  • The purpose of this study was to explore the dynamics of the newly emerging designer fashion market and examine how startup designers reacted to the tension between creativity and business, and how they grew within such dynamics. In-depth interviews were conducted with 22 DFE entrepreneurs and 7 fashion industry experts. The grounded theory was used to analyze data and yield results. Korean new generation of DFEs, attracted by the growing online market opportunities are directly distributing through online channels, targeting the millennial consumers who are pursuing new values at new distribution channels. They show new growth pattern, start with a few key items in the middle and lower price segments, then upscale their design, quality, and price. This study further investigated designers' enterprise orientation shift, which was explored by Mills. Some creativity-oriented designers encountered difficulties in the orientation shift, while designers who demonstrated business characteristics from the startup stage restored the balance by trying to improve both creativity and business. This study discovered a new way for the designer to enter the growth stage. This growth approach is one of the success strategies applicable to designers launching a brand on online platforms in the global market.

  • Proxies for paleo-circulation are drawing much interest with the recognition that ocean circulation plays an important part in the redistribution of heat and climate change on orbital and millennial timescales. In this review, we will introduce how neodymium isotope ratios of the authigenic fraction of marine sediments can be used as a proxy for ocean circulation along with analytical methods and two case studies. The first case study shows how the North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW) has varied over the glacial-interglacial and stadial-interstadial periods. The second case study shows how the freshwater budget and water circulation within the Arctic Ocean can be reconstructed for the last glacial period.

Data were collected via an Instagram crawler application developed with Python 3.4 administered to 19,262 posts using the term 'hot places' from November 1 and December 15, 2019. Issues were derived from a text mining technique using Textom 2.0; in addition, semantic network analysis using Ucinet6 and the NetDraw program were also conducted. The results are as follows. First, a frequency analysis of keywords for hot places indicated words frequently found in nouns were related to food, local names, SNS and timing. Words related to positive emotions felt in experience, and words related to behavior in hot places appeared in predicate. Based on importance, communication is the most important keyword and influenced all issues. Second, the results of visualization of semantic network analysis revealed four categories in the scope of the definition of "hot place": (1) culinary exploration, (2) atmosphere of cafés, (3) happy daily life of 'me' expressed in images, (4) emotional photos.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), to determine differences in gender perceptions in adopting non-cash transactions. In this study, the authors provide a measurement of differences in gender perceptions in adopting cashless, which refers to perceived usefulness, perceived ease-of-use, and perceived security. Respondents in this study were students from the millennial generation who are very familiar with the use of technology, especially non-cash transactions. The data collection technique used in this study was a survey, by distributing questionnaires to 260 respondents. The data were processed statistically through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of this study indicate that for men, ease-of-use of transactions does not increase the use of non-cash transactions. Meanwhile, for women, perceived ease-of-use has a significant and positive effect on the use of non-cash transactions. Furthermore, perceptions of usability and security have a positive and significant impact on using non-cash transactions. It was also found that female students had a positive, but not significant, effect on the use of non-cash transactions. This means that there has been a difference in the perception of gender, between men and women, in responding to the use of non-cash transactions.
