Low-temperature sintering and microwave dielectric properties of $ZnAl_2O_4$ with ZnO-$B_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass (ZnO-$B_2O_3-SiO_2$ 유리가 첨가된 $ZnAl_2O_4$의 저온 소결 및 마이크로파 유전 특성)

  • In the present work, we have studied low temperature sintering and microwave dielectric properties of $ZnAl_2O_4$-zinc borosilicate (ZBS, 65ZnO-$25B_2O_3-10SiO_2$) glass composites. The focus of this paper was on the improvement of sinterability, low dielectric constant, and on the theoretical proof regarding of microwave dielectric properties in $ZnAl_2O_4$-ZBS glass composites, respectively. The $ZnAl_2O_4$ with 60 vo1% ZBS glass ensured successful sintering below $900^{\circ}C$. It is considered that the non-reactive liquid phase sintering (NPLS) occurred. In addition, $ZnAl_2O_4$ was observed in the $ZnAl_2O_4$-(x)ZBS composites, indicating that there were no reactions between $ZnAl_2O_4$ and ZBS glass. $ZnB_2O_4\;and\;Zn_2SiO_4$ with the willemite structure as the secondary phase was observed in the all $ZnAl_2O_4$-(x)ZBScomposites. In terms of dielectric properties, the application of the $ZnAl_2O_4$-(x)ZBS composites sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ to LTCC substrate were shown to be appropriate; $ZnAl_2O_4$-60ZBS (${\varepsilon}_r$= 6.7, $Q{\times}f$ value= 13,000 GHz, ${\tau}_f$= -30 ppm/$^{\circ}C$). Also, in this work was possible theoretical proof regarding of microwave dielectric properties in $ZnAl_2O_4$-(x)ZBS composites.

Design and Manufacture of Traveling-wave Electro-optic Modulator for X-band LFM Signal Generation (X-대역 LFM 신호생성을 위한 진행파형 전광변조기의 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, a photonic-based microwave system technology is described, and a traveling-wave electro-optic modulator is designed and manufactured as a key component. The fabricated modulator is composed of a metal diffusion waveguide for optical transmission and a planar waveguide electrode on lithium niobate substrate for microwave transmission. The electro-optic response bandwidth of I and Q channels in a fabricated dual parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator were measured for 27.67 and 28.11 GHz, respectively. Photonic four times up-converted X-band frequency and linear frequency modulated signal were confirmed using the fabricated electro-optic modulator by S-band input signal. The confirmed broadband signal can be applied to a microwave system for surveillance and high-resolution ISAR imaging.

Development of MMIC SSPA for 20GHz Band (20GHz 대 MMIC SSPA 개발)

  • A 2watts MMIC(Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) SSPA(Solid State Power Amplifiers) for 20GHz band communication systems has been designed, manufactured and measured. The 0.15um pHEMT technologywith the gate size of 400um for single device was used for the fabrication of MMIC Power Amplifier chips. The precision MIC patterns for the peripherals like power combiner/divider and microstrip lines were realized using hard substrate for gold wire/ribbon bonding. The measured data shows that this MMIC SSPA has the linear gain of 18dB, output power of 33.42dBm(2.2Watts)at 20~21GHz.

Before manufactirung the GPS(Global Positioning System)antenna such contents as input impedence resonent frequency and quality factor and efficiency are surveyed theolitically for design and parameters for manufacturing the antenna are found.

Basic RF Characteristics of Fishbone-Type Transmission Line Employing Comb-Type Ground Plane (FTLCGP) on PES Substrate for Use in Flexible Passive Circuits

  • In this work, a fishbone-type transmission line employing a comb-type ground plane (FTLCGP) was fabricated on polyethersulfone (PES) substrate, and its RF characteristics were thoroughly investigated. According to the results, it was found that the FTLCGP on PES showed periodic capacitance values much higher than other types of transmission lines due to a coupling capacitance between the signal line and ground, which resulted in a reduction of wavelength and line width. Using the theoretical analysis, we also extracted the bandwidth characteristic of the FTLCGP on PES. According to the result, the FTLCGP structure showed a cut-off frequency of 280 GHz.

  • As methane concentration was varietal, the textures of diamond films deposited on Si(100)substrate could be observed by XRD, SEM and Raman spectroscope. As a result, O$_2$plasma etching has been useful to observe microscopic structure of diamond films by SEM. The cross section of diamond films deposited on Si(100) substrate with 4% concentration of methane to hydrogen was a polycrystal like a pillar. The diamond crystal like a pillar has been oriented to (110) surface and the high quality diamond with FWHM of Raman spectra being 3.8cm$\^$-1/ has been grown. As time goes by deposition time, the preferred orientation increases.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of phase shifter which is operating at 2 GHz band and 12 GHz band. Two types of substrate stick with different dielectric constants are considered in these bands. Dielectric constants of microstrip feed crank line is 2.6. In the case of a small substrate stick with dielectric constant of 9 in the calculation, S21 phase is linearly varied at 1.98 GHz and 2.45 GHz, and variation of the shifting angle is about 20。. The angle of S21 phase shifting at 12 GHz band if calculated about 30。

  • Thick diamond film having ~700${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness was deposited on polycrystalline molybdenum (Mo) substrate using high power (4kW) microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) system. We could achieve free-standing diamond film via detaching as-deposited diamond film from the substrate by rapid cooling them under vacuum. We investigated the variation of photoconductivity after exposing the film surface to either oxygen or hydrogen plasma. At as-grown state, the growth side (the as-grown surface of the film) showed noticeable photoconductivity. The oxygen plasma treatment of this side led to the insulator. After exposing the film surface to hydrogen plasma, on the other hand, we could observe the reappearing of photoconductivity at the growth side. Based on these results, we suggest that the hydrogen plasma treatment may enhance the photoconductivity of free-standing diamond film.
