This study examined the effects of sheet thickness on electromagnetic wave absorption characteristics and internal microstructure in 92.6%Fe-6.5%Si-0.9%Cr (wt%) alloy flakes/polymer composite sheets available for quasi-microwave band. The composite sheets with the thickness of 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 mm were prepared by tape casting. A significant decrease in transmission parameter $S_{21}$ and a large increase in power loss were observed for the thick composite sheet in the frequency range of 1~5 GHz. However the permeability properties were not affected by thickness variation, while the imaginary part of complex permittivity increased with the increase of sheet thickness at 1~5 GHz. The enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption characteristics in the thicker composite sheets was attributed to the changed microstructure and the higher dielectric loss.
The soft magnetic Fe-Si-Cr flakes with the thickness of about 1 ${\mu}m$ were annealed at 500 and $700^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, and the composite sheets for electromagnetic wave noise absorber available for quasi-microwave band were fabricated by using these annealed flakes and polymer. Further the power loss characteristics of the composite sheets was investigated to clarify the annealing effect on electromagnetic wave absorption properties. The power loss decreased in the frequency range of several GHz when the annealed flakes were used as compared to the sheet using the as-milled FeSiCr alloy flakes. Moreover the sheets using annealed flakes exhibited lower value of real and imaginary part of complex permeability. These inferior electromagnetic wave absorption properties of the composite sheets using annealed alloy flakes were considered to be obtained by the enhanced eddy current effect upon annealing-induced recovery of microstructure and resulted low complex permeability.
Microwave digestion and solid-state extraction were studied for determination of trace aluminum{Al(III)} in human urine samples. A mixed acid of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide was added to urine samples, organic materials were destructed in a home microwave oven and dried in a drying oven. The dried residues were dissolved in a sulfuric acid solution. The solution was eluted through a XAD-4 resin column adsorbed with 8-hydroxyquinoline(Oxine, HQ). Al(III)-8-hydroxyquinolinate complex was formed in the column and eluted with 0.5 M nitric acid solution. The Al(III) eluted was determined by graphite atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Various experimental conditions of followings were investigated for the optimization : the type of acid to dissolve the residues, the amount of HQ adsorbed on the resin, the pH of sample solutions, the type and concentration of acid to elute the complex from column and so on. The contents of Al(III) in real samples were determinated by a calibration curve method. The recovery in standard spiked samples was 94~101% and the detection limit of this procedure was 0.05 ng/mL.
Composites of $Fe_{93.5}Si_{6.5}$ powder and epoxy were prepared using a thermal curing process. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and network analyzer were used to analyze the structure, electromagnetic properties and microwave absorption of the composites. Results show that the saturation magnetization depends on the fraction of the $Fe_{93.5}Si_{6.5}$ powder in the composite, which affects initial permeability. It is believed that the eddy current loss is a dominant factor over 1 GHz and that the resonance frequency of the composite decreases with increasing fractions of $Fe_{93.5}Si_{6.5}$ powder. Finally, reflection loss was calculated from the permeability and permittivity of these composites. Composite with 50 wt.% $Fe_{93.5}Si_{6.5}$ powder fractions and 5 mm thickness showed reflection loss below -20 dB from 3.66 GHz to 4.16 GHz. Therefore, it is believed that thin Fe-Si/epoxy composites may be a good candidate for microwave absorption application.

Hexavalent chromium($Cr^{+6}$) compounds are considered to be particularly hazardous, primarily because of the associated risk of allergic reaction and cancer. The analytic method of hexavalent chromium such as the s-diphenylcarba-zide(DPC) method and all ether previously used methods are often made uncertain due to significant interferences from organic components. This report can provide a technique for the more rapid and simple determination of total hexavalent chromium. than other currently using methods. The s-diphenylcarbazide method proposed by the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has low recovery rate(15.67 - 48.20%) due to interference, iron chloride and nickel chloride. A microwave oven technique has high recovery rate(about 70%) of insoluble hexavalent chromium. For the difference of ionic charges of $Cr^{+3}$-ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA) chelate and $CrO_4{^{-2}}$, we could detect them simultaneously by ion exchanged high performance liquid chromatography. The confirmation of $Cr^{+3}$ and $Cr^{+6}$ were checked by fraction collector and flameless atomic absorption spectrometer. We observed that the small amount of hexavalent chromium is converted to trivalent chromium due to enhancement of chromium reduction by $Fe^{+3}$ or $Ni^{+2}$. As a result of this study, on the analysis of insoluble hexavalent chromium with microwave oven was used for, it may be better and more precise analysis after pretreatment by 2% NaOH-3% $Na_2CO_3$ and then analysis UV-spectrophotometer. It should be done for various studies on insoluble hexavalent chromium on the basis work environmental monitoring so called welding, painting etc.
This paper introduces a microwave-assisted synthesis method to prepare hybrid $Bi_2Se_3-GR/TiO_2$ nanocomposites, which exhibit superior properties over single component materials. The as-prepared composites were characterized by XRD, UV-vis absorbance spectra, SEM,TEM, EDX, and BET analyses, revealing uniform covering of the graphene nanosheet with $Bi_2Se_3$ and $TiO_2$ nanocrystals. For visible light photocatalysis of Rh.B, a significant enhancement in the reaction rate was consequently observed with $Bi_2Se_3-GR/TiO_2$ composites. The degradation rate($k_{app}$) obtained for sonophotocatalysis was $6.8{\times}10^{-3}min^{-1}$, roughly 2.2 times better than that of VL photocatalysis under higher concentrations of Rh.B. The sonophotocatalysis was faster due to greater formation of reactive radicals as well as an increase of the active surface area of the $Bi_2Se_3-GR/TiO_2$ composites. The high activity is attributed to the synergetic effects of high charge mobility and red shift of the absorption edge of $Bi_2Se_3-GR/TiO_2$.

Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy and precision of airborne metal analysis using polyvinyl chloride(PVC) membrane filter by pretreatment methods. Methods: A total of 75 spiked PVC samples for Cr, Fe and Mn ranged from 6 ug/sample to 40 ug/sample were used to evaluate recovery rates for three pretreatment methods: acid extraction, hot plate ashing and microwave digestion. For Mn, an additional 75 spiked mixed cellulose ester(MCE) membrane filters were analysed to compare the recovery rates of PVC samples. All samples were analysed with an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer(ICP-OES) and manganese samples were additionally analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometer(AAS). Results: The overall mean recovery rates of PVC samples for Cr, Fe and Mn were 90% or higher regardless of pretreatment methods, but there were statistically significant differences in recovery rates for Cr(p<0.05) and Mn(p<0.01) samples by pretreatment methods. The biases and the coefficient variations of PVC samples for three metals pretreated with three kinds of pretreatment methods ranged from 1.7% to 4.7% and from 1.6% to 6.5%, respectively. The manganese PVC samples pretreated by microwave digestion and analyzed with ICP-OES had the lowest bias at 1.9% and also showed lower bias than the bias for MCE samples, 2.7%. Conclusions: In order to accurately analyze the metals sampled with PVC membrane filters, microwave digestion and ICP-OES can be recommended.

This study examined the synthesis of the crystal structure of bis(2,2'-bipyridine)nitrato zinc (II) nitrate, $[Zn(bipy)_2(NO_3)]^+NO_3^-$ using a microwave treatment at 300 W and 60 Hz for the application to dye-sensitized solar cells. The simulated complex structure of the complex was optimized with the density functional theory calculations for the UV-vis spectrum of the ground state using Gaussian 03 at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ level. The structure of the acquired complex was expected a penta-coordination with four nitrogen atoms of bipyridine and the oxygen bond of the $NO_3^-$ ion. The reflectance UV-vis absorption spectra exhibited two absorptions (L-L transfers) that were assigned to the transfers from the ligand ($\sigma$, $\pi$) of $NO_3$ to the ligand ($\sigma^*$, $\pi^*$) of pyridine at around 200 - 350 nm, and from the non-bonding orbital (n) of O in $NO_3$ to the p-orbital of pyridine at around 450 - 550 nm, respectively. The photoelectric efficiency was approximately 0.397% in the dye-sensitized solar cells with the nanometer-sized $TiO_2$ at an open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.39 V, a short-circuit current density (Jsc) of $1.79\;mA/cm^2$, and an incident light intensity of $100\;mW/cm^2$.

열 중착 방법을 이용하여 copper(II)-phthalocyanine(CuPc) 박막을 glass 기판 위에 제작하였다. CuPc 박막의 전기전도도 특성을 UV 흡수도를 통한 HOMO(highest occupied molecular orbital), LUMO(lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) 준위의 밴드갭의 shift 현상과 관련지어 설명하였다. 박막 표면 특성은 SEM(scanning microscope microscopy)을 통해 관측하였다.
