  • Lee weight is more appropriate for some practical situations than Hamming weight as it takes into account magnitude of each digit of the word. In this paper, we obtain a sufficient condition over the number of parity check digits for codes correcting random errors and simultaneously detecting burst errors with Lee weight consideration.

Minimum Disparity Estimation for Normal Models: Small Sample Efficiency

  • The minimum disparity estimators introduced by Lindsay and Basu (1994) are studied empirically. An extensive simulation in this paper provides a location estimate of the small sample and supplies empirical evidence of the estimator performance for the univariate contaminated normal model. Empirical results show that the minimum generalized negative exponential disparity estimator (MGNEDE) obtains high efficiency for small sample sizes and dominates the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and the minimum blended weight Hellinger distance estimator (MBWHDE) with respect to efficiency at the contaminated model.

An improved particle swarm optimizer for steel grillage systems

  • In this paper, an improved version of particle swarm optimization based optimum design algorithm (IPSO) is presented for the steel grillage systems. The optimum design problem is formulated considering the provisions of American Institute of Steel Construction concerning Load and Resistance Factor Design. The optimum design algorithm selects the appropriate W-sections for the beams of the grillage system such that the design constraints are satisfied and the grillage weight is the minimum. When an improved version of the technique is extended to be implemented, the related results and convergence performance prove to be better than the simple particle swarm optimization algorithm and some other metaheuristic optimization techniques. The efficiency of different inertia weight parameters of the proposed algorithm is also numerically investigated considering a number of numerical grillage system examples.

  • In this paper, optimization of cylindrical shells under external pressure to minimize its weight has been studied. Buckling equations are based on standard of ABS underwater vehicles. Dimension and type of circumferential stiffeners, and its distance from each other are assumed as variables of optimization problem. Considering the extent of these variables, genetic algorithms have been used for optimization. To study the effect of hydrostatic pressure on the shell and its fabrication according to the existing standards, geometrical and construction as well as stress and buckling constraints have been used in optimization algorithm and also penalty functions are applied to eliminate weak model. Finally, the best model which has the minimum weight considering the applied pressure has been presented.

The Stacking Sequence Optimization of Stiffened Laminated Curved Panels with Different Loading and Stiffener Spacing

  • An efficient procedure to obtain the optimal stacking sequence and the minimum weight of stiffened laminated composite curved panels under several loading conditions and stiffener layouts has been developed based on the finite element method and the genetic algorithm that is powerful for the problem with integer variables. Often, designing composite laminates ends up with a stacking sequence optimization that may be formulated as an integer programming problem. This procedure is applied for a problem to find the stacking sequence having a maximum critical buckling load factor and the minimum weight. The object function in this case is the weight of a stiffened laminated composite shell. Three different types of stiffener layouts with different loading conditions are investigated to see how these parameters influence on the stacking sequence optimization of the panel and the stiffeners. It is noticed from the results that the optimal stacking sequence and lay-up angles vary depending on the types. of loading and stiffener spacing.

제초제 약효평가를 위한 잡초의 생체중 기준 고찰 (Study on Weeds Fresh Weight Standard for Herbicide Efficacy Evaluation)

  • 본 시험은 논, 밭, 과원(비농경지 포함)에서 주로 발생하는 잡초의 생체중과 건물중을 비교하여 무처리 최소 총 발생량의 생체중에 대한 기초 자료를 확립하고자 10개 지역에서 시험을 수행하였다. 논 포장의 일년생잡초인 피의 건물률 평균은 14.8%, 일년생잡초(피 포함) 건물률 평균은 12.5%, 다년생잡초 건물률 평균은 13.9%로 나타났다. 밭 포장의 일년생잡초의 건물률 평균은 20.1%로 나타났으며, 과원(비농경지 포함)포장 내 일년생 및 다년생잡초 총계의 평균은 18.4%로 나타났다. 이에 따라, 생체중에 대한 무처리 최소 총발생량은 논 포장에서는 피 $210g\;m^{-2}$, 일년생잡초(피 포함) $400g\;m^{-2}$, 다년생잡초 $220g\;m^{-2}$로 제시할 수 있다. 또한, 밭 포장에서는 일년생잡초 $250g\;m^{-2}$, 과원(비농경지 포함) 포장에서는 일년생 및 다년생잡초 총계 $550g\;m^{-2}$으로 제시할 수 있다.

  • Recently to develope an automobile with better properties, much researches and investments are executed in many countries. In this paper, the weight of an engine block intend to minimize without changing the natural frequency. The weight minimization of an engine block is started from much less initial thickness than original thickness of the model and performed by using the sensitive analysis method and the optimum structural modification method. It can be considered that the weight minimization is completed through this process, because the optimum structural modification method includes the constraint of minimum changing quantity.

  • It is common in multistory flat-plate structures that newly cast slabs are supported by a number of previously cast floors. Then the weight of newly cast slabs is imposed on shored previously cast floors as load, and this load may be large as double as dead load. Because early-age construction loads cause large immediate deflection and creep deflection with cracks, this loads influence long-term behavior of slabs. In current provision, the minimum thickness is required to satisfy serviceability But this minimum thickness based on historical precedent is determined by span length, therefore the minimum thickness of current provision can not includes properly the effect of construction scheme including the number of shored floors and construction cycle. In the present study, a minimum thickness criterion, which includes the effect of concrete strength, geometry of slabs and construction scheme, was developed from computer-based iteration using deflection calculation procedure of current code method.

일부 서울지역 남.여 고교생의 체격과 영양상태에 관한 유사종단적 연구 (A Semi-longitudinal Study on Physiques and Nutritional Status of Korean Youth in a Seoul Special City)

  • This study was carried out to know physical growth and development, physical and nutritional indices and body fat weight and so forth by semi-longitudinal research method to measure body height, body weight, chest girth and sitting height of 260 of general high school and 306 of vocational high school 3rd grade students who are living in Seoul and born from 1966 March 1st to 1967 Feb.28th. The results are as follows: 1) Physical growth and development Growth in terms of body height showed one step straight linear development, andthat of body weight showed two step straight linear development in each section in high school. The age of cross over between two sexes of general high school students was between 10.6 to 12. 3 years in body height, between 10.8 to 13 years in body weight, between 11.2 to 14.6 years in chest girth and between 10 to 13 years in sitting height. The age of cross over between two sexes of vocational high school students was between 10.5 to 12.5 years in body height, between 10.5 to 12.5 years in body weight, between 10.5 to 12.5 years in chest girth and between 10.5 to 12.5 years in sitting height. In this periods, female group was superior to male group and after that male group was superior to female group again. The growth of vocational school students was superior to that of general school students in both sexes in terms of body height and body weight significantly. 2) Physical growth and nutritional indices In all cases of relative body weight, relative chest girth and relative sitting height, it was found to be increasing thereafter with advancing ages. In cases of $R{\"{o}}hrer$ index and Kaup index, it was found to be reaching to normal state thereafter with advancing ages. In each case of Vervaeck and Pelidisi index, it was found to be increasing and reaching to normal state thereafter with advancing ages. 3) Total body fat by vital measuring method Average values of body surface area, body volume and body density are measured indirectly by using the body height and body weight as Table 12, 13 and 14. The rate of body fat weight of general high school students was from minimum $11.96{\pm}3.53%(3.33{\pm}1.10kg$) to maximum $18.25{\pm}6.46%(9.08{\pm}2.01kg$) in male and from $25.88{\pm}3.62%(7.96{\pm}0.78kg$) to $43.00{\pm}7.22%(12.91{\pm}1.21kg$) in female. The rate of body fat weight of vocational high school students was from minimum $11.20{\pm}2.88%(3.32{\pm}1.13kg$) to maximum $17.16{\pm}5.88(10.83{\pm}3.16kg$) in male and from minimum $25.11{\pm}2.26%(7.91{\pm}0.89kg$) to maximum $42.16{\pm}7.96%(13.22{\pm}1.75kg$) in female.

해양플랜트 플로트오버 설치 공법용 수동형 갑판 지지 프레임의 최소중량설계와 민감도 평가를 위한 실험계획법 응용 (Application of Experimental Design Methods for Minimum Weight Design and Sensitivity Evaluation of Passive-Type Deck Support Frame for Offshore Plant Float-Over Installation)

  • 본 연구에서는 20,000 톤급 해양플랜트 상부구조물(Topside)의 플로트오버 설치작업을 위해 개발된 수동형 갑판 지지 프레임(Deck support frame)의 구조설계에 대해 다양한 실험계획법을 이용한 최소중량설계와 민감도 평가의 비교연구를 수행하였다. 수동형 갑판 지지 프레임의 주요 구조부재의 두께 치수 변수는 설계인자로 고려하였고, 응답치는 중량과 강도성능으로 선정하였다. 최소중량설계와 민감도 평가의 비교연구에 사용한 실험계획법은 직교배열설계법, Box-Behnken 설계법, 그리고 Latin hypercube 설계법이다. 실험계획법의 설계공간 탐색의 근사화 성능을 평가하기 위해 반응표면법을 각 실험계획법 별로 생성하여 근사화 정확도 특성을 검토하였다. 또한 최소중량설계를 위해 최상 설계안의 결과로 부터 실험계획법의 특성에 따른 수치계산 비용, 중량감소 효과 등을 평가하였다. 수동형 갑판 지지 프레임의 구조설계에 대해 Box-Behnken 설계법이 가장 적합한 설계 결과를 나타내었다.
