  • The wave-cutoff tool is a new diagnostic method to measure electron density and electron temperature. Most of the plasma diagnostic tools have the disadvantage that their application to processing plasma where toxic and reactive gases are used gives rise to many problems such as contamination, perturbation, precision of measurement, and so on. We can minimize these problems by using the wave-cutoff method. Here, we will present the results obtained through the development of the wave-cutoff diagnostic method. The frequency spectrum characteristics of the wave-cutoff probe will be obtained experimentally and analyzed through the microwave field simulation by using the CST-MW studio simulator. The plasma parameters are measured with the wave-cutoff method in various discharge conditions and its results will be compared with the results of Langmuir probe. Another disadvantage is that other diagnostic methods spend a long time (~ a few seconds) to measure plasma parameters. In this presentation, a fast measurement method will be also introduced. The wave-cutoff probe system consists of two antennas and a network analyzer. The network analyzer provides the transmission spectrum and the reflection spectrum by frequency sweeping. The plasma parameters such as electron density and electron temperature are obtained through these spectra. The frequency sweeping time, the time resolution of the wave-cutoff method, is about 1 second. A short pulse with a broad band spectrum of a few GHz is used with an oscilloscope to acquire the spectra data in a short time. The data acquisition time can be reduced with this method. Here, the plasma parameter measurement methods, Langmuir probe, pulsed wave-cutoff method and frequency sweeping wave-cutoff method, are compared. The measurement results are well matched. The real time resolution is less than 1 ?sec. The pulsed wave-cutoff technique is found to be very useful in the transient plasmas such as pulsed plasma and tokamak edge plasma.

  • In this paper, we study the coexistence of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems beyond 3G (B3G) and point-to-point (P-P) fixed service (FS) microwave systems. The advanced general analytical model derived via a power spectral density (PSD) analysis proposed in this paper has two advantages in comparison with the conventional minimum coupling loss (MCL) method. First, the interfering signal power that appears in the band of a victim system can be easily assessed without a spectrum emission mask. Second, when transmit power is not allocated to some subcarriers overlapping the band of the victim system in order to mitigate B3G OFDM-based systems interference with other systems, the general analytical model can successfully assess the interference from the B3G systems into FS systems, whereas the MCL method incorporating the spectrum emission mask cannot be applied in the presence of the same interference condition. The proposed model can be derived in a closed form and is simply implemented with the help of simulation, and thus the solution can be obtained in significantly reduced time. Through application of the proposed model, coexistence results are analyzed in a co-channel and adjacent channel with respect to guard band and minimum separation distance.

  • We have investigated the photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of methyl orange on the pure $LaCoO_3$ and metal ion doped $LaCoO_3$ perovskite-typeoxides prepared using microwave process. In the case of pure $LaCoO_3$ and cesium ion doped $LaCoO_3$ catalysts, the formation of the perovskite crystalline phase was confirmed regardless of the preparation method. From the results of UV-Vis DRS, the pure $LaCoO_3$ and cesium ion doped $LaCoO_3$ catalysts have the similar absorption spectrum up to visible region. The chemisorbed oxygen plays an important role on the photocatalytic decomposition of methyl orange and the higher the contents of chemisorbed oxygen, the better performance of photocatalyst.

  • Ultra Wideband is a new technology from commercial or civilian application viewpoint. It uses already allocated radio spectrum without causing significant interference to other users. It uses very low power, which is below the thermal noise of the receiver and is inherently difficult to detect by un-intentional users. Since, FCC approved the regulation for the commercial use of UWB in February 2002, the development of UWB technology is drastically gaining momentum. However, the technology itself is not new. It has already been used in military applications. UWB has three basic areas of applications, which are communication, positioning and imaging (UWB Microwave). The main commercial application will be for communication since it has very high data transfer rate for short distance. It can also be used for both indoor and outdoor 3-D positioning. Another important application is imaging like microwave remote sensing. An UWB sensor can pass through doors and walls and hence detect the objects inside the room. In this paper, we will introduce about UWB technology along with it’s various possible applications. We will also present some models to generate UWB signal and it’s analysis using signal-processing tools.

  • The morphology variat~on of diamond thin films, grown by microwave plasma chem~cal vapor deposition, was investigated. With increasing substrate temperature from $550^{\circ}C$ to $750^{\circ}C$, the film morphology was changed from {111} to {100}, and then to cauliflower. The nondiamond components in the film increased with increasing temperature. Micro Raman spectrum suggested that the nondiamond components might exist along the boundaries of d~amond particles. The texture of diamond films, analyzed by X-ray diffraction, was varied from random orientation to <100> , and finally to <110> with increasing substrate temperature.

  • Special problem emphasized by specialists in the field of analyzing the heat interchanges in the system ocean-atmosphere (SOA) is a necessity of determination of the near-surface atmospheric temperature, which can be only indirectly connected with characteristics of the SOA natural microwave radiation measured from satellites. That is why, the following dilemma is not obvious, but interesting and promised: what is better - to use the satellite methods for retrieving the partial parameters of the SOA or for analysis its state as a whole. To our opinion, this task is similar to the idea recognized by specialists engaged in the heat infrared region (8-12 mcm) of electromagnetic spectrum and its applications, where an intensity of natural infrared radiation (effective radiation) is used as the inherent property (the attribute) of the SOA heat balance. Here we studied important aspects of this problem: a) what medium initiates a heat transfer in the SOA and disturbs its heat balance - the ocean or the atmosphere b) what SOA parameters directly influence on its natural microwave radiation intensity (brightness temperature) measured from satellites? We relate these processes mainly to the synoptic range of time scales enriched by various events in the SOA interface such as the mid-latitude and tropical cyclones.

  • Digital microwave wideband receiver including linear amplifier, analog-to-digital converter(ADC) and digital signal processor is able to analyze its performance using sensitivity and dynamic range of system. Determination of gain, third-order intermodulation products and ADC characteristics and design criteria for the linear amplifier chain is essential problem for sensitive and dynamic range. Also, if there are two signals with frequencies very close, digital signal processor must be able to separate the two signals. In this paper, we measured dynamic range as gain was changed and determined gain value for the proper sensitivity and dynamic range and high resolution spectrum estimation was used to separate two close signals.

  • As the spectrum migrates to the higher frequency band around several milimeters wavelength for implementing wideband highspeed communications, it is more important to consider the channel attenuation characteristics of microwave signals. Microwave channels in 27GHz used in B-WLL system must be considered by compensating the power attenuation due to rainfall. So, in the design of one cell, the radiation power enhancement considering rainfall attenuation has an effort on the receiver in other cell as interference. In this paper we consider the main characteristics for B-WLL systems, optimum cell radius, and serviceable limit of heavy rainfall the design of the radiation power control system in case of enhancing the power that prevents from reducing the system capacity by interference.

  • The dielectric properties of complex perovskite ($Pb_{1-x}Ca_{x}$)($Fe_{0.5}Ta_{0.5}$)$O_{3}$ with >($0.5{\le}x{\ge}0.65$ were investigated at microwave frequencies. Dilectric constant decreased with increasing Ca content, and was directly proportional to the cube of average ionic ra야 of A-site. For the specimen of x=0.6 sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 3 h in air, dielectric constant (k) of 63, QF of 11000 GHz, and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(TCF) of -14ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained. As Ca content increased, TCF of the specimen negatively increased due to the reduction of the tolerance factor(t). Changes in intrinsic loss with varying Ca content was investigated by the infrared reflectivity spectra ranging 50 to 4000 $cm^{-1}$, which were calculated by the Kramers-Kronig analysis and classical oscillator model. The relative tendency of microwave dielectric properties of the ($Pb_{1-x}Ca_{x}$)($Fe_{0.5}Ta_{0.5}$)$O_{3}$ specimens calculated from the reflectivity data were in good agreement with the results by the post resonant method.

  • One of the most important design parameters in a microwave radio transmitting system is to reduce spurious response from the output spectrum of the transmitting system. A Local oscillator (LO) is seldom totally pure and at the least contain some LO harmonic signals. A LO or any oscillator is a transmitter if provided with a suitable radiator, conduction, or leakage path. Where mixer is employed in the output of the LO mixer generated spurs can be increased by RF amplifier. To reduce LO leakage, notch filter or band pass filter has been conventionally used. In this paper, the leakage reduction(LR) signal, which has the same magnitude and the opposite phase with respect to LO leakage signal, is added to the output of mixer of the wireless LAN system. The LO leakage is reduced by 30 dB more than the conventional methods do. The proposed method is potentially suitable for low-cost, reliable, and simple application of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs)
