  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major public health issue that causes significant morbidity and mortality in the pediatric population. Pediatric minor TBIs are the most common and are widely underreported because not all patients seek medical attention. The specific management of these patients is distinct from that of adult patients because of the different physiologies in these age groups. This article focuses on minor TBIs, particularly growing skull fractures, traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage, and concussion.

  • This paper proposes the maintenance model of multi-component system when the failure characteristics and types of components are considered. In this model, it is assumed that a system is composed of a critical component, a major component and a minor component. Also, failure types is classified into major failure and minor failure. If major failure occurs to critical component before system age replacement time, the system is renewed. If major failure does not occur until its age replacement time, preventive maintenance is performed at age replacement time T. Minimal repairs are carried out after each minor failure. Major component is minimal-repaired if any failure is discovered during operation. Minor component should be replaced as soon as any failure is found. This paper determines the optimal replacement time of the system which minimizes total maintenance cost. Numerical example illustrates these results.

  • Mucinous adenocarcinoma is rarely reported in head and neck region. In other organ, it usually occur in breast, gastrointenstinal tract and so on. The specific histologic findings of mucinous adenocarcinoma are the large amount of extracellular mucin and tumor cell nests such as floating in mucin pool. It may develop rarely in major or minor salivary gland, but only one case of mucinous adenocarcinoma originating from parotid gland was presented in south korea. We report a case of mucinous adenocarcinoma in the tongue base considered to develop from minor salivary gland with a review of literatures.

  • The aim of this study was to clarify the arrangement of the zygomaticus major muscle, and to describe morphology of zygomaticus minor muscle. After a detailed dissection, the zygomaticus muscles were observed in 66 embalmed cadavers. It was found that the insertion of zygomaticus major was divided into superficial and deep bands(42/70, 60%). Zygomaticus minor was inserted not only upper lip also alar portion(5/54, 9.2%). The arrangement and insertion patterns of the zygomaticus muscles in this study are expected to provide critical information for understanding or smile pattern and treatment or fold.

  • As a preparation of a design standard regarding road facilities, such as cantilever columns for traffic lights, street lights on highways is proposed. Currently these minor structures are designed based on guidelines which are mixed with multiple old foreign specifications without any criteria in terms of safety and economy, which could lead irregular safeties and the loss of national properties. In the considered two cases for effective projected area, it is found that following efficient way of design without critical analyses could make significant errors and miscalculations. Therefore, a fundamental research on the minor structures is urgently needed.

  • This paper describes the development of adult authentication system using numerical recognition. Nowadays, the automats are very popular and they are dealing in many item suck as coffee, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and cigarettes, etc. Among these items, some are harmful to the minor, and so the sale of these to the minor must be prohibited. In relation to this, adult authentication system is required to be equipped to the automat which deals in items harmful to minor. According to these demands, we develop the adult authentication system. This system capture the image of a residence certificate card by the identification card-reader, and recognize its numbers and identify it as adult or minor by main computer, where numeral recognition is accomplished by using image processing methods and neural network recognizer. The characteristic test of the system is carried out, and its result reveals that the system has the error of less than 1%. Thus, It is thought that the system can be used for identifying adult in the automats.

  • Effects on the sintering of zircon by minor additives such as $Al_2O_3$, MgO and CaO were studied at $1450^{\circ}C$~$1550^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. Shrinkage, compressive strength, bulk density and apparent porosity of sintered specimens were measured in relation to content of minor additives and temperature. Mineral constitutions of the sintered specimens were idenified with X-ray diffractometer. And microstructures of the sintered specimens were observed by scanning electron microscope. The results obtained were as follow. 1) Effect ofthe minor additives such as Al2O3, MgO and CaO on the sintering of zircon was related to reaction between added oxide and silica by dissociation of zircon. 2) Zircon did not dissociate at $1550^{\circ}C$, but it did slightly on the specimen added by Al2O3 5 wt% at $1550^{\circ}C$. 3) Sintering of zircon was promoted by the addition of MgO, $(Al_2O_3+CaO)$ and (MgO+CaO), then, this phenomenon was due to the formation of liquid phase.

  • Transmutation characteristics of minor actinides in a transmutation reactor based on a Low Aspect Ratio (LAR) tokamak are investigated. One-dimensional neutron transport and burn-up calculation coupled with the tokamak systems analysis were performed to find the optimal system parameters. The dependence of the transmutation characteristics such as neutron multiplication factor, produced power and transmutation rate on an aspect ratio A in the range of 1.5 to 2.0 was investigated. By adding Pu239 in the transmutation blanket as a neutron multiplication material, it was shown that the one unit of the transmutation reactor based on the LAR tokamak producing fusion power of 150 MWth can destroy the minor actinides contained in the spent fuels produced from more than 19 units of l GWe PWRs with production of the power being in the range of 0.9 - 3.4 GWth.

  • Minor salivary gland sialolithiasis (MSGS) is a not uncommon oral mucosal disease. Its clinical appearance may mimic a mucocyst or other benign submucosal overgrowth. Stasis of saliva, which accompanies MSGS, usually results in minor salivary gland inflammation, with a chronic sialadenitis appearance. MSGS typically is a painless lesion but can become painful when the salivary gland parenchyma or excretory duct becomes infected, with or without pus. However, misdiagnosis of this condition is rather common, as the clinical appearance is asymptomatic. The most common location is the upper lip, and MSGS affects males and females, with a slight predilection for males. The sialolith causing MSGS may be obvious during surgical excision, as in the case reported. In other cases, sialolith may be absent or fragmented. Differential diagnosis includes mucocele, swelling due to local irritation like fibroma and diapneusia, chronic abscess of the oral mucosa, and neoplasms either benign (lymphangioma, pleiomorphic adenoma) or malignant. Histopathological examination is needed to establish clinical diagnosis.
