  • A precision micro-positioning system with a high displacement resolution and wide motion range has been required for industrialized applications in variety fields. This paper discusses the design of a precision micro-rotation stage with flexure hinges. Proposed system is applied to grinding machine for micro parts. Rotational motion is generated with this system. For this systems having a full rotation motion with high precision, a dual servo system with a coarse stage and a fine stage is proposed.

  • An optical technique to align the laser beam with the rotation axis of a cylindrical microstructure is developed for laser microfabrication. The sample surface is first set normal to the rotation axis by applying a simple reflection law of geometrical optics and then the laser beam is aligned with the rotation axis using translation stages with quadrant photodiodes. Principle and the configuration of the alignment technique are described. An application of the present technique to laser microstereolithography showed that it could be effectively used for fabrication of micro cylindrical structures.

  • In this study, the micro shaft was fabricated by high speed etching process. The integration of the kinetic energy of circumference and the effect of etching takes less time to fabricate the micro shaft than any other conventional methods. First, the end part of the rod(SKD11) was dipped in chemical solution(FeCl$_3$) and the rod rotated at high speed(3500-10000rpm). Experimental setup was simply composed of high speed motor. chemical solution and $\Phi$ 1 mm rod. The main factors of diameter control are chemical concentration, reaction time and rpm. has a result. the diameter of the dipped rod was decreased by 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ by high speed rotation and its shape and surface was good. From this experiment, we found the possibility to manufacture micro shaft without very expensive equipment.

  • Micro former has been known as a useful tool for machining micro parts. It makes micro holes automatically with punches, a hole-shape die and material by rotation of crank shaft synchronously. Micro displacement in micro forming affects on the performance of machining because micro forming size is similar with its mechanical displacement. Therefore, the measurement of this micro displacement is essential to be guaranteed to obtain high forming precision in the whole machine as well as its devices. This paper addresses the development of a laser interferometer to measure micro displacement for a micro former. The laser interferometer is able to measure micro displacement during a few micro seconds with non-contact. For the experiment, a laser probe is installed on the optical table with optical devices and a micro displacement generating device. The velocity decoding board is also added to calculate doppler shift frequency directly. Finally simple experiments are conducted to confirm its functional operation.

  • The usage of Friction Stir Welding(FSW) technology has been increasing in order to reduce the weight in automobile industries. Previous studies that investigated on the FSW have focused on the aluminum alloy. In this study, Al6061-T6 alloy plates having 5 mm of thickness were welded under nine different conditions from three tool rotation speeds: 900, 1000 and 1100 rpm, and three feed rates: 270, 300 and 330 mm/min. Specimen size of Micro Shear Punch(MSP) test was $10{\times}10{\times}0.5mm$. The mechanical properties were evaluated by MSP test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The specimens were classified by advancing side(AS), retreating side(RS), and center(C) of width of tool shoulder. The optimal welding condition of FSW based on micro strengh was obtained when the tool rotation speed was 1100 rpm and the feed rate was 300 mm/min. The maximum load measured AS, RS, and C in the weldment was measured 554.7 N, 642.9 N, and 579.2 N, respectively.

  • The CORDIC algorithm can be implemented very simple H/W, but needs a lot of latency to compute trigonometric function. The RA(Redundant Arithmetic) resolves this problem, but also has difficulty to determine the directions of micro-rotations. The pre-computed direction of micro-rotation algorithm relieves the RA of this matter. In this paper, we proposed the modified the pre-computed algorithm adopted with a table-lookup. Instead of reducing H/W complexity, its performance and calculation errors are improved.

  • Before the Flap type GATE is introduced until, the Turnstile type GATE was plentifully used. The Turnstile type GATE is used plentifully from the Seoul metro, Busan Transportation Corporation and Korea Railroad Corporation. From the Turnstile type GATE, the micro switch breakdown is occurred by the contact of the micro switch which perceives a Turnstile rotation and the cam. The breakdown is cause of the passenger inconveniently. In order to prevent the breakdown which is caused by Micro switch contact, Microswitch support used the sensor in Turnstile rotation perception. The sensor which is used in test is Photo Sensor and Reed Sensor two type. The test result Reed Sensor was suitable in underground environment. When using the RF card, RF card processing came to be quick

  • The rotation of a spindle unit must be accurate for high-quality machining and to improve the quality of the machine tools. Therefore, the proper measurement of the rotation accuracy and ensuring a proper analysis are very important. Separate processes are necessary because spindle errors and roundness errors associated with the test balls can both factor into the measured rotation error values. We used three methods to discern test ball errors and analyzed which could be deemed as the most proper technique in a test of the rotation accuracy of the main spindle of a machine tool.

  • This paper aims to investigate the effect of rotation on a micropolar thermoelastic medium with voids problem. The problem is assessed according to three-phase-lag model. The normal mode analysis used to obtain the analytical expressions of the considered variables. The non-dimensional displacement, temperature, Micro rotation, the change in the volume fraction field, and stress of the material are obtained and illustrated graphically. Comparisons are made with the results predicted by two theories; namely three- phase-lag model (3PHL) and Green-Naghdi theory of type III (G-N III). The considered variables were plotted for different values of the rotation parameter, the phase-lag of heat flux and the phase-lag of temperature. The numerical results reveal that the rotation and the phase-lag times significantly influence the distribution of the field quantities. Some particular cases of interest are deduced from the present investigation.
