  • An optimal unit commitment model for efficient management of water and energy resources in a basin using combined mixed integer programming is developed. The combined mixed integer programming model is able to solve the inconsistency problem that may occur from mixed integer programming models. The technique which enables the use of conditional constraints and either-or constraints in the linear programming is also suggested. As a result of applying the combined mixed integer programming model to Lower Colorado River Basin in United States. the basin efficiency is decreased by 1.53% from the results of the mixed integer programming, while it is increased by 0.67% from the results of the historical operation. It is found that the decreased allowable error between power supplies and demands in the combined mixed integer programming causes the decreased basin efficiency.

  • This study was carried out to know the substitute effect of Yacto (leaf mold compost) on popped rice hulls compost (PRHC) in Yang-jik nursery bed of Panax ginseng. PRHC was mixed with Yacto as 50:50 ratio, and 1 ~ 2% of the mixed oil cake, rice bran and urea were also added to promote decaying the mixed compost. The mixed compost made by PRHC and Yacto was showed that positive effect on the growth of ginseng seedling when it was mixed with 1% of oil cake and rice bran, and 2% of mixed oil cake. But addition to the 2% of urea in the mixture of PRHC and Yacto was not positive effect on the growth of ginseng seedling. Root yield of the mixed compost was similar to that of conventional compost by made 100% of Yacto. Therefore, the mixed compost can substitute for Yacto when PRHC and Yacto were mixed by 50:50 ratio and added 1% of oil cake and rice bran.

  • There have been reported by several workers for the isolation and determination of the amine derivatives as Metbylephedrine Hydrochloride and Ephedrine Hydrochloride adopting neutralization method, steam distillation method, non-aqous titration method, ion-exchange resin method, titration method after acetylation, colorimetric method, gravimetric method, iodine titration method and gas chromatography. Those methods mentioned in above, can be practically applied for the sample which is not mixed one mith the other amine compounds. Presently, it has not shown on the isolative determination of the mixed sample of amine derivatives. In this paper, it is discussed on the isolative determination of Methylephedrine Hydrochloride as the tertiary amine compound and Ephedrine Hydrochloride as the secondary amine compound. According to the results of the experiment, it could be summarized as follows: 1. There is no time-variation on the color reaction of Methylephedrine Hydrochloride and Ephedrine Hydrochloride with the color reagent, bromcresolgreen. And Methylephedrine Hydrochloride and Ephedrine Hydrochloride, respectively, can be determined spectrophotometrically by means oft his color reaction. 2. For the isolation of Methylephedrine Hydrochloride and Ephedrine Hydrochloride from the mixed sample, Methylephedrine Hydrochloride can be eluted by chloroform, while Ephedrine Hydrochloride by the mixed solvent of chloroform and ethylalcohol (2:1), from the celite column adsorbed at pH6.4 followed by extraction with ether undersodium hydroxide alkali re action. 3. When the sample is mixed with quinine hydrochloride, dihydrocodeine bitartate, and noscapine, these mixed compounds can be eliminated by means of stram distillation. 4. When the sample is mixed with chlorpheniramine maleate, dextromethorphan hydrobromide and diphenhydramine hydrochloride, the mixed compounds can be eliminated by means of steam distillation and celite adsorption column chromatography, In conclusion, the isolative determination method for Methylephedrine Hydrochloride and Ephedrine Hydrochloride studied in this paper, indicates with the excellent reproducibility and accuracy.

  • In order to improve the efficiency of F$_1$ hybrid seeds production(KF 114), some experiments were carried out in a greenhouse this year. Mother plant(MSNC567) and pollen plant(NC) were grown in some pots (30 x 30cm, WxH). The gathered pollens were mixed with celite, pollen deluent dusts and stored in refrigerator at l$0^{\circ}C$ before pollination. To establish the critical range of the mixed rate and the storage period of pollens, the change in a percent of capsule set, number of seed and seed weight per capsule, weight of 1000 seeds and germination percent of seed resulted of pollination with pollen deluent dusts were investigated. The results are as follows; Percent of capsule set showed the mixed rate 1:5 resulted in no difference and those of 1:10 and 1:20 decreased about 5 ~15% when compared with trials using pollen alone. There was no difference among duration of storage in a same mixed rate. Numbers of seed per capsule showed a significant difference among the mixed rates and among durations of storage. Numbers of seed per capsule were decreased about 55 ~ 90 % as the mixed rate increase, about 2 ~ 28 % as the duration of storage increase. Weight of seed per capsule decreased about 16 ~ 23 % as the duration increase and decreased about 3 ~ 89 % as the mixed rate increase when compared with trials using pollen alone. Weight of 1000 seeds showed non significant difference among duration of storage but were higher than trials used pollen alone as the mixed rate increase.

  • Formation and characterization of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on various surfaces are the essential basis for many other applications, including molecular switches, biosensors, microfluidics, and fundamental studies in surfaces and interfaces. To improve the performance at these applications, it is a key to control the quantity of each molecule in various mixed SAMs on the surface. In this study, using mixed SAM of carbamate-based hydroquinone (HQ)-PhBr and11-mercaptoundecanol, the quantitative mass spectrometric method of mixed SAM was developed based on comparison study with XPS and FT-IR methods. In addition, our method was applied to another mixed SAM of biotinylated PEG alkane thiol and 11-mercaptoundecanol for verification purpose. Time-of-flight secondary mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) analysis was performed to identify and quantify each molecule of mixed SAM along with principal component analysis (PCA). Since there is no matrix effect in the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) techniques, we compared ToF-SIMS results with XPS and FT-IR results. Because PCA results from ToF-SIMS analysis are well matched with XPS and FT-IR results from both mixed SAMs, we are expecting that our method will be useful to identify and quantify each molecule in various mixed SAMs.

  • This paper presents a method for evaluating the mixed nash equilibria of the Cournot model for N-Gencos. in wholesale electricity market. In the wholesale electricity market, the strategies of N-Genco. can be applied to the game model under the conditions which the Gencos. determine their stratgies to maximize their benefit. Generally, the Lemke algorithm is evaluated the mixed nash equlibria in the two-player game model. However, the necessary condition for the mixed equlibria of N-player are modified as the necessary condition of N-1 player by analyzing the Lemke algorithms. Although reducing the necessary condition for N-player as the one of N-1 player, it is difficult to and the mixed nash equilibria participated two more players by using the mathmatical approaches since those have the nonlinear characteristics. To overcome the above problem, this paper presents the generalized necessary condition for N-player and proposed the object function to and the mixed nash equlibrium. Also, to evaluate the mixed equilibrium through the nonlinear objective function, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) as one of the heuristic algorithm are proposed in this paper. To present the mixed equlibria for the strategy of N-Gencos. through the proposed necessry condition and the evaluation approach, this paper proposes the mixed equilibrium in the cournot game model for 3-players.

  • We analyzed the mixed culture characteristics of isolated brewing fungi obtained from Korean traditional nuruk for their development as fermentation starters. In a previous study, we selected appropriate fungi strains based on their large fungi bodies and strong enzyme activities. These fungi strains were mixed cultured under various combination of ratios, pHs and temperatures. As a result, total acidities of R. delemar mixed culture media were higher than those of A. oryzae cultured at $20^{\circ}C$ and $37^{\circ}C$. The pHs of A. luchuensis 34-1 and A. oryzae 37-7 as well as R. delemar 58-8 and A. oryzae 37-7 mixed culture media gradually increased with the culture period. On the contrary, total acidities of the mixed culture media gradually decreased. ${\alpha}-Amylase$ activities of R. delemar 26-4 and R. oryzae 82-7 mixed culture media were strong at $20^{\circ}C$ and pH 4, glucoamylase activities of R. delemar 58-8 and A. oryzae 37-7 were strong at $37^{\circ}C$, pH 3 and 1:2 ratio, and acidic protease activities of R. delemar 26-4 and A. oryzae 78-5 were strong at $20^{\circ}C$, pH 4 and 1:4 ratio. This study provides the optimal mixed culture conditions for fermentation starters based on changes in pH and total acidity, favorable enzyme activities, and fungi varieties.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the difference of Zoysia matrella's evaporation in between 100 percent soil and mixed soil with 50 percent of perlite to create green spaces on the artificial ground. It is believed that the weight against the artificial ground will be reduced, provided the vegetation is possible in the circumstance of the mixed sol with 50 percent of perlite. The study employed a modified Makkink's model by Iwasa who had developed the model for estimating Zoysia matrella's evaporation in the natural ground using the Makkink's formula in 1997 at Chiba University, Japan. The parameter of Makkink's formula is the solar radiation. For that reason, the Makkink's formula is simple and easy to measure the parameter and has a high utility. If the outcomes from mixed soil are close to modified Makkinks formula, the modified Makkink's formula will be applied to estimate in the artificial ground with mixed soil with 50 percent of perlite. Weather observation and actual amount of evaporation of Zoysia matrella have been measured, and the relation between weather condition and actual amount of evaporation had been also investigated. In line with this, we found out that there is a relevant relationship between daily average temperature, the modified Makkink's model by Iwasa, and the actual amount of evaporation. As the results of the experiment, the outcomes from mixed soil with 50 percent of perlite have very high relation to 100 percent soil. In addition, mixed soil has more adhesion with water than natural soil. However, it needs to be adequately maintained in terms of fertilization and damage from disease and harmful insects until the gras fastens its roots into the soil. By using mixed soil with 50 percent of perlite, the load from soil on the artificial ground can be reduced. The study on the growth of the grass throughout the plant vegetation and the actual amount of evaporation in the mixed soil with 50 percent of perlite should be performed in the future.

  • The P-T characteristics of mixed refrigerant in thermostatic expansion valve sensing bulb were studied using R-134a and R-410A refrigerant. The characteristics of mixed refrigerant were investigated according to pressure variation and the variation of composition ratio of R-134A and R-410A in the temperature range of $-15^{\circ}C{\sim}15^{\circ}C$. The Thermodynamic characteristic values of the mixed refrigerants were identified using the characteristic value analysis program of mixed refrigerant(Refrop v9.0, NIST). The P-T characteristics in the case of the mixing ratio of 90:10 for R-410A and R-134A were the same result as R-22. And the physical properties showed similar results with R-22. The Maximum operating pressure(MOP) of mixed refrigerant showed a tendency to decrease with decreasing the mixing ratio of additive gases($N_2$ or He) gases. The characteristics in the case of the mixing ratio of 80:1 for mixed refrigerant and additive gases were the similar result as Reference refrigerant.(R-22 MOP, Sporlan company) In addition $N_2$ and He, both showed the same results. It was able to confirm that a MOP on the thermostatic expansion valve sensing bulb can be maintained by adjusting the mixing ratio of mixed refrigerant gases and additive gases.

  • A marine SCR System is emerging as an alternative to comply with NOx Tier III Emission standards, a restriction on greenhouse gas from vessels implemented by the International Maritime Organization. The system is greatly affected by the uniformity of the fluid flowing into the catalyst, so the performance of the catalyst of an SCR system needs to be guaranteed. This study conducted research on a mixed evaporator of an SCR system, which is one of the factors affecting the uniformity of the fluid. When the angle of the mixed evaporator is set to $90^{\circ}$, the fluid uniformity is at its highest at 83%, under the condition that the length of the mixed evaporator be 3.5 D. When the length was 3.5 D and less, the fluid uniformity had a tendency to improve relative to the case without a bent pipe. However, a longer mixed evaporator results in a more perfect liquidity development in the pipe with a liquidity distribution similar to the case where no curved pipe is formed in front of the catalyst. A lower angle for the mixed evaporator results in a lower flow uniformity, and a longer length of the mixed evaporator results in a lower difference in the flow uniformity caused by the angle. The flow uniformity can be improved by 6% with a mixed evaporator, which confirmed that all factors applied to an SCR system have a close relationship with the efficiency.
