Synthesis and characterization of ZnO structure such as nanowires, nanorods, nanotube, nanowall, etc. have been studied to multifunctional application such as optical, nanoscale electronic and chemical devices because it has a room-temperature wide band gap of 3.37eV, large exiton binding energy(60meV) and various properties. Various synthesis methods including chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition, electrochemical deposition, micro-emulsion, and hydrothermal approach have been reported to fabricate various kinds of ZnO nanostructures. But some of these synthesis methods are expensive and difficult of mass production. Wet chemical method has several advantage such as simple process, mass production, low temperature process, and low cost. In the present work, ZnO nanorods are deposited on ITO/glass substrate by simple wet chemical method. The process is perfomed by two steps. One-step is deposition of ZnO seeds and two-step is growth of ZnO nanorods on substrates. In order to form ZnO seeds on substrates, mixture solution of Zn acetate and Methanol was prepared.(one-step) Seed layers were deposited for control of morpholgy of ZnO seed layers by spin coating process because ZnO seeds is deposited uniformly by centrifugal force of spin coating. The seed-deposited samples were pre-annealed for 30min at $180^{\circ}C$ to enhance adhesion and crystallinnity of ZnO seed layer on substrate. Vertically well-aligned ZnO nanorods were grown by the "dipping-and-holding" process of the substrates into the mixture solution consisting of the mixture solution of DI water, Zinc nitrate and hexamethylenetetramine for 4 hours at $90^{\circ}C$.(two-step) It was found that density and morphology of ZnO nanorods were controlled by manipulation of ZnO seeds through rpm of spin coating. The morphology, crystallinity, optical properties of the grown ZnO nanostructures were carried out by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution electron microscopy, photoluminescence, respectively. We are convinced that this method is complementing problems of main techniques of existing reports.
We have constructed and analyzed the performance of a simple fiber bundle multi-focal microscope. The microscope had a fiber bundle substituted for micro-lens array that is the core part of MMM(multi-focal multi-photon microscope). The MMM is a type of confocal microscope. To analyze the performance and characteristics of the fiber bundle multi-focal microscope, three types of samples were used: a standard grating, USAF 1951(7, 3), and 1951(7, 6). Using two polarizers and a polarizing beam splitter, we eliminated noise and got clear images. We obtained the FWHM of fiber spot images with the standard grating using two different magnifier lenses which were 63X and 20X, and found an image of the sample as a distribution of fiber spot images. For this case we used the low magnification lens, which gives denser distribution, so that we could get clearer images. In order to test the resolution of the fiber bundle multi-focal microscopic system, we used the USAF 1951 sample which has a smaller line interval than that of the standard grating. The FWHM of the line width of the image coincides well with the real line width of the USAF 1951 sample. We confirmed the performance of a fiber bundle multi-focal microscopic system which is relatively simple but has submicron resolution and is able to get 1600 images at the same time.

Recently, on-line process monitoring systems using sensors are being extensively used to produce highquality products. However, the difficulty in installing the sensors within the mold in the cases of micro-molds, optical molds, and molds with complex structures is a serious disadvantage of such process monitoring systems. In this study, the quantitative index of a process monitoring system was evaluated with the mold cavity pressure and the nozzle pressure for the injection molding machine. In order to evaluate the effect of the nozzle pressure, we performed correlation analysis for the weight of the molded product. We also examined the control characteristics of the injection molding machine by analyzing the effect of multistage injection speed, holding pressure, and injection pressure limit on the process monitoring data.

Reaction wheel assemblies(RWA) are expected to be one of the largest high frequency disturbance sources to the optical payload of satellites. To ensure the tight pointing-stability budget and high image quality of satellites, a vibration isolation device should be applied to the main disturbances. For developing the isolating system, the disturbances need to be identified and modeled accurately. In the present study, a modeling technique of RWA and its disturbance was described. The micro-vibration disturbances were generated numerically by using an analytical wheel and disturbance model. The parameter estimation scheme of the model was suggested, and the RWA and disturbance modeling technique was verified through the numerical example analysis. The analytical results show that the wheel and disturbance model can be accurately established by using the modeling technique proposed in the present study. The wheel and disturbance model is expected to be useful for development of the RWA isolator system.
Among various metal oxide semiconductors, ZnO has an excellent electrical, optical properties with a wide bandgap of 3.3 eV. It can be applied as a photocatalytic material due to its high absorption rate along with physical and chemical stability to UV light. In addition, it is important to control the morphology of ZnO because the size and shape of the ZnO make difference in physical properties. In this paper, we demonstrate synthesis of size-controlled ZnO tetrapods using an atmospheric pressure plasma system. A micro-sized Zn spherical powder was continuously introduced in the plume of the atmospheric plasma jet ignited with mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. The effect of plasma power and collection sites on ZnO nanostructure was investigated. After the plasma discharge for 10 min, the produced materials deposited inside the 60-cm-long quartz tube were obtained with respect to the distance from the plume. According to the SEM analysis, all the synthesized nanoparticles were found to be ZnO tetrapods ranging from 100 to 600-nm-diameter depending on both applied power and collection site. The photocatalytic efficiency was evaluated by color change of methylene blue solution using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity increased with the increase of (101) and (100) plane in ZnO tetrapods, which is caused by enhanced chemical effects of plasma process.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the machining accuracy and consistency of implant/abutment/screw combination or internal connection type. Material and methods: In this study, each two randomly selected internal implant fixtures from ITI, 3i, Avana, Bicon, Friadent, Astra, and Paragon system were used. Each abutment was connected to the implant with 32Ncm torque value using a digital torque controller or tapping. All samples were cross-sectioned with grinder-polisher unit (Omnilap 2000 SBT Inc) after embeded in liquid unsaturated polyester (Epovia, Cray Valley Inc). Then optical microscopic and scanning electron microscopic(SEM) evaluations of the implant-abutment interfaces were conducted to assess quality of fit between the mating components. Results : 1) Generally, the geometry of the internal connection system provided for a precision fit of the implant/abutment into interface. 2) The most precision fit of the implant/abutment interface was provided in the case of Bicon System which has not screw. 3) The fit of the implant/abutment interface was usually good in the case of ITI, 3I and Avana system and the amount of fit of the implant/abutment interface was similar to each other. 4) The fit of the implant/abutment interface was usually good in the case of Friadent, Astra and Paragon system. The case of Astra system with the inclined contacting surface had the most Intimate contact among them. 5) Amount of intimate contact in the abutment screw thread to the mating fixture was larger in assembly with two-piece type which is separated screw from abutment such as Friadent, Astra and Paragon system than in that with one-piece type which is not seperated screw from abutment such as ITI, 3I and Avana system. 6) Amount of contact in the screw and the screw seat of abutment was larger in assembly of Friadent system than in asembly of Astra system of Paragon system. Conclusion: Although a little variation in machining accuracy and consistency was noted in the samples, important features of all internal connection systems were the deep, internal implant-abutment connections which provides intimate contact with the implant walls to resist micro-movement, resulting in a strong stable interface. From the results of this study, further research of the stress distribution according to the design of internal connection system will be required.

3D histology is a imaging system for the 3D structural information of cells or tissues. The synchrotron radiation propagation phase contrast micro-CT has been used in 3D imaging methods. However, the simple phase contrast micro-CT did not give sufficient micro-structural information when the specimen contains soft elements, as is the case with many biomedical tissue samples. The purpose of this study is to develop a new technique to enhance the phase contrast effect for soft tissue imaging. Experiments were performed at the imaging beam lines of Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL). The biomedical tissue samples under frozen state was mounted on a computer-controlled precision stage and rotated in $0.18^{\circ}$ increments through $180^{\circ}$. An X-ray shadow of a specimen was converted into a visual image on the surface of a CdWO4 scintillator that was magnified using a microscopic objective lens(X5 or X20) before being captured with a digital CCD camera. 3-dimensional volume images of the specimen were obtained by applying a filtered back-projection algorithm to the projection images using a software package OCTOPUS. Surface reconstruction and volume segmentation and rendering were performed were performed using Amira software. In this study, We found that synchrotron phase contrast imaging of frozen tissue samples has higher contrast power for soft tissue than that of non-frozen samples. In conclusion, synchrotron radiation propagation phase contrast cryo-microCT imaging offers a promising tool for non-destructive high resolution 3D histology.
To observe and analyze the characteristics of cloud and precipitation properties, the Cloud physics Observation System (CPOS) has been operated from December 2003 at Daegwallyeong ($37.4^{\circ}N$, $128.4^{\circ}E$, 842 m) in the Taebaek Mountains. The major instruments of CPOS are follows: Forward Scattering Spectrometer Probe (FSSP), Optical Particle Counter (OPC), Visibility Sensor (VS), PARSIVEL disdrometer, Microwave Radiometer (MWR), and Micro Rain Radar (MRR). The former four instruments (FSSP, OPC, visibility sensor, and PARSIVEL) are for the observation and analysis of characteristics of the ground cloud (fog) and precipitation, and the others are for the vertical cloud characteristics (http://weamod.metri.re.kr) in real time. For verification of CPOS products, the comparison between the instrumental products has been conducted: the qualitative size distributions of FSSP and OPC during the hygroscopic seeding experiments, the precipitable water vapors of MWR and radiosonde, and the rainfall rates of the PARSIVEL(or MRR) and rain gauge. Most of comparisons show a good agreement with the correlation coefficient more than 0.7. These reliable CPOS products will be useful for the cloud-related studies such as the cloud-aerosol indirect effect or cloud seeding. The visibility value is derived from the droplet size distribution of FSSP. The derived FSSP visibility shows the constant overestimation by 1.7 to 1.9 times compared with the values of two visibility sensors (SVS (Sentry Visibility Sensor) and PWD22 (Present Weather Detect 22)). We believe this bias is come from the limitation of the droplet size range ($2{\sim}47\;{\mu}m$) measured by FSSP. Further studies are needed after introducing new instruments with other ranges.

The first part is about development of a liquid target for a neutron source, which is designed to overcome many of the limitations of traditional beam-target neutron generators by utilizing a liquid target neutron source. One of the most critical aspects of the beam-target neutron generator is the target integrity under the beam exposure. A liquid target can be a good solution to overcome damage to the target such as target erosion and depletion of hydrogen isotopes in the active layer, especially for the one operating at high neutron fluxes with no need for water cooling. There is no inherent target lifetime for the liquid target neutron generator when used with continuous refreshment of the target surface exposed to the energetic beam. In this work, liquid target containing hydrogen has been developed and tested in vacuum environment. Potentially, liquid targets could allow a point neutron source whose spatial extension is on the order of 1 to $10{\mu}m$. And the second is about the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectrometer which is designed as a five-channel spectral system for ITER main plasma measurement. To develop and verify the design, a two-channel prototype system was fabricated with No. 3 (14.4 nm~31.8 nm) and No. 4 (29.0 nm~60.0 nm) among the five channels. For test of the prototype system, a hollow cathode lamp is used as a light source. The system is composed of a collimating mirror to collect the light from source to slit, and two holographic diffraction gratings with toroidal geometry to diffract and also to collimate the light from the common slit to detectors. The two gratings are positioned at different optical distances and heights as designed. To study the appropriate detector for ITER VUV system, two different electronic detectors of the back-illuminated charge coupled device and the micro-channel plate electron multiplier were installed and the performance has been investigated and compared in the same experimental conditions. The overall system performance was verified by measuring the spectrums.
To reduce manufacturing costs of crystalline silicon solar cells, silicon wafers have become thinner. In relation to this, the properties of the aluminium-back surface field (Al-BSF) are considered an important factor in solar cell performance. Generally, screen-printing and a rapid thermal process (RTP) are utilized together to form the Al-BSF. This study evaluates Al-BSF formation on a (111) textured back surface compared with a (100) flat back surface with variation of ramp up rates from 18 to $89^{\circ}C$/s for the RTP annealing conditions. To make different back surface morphologies, one side texturing using a silicon nitride film and double side texturing were carried out. After aluminium screen-printing, Al-BSF formed according to the RTP annealing conditions. A metal etching process in hydrochloric acid solution was carried out to assess the quality of Al-BSF. Saturation currents were calculated by using quasi-steady-state photoconductance. The surface morphologies observed by scanning electron microscopy and a non-contacting optical profiler. Also, sheet resistances and bulk carrier concentration were measured by a 4-point probe and hall measurement system. From the results, a faster ramp up during Al-BSF formation yielded better quality than a slower ramp up process due to temperature uniformity of silicon and the aluminium surface. Also, in the Al-BSF formation process, the (111) textured back surface is significantly affected by the ramp up rates compared with the (100) flat back surface.
