.

The growth of Si on 4H-SiC substrate has a wide range of applications as a very useful material in power semiconductors, bipolar junction transistors and optoelectronics. However, it is considerably difficult to grow very fine crystalline Si on 4H-SiC owing to the lattice mismatch of approximately 20 % between Si and 4H-SiC. In this paper, we report the growth of a Si epilayer by an Al-related nanostructure cluster grown on a 4H-SiC substrate using a mixed-source hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) method. In order to grow hexagonal Si on the 4H-SIC substrate, we observed the process in which an Al-related nanostructure cluster was first formed and an epitaxial layer was formed by absorbing Si atoms. From the FE-SEM and Raman spectrum results of the Al-related nanostructure cluster and the hexagonal Si epitaxial layer, it was considered that the hexagonal Si epitaxial layer had different characteristics from the general cubic Si structure.
