  • There are many reports about correlations between meteorological elements and stroke. In Oriental medicine, it is recognized that the weather affects the human body and diseases, but there are few studies about the correlation between meteorological elements and pattern identification of stroke. 105 stroke patients classified into fire-heat pattern or dampress-phlegm pattern were registered during the study period. We took the measurement of each meteorological element (atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed) according to pattern identification and analyzed pattern identification into two groups according to mean of each meteorological element during the study period. Mean temperature was higher with the heat-fire pattern than with the dampness-phlegm pattern. Heat-fire pattern also had higher frequency when temperature was higher than mean temperature. There was no correlation between atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, or wind speed and pattern identification.

  • This study was carried out a trend analysis for analyzing change of meteorological elements in the main producing areas of Chinese cabbage, radish, pepper, garlic and onion. As meteorological elements, we selected air temperature (maximum, minimum), precipitation and duration of sunshine. We used monthly data of meteorological elements obtained from the main producing areas of vegetables for 30 years from 1981 to 2010. Mann-Kendall test used for significance test of trend and Sen's estimator of slope for computing the variance of meteorological elements. The study results showed that air temperature tended to increase, but duration of sunshine tended to decrease in most regions.

  • Climate change which occuring the recent abrupt fluctuations in meteorological and climatological elements is bound, brings about more significant impacts and changes in human life One of the most important problems due to the impacts of climate change tends to have been decreased the food production, which is expected to make crop resources more and more important. Accordingly, agricultural meteorology should also become more important. In this study, the correlation between meteorological elements and root and tuber crops (potatoes and sweet potatoes), which are emergency crops, and meteorological elements were analyzed, and the impacts of climate changes on the production of such crops were examined. This study concludes that agriculture and food resources are important, and suggests that we should prepare for changes in crops, the weaponization of food, and the lack of water resources in the future. The meteorological element and crops element correlation analysis results. Sweet potatoes, which are negatively influenced by climate change, need breeding improvement and cultivation method development, and potatoes, which are positively influenced by climate change, require preparations for climate changes that exceed the climatic limit. The variations of agricultural production contributed to changes in crop production. Therefore, the importance of agricultural meteorology and the food crop industry should be fully recognized to prepare for climate change.

  • Aircraft are affected by various weather elements and phenomena as they operate vertically from the ground up to the tropopause and horizontally across temperate, tropical, and cold regions within a few hours. Meteorological information, which involves observing and forecasting these weather elements and phenomena, is crucial because it influences not only the safety of the aircraft and occurrences of cancellations, diversions, or delays but also the changes in flight time and fuel consumption. Since the routes of national carriers in Korea mainly cover regions with severe weather and significant weather changes, the role of systems and organizations for the collection, analysis, and application of meteorological information is important. This study investigated the operational case and effects of a meteorological organization at airline 'A'. It was confirmed that, following the establishment of this dedicated organization, more systematic application of meteorological information has shown operational effects such as enhancing flight safety, minimizing passenger inconvenience, and contributing to corporate management.

  • In order to analyze the effect of meteorological elements on ozone concentration, we carried out cross-correlation of the elements with ozone concentraton, and time series analysis on them. As a result, it revealed that temperature, wind speed and humidity are not independent variables with ozone concentrations, and also, solar radiation and mixing height are the major elements that affect them. We developed models for ozone with solar radiation and mixing height as dependent variables to verify the effect of major meteorological elements. The predicted ozone concentration has strong correlation coefficients, So, We could conclude that we can predict ozone concentreation only with solar raidation and mixing height as dependents.

  • Recent climate change has led to fluctuations in agricultural production, and as a result national food supply has become an important strategic factor in economic policy. As such, in this study, panel data was collected to analyze the effects of seven meteorological elements and using the Lagrange multipliers method, the fixed-effects model for the production of five types of food crop and the seven meteorological elements were analyzed. Results showed that the key factors effecting increases in production of rice grains were average temperature, average relative humidity and average ground surface temperature, while wheat and barley were found to have positive correlations with average temperature and average humidity. The implications of this study are as follow. First, it was confirmed that the meteorological elements have profound effects on the production of food crops. Second, when compared to existing studies, the study was not limited to one food crop but encompassed all five types, and went beyond other studies that were limited to temperature and rainfall to include various meterological elements.

  • Garlic and onion are grown in major cultivation regions that depend on the crop condition and the meteorology of the production area. Therefore, when yields are to be predicted, it is reasonable to use a statistical model in which both the crop and the meteorological elements are considered. In this paper, using a multiple linear regression model, we predicted garlic and onion yields in major cultivation regions. We used the MODIS NDVI that reflects the crop conditions, and six meteorological elements for 7 major cultivation regions from 2006 to 2015. The multiple linear regression models were suggested by using stepwise regression in the extraction of independent variables. As a result, the MODIS NDVI in February was chosen the significant independent variable of the garlic and onion yield prediction model. In the case of meteorological elements, the garlic yield prediction model were the mean temperature (March), the rainfall (November, March), the relative humidity (April), and the duration time of sunshine (April, May). Also, the rainfall (November), the duration time of sunshine (January), the relative humidity (April), and the minimum temperature (June) were chosen among the variables as the significant meteorological elements of the onion yield prediction model. MODIS NDVI and meteorological elements in the model explain 84.4%, 75.9% of the garlic and onion with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 42.57 kg/10a, 340.29 kg/10a. These lead to the result that the characteristics of variations in garlic and onion growth according to MODIS NDVI and other meteorological elements were well reflected in the model.

  • We studied the warming effect induced by Photovoltaic(PV) power plants in rural areas during summer daytime using a simple analytical urban meteorological model. This analysis was based on observed meteorological elements and the capacity of the PV power plant was 10 MWp. The major axis length of the PV power plant was assumed to be 1km. Data of the necessary meteorological elements were obtained from a special meteorological observation campaign established for a over a PV power plant. We assumed that the wind flowed along the major axis of the PV power plant(1 km). As a result, the air temperature on the downwind side of the PV power plant was estimated to invrease by about $0.47^{\circ}C$.
