Objectives: The aim of the current study is to investigate the effect of different anticaries agents, such as experimental agents based on silver nanoparticles (SNPs) and silver diamine fluoride (SDF), on the micro-shear bond strength (μ-SBS) of composite resin applied to intact enamel (IE) or demineralized enamel (DE). Materials and Methods: Sixty dental enamel fragments were collected from human third molars and categorized into 6 groups (n = 10): positive control (IE), negative control (DE), IE + SDF, DE + SDF, IE + SNP and DE + SNP. Samples from DE, DE + SDF and DE + SNP groups were subjected to pH cycling; superficial microhardness test was performed to confirm demineralization. Resin composite build-ups were applied to the samples (0.75-mm diameter and 1-mm height) after the treatments (except for IE and DE groups); μ-SBS was also evaluated. Samples were analyzed under a stereomicroscope at 40× magnification to identify failure patterns. Data were subjected to one-way analysis of variance, followed by Tukey's and Dunnett's tests (p < 0.05). Results: There was no significant difference among the IE, IE + SNP, DE + SDF, and DE + SNP groups. The IE + SDF and DE groups recorded the highest and the lowest μ-SBS values, respectively. Adhesive-type failures were the most frequent for all treatments. Conclusions: Anticaries agents did not have a negative effect on the μ-SBS of composite resin when it was used on IE or DE.

As semiconductor devices become highly integrated and process difficulty increases, the need for highly sensitive sensors that can detect micro leaks is increasing. However, the noise contained in the CCD sensor itself acts as an obstacle to detecting fine leaks. In this study, integration time was changed for each condition, the sensor was cooled to 0℃, and the dark voltage level was measured to confirm through experiment the characteristics of the temporal noise included in the CCD sensor, a component of OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy). When integration time was reduced from 30msec to 10msec, the dark voltage level decreased by about 20.5 % from an average of 151.5mV to 120.5mV. In the case of cooling device, Peltier elements were selected because of their simple structure and small size. During temperature cooling, the target temperature was controlled to within ±0.5℃ through PID control. When cooled from 20℃ to 0℃ using this cooling device, it was confirmed that the dark voltage level decreased by about 7% from an average of 147.0mV to 137.0mV.

The heat of hydration for early aged mass concrete induces high temperature with the hydration. Control of the temperature difference across a section is an effective strategy to minimize the hydration heat induced cracks for the structures where internal restraint is dominant. The current prevention methods for hydration cracking show some limitations for the control of thermal gradients, and these limitations could make micro and macro cracks in surface and core of concrete. Especially cooling methods can decrease the increasing hydration temperature, but it can not prevent the problem while decreasing temperature. Consequently heating pipes are added simultaneously with the cooling pipes in order to control the temperature gradients between core and surface of the concrete, followed by the finite element analysis (FEA). Based on the FEA, the proposed method using cooling pipe and heating pipes together has been found to be an effective alternative in thermal gradient control, in terms of controlling temperature induced cracks significantly.
Optical characteristics of InGaAs quantum dot (QD) laser structures with an Al native oxide (AlOx) layer as a current-blocking layer were studied by means of photoluminescence (PL), PL excitation, and spatially-resolved micro-PL techniques. The InGaAs QD samples were first grown by molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE), and then prepared by wet oxidation and thermal annealing techniques. For the InGaAs QD structures treated by the wet oxidation and thermal annealing processes, a broad PL emission due to the intermixing effect of the AlOx layer was observed at PL emission energy higher than that of the non-intermixed region. We observed a dominant InGaAs QD emission at about 1.1 eV in the non-oxide AlAs region, while InGaAs QD-related emissions at about 1.16 eV and $1.18{\sim}1.20eV$ were observed for the AlOx and the SiNx regions, respectively. We conclude that the intermixing effect of the InGaAs QD region under an AlOx layer is stronger than that of the InGaAs QD region under a non-oxided AlAs layer.

It is intended to understand the status of current research in the areas of heating, cooling, ventilation, sanitation, and indoor environments of buildings and plant facilities. Conclusions are as follows. (1) Research trends in thermal and fluid engineering have been surveyed in the categories of general fluid flow, fluid machinery and piping, new and renewable energy, and fire. Well-developed CFD technologies were widely applied in developing facilities and their systems. New research topics include fire, fuel cell, and solar energy. Research was mainly focused on flow distribution and optimization in the fields of fluid machinery and piping. Topics related to the development of fans and compressors had been popular, but were no longer investigated widely. Research papers on micro heat exchangers using nanofluids and micro pumps were also not presented during this period. There were some studies on thermal reliability and performance in the fields of new and renewable energy. Numerical simulations of smoke ventilation and the spread of fire were the main topics in the field of fire. (2) Research works on heat transfer presented in 2008 have been reviewed in the categories of heat transfer characteristics, industrial heat exchangers, and ground heat exchangers. Research on heat transfer characteristics included thermal transport in cryogenic vessels, dish solar collectors, radiative thermal reflectors, variable conductance heat pipes, and flow condensation and evaporation of refrigerants. In the area of industrial heat exchangers, examined are research on micro-channel plate heat exchangers, liquid cooled cold plates, fin-tube heat exchangers, and frost behavior of heat exchanger fins. Measurements on ground thermal conductivity and on the thermal diffusion characteristics of ground heat exchangers were reported. (3) In the field of refrigeration, many studies were presented on simultaneous heating and cooling heat pump systems. Switching between various operation modes and optimizing the refrigerant charge were considered in this research. Studies of heat pump systems using unutilized energy sources such as sewage water and river water were reported. Evaporative cooling was studied both theoretically and experimentally as a potential alternative to the conventional methods. (4) Research papers on building facilities have been reviewed and divided into studies on heat and cold sources, air conditioning and air cleaning, ventilation, automatic control of heat sources with piping systems, and sound reduction in hydraulic turbine dynamo rooms. In particular, considered were efficient and effective uses of energy resulting in reduced environmental pollution and operating costs. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of microcurrent on fatigue of muscles in people who were flat-footed during gait. Methods: 10 flat-footed university students volunteered to participate in this study. 10 flat-footed subjects were divided into 2 groups, one group was experimental group of 5subjects(This group put on microcurrent induction shoes but the subjects were not able to feel the current.) and the other group was the control group of 5subjects(This group put on the general shoes which were similar in shape but microcurrent was not induced.) to perform double blind test and random sampling. Their gait muscle fatigue of 6 regions (vastus medialis, gastrocnemius, tibialis anterior, biceps femoris, erector spinae, and rectus abdominis muscle.) was measured by EMG MP150, Delsys Inc Boston, USA during walking and then they carried out the Harvard step with a platform (It was a arbitrarily made wooden platform of 100cm long, 50cm wide, 60cm high. They carried out climbing it for one second and descending it for one second by using the Metronome program, total 5minutes) for 5minutes. Right after that, the subjects walked on a treadmill at a speed of 4km/h for 10minutes and then their gait muscle fatigue of 6regions was assessed while they were walking on the ground as equally as before exercise. Results: The experimental group has resulted in lower average differences in gait muscle fatigue before and after exercise than those of the control group average 12.24Hz(P=0.009) at vastus medialis, average 8.52Hz(P=0.016) at gastrocnemius, average 9.16Hz(P=0.009) at tibialis anterior, average 8.66Hz(P=0.047) at biceps femoris, average 7.53Hz(P=0.016) at erector spinae, and average 7.80Hz(P=0.047) at rectus abdominis. All of the assessments of muscles have shown significant difference statistically. Conclusions: This result has shown that the use of micro current could decrease gait muscle fatigue of flat-footed people. It is recommended to use a microcurrent to reduce their gait muscle fatigue.

A transparent antenna designed on the front glass of an automobile operating in the FM broadcast band(88~108 MHz) is proposed. A transparent antenna designed on the front glass of the automobile to avoid space limitation is typically positioned as a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna. An antenna designed on the front glass can reasonably solve the problems of low reception sensitivity and radiated interference from antennas for other service bands. The front glass has a unique closed-line structure, and this structure causes the surface current to flow to the front glass's surroundings; thus, the first resonance is caused before the broadcast band. Through the use of this closed-line structure, the surface current distribution is controlled, and an antenna for which the first resonance is operating in the frequency-modulated(FM) band can be designed. Moreover, the use of a micro-metal-mesh film that is a transparent electrode, suitable for designing a radio frequency device, enables the antenna to minimize visual perception through its transparency. The measured reflection coefficient($S_{11}$) of the antenna is less than -6 dB, and the average peak gain is -0.9 dB in the FM band. Experiments show that the transparent antenna on the front glass offers both the space and design freedom required to develop future automotive antennas.

Generally. the Ohmic's law is an important factor to increase the conductivity in a micro device. So it is also known that the Ohmic contact in a semiconductor device is import. The PN junction as a structure of semiconductor involves the depletion layer, and this depletion layer induces the non linear electrical properties and also makes the Schottky contact as an intrinsic characteristics of semiconductor. To research the conduction effect of insulators in the semiconductor device, $SiO_2$ thin film and $V_2O_5/SiO_2$ thin film were researched by using the current-voltage system. In the nano electro-magnetic system, the $SiO_2$ thin film as a insulator had the non linear Schottky contact, and the as deposited $V_2O_5$ thin film had the linear Ohmic contact owing to the $SiO_2$ thin film with superior insulator's properties, which decreases the leakage current. In the positive voltage, the capacitance of $SiO_2$ thin film was very low, but that of $V_2O_5$ thin film increased with increasing the voltage. In the normal electric field system, it was confirmed that the conductivity of $V_2O_5$ thin film was increased by the effect of $SiO_2$ thin film. It was confirmed that the Schottky contact of semiconductors enhanced the performance of electrical properties to increased the conductivity.

The current society, namely information society is now moving to a specific topic which is SMART. In this sense, recently a variety of social areas including communications and SOC domains are moving fast to this topic. In Korea, The electric power area has been doing a pioneering job relatively successfully and the water supply area is just now taking the first step. The purpose of this research is to develop a technical Framework for Smart Water Grid Service. Related researches has been studied and the 4 constituting technical element areas were defined first. For each of the four areas, a framework modeling was fulfilled and as a result, a TRM(Technical Road Map) was suggested for each of the area. Finally, an Enterprise TRM covering all of the 4 areas was described. Furthermore, the currently suggested Framework model was compared to a related model and it was found that the integration of the models is desirable to wholly cover from Macro to Micro level applications and services. It is expected that the current approach contribute, more or less, to the smart implementation in the areas of water management.
