In wire-electrical discharge machining (W-EDM), the dielectric plays an important role as the working fluid. It affects the material removal rate and the properties of the machined surface. This paper deals with the effects of the electrical conductivity of dielectric and cobalt percentage of sintered carbides on the machining characteristics and the machined surface integrities with deionized water as dielectric. A series of experiments have been performed on sintered carbides having different cobalt contents. Experimental results show that a higher cobalt content of WC decreases the metal removal rate and worsens the surface quality. Lower electrical conductivity of the dielectric results in a higher metal removal rate as the gap between wire electrode and workpiece reduced. Especially, the surface integrities of rough-cut workpiece, wire electrode, and debris were analyzed also through scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and surface roughness tester. By energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS), it is confirmed that micro cracks and some of electrode material are found on the workpiece surface.

Allelic diversity of 44 microsatellite marker loci originated from the coding regions of specific genes or the non-coding regions of barley genome was analyzed for 19 barley genotypes. Multi-allelic variation was observed at the most of marker loci except for HVM13, HVM15, HVM22, and HVM64. The number of different alleles ranged from 2 to 12 with a mean of 4.0 alleles per micro-satellite. Twenty-one alleles derived from 10 marker loci are specific for certain genotypes. The level of polymorphism (Polymorphic Information Content, PIC) based on the band pattern frequencies among genotypes was relatively high at the several loci such as HVM3, HVM5, HVM14, HVM36, HVM62 and HVM67. In the cluster analysis using genetic similarity matrix calculated from microsatellite-derived DNA profiles, two major groups were classified and the spike-row type was a major factor for clustering. Correlation between genetic similarity matrices based on microsatellite markers and pedigree data was highly significant ($r=0.57^{**}$), but these two parameters were moderately associated each other. On the other hand, RAPD-based genetic similarity matrix was more highly associated with microsatellite-based genetic similarity ($r=0.63^{**}$) than coefficient of parentage.
We studied on the production of the ceramic by the mineral-Oriental medicine and the property of the clean active water depositting on the ceramic stone. The results are as follows: We properly mixed of maifanshi, mica, ochre, and added to a small amount cinnabar, and therefore formed the ceramic stone. By the plasticity process and the irradiating magnetic force recovered the disappeared a part of constitutent elements. The recovered effects were become higher the freshness, maintenance, deodoriztion, clean water. As well as having the ability on capture of the notoxious heavy metal on human. The ceramic powder were mixed proper dose maifanshi, mica. And the powder had ionization, absorption, adhesion by the plasticity process and magnetic force. The clean active water of depositting on the ceramic stone during 24hours were observed significant the content of micro element, dissolved oxygen, abstraction on Herbs.
The effects of tipping paper permeability and plugwrap porosity on the ventilation and the pressure drop of cigarettes have been studied and the results obtained were as follows. 1. The single and the multiple regression equation to estimate tip ventilation were establised. In the equations, the observed values of the tip ventilation with the varieties the plugwrap porosity were content with them by the single regression equation. 2. As based on the statistical consideration of the above equation, the deviation of the observed tip ventilation versus the tipping paper permeability were higher than them to the plugwrap porosity. 3. The regression equations to calculate pressure drop ratio and the total ventilation rate in filter tip from the tea ventilation were obtained. According to the equation, the observed values of the pressure drop ratio were significantly similar to them calculated. 4. It was found that the equations could be applied to the calculation of the ventilation of cigarettes using the mechanical and micro laser perforation tipping paper as well as the electrically perforated tipping paper of this Study.
This review was to elucidate the fate of Bentazon(3-isopropyl-1H-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4(3H)-one-2,2-dioxide) and its metabolites in soil. Bentazon is rapidly degraded to form polar metabolites which are mostly adsorbed to soil components, such as humin or fulvic acid, as non extractable forms and mineralized into $CO_2$ by light or micro-organisms in both aerobic or nonaerobic condition. The degradation of Bentazon is dependent on the rate of organic matters in soil and the use of land for the tillage. The degradation rate is decreased as the amount of organic matters in soil increases and if the land is under use for tillage. Sorption and mobility of Bentazon depends on soil pH and the content of organic matters in soil. Usually, the sorption of the metabolites of Bentazon is decreased with increase in the mobility and pH. Almost all of Bentazon is degraded within rhizosphere or forms conjugate bonds with soil organic matters before it reaches to the ground water.
Distribution of benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) in Seoul surface soils was investigated with a simple micro-analytical method consisting of ultrasonic extraction, one-dimensional dual band thin-layer chromatographic separation (TLC) and spectrofluorometric determination. The TLC was done in the following condition: thin-layer plate; Kieselguhr G/Acetylated cellulose, Developer; 1st; ether, 2nd; methanol-ether-water (4:4:1, V/V). The results thus obtained were as follows; 1. All the samples collected from various areas were contained detectable amount of benzo(a)pyrene. The range and average of benzo(a)pyrene contents in Seoul areas are 0.20 $\sim$5.90ppm and 1.01 ppm, respectively. 2. Benzo(a)pyrene contents in soils obtained from commercial areas were much higher than those in industrial and residential areas. The contents range in commercial, industrial, and residential areas are 0.31 $\sim$ 5.90 ppm, 0.36 $\sim$ 1.22 ppm and 0.20 $\sim$ 0.67 ppm, respectively. 3. Benzo(a)pyrene contents in soils from major roads were far higher than those from side or park roads. The ranges of benzo(a)pyrene contents in major, park and side road are 0.40 $\sim$ 5.9 ppm, 0.20 $\sim$ 0.70 ppm, 0.31 $\sim$ 1.30 ppm, respectively. These findings suggest strongly that surface soils in Seoul city are polluted by benzo(a)pyrene probably emitted automobiles.
In the present study, catalytic combustion of hydrogen-air premixture in a millimeter scale monolith coated with Pt catalyst was investigated. As the combustor size decreases, the heat loss increases in proportion with the inverse of the scale of combustion chamber and combustion efficiency decreases in a conventional type of combustor. Combustion reaction assisted by catalyst can reduce the heat loss by decreasing the reaction temperature at which catalytic conversion takes place. Another advantage of catalytic combustion is that ignition is not required. Platinum was coated by incipient wetness method on a millimeter scale monolith with cell size of $1{\times}1mm$. Using this monolith as the core of the reaction chamber, temperatures were recorded at various locations along the flow direction. Burnt gas was passed to a gas chromatography system to measure the hydrogen content after the reaction. The measurements were made at various volume flow rate of the fuel-air premixture. The gas chromatography results showed the reaction was complete at all the test conditions and the reacting species penetrated the laminar boundary layer at the honeycomb and made contact with the catalyst coated surface. At all the measuring locations, the record showed monotonous increase of temperature during the measurement duration. And the temperature profile showed that the peak temperature is reached at the point nearest to the gas inlet and decreasing temperature along the flow direction.
The study for producing the flake powders by milling of aluminum foil and gas atomized powders was carried out. The effects of lifter bars on the ball motions and milling of aluminum foils were also investigated. The aluminum foils were laminated each other, elongated, fragmented into small foils and finally formed into the flake powders during the dry ball-milling. The spherical atomized-powders were milled to coarse flake powders with high aspect ratio and then changed to fine flake powders with lower aspect ratio. Even though long times were required for making flake powders by milling of foils, the water covering areas of them were higher than those of powders milled using gas-atomized powders, suggesting aluminum foils were more plastically deformed by micro-forging. On the other hand, as the number of lifter bars increased, the necessary rotation speeds of milling jar for cascading mode and cataracting mode decreased drastically. It was possible to achieve same quality of milled flake powder by using the lifter bars under the lower milling speeds. The painting test showed that the appearance of painted surface was good and optimum content range of aluminum paste in car paint to maximize the degree of gloss was 3-5%.
We characterized the smelting process and smelting furnace through scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, and raman micro-spectroscopy with 13 relics including slags and furnace walls excavated from square-shaped building sites and pits of the Three Kingdoms site at the Ungyo site section I. Our results revealed that the principal components were FeO and SiO2; and CuO, PbO, and ZnO were contained in small quantities. Furthermore, fayalite, magnetite, augite, copper, and cuprite were found. High contents of FeO or SiO2 components seem to have been added to form fayalite to remove gangue in the smelting process. The relatively low content of S detected in the copper prills suggests that roasting was performed well. Cristobalite and mullite, which are minerals that indicate high-temperature found in the furnace wall, show that the smelting temperature was higher than 1,250℃. The findings of this study show a high possibility that the Wanju Ungyo site is smelting remains of copper ores, which are nonferrous metals, rather than iron. Various smelting byproducts excavated in this area in the future will help us better understand the copper smelting process that may have been performed since ancient times.
Volatile components in Olive Flounder fed diets containing 0, 2,5, 5.0, and 7.5% yuza (Citrus junas Sieb ex Tanaka) for 4 months were investigated. Samples were extracted by solid-phase micro extraction and analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Among 89 compounds detected, 82 were positively identified. Volatile compounds of Olive Flounder fed the unsupplemented diet comprised 12 acids, 10 alcohols, eight aldehydes, five aromatic compounds, nine esters, 12 hydrocarbons, four ketones, two monoterpenes, and one miscellaneous compound. Compounds identified in Olive Flounder fed the yuza-supplemented diets consisted of 10 esters, 11 monoterpenes, 13 sesquiterpenes, and two miscellaneous compounds, with the other compounds being the same as in the control. The most abundant class of compounds in flounders fed the yuza-supplemented diet was the monoterpenes, which included limonene, $\beta$-terpinene, $\beta$-trans-ocimene, and $\alpha$-terpinolene. Of the 13 sesquiterpenes identified in flounder fed the yuza-supplemented diet, bicyclogermacrene was the major volatile compound followed by allo-aromadendrene, trans-caryophyllene, and $\delta$-cadinene. Bicyclogermacrene and germacrene D content increased significantly as the yuza supplementation increased.
