On designing the rectifying inspection plans of double sampling, the relations of the sample sizes $n_1$, $n_2$ and the acceptance numbers $c_1$, $c_2$ are obtained by using the Chi-square distribution. As the average number of pieces inspected per lot is a function of $c_1$ and $c_2$, the optimal solution is the values of $c_1^*$ and $c_2^*$ for which the average amount of inspection is a minimum. Then the values of $n_1^*$ and $n_2^*$ are easily obtained from the equations given by ($n_1$, $n_2$) and ($c_1$, $c_2$).
We made a sample design for next 5 years, based on the population as of 1995, for livestock statistics. In the sample design, we used the stratified one stage sampling method where the sample size depends on the prefixed coefficient of variation. In stratifying the population, we considered the complete linkage method, and decided the number of strata to be the one which yields the minimum sample size. We listed here some difficulties we had for the better sample design in the future.
For a given soil-contaminated site, a level of soil contamination is characterized and decisions on risk may be made from the risk assessment. The study evaluated critical design factors for the determination of sample size in the sampling design plan and the assessment of soil contaminant- leaching to groundwater. Two variables, the minimum relative detectable difference (T) and coefficient of variation (CV) were evaluated for the sample size determination. The minimum number of samples can be appropriately determined by CV under a T value greater than or equal to 0.2. Soil-contaminant leaching to groundwater was evaluated by using the Soil Screening Level equation of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Risk Based Screening Level equation of American Society for Testing and Materials, with the same input parameters. The groundwater concentrations estimated from soil contaminant concentrations were significantly affected by the Darcy velocity of groundwater and the organic content of soil.

Economic Reliability test plans(ERTP) are proposed considering that the life time of the submitted items follow the Pareto distribution of the second kind. For various specified acceptance number, sample size and producer's risk, a minimum test termination time is obtained. A comparison of proposed plan has been made with the existing plan developed by Aslam et al. (2010). The results are explained by tables and example.

This paper deals with correction of frequency offset and analysis of quantization angle noise in the IEEE 802.1la OFDM system. The rotation phase per symbol due to the carrier frequency offset is estimated from auto-correlation of the short Preambles, which are over-sampled for the reduction of noise in OFDM signals. The pilot signals are introduced to estimate the rotation phase per OFDM symbol due to estimation error of the carrier frequency offset and the sampling frequency onset. During the estimation and correction of the frequency onsets, a CORDIC processor and a look-up table are used for the conversion between a rotation phase and its complex number. Being calculated by a limited number of bits in the CORDIC processor and the look-up table, the rotation phase and its complex number have quantization angle errors. The quantization errors are analyzed as SNR (signal to noise ratio) due to the quantization bit numbers. The minimum bit number is suggested to meet the specification of IEEE 802.1la properly. Finally, the quantization errors are evaluated through simulations on number of quantization bits and SNR of received signals.

This extended study aims to analyze empirically the influence of firm diversification on firm performance moderated by the stages of the firm life cycle, which consists of introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. The target population of this study is the firms listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange. The sampling method uses purposive sampling in the multi-business firm in Indonesia; it includes as many as 127 firms over the period from 2011 to 2017, totaling 889 firm-year observations. The firm performance is measured using a return of equity while the level of firm diversification with the minimum number of two operating segments is proxied by the Herfindahl index. The analysis method used in this study is the estimator model of the Generalized Method of Moment (GMM). The main findings show that the firm life cycle at the stage of growth and maturity significantly strengthens the influence of firm diversification on firm performance. On the other hand, the stage of decline fails to moderate the relationship between firm diversification and firm performance. This study discusses the implications and contributions of the findings theoretically, and provide some policy justifications for potential investors before they invest their money in the capital market.
In 1962 the governing bodies of FAO and WHO approved the establishment of a joint FAO/WHO Food Standards Programme, the creation of a jointly sponsored body to be known as the Codex Alimentarius commission to implement the Programme. It can reasonably be claimed that the Commission has assumad the leading role in establishing internation food standards throughout the world. The Codex Committee of Food Hygiene has received much advice and assistance from other international organization which have been working in this field for a number of years. In particular, it has received valuable background documentation from the International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Foods(ICMSF) which was set up by the International Association of Microbiological Societies(IAMS), and also from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Nevertheless, in spite of the information supplied by governments and research bodies in this field, microbiological standards have proved to be a highly controversial subject from the point of view of Codex standards. When it is decided to establish a microbiological standard for a food or class of foods, the following technical and administrative aspects must be considered: 1) The standard should be based on factual studies and serve one or more of the following objectives: (1) to determine the conditions of hygiene under which the food should be manufactured; (2) to minimize the hazards to public health; (3) to measure the keeping quality and storage potential of the food 2) The standard should be attainable under practicable operating and commercial conditions and should not entail the use of excessive heat treatment or the additions of extra preservatives. 3) The standard should be determined after investigation of the processing operation. 4) The standard should be as simple and inexpensive to administer as possible, the number of tests being kept to a minimum. 5) Details of methods to be used for sampling, examining and reporting should accompany all published microbiological standards. 6) In establishing tolerance levels for the permissible number of defective samples, allowance should be made for sampling and other variations due to differences in the laboratory methods. The following additional points should be kept in mind: 1) It is not satisfactory to establish one set of microbiological standards for a miscellaneous group of foods, such as“frozen foods”or“precooked foods”. 2) Microbiological standards should be applied first to the more hazardous types of food on the basis of experience of expected microbiological levels, taking into account variations in composition, processing procedures, and storage. 3) When a standard is established, there should be a definite relationship between the standard and the hazard against which it is meant to protect the public. 4) The sensitivity, reliability, and reproducibility of the sampling and analytical methods should be compared in different laboratories and the methods to be used should be specified in detail as part of the standard. 5) Tolerances should be included in the standard to account for inaccuracies of sampling and analysis. 6) Standards should be applied on a voluntary basis before compliance is made mandatory.

In this paper, the linear autoregressive model of EMG signal for four basic arm functions was presented and parameters for each function were estimated. The signal identification was carried out using function discrimination algorithm. It was validated that EMG signal was a widesense stationary process and the linear autoregressive model of EMG signal was constructed through approximating it to Gaussian process. It was confined that Levinson-Durbin algoridthm is a more appropriate one than the recursive least square method for parameter estimation of the linear model. Optimal function discrimination was acquired when sampling frequency was 500Hz and two electrodes were attached to bicep and tricep muscle, respectively. Parameter values were independent of variance and the number of minimum data for function discrimination was 200. Bayesian discrimination method turned out to be a better one than parallel filtering method for functional discrimination recognition.
Modified cut-off sampling is widely used for highly skewed data. A serious drawback of modified cut-off sampling is the difficulty of adjustment of non-response in take-all stratum. Therefore, solutions of the problems of non-response in take-all stratum have been studied in various ways such as substitute of samples, imputation or re-weight method. In this paper, a new cut-off point based on minimizing MSE being used in exponential and power functions is suggested and it can be reduced the number of take-all stratum. We also investigate another cut-off point determination method with underlying distributions such as truncated log-normal and truncated gamma distributions. Finally we suggest the optimal cut-off point which has a minimum of take-all stratum size among suggested methods. Simulation studies are performed and Labor Survey data and simulated data are used for the case study.
Animal disease surveillance system, defined as the continuous investigation of a given population to detect the occurrence of disease or infection for control purposes, has been key roles to assess the health status of an animal population and, more recently, in international trade of animal and animal products with regard to risk assessment. Especially, for a system aiming to determine whether or not a disease is present in a population sensitivity of the system should be maintained high enough not to miss an infected animal. Therefore, when planning the implementation of surveillance system a number of factors that affecting surveillance sensitivity should be taken into account. Of these parameters sample size is of important, and different approaches are used to calculate sample size, usually depending on the objective of surveillance systems. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity of the current national serological surveillance programs for four selected bovine diseases assuming a specified sampling plan, to examine factors affecting the probability of detection, and to provide sample sizes required for achieving surveillance goal of detecting at least an infection in a given population. Our results showed that, for example, detecting low level of prevalence (0.2% for bovine tuberculosis) requires selection of all animals per typical Korean cattle farm (n = 17), and thus risk-based target surveillance for high risk groups can be an alternative strategy to increase sensitivity while not increasing overall sampling efforts. The minimum sample size required for detecting at least one positive animal was sharply increased as the disease prevalence is low. More importantly, high reliability of prevalence estimation was expected with increased sampling fraction even when zero-infected animal was identified. The effect of sample size is also discussed in terms of the maximum prevalence when zero-infected animals were identified and on the probability of failure to detect an infection. We suggest that for many serological surveillance systems, diagnostic performance of the testing method, sample size, prevalence, population size, and statistical confidence need to be considered to correctly interpret results of the system.
