In this paper, to improve spectral efficiency and mitigate interference in coordinated millimeter-wave systems, we proposes an optimal user group and beam selection scheme. The proposed scheme improves spectral efficiency by mitigating intra- and inter-cell interferences (ICI). By examining the effective channel capacity for all possible user combinations, user combinations and beams with minimized ICI can be selected. However, implementing this in a dense environment of cells and users requires highly complex computational abilities, which we have investigated applying multiclass classifiers based on machine learning. Compared with the conventional scheme, the numerical results show that our proposed scheme can achieve near-optimal performance, making it an attractive option for these systems.

In this paper, an uplink pilot signal structure is proposed for millimeter wave(mmWave)-based mobile wireless backhaul. For the transmit diversity of two antenna ports, uplink pilot signals generated from the Zadoff-Chu sequence can be mapped in an interleaved mode or continuous mode on the frequency axis, and channel estimation algorithms are different depending on the pilot signal mapping schemes. Through a simulation under Rayleigh fading channel assuming a subway scenario, the interleaved mapping scheme showed no performance degradation compared to the continuous mapping scheme and the implementation complexity of the uplink channel estimator was reduced due to the interleaved mapping scheme.

The current cellular communications are optimized for low mobility users, meaning that their performance is degraded at high speed. Therefore, passengers in a high-speed train experience very poor radio link quality due to the significantly large number of simultaneous handovers. In addition, wireless data traffic is expanding exponentially in trains, subways and buses due to the widespread use of smartphones and mobile devices. To solve the inherent problem of cellular communication networks and meet the growing traffic demand, this paper proposes the mobile hotspot network of a millimeter-wave communication system as a mobile wireless backhaul. This paper describes the physical layer design of uplink and downlink in the proposed system, and the performances of uplink and downlink are evaluated under Rician fading channel conditions. The implemented baseband prototype of the proposed millimeter-wave communication modem is presented. This system can provide a Gbps data rate service in high-speed trains carrying hundreds of wireless Internet users.

This paper suggests an efficient and comprehensive algorithm of the protection ratio derivation and illustrates some calculated results applicable to the initial planning of frequency coordination in the fixed wireless access networks. The net filter discrimination associated with Tx spectrum mask and overall Rx filter characteristic has been also examined to show the effect of the adjacent channel interference. The calculations for co-channel and adjacent channel protection ratios are performed for the current microwave frequency band of 6.7 GHz including Tx spectrum mask and Rx filter response. According to results, fade margin and co-channel protection ratio reveal 41.4 and 75.2 dB, respectively, for 64-QAM and 60 km at BER $10^{-6}$. It is shown that the net filter discrimination with 40 MHz channel bandwidth provides 28.9 dB at the first adjacent channel, which yields 46.3 dB of adjacent channel protection ratio. In addition, the protection ratio of 38 GHz radio relay system is also reviewed for millimeter wave band applications. The proposed method gives some advantages of an easy and systematic extension for protection ratio calculation and is also applied to frequency coordination in fixed millimeter wave networks.

We consider a limited feedback based hybrid beamforming which reduces the energy of feedback information. In the millimeter wave channel, some rays with large ray gain dominate energy of the channel. Using this point, we propose a channel feedback scheme that employs limited number of channel rays. Also, we provide a hybrid beamforming scheme for the limited feedback system. Based on the simulation results, the proposed scheme shows a comparable data rate performance with conventional schemes, while it remarkably reduces energy of channel feedback.

We surveyed the international and national spectrum & technical standardization trends of extremely adaptive frequency bands $57\sim64GHz$ that can provide 1 Gbps bit-rate ultra broadband service in above 30 GHz millimeter waves, and analyzed service scenarios and the characteristics of these bands, As a result of these analysises, 1 Gbps ASK channel bandwidth needs 2.5 GHz and total bandwidth calculated 7 GHz for dual FDD. finally, we proposed the nationally suitable allocation plan of millimeter wave bands $57\sim64GHz$.

Owing to the difficulties associated with conducting millimeter-wave (mmWave) field measurements, especially in high-speed train (HST) environments, most propagation channels for mmWave HST have been studied using methods based on simulation rather than measurement. In this study, considering a linear cell layout in which base stations are installed along a railway, measurements were performed at 28 GHz with a speed up to 170 km/h in two prevalent HST scenarios: viaduct and tunnel scenarios. By observing the channel impulse responses, we could identify single- and double-bounced multipath components (MPCs) caused by railway static structures such as overhead line equipment. These MPCs affect the delay spread and Doppler characteristics significantly. Moreover, we observed distinct path loss behaviors for the two scenarios, although both are considered line-of-sight (LoS) scenarios. In the tunnel scenario, the path loss exponent (PLE) is 1.3 owing to the waveguide effect, which indicates that the path loss is almost constant with respect to distance. However, the LoS PLE in the viaduct scenario is 2.46, which is slightly higher than the free-space loss.

Recently, as required wireless communication traffic increase, millimeter wave mobile technologies that can secure broadband spectrum are gaining attention. However, the path loss is high in the millimeter wave channel. Massive MIMO system is being researched in which can complement the path loss by beamforming by equiped large-scale antenna at the base station. While legacy beamforming techniques have analog and digital methods, practical difficulties exist for application to massive MIMO systems in terms of system complexity and cost. Therefore, this paper studies a hybrid beamforming scheme for massive MIMO system in the millimeter wave band. Also this paper considers spatial multiplexing scheme to serve multi-users with multiple received antennas. Gains of the beamforming and the spatial multiplexing schemes are evaluated by analyzing the spectral efficiency.
In this paper, the effective capacity of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system in two different cases with receive antenna selection (RAS) and transmit antenna selection (TAS) schemes is investigated. A closed-form solution for the maximum constant arrival rate of this network with statistical delay quality of service (QoS) constraint is extracted in the quasi-static fading channel. This study is conducted in two different cases. When channel state information (CSI) is not available at the MIMO transmitter, implementation of TAS is difficult. Therefore, RAS scheme is employed and one antenna with the maximum instantaneous signal to noise ratio is chosen at the receiver. On the other hand, when CSI is available at the transmitter, TAS scheme is executed. In this case, one antenna is selected at the transmitter. Moreover, an optimal power-control policy is applied to the selected antenna and the effective capacity of the MIMO system is derived. Finally, this optimal power adaptation and the effective capacity are investigated in two asymptotic cases with the loose and strict QoS requirements. In particular, we show that in the TAS scheme with the loose QoS restriction, the effective capacity converges to the ergodic capacity. Then, an exact closed-form solution is obtained for the ergodic capacity of the channel here.

In this paper, we introduced the design technique about a Ka band receive module for millimeter wave seekers. The receiver module consists of a waveguide, circulator and transition for antenna connection, and a limiter and gain control amplifier for receiver protection. This module is comprised of a sum, azimuth and elevation channel for receiving monopules signal, and a SLB channel for the acquisition of jamming signal. In this paper, receiver gain and range of gain control dependent on ADC nonlinear characteristic was analyzed and designed for wide dynamic range receive. In the test result of the fabricated Ka-band receive, the frequency band is 1 GHz, the noise figure is as low as 8.2 dB, the gain is $56{\pm}2dB$, the dynamic range is 135 dB, the gain congtrol is more than 86 dB, the channel isolation is more than 35 dB.
