A Study on the Growth and Characteristics of Diamond Thin Films by RF Plasma CVD (고주파플라즈마CVD법에 의한 Diamond 박막의 성장과 특성)

  • The diamond particles and films were deposited on Si and qurtz substrate for $CH_4-H_2$ mixed gas by using RF plasma CVD. The temperature of substrate and the thinkness of films deposited on Si substrate were uniformly kept up by inserting metal plate between substrate and substrate holder. On increasing the reaction pressure in the same discharge power, the morphologies of films were changed from well-defind films to micro-crystal or ball-like. When diamond films were deposited on Si substrate from $CH_4-H_2$ mixed gas, we obtained well-defined diamond films at lower concentration than 0.5 vol% of $CH_4/H_2$. The deposited diamond films were indentified by SEM, XRD and Raman spectroscopy.

  • A two-dimensional continuum model for the hydrogen mining phenomena in the containment subcompartment under severe accident conditions has been developed to predict the spatial distribution of the hydrogen concentration. The model can predict the distribution of time-dependent hydrogen concentration for HEDL experiments well. For the simulation of these experiments, the hydrogen is mixed uniform within the test compartment. To predict the extent of non-uniform distribution, the dominant factors such as the geometrical shape of obstacle and velocity of source injection in mixing phenomena are investigated. If the obstacle disturbing the flow of gas mixture exists in the compartment, the uniform distribution of hydrogen might be not guaranteed. The convective circulation of gas flow is separately formed up and down of the obstacle position, which makes a difference of hydrogen concentration between the upper and lower region of the compartment. The recirculation flow must have a considerable mass flow rate relative to velocity of the source injection to sustain the well-mixed conditions of hydrogen. Finally, in order to account for non-uniform distribution of the hydrogen due to the geometrical configuration the maximum-to-average ratio is functionalized.

  • Recently, the environmental problem has received considerable attention. so, many lamps have been developing for environmental requirement and energy efficiency. also, at glow discharge lamp researchers try to reduce energy spending that is power saving lamp. this kind requirement agree with strong points of electrodeless fluorescent lamp has received to now lighting sauce. At low pressure as mTorr I.C.P make high density plasma easily, is good to maintain discharge, has high ionization and does not have failing lighting and losing ability of electron radiation by oxidation and volatilization of electrodes, because this tape does not have electrodes This point of I.C.P can use at electrodeless fluorescent lamp in this study ICP display elements and Ar, Ne, Kr are researched for optical characteristic. each gas is looked into optical characteristic, also mixed gases is experiment for optical characteristic.

  • Fe based ($Fe_{68.2}C_{5.9}Si_{3.5}B_{6.7}P_{9.6}Cr_{2.1}Mo_{2.0}Al_{2.0}$) amorphous powder were produced by a gas atomization process, and then ductile Cu powder fabricated by the electric explosion of wire(EEW) were mixed in the liquid (methanol) consecutively. The Fe-based amorphous - nanometallic Cu composite powders were compacted by a spark plasma sintering (SPS) processes. The nano-sized Cu powders of ${\sim}\;nm$200 produced by EEW in the methanol were mixed and well coated with the atomized Fe amorphous powders through the simple drying process on the hot plate. The relative density of the compacts obtained by the SPS showed over 98% and its hardness was also found to reach over 1100 Hv.

  • Aluminum tri-butoxide was mixed with the water/ethanol solution and then chloroplatinic acid was added to the solution. The solution was dried at $100^{\circ}C$ for 15hrs to remove the solvent and water then it was calcined at $500^{\circ}C$. The catalyst was activated with a gas mixture. During the activation, the temperature was increased from $150^{\circ}C$ to $500^{\circ}C$. The necessary amount of urea was dissolved in 50mL water and injected. Aqueous urea solution was then mixed with the feed gas stream. At low temperatures, nitrogen containing compounds of urea decomposition are used as reductants in the reducton of $NO_X$. However at high temperatures the nitrogen containing compounds are oxidized to NO and $NO_2$ by oxygen instead of being used in the reduction. The activity of the catalyst was dependent on urea concentration in the feed stream when there was not adequate water vapor in the feed. The maximum conversion was shifted from $250^{\circ}C$ to $150^{\circ}C$ when water concentration was increased from 2 to 17%. It seems that the maximum temperature shifts to lower temperatures because the hydrolysis rate of HNCO increases with water, resulting in higher amounts of $NH_3$.

Novel Composite Membranes Comprising Silver Salts Physically Dispersed in Poly(ethylene-co-propylene) for the Separation of Propylene/Propane

  • Novel composite membranes, which delivered high separation performance for propylene/propane mixtures, were developed by coating inert poly(ethylene-co-propylene) rubber (EPR) onto a porous polyester substrate, followed by the physical distribution of $AgBF_4$. Scanning electron microscopy-wavelength dispersive spectrometer (SEM-WDS) revealed that silver salts were uniformly distributed in the EPR layer. The physical dispersion of the silver salts in the inert polymer matrix, without specific interaction, was characterized by FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopy. The high separation performance was presumed to stem from the in-situ dissolution of crystalline silver ionic aggregates into free silver ions, which acted as an active propylene carrier within a propylene environment, leading to facilitated propylene transport through the membranes. The membranes were functional at all silver loading levels, exhibiting an unusually low threshold carrier concentration (less than 0.06 of silver weight fraction). The separation properties of these membranes, i.e. the mixed gas selectivity of propylene/propane ${\sim}55$ and mixed gas permeance ${\sim}7$ GPU, were stable for several days.

  • Characteristics of flow patterns in horizontal gas-liquid two-phase flow for two different sizes of pipe were investigated based upon a statistical analysis of differential pressure fluctuations at an orifice. The probability density function and the power spectral density function of the traces indicate peculiar shapes depending upon the two-phase flow regime. Mixed and separated flows also could be identified by the autocorrelation function. The transition region from separated flow to mixed flow also could be identified by these statistical properties. The experimental data determined by this method were compared with the flow pattern maps suggested by other investigators. The result indicates that the statistical characteristics of differential pressure fluctuations at orifices may be a useful tool for identifying flow patterns of horizontal gas-liquid two-phase flow.

  • We report $EU^{2+}$ activated green phosphor $Ba_{2}CaMgSi_{2}O_{8}:Eu^{2+}$. The phosphor absorbs ultroviolet radation and emits a green visible light. The phosphors were synthesized by conventional solid state reaction method. The high purity $BaCO_3$, $CaCO_3$, MgO, $SiO_2$, $Eu_{2}O_{3}$ were used as raw materials. The raw materials were mixed thoroughly with an appropriate amount of ethanol in an agate mortar and then dried at $90^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The mixture was sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours and reheated at the mild reducing atmosphere 5% $H_2$ gas mixed with 95% $N_2$ gas at about $900^{\circ}C$ to $1200^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The photoluminescence spectra of the phosphor powders were measured by a fluorescent spectrophotometer. The crystal structure of phosphor powders were investigated by X -ray diffractometer.

  • Psoralen(7H-Furo[3.2-g] [1]benzopyran-7-one) and angelicin(2-Oxo-[2H]- furo[2.3-h]-1-benzopyran) are angular furocoumarin with diverse photobiological effects. They are major components of Psoralea corylifolia L.(破古紙). Psoralea corylifolia L. is used for a tonic and nursing one's energy. It can be also used for loss of virility. vitiligo. a skin disease, etc.. But a well known and often appreciated side effects f psoralens is the hyperpigmentation caused by this treatment. A women who used the herbal drug-mixed-medicine named'sobaeksu' to treat her vitiligo made a complaint against the orinetal medical doctor. She complained that her skin got burned to 2nd degree by the liquid. 'sobaeksu' through a medical celtficate. So we analyzed the components of that liquid with gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectometry. It has 57.3% ethyl alcohol and two kinds of psoralens. Psoralens were psoralen and angelicin and each one of their contained quantity was 0.128mg/ml and 0.123mg/ml.

  • There are many of anaerobic culture methods and equipments for isolation and cultivation of anaerabic bacteria, but most of these methods are used without pre-reduced media. Gas-jet method is a recommend. able method for the culture of anaerobes, resently developed. Bacteriological studies were experimented of liver abscess of cattle by the use of gas. jet method. The results were summarised as follows; 1. Gas-jet method for anaerobic culture are expedient for the making of pre-reduced media, maintaining of oxygen free condition in the culture tube, picking of bacteria from colony and colony counting etc. 2. A 121 strains of facultative anaerobic and anaerobic bacteria were isolated from liver abscess of 27 head of cattle, and the isolated anaerobic bacteria were as follows. Peptostreptococcus spp. 7 strains Acid aminococcus fermentans 1 Veillonella spp. 1 Bacterioides spp. 6 Bifidobacterium spp. 4 Arachinia propionica 2 Lactobacillus spp. 4 Propionibacterium acnes 1 3. Liver abscess were infected with many of bacteria, about $10^3-10^9$ numbers per gram of abcessed tissue. Almost of abscess were mixed infection of various bacterial species rather than simple species.
