In this era, intelligence is considered a major factor in the defense sector. As a result, securing technology for weapons systems for monitoring and reconnaissance of companies has become inevitable. As a result, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) have been developed and are actively operating around the world if the flight operation of manned aircraft is restricted, such as in environments that are too dangerous, messy or boring for the military to perform directly. The system of unmanned aerial vehicles, which has been researched and developed in Korea, includes Air Vehicle Test Equipment(AVTE). AVTE is equipment that is connected to an UAV to check its status and allows the operator to check its flightability by issuing an operational command to the UAV and verifying that it follows the command values. This study conducts fault finding on the phenomenon where the AVTE has stopped operating due to engine noise during these operations and analyzes the cause in terms of software, hardware and external environment. Present improvement measures according to the cause are analyzed and the results of verifying that the proposed measures can prevent failure are addressed.
The US DoD architecture framework defines architecture Products according to three viewpoints : operational view, system view, and technical view. But, its coarse-grained development process causes leakage of the details In transforming among different views. It also uses different methods for architecture products development, so that the levels of those products are not consistent. So. we propose MND AF(Ministry of National Defense Architecture Framework) for military environment to solve those problems. We propose additional architecture products to achieve consistency, including “architecture disciplines definition description,”“organization-to-activity relationships matrix,” “system definition description,” and “technical reference model,” etc. We also propose the architecture development process in more detail through seven steps. In addition, we propose the applicability of those products to the life cycle processes of the acquisition management. MND AF can provide consistency and traceability of architecture products, provide the basis for sl·stem integration and interoperability. Also, architecture developers can construct architecture in a more effective and efficient way through MND AF.
Through this research, the current state of naval coordination and guidance of shipping is reviewed whereupon which a suggestion is made for a novel role which satisfies the needs of the people and the country asked of the Navy. Taking into consideration the dynamic security environment, the developing relationship between the two nations on the Korean peninsula, and the influence that the Republic of Korea has on maritime security, it is made more urgent that the Navy takes a proactive course of action in terms of naval coordination and guidance of shipping. The current form of Korean naval coordination and guidance of shipping is adapted from the logical and flexible concepts of NCAPS and NCAGS and is one of many tasks that the Republic of Korea Navy must perform. However, when the Republic of Korea Navy develops blue-water capabilities with the ambitions of protecting its people and their way of life, naval coordination and guidance of shipping could potentially become one of the primary functions of the Republic of Korea Navy that the it must champion. Already, there are indications that foreign navies are, through many developments and commitment towards naval coordination and guidance of shipping, protecting its people and states' interests wherever is necessary. In the case of Chile, its Navy has taken the helm of naval coordination and guidance of shipping and has integrated various maritime organizations including the coast guard and the National Customs Service for the sake of maintaining regional maritime security, showing immediate force if necessary. Presently, as the Republic of Korea Navy looks to be a global naval power, it is important that a reprioritization of the Navy's mission is undertaken, all the while sustaining military readiness posture on the Northern Limit Line. It cannot be any more emphasized how crucial thorough military readiness posture is as a natural stance against the enemy. That being said, contributing towards international maritime security is consistent with the nation's standing. It is a fact that maritime security has been conceptualized and developed merely as a study within the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Republic of Korea Navy, and other governmental organizations, forces, and academia. Naval cooperation and guidance of shipping suggested by this research as a practical operational field is a concrete solution to what once was an abstract concept. To stand firm on its status as a maritime nation, the Republic of Korea must establish a Maritime Security Organization within its Navy and develop the appropriate doctrines. Attaining experts, developing doctrines, and cultivating the capability to deploy maritime forces will allow for the Republic of Korea to execute a primary role in keeping international maritime security and naval coordination and guidance of shipping. To fully achieve its latent potential necessitates the Republic of Korea Navy to expedite the introduction of naval coordination and guidance of shipping concepts and to establish the appropriate doctrines, operation plans, and organizations.
The Korean Helicopter Development Program has successfully introduced the Surion helicopter, a versatile multi-domain operational aircraft that replaces the aging UH-1 and 500MD helicopters. Specifically designed for maneuverability, the Surion plays a crucial role in low-altitude tactical maneuvers for personnel transportation and specific missions, emphasizing the helicopter's survivability. Despite the significance of its low-altitude tactical maneuver capability, there is a notable gap in research focusing on multi-mission tactical maneuvers that consider the risk factors associated with deploying the Surion in the presence of enemy air defenses. This study addresses this gap by exploring a method to enhance the Surion's low-altitude maneuvering paths, incorporating information about enemy air defenses. Leveraging the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm, a reinforcement learning-based approach, the research aims to optimize the helicopter's path planning. Visualized experiments were conducted using a Surion model implemented in the Unity environment and ML-Agents library. The proposed method resulted in a rapid and stable policy convergence for generating optimal maneuvering paths for the Surion. The experiments, based on two key criteria, "operation time" and "minimum damage," revealed distinct optimal paths. This divergence suggests the potential for effective tactical maneuvers in low-altitude situations, considering the risk factors associated with enemy air defenses. Importantly, the Surion's capability for remote control in all directions enhances its adaptability in complex operational environments.
A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system is of great interest in many fields of civil and military applications because of all-weather and luminance free imaging capability. SAR image quality parameters such as spatial resolution, peak to sidelobe ratio (PSLR), and integrated sidelobe ratio (ISLR) can be normally estimated by modeling of impulse response function (IRF) which is obtained from various system design parameters such as altitude, operational frequency, PRF, etc. In modeling of IRF, however, background clutter environment surrounding the IRF is generally neglected. In this paper, analysis method for SAR mage quality is proposed in the real background clutter environment. First of all, SAR raw data of a point scatterer is generated based on various system parameters. Secondly, the generated raw data can be focused to ideal IRF by range Doppler algorithm (RDA). Finally, background clutter obtained from image of currently operating SAR system is applied to IRF. In addition, image quality is precisely analyzed by zooming and interpolation method for effective extraction of IRF, and then the effect of proposed methodology is presented with several simulation results under the assumption of estimation error of Doppler rate.

The naval surface vessels, which were often exposed to harsh marine environment, tended to be corrosive due to military operations on various sea-areas and courses. Although R.O.K Navy applied various methods to protect further corrosion, the hull corrosion occurred due to cavitation were found on the naval surface vessels at regular and occasional docking. Hull corrosion was a critical factor directly to affect the lifetime of ships and their operational capabilities adversely. In this paper, EH 2350, which was the main anticorrosion paint used by R.O.K. Navy, was compared with DuraTough DL by used by the U.S Navy to collect materials related to anti-corrosion paint. In addition, the paint compatibility verification was conducted through wear abrasion test. Assuming that it was exposed to sea-environment various both abrasion cycle and weight for objective verification. by varying both the abrasion cycles and weights. In this study, the reliability of the EH 2350 conformity, which was used in Naval surface vessels, was secured.
To Republic of Korea in the Indo-Pacific region, the stability and prosperity of the area are directly coupled with national survival, interest. Currently, on account of strategic competition between U.S.A, and China in this area as well as supranational·non-conventional threats, the security environment is unstable, required joint/allied responses. So, lots of states inside(U.S.A., Japan, ASEAN, etc.), also, out of this Indo-Pacific area like EU-NATO, open their own strategy related in Indo-Pacific issues to be involved. R.O.K. government took its own line with publishing self strategy following this international trend, it can be shown korean government's strong intend to join in the pending security issues in this region with 'strategic clarity'. Now, R.O.K. Navy has to back up governments, policy. First, R.O.K. Navy should strengthen the relationship inside and take part in the multilateral cooperation of security. Second, to convey this deterrence message to potential threats, Navy is required to show of forces and have combined exercises. Also, as naval forces of advanced countries, Korea, Navy should be taken action in non-traditional threats, and help developing states improve their sea power. To fulfill this tasks in the wide ocean area, Navy need five inherent characteristics(mobility, flexibility, sustainability, capability of presence and projection). In the end, this paper propose the development plan following operational environment (SWOT) analysis as well.
Recently, the study in efficient operation, maintenance, and equipment-design have been growing rapidly in military industry to meet the required missions. Through out these studies, the importance of Concurrent Spare Parts(CSP) are emphasized. The CSP, which is critical to the operation and maintenance to enhance the availability, is offered together when a equipment is delivered. Despite its significance, th responsibility for determining the range and depth of CSP are done from administrative decision rather than engineering analysis. The purpose of the paper is to optimize the number of CSP per item using simulation and multiple regression. First, the result, as the change of operational availability, was gained from changing the number of change in simulation model. Second, mathematical regression was computed from the input and output data, and the number of CSP was optimized by multiple regression and linear programming; the constraint condition is the cost for optimization. The advantage of this study is to respond with the transition of constraint condition quickly. The cost per item is consistently altered in the development state of equipment. The speed of analysis, that simulation method is continuously performed whenever constraint condition is repeatedly altered, would be down. Therefore, this study is suitable for real development environment. In the future, the study based on the above concept improves the accuracy of optimization by the technical progress of multiple regression.

Hyperspectral images have emerged as a new and promising remote sensing data that can overcome the limitations of existing optical image data. This study was designed to provide a comprehensive review on definition, data processing methods, and applications of hyperspectral data. Various types of airborne, spaceborne, and field hyperspectral image sensors were surveyed from the available literatures and internet search. To understand the current status of hyperspectral remote sensing technology and research development, we collected several hundreds research papers from international journals (IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, International Journal of Remote Sensing, Remote Sensing of Environment and AVIRIS Workshop Proceedings), and categorized them by sensor types, data processing techniques, and applications. Although several hyperspectral sensors have been developing, AVIRIS has been a primary data source that the most hyperspectral remote sensing researches were relied on. Since hyperspectral data have very large data volume with many spectral bands, several data processing techniques that are particularly oriented to hyperspectral data have been developed. Although atmospheric correction, spectral mixture analysis, and spectral feature extraction are among those processing techniques, they are still in experimental stage and need further refinement until the fully operational adaptation. Geology and mineral exploration were major application in early stage of hyperspectral sensing because of the distinct spectral features of rock and minerals that could be easily observed with hyperspectral data. The applications of hyperspectral sensing have been expanding to vegetation, water resources, and military areas where the multispectral sensing was not very effective to extract necessary information.

Defense fields widely operate unmanned systems to lower vulnerability and enhance combat effectiveness. In the navy, swarm unmanned surface vehicles(USVs) form a cluster within communication range, share situational awareness information among the USVs, and cooperate with them to conduct military missions. This paper proposes an interface system, i.e., Interface Adapter System(IAS), to achieve inter-USV and intra-USV interoperability. We focus on the mission planning subsystem(MPS) for interoperability, which is the core subsystem of the USV to decide courses of action such as automatic path generation and weapon assignments. The central role of the proposed system is to exchange interface data between MPSs and other subsystems in real-time. To this end, we analyzed the operational requirements of the MPS and identified interface messages. Then we developed the IAS using the distributed real-time middleware. As experiments, we conducted several integration tests at swarm USVs simulation environment and measured delay time and loss ratio of interface messages. We expect that the proposed IAS successfully provides bridge roles between the mission planning system and other subsystems.
