The purpose of this research is to study India's traditional embroidery method, Mirror Work, and to evaluate the examples of contemporary costumes as well as the applications of art to clothing that have been influenced by this technique, in order to expand its usage for creation of a new fashion image. Research in the literature and application of works related to Mirror Work have demonstrated: First of all, as a traditional embroidery method that represents the folk art of India, Mirror Work displays unique methods used in different regions and the way that various methods and materials were combined by the use of mirrors, beads, and $appliqu{\acute{e}}$. Secondly, it was found that the presentation of Mirror Work in the $pr{\hat{e}}t$-a-porte collection is based on a traditional embroidery method using both developed materials and adapted methods to express traditional reproducibility, geometric simplicity, and aesthetic characteristics of complex decorations. Thirdly, new plasticity for art to wear clothing can be created through various methods aside from embroidery, for example by a technique of wrapping crochet laces and tapes around the mirror for decorative purposes. Based on these results it can be inferred that, from the perspective of multiple forms for decorations, Mirror Work shares multiple forms of personal aesthetic goals through the mirror's unique quality for expression and enhanced images of artistic decorative art. Also, the introduction of traditional materials and methods for today's folk art and traditional costumes can be the subject of unique aesthetic characteristics based on different perspectives of the recreation of tradition. Finally, it can further create a new plasticity within the globalization phenomena.
Purpose: To demonstrate arthroscopically the presence of bilateral shoulder "mirror lesions" due to overhead work. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed in a historical cohort of 10 male tire plant workers who underwent MRI studies of both shoulders. Bilateral intraarticular shoulder pathology was diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging and confirmed by arthroscopy. "Mirror lesions" were defined as similar pathology between an individual patient's two shoulders. Results: We report on ten patients who had bilateral "mirror lesions." The most common mirror lesions were tears of the rotator cuff. Most patients (7 of 10) had more than one mirror lesion in their shoulders. There were two bilateral full thickness tears involving the supraspinatus and infraspinatus, four bilateral partial thickness supraspinatus tears, six bilateral partial or upper corner lesion complete subscapularis tears, and one bilateral complete supraspinatus tear. Conclusion: Occupational overhead work with simultaneous use of both arms is associated with bilateral shoulder lesions verified by arthroscopy. By demonstrating the work-related bilateral shoulder involvement, this study suggests an etiopathogenesis for these lesions and provides rational for developing worksite prevention strategies.

IoT utilized network vitalization between objects are being rapidly established within current IT communication environment. Therefore the worth of smart mirrors is rising for it is a tool to allow online network between objects to be possible in human communication environment. For effective IoT generation's communication, this research intends to evaluate the smart mirror's value for practical uses based on the users' experiences. For the UX evaluation according to the locations where it will be used, Peter Morville's Honeycomb model and Jocob Nielsen's usage evaluation principles were referred to analyze effectiveness of 4 factors, utilization convenience, communication effectiveness, mass interest and space adequateness on households, public places and work places. Hence, we have were led to an objective result through statistical analysis method based on survey. As a result, we have confirmed the smart mirror's positive influence on the users' effective communication in all places. Especially in households, utilization convenience and space adequateness appeared to be high that confirmed sufficient users' need for the home-automation services. In public places, the communication effectiveness and space adequateness ranked high to confirm that the smart mirror utilization is adequate to provide location information. Also, in work places, the mass adequateness was high that we were able to confirm that supply of work place-specific service contents would bring meaningful results to the users. The smart mirrors are the adequate method to provide effective communication in IoT generation with high possibilities in further development.
A new measurement method to measure vibrational motions of objects is presented. The original principle is similar to the previous work that utilized a 3-facet mirror to obtain three dimensional positions and orientations of rigid bodies. While the previous work was presented for only stationary objects, in this paper, we newly investigate the feasibility of this method for dynamic applications. The 3-facet mirror that looks like a triangular pyramid having an equilateral cross-sectional shape. The mirror has three lateral reflective surfaces inclined 45 degrees to its bottom surface, and its mounted on the object whose motion is to be measured, As optical components, a He-Ne laser source and three position-sensitive detectors(PSD) are used. The laser beam is emitted from the He-Ne laser source located at the upright position and vertically incident to the top of the 3-facet ...

A large area micro mirror is an optical element that functions as changing an optical path by reflection in integrated optical system. We fabricated the large area silicon mirror by anisotropic etching using MEMS for implementation of integrated optical pickup. In this work, we report the optimum conditions to better fabricate and design, greatly improve mirror surface quality. To obtain mirror surface of $45^{\circ},\;9.74^{\circ}$ off-axis silicon wafer from (100) plane was used in etching condition of $80^{\circ}C$ with 40wt.% KOH solution. After wet etching, polishing process by MR fluid was applied to mirror surface for reduction of roughness. In the next step, after polymer coating on the polished Si wafer, the Si mirror was fabricated by UV curing using a trapezoid bar-type way structure. Finally, we obtained peak to valley roughness about 50 nm in large area of $mm^2$ and it is applicable to optical pickup using blu-ray wavelength as well as infrared wavelength.

Calibration mirror mechanism has been widely used for on-board calibration with black body. The calibration mirror is deployed to reflect the radiation energy from the black body to the image sensor for calibrating the sensor system. After the calibration, the calibration mirror is stowed not to hide a main optical path. It also has a fail-safe function which can stow the mirror by just removing the input power of motor when the calibration mirror is stopped at certain position during the calibration. In the present work, the operation concept, design, torque analysis and functional test results of the calibration mirror mechanism with the aforementioned function have been introduced and investigated.

This work proposes a two-dimensional (2-D) laser scanning mirror actuator with a simple structure composed of one magnet and four coils. The mirror-actuating device generates 2-D scanning motions about two orthogonal axes by combining electromagnetic actuators of the conventional moving-magnet types. The magnet is attached to back side of the mirror placed inside of the moving frame. The four coils is placed on the base frame in a cross shape. We implement a finite element analysis to calculate magnetic flux in the electromagnetic system with the overall size of $20mm(W){\times}20mm(D){\times}13mm(H)$ for the mirror size of $8mm{\times}8mm$. The each moving-magnet type electromagnetic actuator has the motor constant 3.41 mNm/A and the restoring constant 1.75 mNm/rad and the resonance frequency of 58 Hz and the bandwidth of 80 Hz. The proposed compact and simple 2-D scanning mirror predicted advantages of large 2-D angular deflections, wide frequency bandwidth and low manufacturing cost.

An optical mirror assembly is an opto-mechanically coupled system as the optical and mechanical behaviors interact. In the assembly, a flexure mount attached to an optical mirror should be flexible in the radial direction, but rigid for the remaining degrees of freedom for supporting the mirror rigidly and suppressing the wavefront error of the optical mirror. This work presents an optimal design of the flexure mount using topology optimization with thermal stress constraint. By simplifying the optical mirror assembly into finite shell elements, topology optimization model was built for efficient design and good machinability. The stress at the boundary between the optical mirror and the mount together with the first natural frequency were applied as constraints for the optimization problem, while the objective function was set to minimize the strain energy. As a result, we obtained the optimal design of the flexure mount yielding the improved wavefront error, proper rigidity, and machinability.
This study has been focused on properties of mirror surface grinding technology by ELID(Electrolytic In-process Dressing) for metal matrix ceramic composites using in high precision mirror for optics. The experimental studies have been carried out to get mirror surface by grinding for composites, Al-SiC, Al-graphite and Mg-SiC. Grinding process is carried out with varying abrasive mesh type, depth of cut and feed rate using diamond wheel. The machining result of the surface roughness and condition of ground surface, have been analyzed by use of surface roughness tester and SEM measurement system. ELID grinding technology could be applied successfully for the mirror-surface manufacturing processes in spite of ductility of metal matrix material. As the results of experiments, surface roughness of Al-SiC(45 wt%) has been the most superior in these experimental work-pieces as 0.021 ${\mu}m$ Ra.
After a visit by Peter Waddell from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK in 1991, Robert H. Koch launched a program at the University of Pennsylvania to build lightweight pneumatic membrane mirrors, initially for balloon flight observations where weight is at a premium. Mirror cells were fabricated from sizes 0.18 m to 1.77 m, and experiments conducted to characterize the mirror figure and stability. Most of the work stopped after Prof. Koch's retirement in 1996 until 2006 when the authors expressed an interest in building an array of medium-aperture portable telescopes. The program restarted in earnest at Gravic, Inc. in Malvern, PA in 2008 with Koch using his extensive observational astronomy experience to guide the fabrication of a fully operational 1.07 m membrane mirror telescope with an optical tube assembly weighing under 45 Kg. Residual wavefront aberrations remediation resulted in Koch and the authors investigating membrane tensioning techniques with different cell designs, active secondary wavefront correction, photometric algorithms for aberrated images, and the use of additional lightweight mirror substrates from the Alt-Az Initiative Group, such as foamed glass. The best result for the lightweight mirrors was a point spread function spot size of several arc seconds. A lightweight 1.6 m cast aluminum cell alt-az telescope was subsequently designed by Koch and the authors for prime focus use.
