  • The syntheses of LaNiO$_3$Perovskite crystalline phase from mixtures of La$_2$O$_3$and NiO via it mechanochemical(used planetary mill) and a wet ball mill process were investigated. A single and stable LaNiO$_3$perovskite crystalline phase was successfully prepared by using a heat free mechanochemical process which produced a fine amorphous powder, while that phase was not formed in a wet ball mill process which needed heat treatment ranging from 500 to 150$0^{\circ}C$ and produced a coarse powder. It was shown that the LaNiO$_3$ceramics made of the mechanochemically synthesized powder possesed a good metallic characteristic.

  • Effect of isothermal aging on the crystallization of $Fe_{78}B_{13}Si_{9}$ metallic glass has been investigated by electrical resistivity, X-ray measurements, bending test, thermal analysis and transmission electron microscopy. Amorphous $Fe_{78}B_{13}Si_{9}$ alloy was annealed isothermally for 5 to 1200 mon. between 300 C and 540 C. It has been found that close relation between relative resistivity and X-ray diffraction pattern showed. The crystalline peak of $\alpha$-(Fe, Si) and Fe$_2$B are detected by X-ray experiment. The crystalline phases observed by TEM show $\alpha$-(Fe, Si) and Fe$_3$B with dendritic and cylindrical morphology, respectively. It has been also found that the embrittleness of aged samples rapidly increased with the crystallization and was shown before the crystallization.th the crystallization and was shown before the crystallization.

  • Metallic foams have a combination of attractive properties such as high specific mechanical properties and good energy absorption characteristics. This paper presents the properties of steel foam sandwiches produced using powder metallurgy approach. Metallic powder, solid polymeric binder and a foaming agent are dry-mixed and molded into the desired shape. The molded powder mix is then heat-treated to foam, debind and sinter the material. The resulting material has an open cell structure with high porosity. The structure and properties of sandwiches specimens produced with the process are presented and discussed.

  • Indium tin oxide films were deposited on unheated PET substrates by DC reactive magnetron sputtering of In-Sn (90-10 wt%) metallic alloy target. Electrical and optical properties of as-deposited films were systematically studied by control of the deposition parameters such as working pressure, DC power, and oxygen partial pressure. The figures of merit are important factors that summarize briefly the relationship between electrical and optical properties of transparent conducting films. The formulae of T/R$\sub$sh/ and T$\^$10//R$\sub$sh/ are expressed as a function of transmittance and sheet resistance. The best values of those figures of merit were approximately 38.6 and 8.95 (x10$\^$-3/Ω$\^$-1/), respectively.

  • The aluminum composite with dispersed high entropy alloy were developed by stir casting involving the powder-in-tube method. First, Al0.5CoCrCuFeNi high entropy alloy (HEA) powder was made by mechanical alloying, and the powder was extruded in a tube-type aluminum container to form HEA precursor. The extruded HEA precursor was then dispersed in the aluminum matrix via stir casting. As a result, Fe-Cr-Ni based high-entropy phases was uniformly formed in the aluminum matrix, revealing ~158, 166, 235% enhancement of tensile strength by incorporating 1, 3, and 5 wt% HEA particles, respectively.

  • The onset characteristics of friction-induced noise for a steel plate and 4 metallic pins (Cu, Ni, Al, Mg) were studied through the pin-on-disk machine and the reciprocating testing machine. The results showed that the negative slope of the friction curve was related to the onset time of friction noise. Particularly, Cu was found to be the best metallic material for preventing squeak noise in terms of the onset time and the negative friction slope.

  • A slicing method by thin diamond blade is widely usd slicing of hard and brittle materials such as ceramics, glass and ferrite etc.. In this study, a new slicing system which realizes highly efficient and mirror surface slicing was developed by applying ELID-grinding with metallic bond diamond blades and its performance was evaluated. Hard and brittle materials such as ceramics, glass and ferrite were used as workpiece. Metallic bond diamond blades with grit sizes #325 and #2000 were used. Experimental results show that highly efficient slicing and good mirror surface can be successfully obtained using the developed slicing system with ELID features.

  • This study has been performed to investigate MRR(metal removal rate) surface roughness with various pulse-on duration using the copper and graphite electrode according to the electrode size on the heat treated STD 11 which is extensively used for metallic molding steel in the EDM. The results obtained are as follow ;a)MRR increases a lot when pulse-on duration is 100 $\mu{s}$ or less but MRR has little difference with pulse-on duration of 100 $\mu{s}$ or more b) According to the increase of Pulse-on duration the large the electrode size the more MRR c) Safe discharge is needed to make maximum of MRR and the metallic organization must be complicated for discharge induction. d) Actual machining time is longer than theoretical machining time at the short pulse-on duration because of skin effect of current. e) Graphite electrode needs the larger electric discharge energy than copper electrode to remove remained chips completely.

  • Calcium phosphate ceramics have been applied intensively to orthopaedic and dental implants by virtue of their osteoconductive nature. In an attempt to enhance the bone implant intergrity and Eta utility, these ceramics are deposited onto the porous surface of metallic implants. The coating procedure and the ensuing phase transformations of the ceramic alter the mechanical properties and surface chemistry of the ceramic layers as well as those of the substrate. These structural and compositional differences are directly related to the interaction mechanisms at the surface-active ceramicbone interface. Material and processing induced influences on dissolution, electrokinetic behavior, ceramic-metallic substrate interface and boRe growth enhancement are presented.

  • Metallic sandwich plates are ultra-light materials not only with high strength and stiffness but also with other multifunctional physical properties. Inner dimpled shell structure can be fabricated by a piecewise sectional forming process, and then bonded with face sheets of the same material by resistance welding. Possible region for bending and limit radius of curvature are defined to compare the formability of sandwich plates. Tests have shown that sandwich plates with inner dimpled shell structure subject to bending have longer possible region for bending and smaller limit radius of curvature than other types of sandwich plates. The proposed inner dimpled shell structure is shown to have better formability of sandwich plates for bending than other types inner structures.
