Studies on Development of Fuel Substitute for Diesel Engine with Seed Oil of Evodia Daniellii (쉬나무 종실유의 디젤기관 대체연료 개발에 관한 연구 - Engine 성능 및 견인력을 중심으로 -)

  • To know the possibility of fuel substitution for Diesel engine with the seed oil of Evodia daniellii, which is one of the native oil seed trees in Korea. the refined seed oil mixed with light oil in the various rates was tested in the 8 PS Diesel engine: the output, the fuel consumption rate, the governor performance, the rpm stability in the total loading condition. the content of graphite in the burned gas, and the traction coefficients at the different gear stages were maintained The following results were discussed. 1. The output at the normal revolution (2200rpm)was increased as the percent seed oil increased. At the lower rpm (2000-1500rpm )there were no consistent difference in the outputs among fuels of the different percent seed oil 2. The rate of fuel consumption was inclosed as the percent seed oil increased in each loading condition. 3. The more percent sud oil was mixed in the fuel. the better governor performance appeared at both the instantaneous and stable speed. 4. The more percent seed oil was mixed In the fuel, the more stable rpm ratio was maintained 5. The graphite content In the burned gas was increased as the load increased, but there was no apparent difference in the content at each load among the 100$\%$ seed oil, the 100$\%$ light oil, and the mixtures in various rates. 6. In all fuel mixtures the maximam traction coefficent appeared at the third transmission gear stage. Generally in over all transmission gear stages the fuel mixtures of the seed oil:light oil ratio from 7:3 to 5:5 resulted greater traction force than the other fuels.

A Study on the Equipment Allocation using Reliability Optimization with Discrete Functions (이산함수를 사용한 신뢰도 최적화에 의한 장치 선택에 관한 연구)

  • This study introduces a method that selects equipments, so as to reach the reliability level, carrying out an optimization analysis which considers the reliability data and cost of the equipments. A more practical optimization problem has been formed using the object function based on the discrete function and the constraints. The jacked reactor being the subject, an optimization analysis was performed on equipments that have different failure rates depending on costs in order to reach the target reliability level required by the system. The mixed-integer programming (MIP) was used for this optimization analysis. When the jacked reactors target level of reliability was $1.65{\times}10^{-4}$, the result of the analysis showed the equipments with high cost and low failure rate were selected. However when the target level of reliability was low, the result showed that by choosing the equipments with lower cost and reliability over the more expensive one, the desired target level could be reached.

  • The membrane-based CO2 capture is a fast-growing branch in gas separating field. Ionic liquid assisted mixed matrix membrane (MMM), which consists of organic fillers with dispersed ionic liquid, shows high potentiality as a candidate for CO2 separation medium. In MMM, various kinds of ionic liquid and inorganic filler are incorporated into polymer to enhance gas separating performance. Especially, the strong interaction between ionic liquid and organic filler gives huge influence on enhancing the separating performance by increasing affinity, selectivity and adsorption of CO2 into the framework. Also the mechanical properties of metal organic framework are positively tuned by input of ionic liquid to improve CO2 permeability and selectivity. In this review, study of various combinations of ionic liquid and metal organic framework (MOF) in the polymeric membrane for carbon dioxide separation is discussed.

Anaerobic treatment of red-bean processing wastewater in a sludge bed reactor (슬러지반응기에서 팥가공폐수의 철기성 처리)

  • Anaerobic treatment of wastewater of the red- bean processing industry was carried out and discussed an anaerobic sludge bed reactor( ASBR) as a preliminary study to evaluate applicability of given processes. The dimension of reactor were same as 0.09m- ID$\times $1.5m- height. The type of substrate and the hydraulic retention time( HRT) were considered as experimental variables. The synthetic wastewater with glucose in the laboratory, the wastewater from the red bean processing industry mixed with synthetic wastewater with variation of mixing percent were fed as substrate. The hydraulic retention time was changed from one day to five days. The gas production, the methane content in produced gas, efficiencies of COD removal and 55 removal were evaluated as principal characteristics. With synthetic wastewater as a substrate and at a hydraulic retention time of one day, characteristics of ASBR was the gas production(12$\ell$/day ), the methane content of produced gas(60%), the efficiency of COD removal(92%) and 55 removal(30%). With the real wastewater and at a hydraulic retention time of one day, the gas production and the efficiency of COD removal of the ASBR decreased with the proportion of real wastewater. The gas production and the efficiency of COD removal with real wastewater only was decreased to 70% and 87% of those with synthetic wastewater only, respectively. However, the methane content in produced gas and the efficiency of 55 removal with real wastewater only was increased significantly by 1.25 times and two times of those with synthetic wastewater only, respectively. Effect of Mixed Treatment of Urea Fertilizer and Zeolite on Nitrous Oxide and Ammonia Emission in Upland Soil

  • Ammonia loss from urea significantly hinders efficient use of urea in agriculture. The level of nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) a long-lived greenhouse gas in atmosphere has increased mainly due to anthropogenic source, especially application of nitrogen fertilizers. There are reports in the literature showing that the addition of zeolite to N sources can improve the nitrogen use efficiency. This study was conducted to evaluate nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) and ammonia ($NH_3$) emission by mixed treatment of urea and zeolite in upland crop field. Urea fertilizer and zeolite were applied at different rates to study their effect on $N_2O$ emission during red pepper cultivation in upland soils. The $N_2O$ gas was collected by static closed chamber method and measured by gas chromatography. Ammonia concentration was analyzed by closed-dynamic air flow system method. The total $N_2O$ flux increased in proportion to the level of N application. Emission of $N_2O$ from the field increased from the plots applied with urea-zeolite mixture compared to urea alone. But urea-zeolite mixture treatment reduced about 30% of $NH_3$-N volatilization amounts. These results showed that the application of urea and zeolite mixture had a positive influence on reduction of $NH_3$ volatilization, but led to the increase in $N_2O$ emission in upland soils.

Gas Chromatographic Analysis on Residual Difenoconazole in Apple and Soil (사과와 토양 중에서 Difenoconazole의 잔류성에 대한 기체 크로마토그래피 분석)

  • The optimum conditions for the analysis of the difenoconazole fungicide on soil and crops were investigated and the residues of that in apple and soil were identified by using the gas chromatography. The extract with acetonitrile was separated with saturated NaCl and n-hexane solution after filtered, and concentrated. Obtained fungicide residues were transfered to the florisil column and eluted with acetone and n-hexane mixed solution for the analysis by GLC(ECD). From the standard addition experiments with 0.20 and 1.0ppm, the average recoveries were 86~92% and the detection limit was 0.01 ppm. It seems to be safely used when difenoconazole is treated three times until 15 days before harvest of apple. In this case residual amounts of difenoconazole in apple was from 0.037ppm to 0.044ppm. The soil samples extracted with methanol and ammonium hydroxide mixed solution were partitioned with dichloromethane and saturated sodium chloride solution. The organic phase was concentrated and redissolved with toluene and analyzed with GLC(FID) after cleaned with Sep-Pak column. From the standard addition experiments with 0.10, 0.50 and 1.0ppm, the average recoveries were 101.2~103.7% and the detection limit was 0.025ppm.

  • BSCCO am films fabricated by using the evaporation method at various substrate temperatures, Tsub and ozone gas pressures $PO_3$. Despite setting the composition of thin film Bi2223, Bi2201, Bi2212 and Bi2223 phase were appeared. It was confirmed the obtained field of stabilizing phase was represented in the diagonal direction of the right below end in the Arrhenius plot of temperature of the substrate and $PO_3$, and it was distributed in the rezone. The XRD peak of the generated film continuously changed according to the substrate temperature. This demonstrates the existence of mixed crystal composition where the phases of Bi2201, Bi2212 and Bi2223 are mixed in the crystal structure; and the single-phase film of each phase exist in a very rezone of temperature and gas pressure.

  • Although Titanium material has superior properties, it belongs to difficult-to-machine materials. The present research applies magnetic abrasive finishing to precision machining of internal-face of titanium pipes, and analyzed & assessed the influence of grinding conditions on magnetic abrasive effects through the removed amount and surface roughness of materials. There was the influence on grinding properties according to change of rotational speed, a total input of mixed powder and an input of grinding liquid, and when the total input, rotational speed and ratio of electrolytic iron versus magnetic abrasives are 8g and 1000rpm, it was most advantageous in aspects of surface roughness and material removal amount, and the grinding liquid remarkably improved the surface roughness and material removal amount only with addition of trace amounts of light oil rather than dry machining conditions. And a result of considering the influence on grinding properties by using an inert gas (Argon gas) for improving grinding properties of the internal-face of titanium pipe, the present research has obtained improvement effects in the removal amount and surface roughness through utilization of an inert gas.

Effect of Different Silages for TMR on In vitro Rumen Simulative Fermentation

  • In this study, the in vitro fermentation parameters of whole crop barley (WCBS-TMR) and Italian ryegrass (IRGS-TMR) silage total mixed rations were compared. A rice straw based diet (RSBD), which was a mixture of rice straw and concentrate (60:40), was used as the control. The feeds were incubated in buffered rumen fluid for 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours at $39^{\circ}C$. At the end of each incubation period the following parameters were determined, total gas, pH, ammonia nitrogen ($NH_3$-N), volatile fatty acids (VFA) and then the acetate to propionate ratio (A/P) was calculated. The dietary treatments did not affect (p>0.05) the overall production of $NH_3$-N, gas, total VFA and all the individual VFA, with the exception of n-butyrate (p<0.001). The treatment diets significantly affected the A/P ratio (p<0.01). The control diet resulted in the lowest A/P ratios, followed by WCBS-TMR and lastly IRGS-TMR had the highest ratios. Gas production was not different between treatments, suggesting a probable similar level of digestibility when treatments are fed to animals. It can therefore be concluded from the present study that WCBS and IRGS are of almost an equivalent nutritional value when incubated in a TMR form. WCBS-TMR however resulted in lower A/P ratios than IRGS-TMR, which is indicative of a more energy efficient diet.

A Study on the Superstructure Optimization of LNG Liquefaction Process (LNG 액화공정 초구조 모델 최적화 연구)

  • Because the expenditure of LNG liquefaction processes are high in a LNG project, it is very important to find a suitable liquefaction process model and optimal operating conditions for a project. Various configurations of LNG liquefaction processes have been suggested, and therefore it takes a lot of time and manpower to compare all of these models in order to select an appropriate liquefaction process for a project. A superstructure model can include multiple options in one model and can contribute to decide the best configuration and operating conditions at the same time. This study developed a superstructure model including multiple process options for SMR (Single Mixed Refrigerant) liquefaction process and optimized it. The results showed that the optimization results of the superstructure model have similar values with optimization results of the separate SMR model.
