Objectives: The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for efficient operation and management of the military foodservice by analyzing the satisfaction of the quality of the foodservice and the perception of the military foodservice which are provided according to the ranks of the soldiers. Methods: A total of 252 military personnel (48 Private, 87 Private first class, 74 Corporal and 43 Sergeant) participated in Gyeonggi area from November 1 to 30, 2013, and data were analyzed by the SPSS Win (ver 18.0). Results: The perception with foodservice, variety of menu (p < 0.001), importance (p < 0.01), problem (p < 0.05) and leftover reason (p < 0.05) significantly differed by the rank of the soldiers. With regard to the satisfaction with food, there were significant difference by rank for all items (p < 0.01). Satisfaction with facilities did not indicate significant differences by rank. Satisfaction with sanitation indicated significant difference by rank in the categories of table ware (p < 0.05), process of distribution (p < 0.05), employee's uniform (p < 0.001) and drinking water (p < 0.05). Satisfaction with service indicated significant difference by rank with regard to kindness of employees (p < 0.01), providing information on foodservice (p < 0.05) and fast distribution (p < 0.01). Conclusions: In order to improve the satisfaction of all ranks, there is a need to offer a variety of nutritionally balanced menu and a proper amount of food provided through the voluntary food distribution services. The results also suggested the need to find a sustainable foodservice management plan to carry out satisfaction surveys regularly in the military foodservice.
This study shows the badge system for military officials of Joseon dynasty. The badge system for military officials of the 15th century consists of rank badges with tiger and leopard for the first and second ranks and rank badges with bear for the third rank. According to the code of laws, military officials are supposed to wear the rank badges with four different kinds of animals in Joseon dynasty. However, the badge system shown in the code of laws sometimes does not match with the badges in practices. Based on the literature, remaining badges and the badges in portraits, six different kinds of badges with animals are found : First, rank badges with tiger and leopard were used until the late 16th century. Second, rank badges with tiger were found in the period between the early 17th century and the latter 18th century. Third, rank badges with Haechi were found in the early 17th century. Fourth, rank badges with lions can be found in remains of the mid 17th century, the literature and the portrait of the late 18th century. Finally, the rank badges with double leopards or with single leopard were found from a portrait dated the late of 18th century to the last period of Joseon dynasty.
The object of this research is to inform readers of the chronikal change of Military Uniform in wars how the features and colors of uniforms have been changed along with the innovations of firearms. Military uniforms can be put into two differ-ent categories which are 'Battle wear' and 'Rank wear' A battle wear features of protec-tion and user fiendliness, These features of a battle wear can possibly minimize injuries and help increase the level of battling perform-ance. On the other hand a rank wear help dis-tinguish soldiers from their ranks and posi-tions. A rank wear symbolizs the pride that soldiers take n their unit and by wearing a rank wear soldiers feel more attached to their collegues and unit. Concrete process of military uniforms is as follows. 1. During war colors of military uniforms tended to be a means of show -off and camou- flage and while not in war they functioned as symbol which represent froops and the unit is tradition. 4. Other accessaries support the perforance and the symbolical function of uniforms.

In order to present the enhancement direction for the military administrative facilities, that can satisfy the user demands and achieve cost-effectiveness the goal of public projects, this research analyzes the features of functional spaces using Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP). Basically, the scope is selected to four facilities commander office, private office, public office, and meeting room, because they have an effect on military administrative facilities. Since the space is established by a combination of their own functions, this research begins with an analysis of functional spaces of military administrative facilities, which is verified through literature review and interview with expert. Thereafter, an AHP survey is conducted to military personnel to analyze the priority of functional spaces and to re-classify the functional spaces of each Military administrative facilities. Resultingly, the difference of functional spaces preference according to ranks and facility type are identified. Even though the same military facilities, it means that user satisfaction is different. Therefore, user satisfaction should be considered for each facility at the construction plan. It can minimize overlapped and unused spaces, which can help ensure cost-effectiveness. Consequently, this research suggested the methodology and the process that can take user satisfaction and can support the enhancement of military facilities standards.
This study investigates and analyzes the diversity of menu in military meal services that are recognized by the soldiers who are familar with meal services, and suggests the implications on the results of the analysis. For the ranks of respondents in terms of demographic features, the sergeants and corporals were 43.2%(186) and 29.7%(128) apiece. It was identified that the diversity of menu and significant influences as 57.5%. Thus, it is necessary to diversity the menus more than the present menus to increase the satisfaction of new generation on military meal services. The most influential factor on the diversity of menu was the hard-boiled food as 29.9% among 15 items. Therefore, the first measure to intensify the satisfaction of soldiers on meal services is to diversity the hard-boiled food. Accordingly, this measure will contribute to relieve the most biggest complaints on the diversity of menu in military meal services. For this purpose, it is recommended to replace the kitchen work system consisted of kitchen polices with the non-officer system enabling the long-term service. The kitchen polices are transferred to the first reserve list when they are accustomed to their duties because the period of service is limited under the present kitchen police system. Therefore, the present kitchen police system has the problem that it can't overcome the limit in terms of the quality of meal service.
The purpose of this paper is to propose a notification service for preventing unexpected accidents which will be occurred by enlisted men's stress in Korean Army. For this purpose we first evaluate the enlisted men's stress with reliable evaluation tools through survey. A representative sample size of about 1,500 enlisted men from all seven unit types was selected and surveyed considering types of unit, ranks, and regional characteristics. In the second, we analyse the results of level of stresses and stress reactions to distinguish high potential enlisted men who will happen to accident. Through the second step, we know enlisted men's stress reactions are different depending their unit types. Therefore the basic information about their stresses will be judged respectively according to their unit types. In the final step, we propose a notification service that offer the information about high potential enlisted men who will happen to accident to their managers rapidly through military Intranet and information systems. Their managers will get the previous information about occurrence of unexpected accidents and have time to check various things before they are occurred. We hope the proposed service contributes to prevent unexpected accidents and reduce the effort of military managers. Furthermore this paper offers several recommendations to apply the proposed service to Korean Army.
The purpose of this research is to better understand the Dongmyo, the Eastern Shrine of GuanYu and the military costumes of the Joseon period andto develop different cultural contents. By studying relevant literature, confirmations were made about the various types of costumes and their historical changes. During the reign of King Yeongjo, the ceremonial conductors often wore armors, and the king wore a different military costume. During the reign of King Jeongjo thereafter, the ceremonial costumes were codified in the book, the Chun-gwan tonggo(General Outline for the Ministry of Rites), along with the costumes for the musicians and lower officials. However, the military features were weakened in the late Imperial Joseon years. In terms of costumes, it would be best today to restore the ceremonies of the Shrine of Guan Yu during the period of King Jeongjo. All the costumes for different figures of the Shrine are clearly confirmed, and by emphasizing the main features of the ceremonials of the Shrine, it is possible to differentiate the ceremony from other restoration activities in Korea. For the Guan Yu statue, the hat is square shaped and decorated with nine bead strings, it is dressed with a red dragon coat and a violet inner coat. This study presents methods for the restorations of the original costumes for the individual figures of the ceremonials, with necessary theoretical explanations. The king wears the lamella gold armor, while different ceremonial officials wear differentiated armors according to their different ranks. All the civil and military officials who attend the ceremony wear military clothes with horse's mane hats and swords. The musical conductor and directors are expected in armors and participating musicians also have to wear armors according to the Akhak Gwebeom (Basics of Music).
This paper explores the determinants of re-employment of retired military personnel who served more than ten years in Korea. Recently, the re-employment rate of veterans is less than 30%. Considering the reduction in military forces in future, this very low rate of re-employment may be one of important social and economic problem. Using a survey and econometric analyses, we generate several important results. First, spouses' income is higher in the group who chose to run their own business than in the group who decided to become salary workers. Second, those who gave economic activities had longer the period of military service, higher ranks, and higher rate of being in bad health. Third, the longer the military service period is, the shorter the period of job search. And those who not taking the program of vocational guidance have short search period. If, however, one was more educated or one served longer in Seoul area, then she is more likely to have a longer search period. These results imply that the current important factors in government policies for veterans such as vocational guidance programs, information for employment, and military experience should be improved to be more oriented to the requirements of employers.

Next, water supply facilities, sewer hygiene and towels in washstaynds were the issues to be considered more. In conclusion, this study was limited only to the air soldiers in Chungcheon. Then, the future study needs to expand the samples more than this study to apply the results to the entire army. Moreover, the study could not be actively performed because of the particularity of the army. Consequently, it is required to make these kinds of researches dynamically performed like for any other meal service industries.
Military experience has a great impact on a soldier ability to handle risks. Therefore, when those soldiers become managers, they may behave differently in making risky corporate decisions, especially in activities like the R&D investment. However, studies on how military experience affect R&D have been largely missing in the largest emerging economy, i.e. China, despite that the country hires a higher percentage of military managers than the US. In addition, it remains a question whether military managers affect the state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in China, as many of the corporate decisions are made by the government. This paper tries to address these questions. The imprinting theory and the upper echelon theory suggest that managers' personal experience can affect their behaviour, which in turn influences their corporate decisions. In this paper, we examine whether managers with military experience lead to higher R&D investment and whether such an effect exists in state-owned enterprises. Based on a sample of listed firms in China's A-share market over 2008-2017, we make two findings. First, companies with military managers have high R&D investment. By dividing managers' military positions into high and low rank, we find that companies tend to have higher (lower) R&D investment if their managers hold a high-rank (low-rank) position. Second, the effect of high-rank military managers on R&D investment is more pronounced if the manager is also the founder and the company is a non-state-owned enterprise. For low-ranking military managers, a stronger effect on R&D investment is also observed if they are also the founder, but whether their companies are state-owned or not has no impact on R&D investment. This study identifies managers' military experience as a contributing factors to corporate R&D investment in the largest emerging economy. This paper tests an implication of the imprinting theory and the upper echelon theory, i.e., managers' personal experience can affect their behaviour, which in turn influences their corporate decisions. Specifically, we focus on one aspect of personal experience - military experience - and look at whether it is beneficial to firms' technological innovation, therefore enriches the literature of managerial heterogeneity. Our findings on the influence of managers' military experience on firms' technological innovation can help us better understand the role of managers play in corporate decision making, and how managers' individual traits interact with the firm's characteristics.
