We studied the effect of sol-gel processing and sintering temperature on the microwave properties of $MgCo_2(VO_4)_2$ system(MCV) which is applicable to LTCC(low-temperature cofired ceramics). The MCV was synthesized by sol-gel process using solution that contains precursor molecules for Mg, Co, and V. SEM analysis shows that the average particle size is ${\sim}1{\mu}m$ and size distribution is very uniform compared to the one prepared by conventional solid-state reaction process. Highly dense samples were obtained at the sintering temperature range of $750^{\circ}C{\sim}930^{\circ}C$. The maximum $Q{\times}f_0$ value of 55,700GHz, dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) of 10.41 and temperature coefficient(${\tau}_f$) of $-85ppm/^{\circ}C$ was obtained at the sintering temperature of $930^{\circ}C$. The superior microwave properties of sol-gel processed MCV relative to conventional solid-state reaction processed one is remarkable especially at lower sintering temperatures such as $750^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$.

$Mg_4Nb_2O_9$ (MN) ceramics have been prepared by a sol-gel method. The powder characteristics, phase evolution, and microwave dielectric properties of the MN were investigated in various processing conditions such as sol-gel compositions, calcination, and sintering temperatures. A Qxfo value of 111,717 GHz with a ${\varepsilon}_r$ of 10.59 and a ${\tau}_f$ of $+1.736\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ was obtained after sintering at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 5 h.

$Li[Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ cathode materials have been synthesized by a microwave-assisted sol-gel method. The structure and electrochemical properties of $Li[Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ were studied by X-ray difftactometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and charge-discharge cycler. The powder prepared by microwave assisted sol-gel method showed good crystallinity and well-defined facet shapes. The $Li[Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ electrode delivered a high discharge capacity of 230 $mAhg^{-1}$ at the specific current of 40 $mAg^{-1}$ (0.2 C rate) in the voltage range of 2.0${\sim}$4.8 V. About 60 % of the discharge capacity measured at 0.2 Crate (140 $mAhg^{-1}$) was maintained at a 6 C (1200 $mAg^{-1}$)rate. The cyclic property was also stable and it did not deteriorated at a high Crate.

$NaCaGd(MoO_4)_3:Ho^{3+}/Yb^{3+}$ ternary molybdates were successfully synthesized by microwave sol-gel method for the first time. Well-crystallized particles formed after heat-treatment at $900^{\circ}C$ for 16 h showed a fine and homogeneous morphology with particle sizes of $3-5{\mu}m$. Under excitation at 980 nm, the UC intensities of the doped samples exhibited strong yellow emissions based on the combination of strong emission bands at the 520-nm and 630-nm emission bands in the green and red spectral regions, respectively. The strong 520-nm emission band in the green region corresponds to the $^5S_2/^5F_4{\rightarrow}^5I_8$ transition of $Ho^{3+}$ ions, while the strong 630-nm emission band in the red region appears to be due to the $^5F_5{\rightarrow}^5I_8$ transition of the $Ho^{3+}$ ions. The optimal $Yb^{3+}:Ho^{3+}$ ratio was found at 9:1, as indicated by the composition-dependent quenching effect of $Ho^{3+}$ ions. The pump power dependence of the upconversion emission intensity and the Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates of the phosphors were evaluated in detail.

$KY_{1-x}(WO_4)_2:Ho^{3+}/Yb^{3+}$ yellow phosphors with doping concentrations of $Ho^{3+}$ and $Yb^{3+}$ ($x=Ho^{3+}+Yb^{3+}$, $Ho^{3+}=0.05$, 0.1, 0.2 and $Yb^{3+}=0.2$, 0.45) were successfully prepared using the microwave-modified sol-gel method; their upconversion (UC) photoluminescence properties were investigated in detail. Well-crystallized particles, formed after heat-treatment at $900^{\circ}C$ for 16 h, showed a fine and homogeneous morphology with particle sizes of $2-5{\mu}m$. Under excitation at 980 nm, the UC $KY_{0.7}(WO_4)_2:Ho_{0.1}Yb_{0.2}$ and $KY_{0.5}(WO_4)_2Ho_{0.05}Yb_{0.45}$ particles exhibited excellent yellow emissions based on a strong 545-nm emission band in the green region and a very strong 655-nm emission band in the red region. Pump power dependence and Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage chromaticity of the UC emission intensity were evaluated. The spectroscopic properties were examined comparatively using Raman spectroscopy.

$NaY_{1-x}(WO_4)_2:Ho^{3+}/Yb^{3+}$ phosphors with doping concentrations of $Ho^{3+}$ and $Yb^{3+}$ ($x=Ho^{3+}+Yb^{3+}$, $Ho^{3+}=0.05$, 0.1, 0.2, and $Yb^{3+}=0.2$, 0.45) were successfully synthesized via the cyclic microwave-modified sol-gel route; their upconversion properties were investigated. Well-crystallized particles showed a fine and homogeneous morphology with particle sizes of $2-5{\mu}m$. Under excitation at 980 nm, the synthesized particles exhibited yellow emissions based on a strong 550-nm emission band in the green region and a very strong 655-nm emission band in the red region. The Raman spectra of the doped particles indicated the domination of strong peaks at higher and lower frequencies induced by the incorporation of the $Ho^{3+}$ and $Yb^{3+}$ elements into the $Y^{3+}$ sites in the crystal lattice, which resulted in unit cell shrinkage that accompanied a new phase formation of the $WO_{4-x}$ group.

Double molybdate $NaGd_{1-x}(MoO_4)_2:Ho^{3+}/Yb^{3+}$ phosphors with proper doping concentrations of $Ho^{3+}$ and $Yb^{3+}$ ($x=Ho^{3+}+Yb^{3+}$, $Ho^{3+}=0$ and 0.05, and $Yb^{3+}=0$, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45, and 0.50) were successfully synthesized using the microwave sol-gel method. Well-crystallized particles formed after heat-treatment at $800^{\circ}C$ for 16 h showed fine and homogeneous morphologies with particle sizes of $1{\sim}3{\mu}m$. The spectroscopic properties were examined using photoluminescence emission and Raman spectroscopy. Under excitation at 980 nm, the upconversion doped samples exhibited strong yellow emissions, from the combination of strong emission bands at 545 nm and 655 nm in the green and red spectral regions, respectively. The strong 545 nm emission band in the green region corresponded to the $^5S_2/^5F_4{\rightarrow}^5I_8$ transition in the $Ho^{3+}$ ions, while the strong 655 nm band in the red region appeared because of the $^5F_5{\rightarrow}^5I_8$ transition in the $Ho^{3+}$ ions. $La_{2-x}(MoO_4)_3:Er^{3+}/Yb^{3+}$ particles with doping concentrations of $Er^{3+}$ and $Yb^{3+}$ ($x=Er^{3+}+Yb^{3+}$, $Er^{3+}$=0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and $Yb^{3+}$ = 0.2, 0.45) were successfully prepared by the microwave-modified sol-gel method, and the upconversion photoluminescence properties were investigated. Under excitation at 980 nm, $La_{1.7}(MoO_4)_3:Er_{0.1}Yb_{0.2}$ and $La_{1.5}(MoO_4)_3:Er_{0.05}Yb_{0.45}$ particles exhibited a strong 525 nm emission band, a weak 550 nm emission band in the green region, and a very weak 655 nm emission band in the red region. The Raman spectra of the doped particles indicated the presence of strong peaks at higher frequencies of 752, 846, 922, 1358 and $1435cm^{-1}$ and lower frequency of $314cm^{-1}$ induced by the disorder of the $[MoO_4]^{2-}$ groups with the incorporation of the $Er^{3+}$ and $Yb^{3+}$ elements into the crystal lattice or by a new phase formation.
