금속파티클-AI2O3Barrier 반응기의 NOx 제거에 미치는 유전체 영향 (Effect of Dielectrics on NOx Removal of Metal Particle-AI2O3 Barrier Reactor)

  • In this paper, we made four types of metal particle $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier reactors with and without dielectric of BaTiO$_3$ between metal particle and $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier to investigate NOx removal characteristic and the effect of dielectric on Nox removal. And Nox removal rate is measured when sludge pellets are put at down stream of plasma reactor. Nox removal rate in the reactor with $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier is much better than that in the reactor without $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier, Nox removal rate is not so good in metal particle-Al$_2$O$_3$ barrier reactor with BaTiO$_3$ between metal particle and $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier, however, Nox removal rate is about 40% in metal particle-Al$_2$O$_3$ barrier reactor with TiO$_2$. The most of NO is conversed to NO$_2$ in these kind of reactor. When sludge pellets are put at down stream of plasma reactor, Nox removal rate is greatly improved up to 90%. It indicates that sludge pellets have great effect on the NO$_2$ removal and the improvement of Nox removal rate, however, dielectric materials between metal particle and $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier have not effect. Organic materials included in sludge may react with NO$_2$ and ozone so that Nox removal rate is greatly improved.

게 껍질을 이용한 수중의 중금속 제거 (The removal of heavy metals by crab shell in aqueous solution)

  • In order to examine the availability and effectiveness of crab shell for the removal of heavy metals in aqueous solution the crab shell was compared with cation exchange resin(CER), zeolite granular activated carbon (GAC) and powdered activated carbon(PAC) on aspects of heavy metal removal capacity rate and efficiency. In the removal of Pb, Cd and Cr, the heavy metal removal capacity of crab shell was higher than those of any other sorbents (CER, zeolite, GAC, PAC) and the order of heavy metal removal capacity was crab shell>CER>zeolite>PAC GAC. However in the removal of Cu, the result of crab shell was slightly lower than that of CER. The initial heavy metal removal rate was affected by the sorts of sorbents and metals. In all heavy metals the heavy metal removal rate of crab shell was higher than those of any other sorbents. Under the heavy metal concentration of 1.0 mmole/$\ell$ the heavy metal removal efficiency of crab shell was maintained as 93~100% which was much higher than those of any other sorbents.

  • This work deals with the electrical conductivity of dielectric and cobalt percentage on output parameters such as metal removal rate and surface roughness value of sintered carbides cut by wire-electrical discharge machining (W-EDM). To obtain a precise workpiece with good quality, some extra repetitive finish cuts along the rough cutting contour are necessary. Experimental results show that increases of cobalt amount in carbides affects the metal removal rate and worsens the surface quality as a greater quantity of solidified metal deposits on the eroded surface. Lower electrical conductivity of the dielectric results in a higher metal removal rate as the gap between wire electrode and workpiece reduced. Especially, the surface characteristics of rough-cut workpiece and wire electrode were analyzed too. To obtain a good surface equality without cracks, 4 finish-cuts were necessary by reducing the electrical energy and the offset value.

  • This work deals with the electrical conductivity of dielectric on output parameters such as metal removal rate and surface roughness value of a carbon steel(SM25C) and sintered carbides cut by wire-electrical discharge machining(W-EDM). Dielectric has several functions like insulation, ionization, cooling, the removal of waste metal particles. The presence of minute particles(gap debris) in spark gap contaminates and lowers the breakdown strength of dielectric. And it is considered that too much debris in spark gap is generally believed to be the cause of arcing. Experimental results show that increases of cobalt amount in carbides affects the metal removal rate and worsens the surface quality as a greater quantity of solidified metal deposits on the eroded surface. Lower electrical conductivity of the dielectric results in a lower metal removal rate because the gap between wire electrode and workpiece reduced. Micro cracks and some of electrode material are found on the workpiece surface by energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).

절삭부하 예측을 통한 NC코드 후처리시스템 (NC Code Post-Processor Considering Metal Removal Rate)

  • This paper presents an NC code post-processor that adjusts feedrates to keep the variation of metal removal rate along the tool paths minimum. Metal removal rate is estimated by virtually machining the part, whose surface model is built from a series of NC codes defined in operation plan, with cutting-tool-assembly models, whose geometry are defined in a machining database. The NC code post-processor modifies the feedrates by the adjustment rules, which are based on the machining knowledge for effective machining. This paper illustrates a procedure fur grouping machining conditions and we also show how to determine an adjustment rule for a machining-condition group. An example part was machined and it shows that the variation of cutting force was dramatically reduced after applying the NC code post-processor. The NC code post-processor is expected to increase productivity while maintaining the quality of the machined part.

  • In this paper, we made different types of non-thermal plasma reactors such as Metal-particle reactor with $Al_2O_3$ to measure NOx removal characteristic and the dielectric effect for NOx removal. NOx removal rate is not so good when we use just dielectric of $Al_2O_3$ at the Metal-particle reactor, also we just put sludge pellets(100%) without Metal-particle reactor with $Al_2O_3$ and dielectric such as $TiO_2$, $BaTiO_3$ to measure the effect of sludge for NOx removal so that NOx removal rate is almost the same. However NOx removal rate is more than 90% in case of the reactor of composition shape used both dielectric of $Al_2O_3$ and sludge pellets at the same time. In case of the shape of plasma reactor with dielectric, the Metal-particle reactor with $Al_2O_3$, and the metal-particle reactor with both $Al_2O_3$ and dielectric such as $TiO_2$, $BaTiO_3$ at the same time, they are almost the same effect for NOx removal, so we made MNPR(Metal-particle Non-thermal Plasma Reactor with $Al_2O_3$) to reduce these kinds of demerits. Finally, we think MNPR should be much better than other reactors for NOx removal.

다결정 다이아몬드의 와이어방전가공에 관한 연구 (The Study on the WEDM of Polycrystalline Diamond)

  • Polycrystalline diamonds(PCD) tools are widely used in machining a large variety of advanced materials. However, the manufacture of PCD tool blanks is not an economical process. The shaping of PCD blanks with conventional machining methods(such a grinding) is long, labor-intensive process. This paper reports experimental investigation of the influence of electrical machining conditions on the metal removal rate of WEDM of PCD. Experimental results show that the longer pulse-on time and the shorter pulse-off time increase the metal removal rate and worsen the surface quality. The smaller grain size of diamond yields the metal removal rate and shows the better surface quality. Higher electrical conductivity of water yields worse surface roughness.

  • To examine the possibility of biomonitoring of heavy metal removal ability and soil, a study was performed to investigate the heavy metal removal ability and metal-binding protein (MBP) as detoxification process using Oenanthe stolonifera. After O. stolonifera was exposed to individuals (cadmium, zinc) and mixture (cadmium+zinc)for 4 days, removal rate of heavy metal and pH in the treatment medium was measured. MBP was assayed by means of ion exchange column chromatography. The exposure to mixture (Cd:76.8%, Zn:75%) rather than individuals (Cd:82.9%, Zn:90.4%) showed a synergism raising the toxic effect. Initial removal rate was different for each heavy metal : in case of exposure to cadmium it was over 60% on day 1, while for zinc it was 75~90% on day 4. Throughout the experimental period, pH value of treatment medium continuously decreased, since cortex in the roots may secret organic acid to adjust and prevent toxicity of metals. The existence or MBP in the 70~80 fraction and the presence of Zn-enzyme pool was ascertained with the column chromatography. This study demonstrated a possibility that heavy utilized as a biomarker of heavy metal pollution.

팔당호 연안대 초지생태계에서 낙엽 구성성분의 유실률 VI. Cu, Fe 및 Zn (The Removal Rates of the Constituents of Litters in the Littoral Grassland Ecosystems in the Lake Paldangho VI. Cu, Fe and Zn)

  • The investigation was performed to reveal the removal rate of metal constituents of litters in a Phragmites communis Miseanthus sacchariflorus, Typha angastata and Seirpas tabernaemontani grasslands in the lake Paldangho. The removal rates of metal constituents are determined by the mathematical models. The removal rates and time required to decay up to a percentage of each metal constituent were calculated using these model. The removal rates of Cu, Fe and Zn were 0.61, 0.58 and 0.79 in Phragmites communis 0.39, 0.47 and 0.68 in Miseanthus saccharflorus; 0.26, 0.09 and 0.23 in Typha angustata: 0.56, 0.27 and 0.67 in Seirpus tabernaemontani respectively. The periods required to reach half time to the stedy state of the removal and accumulation for Cu, Fe and Zn were 1,13,1.19 and 0.79 years in Phragmites communis; 1.79, 1.49 and 1.02 years in Miscanthus sacchariflorus; 2.70, 7.43 and 2.96 years in Typha angustata ; 1.23, 2.58 and 1.04 years in Scirqus tabernaemontani, re-spectively.
