In order to investigate the characteristics of unsteady flow in a mixed flow pump guide vane under the small flow conditions, several indicator points in a mixed flow pump guide vane was set, the three-dimensional unsteady turbulence numerical value of the mixed flow pump which is in the whole flow field will be calculated by means of the large eddy simulation (LES), sub-grid scale model and sliding mesh technology. The experimental results suggest that the large eddy simulation can estimate the positive slope characteristic of head & capacity curve. And the calculation results show that the pressure fluctuation coefficients of the middle section in guide vane inlet will decrease firstly and then increase. In guide vane outlet, the pressure fluctuation coefficients of section will be approximately axially symmetrical distribution. The pressure fluctuation minimum of section in guide vane inlet is above the middle location of the guide vane suction surface, and the pressure fluctuation minimum of section in which located the middle and outlet of guide vane. When it is under the small flow operating condition, the eddy scale of guide vane is larger, and the pressure fluctuation of the channel in guide vane being cyclical fluctuations obviously which leads to the area of eddy expanding to the whole channel from the suction side. The middle of the guide vane suction surface of the minimum amplitude pressure fluctuation to which the vortex core of eddy scale whose direction of fluid's rotation is the same to impeller in the guide vane adhere.

The effect of radiation and buoyancy on the thermophoresis phenomenon owing to the presence of highly absorbing, emitting particles (such as soot or pulverized coal) suspended in a two phase flow system was investigated numerically for a turbulent mixed convection flow. The analysis of conservation equations for a gas-particle flow system was performed on the basis of a two-fluid model from a continuum Eulerian viewpoint. The modified van Driest and Cebeci mixing length turbulence model was adopted in the anaylsis of turbulent flow. In addition, the P-1 approximation was used to evaluate the radiation heat transfer. As expected from the particle concentration and drift velocity distribution, the cumulative collection efficiency E (x) becomes larger when the buoyancy effect increases (i.e. higher Grashof number), while smaller as the radiation effect increases (i.e. higher optical thickness).

This paper deals with the CFD analysis of cavitating flow in the mixed-flow pump with the specific speed of 1.64 which suffers from a high level of noise and vibrations close to the optimal flow coefficient. The ANSYS CFX package has been used to solve URANS equations together with the Rayleigh-Plesset model and the SST-SAS turbulence model has been employed to capture highly unsteady phenomena inside the pump. The CFD analysis has provided a good picture of the cavitation structures inside the pump and their dynamics for a wide range of flow coefficients and NPSH values. Cavitation instabilities were detected at 70% of the optimal flow coefficient close to the NPSH3 value (NPSH3 is the net positive suction head required for the 3% drop of the total head of the pump).
Mixed convection in a horizontal annulus is considered, and the effect of a forced flow on the natural convective flow is investigated. The inner cylinder is hotter than the outer cylinder, and the outer cylinder is rotating with constant angular velocity with its axis at the center of the annulus. The unsteady streamfunction-vorticity equation is solved with a finite difference method. For the fluid with Pr=0.7, there appear flows with two eddies, one eddy, or no eddy according the Rayleigh and Reynolds numbers. The rotation of the outer cylinder reduces the heat transfer rate at the wall of the annulus. The oscillatory multicellular flow of a low Prandtl number fluid with Pr=0.01 can be effectively suppressed by the forced flow.
Nonlinear vibration and instability of cylindrical shell conveying fluid-nanoparticles mixture flow are studied in this article. The surrounding elastic medium is modeled by Pasternak foundation. Mixture rule is used for obtaining the effective viscosity and density of the fluid-nanoparticles mixture flow. The material properties of the elastic medium and cylindrical shell are assumed temperature-dependent. Employing first order shear deformation theory (FSDT), the motion equations are derived using energy method and Hamilton's principal. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is used for obtaining the frequency and critical fluid velocity. The effects of different parameters such as volume percent of nanoparticles, boundary conditions, geometrical parameters of cylindrical shell, temperature change, elastic foundation and fluid velocity are shown on the frequency and critical fluid velocity of the structure. Results show that with increasing volume percent of nanoparticles in the fluid, the frequency and critical fluid velocity will be increases.
In this study, nonlinear vibration and stability of a polymeric pipe reinforced by single-walled carbon naotubes (SWCNTs) conveying fluid-nanoparticles mixture flow is investigated. The Characteristics of the equivalent composite are determined using Mori-Tanaka model considering agglomeration effects. The surrounding elastic medium is simulated by orthotropic visco-Pasternak medium. Employing nonlinear strains-displacements, stress-strain energy method the governing equations were derived using Hamilton's principal. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is used for obtaining the frequency and critical fluid velocity. The influence of volume percent of SWCNTs, agglomeration, geometrical parameters of pipe, viscoelastic foundation and fluid velocity are shown on the frequency and critical fluid velocity of pipe. Results showed the increasing volume percent of SWCNTs leads to higher frequency and critical fluid velocity.

An experimental Investigation was performed to study the characteristics of Electro-Rheological fluid flow in a horizontal rectangular tube with or without D.C electric field control. First, the microscopic behavior of the ER suspension structure between rectangular tube brass electrodes for the stationary ER nut(i and flow of the ER fluid was investigated by flow visualization. The flow of the ER fluid between fluid rectangular tube was solved experimental using the constitutive equation for a Bingham fluid. ER fluid is made silicon oil mixed with $0.2wt\%$ starch having hydrous particles. Velocity distributions of the ER fluids were obtained by particle image velocimetry measuring those of the clusters using an image processing technique.

Experiment and numerical calculation have been peformed to investigate mixed convection heat transfer between inclined parallel plates. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) with thermo-sensitive liquid crystal (TLC) tracers is used for visualizing and analysis. This method allows simultaneous measurement of velocity and temperature fields at a given instant of time. Quantitative data of the temperature and velocity are obtained by applying the color-image processing to a visualized image, and neural network is applied to the color-to-temperature calibration. The governing equations are discretized using the finite volume method. The results are presented for the Reynolds number ranges from 0.004 to 0.062, the angle of inclination, ${\Theta}$, from 0 to 45 degree and Prandtl number of the high viscosity fluid is 909. The results show velocity, temperature and mean Nusselt numbers distributions. It is found that the periodic flow of mixed convection between inclined parallel plates is shown at $0^{\circ}{\leq}{\Theta}<30^{\circ}$, Re<0.062, and the flow pattern can be classified into three patterns which depend on Reynolds number and the angle of inclination. The minimum Nusselt numbers occur at Re=0.05 regardless of the angle of inclination.
The seawater lift pump system is responsible for maintaining the open canal level to provide the suction flow of circulating water pump at the set point. The objective of this paper is to design a 2-stage mixed flow pump (for seawater lifting) by inverse design method and to evaluate the overall performance and the local flow fields of the pump by using a commercial CFD code. Rotating speed of the impeller is 1,750 rpm with the flow rate of 2,700 $m^3$/h. Finite volume method with structured mesh and realized k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulent model is used to guaranty more accurate prediction of turbulent flow in the pump impeller. The numerical results such as static head, brake horse power and efficiency of the mixed flow pump are compared with the design data. The simulated results are good agreement with the design data less 3% error.
Supercritical Fluid Chromatography(SFC) has been developed as an analytical technique for the compounds that is difficult to analyze by conventional chromatography. Since supercritical fluid $CO_2$ is difficult to elute solutes with high polarity, modified supercritical $CO_2$, was used as a mobile phase. In conventional method, silica column which is saturated with modifier was used. However, with this method, we can not control the quantity of modifier. In this paper, we developed a new method which can control quantity of modifier mixed in supercritical fluid $CO_2$. The quantity of $H_2O$ mixed was measured with amperometric microsensor which was made by perflurosulfonate ionomer(PFSI) film. we have also obtained a good supercritical fluid chromatogram of PAH mixture by use of a modifier composition programming method.
