The composites were fabricated, respectively, using 61vol.% SiC - 39vol.% TiB$_2$ and using 61vo1.% SiC - 39vo1.% WC powders with the liquid forming additives of 12wt% $Al_2$O$_3$+Y$_2$O$_3$ by pressureless annealing at 180$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. Reactions between SiC and transition metal TiB$_2$, WC were not observed in this microstructure. The result of phase analysis of composites by XRD revealed SiC(6H), TiB$_2$ and YAG(Al$_{5}$Y$_3$O$_{12}$) crystal phase on the SiC-TiB$_2$, and SiC(2H), WC and YAG(Al$_{5}$Y$_3$O$_{12}$) crystal phase on the SiC-WC composites. $\beta$\$\longrightarrow$$\alpha$-SiC phase transformation was ocurred on the SiC-TiB$_2$, but $\alpha$\$\longrightarrow$$\beta$-SiC reverse transformation was not occurred on the SiC-WC composites. The relative density, the vicker's hardness, the flexural strength and the fracture toughness showed respectively value of 96.2%, 13.34GPa, 310.19Mpa and 5.53Mpaㆍml/2 in SiC-WC composites. The electrical resistivity of the SiC-TiB$_2$ and the SiC-WC composites is all positive temperature coefficient resistance(PTCR) in the temperature ranges from $25^{\circ}C$ to 50$0^{\circ}C$. 2.64${\times}$10-2/$^{\circ}C$ of PTCR of SiC-WC was higher than 1.645${\times}$10-3/$^{\circ}C$ of SiC-TiB$_2$ composites.posites.

Nanocrystalline spinel lithium manganese oxide ($LiMn_2O_4$) powders with narrow-size-distribution, pure-phase particles, and high crystallinity with an average crystallite size of about 70 nm were synthesized at $600^{\circ}C$ for 6 h in air by freeze drying method. Spinel $LiMn_2O_4$ is also prepared by sol-gel using citric acid as a chelating agent. The influence of different parameters such as pH conditions, solvent, molar ratio of citric acid to total metal ions, calcination temperature, starting material on the structure, morphology and purity of this oxide was investigated. The results of sol-gel method show that pure $LiMn_2O_4$ with average crystallite size of about 130 nm can be produced from nitrate salts as starting materials at $800^{\circ}C$ for 6 h in air. The optimum pH and molar ratio of chelating agent to total metal ions are $4{\leq}pH{\leq}6$ and 1.0, respectively. A possible mechanism on the formation of the nanocrystallines synthesized by sol-gel was also discussed. At the end a comparison of the differences between two methods was made on the basis of x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) tests.
In the present study effects of SnO$_2$-impregnation on the cell performance of Mesocarbon Microbeads (MCMB) electrode in the Li-ion battery have been investigated. Sn element was impreganted into MCMB powders by the chemical titration, and then post annealed at 250$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in ambient atmosphere to be transformed as tin-oxide. From the measurement for the cell performance with the half cell in which the SnO$_2$-impregnated MCMB was used as an anode, the SnO$_2$-impregnated MCMB showed higher charge/discharge capacities, higher reversible specific charge capacity and better cycleability than a raw MCMB. As the amount of impregnated SnO$_2$ increased, both reversible and irreversible capacities increased.
The composites were fabricated, respectively, using 61[vol.%]SiC-39[vol.%]$TiB_2$ and using 61[vol.%]SiC-39[vol.%]$ZrB_2$ powders with the liquid forming additives of 12[wt%] $Al_{2}O_{3}+Y_{2}O_{3}$ by hot pressing annealing at $1650[^{\circ}C]$ for 4 hours. Reactions between SiC and transition metal $TiB_2$, $ZrB_2$ were not observed in this microstructure. ${\beta}{\rightarrow}{\alpha}$-SiC phase transformation was occurred on the SiC-$TiB_2$ and SiC-$ZrB_2$ composite. The relative density, the flexural strength and Young's modulus showed the highest value of 98.57[%], 226.06[Mpa] and 86.38[Gpa] in SiC-$ZrB_2$ composite at room temperature respectively. The electrical resistivity showed the lowest value of $7.96{\times}10^{-4}[{\Omega}{\cdot}cm]$ for SiC-$ZrB_2$ composite at $25[^{\circ}C]$. The electrical resistivity of the SiC-$TiB_2$ and SiC-$ZrB_2$ composite was all positive temperature coefficient resistance (PTCR) in the temperature ranges from $25[^{\circ}C]$ to $700[^{\circ}C]$. The resistance temperature coefficient of composite showed the value of $6.88{\times}10^{-3}/[^{\circ}C]$ and $3.57{\times}10^{-3}/[^{\circ}C]$ for SiC-$ZrB_2$ and SiC-$TiB_2$ composite in the temperature ranges from $25[^{\circ}C]$ to $700[^{\circ}C]$.
Ilmenite is one of the principal ores for the production of titanium dioxide. To produce titanium dioxide with purity higher than 99.9% from ilmenite, Ti(IV) should be separated from the dissolved impurities such as Fe(III), Si(IV), and Mn(II) present in ilmenite. In this work, a hydrometallurgical process was investigated to recover pure titanium dioxide from ilmenite by HCl leaching followed by separation and hydrolysis of Ti(IV). An optimum leaching condition was obtained by investigating the effect of HCl concentration, pulp density, and leaching time on the leaching percentage of Ti(IV), Fe(III), Si(IV), and Mn(II). Ammonium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide solutions were employed as neutralizing agents to hydrolyze Ti(IV) from the stripping solution of Ti(IV). Titanium dioxide of the anatase phase was obtained by calcination of the hydrolyzed precipitates with $NH_4OH$ solution. A hydrometallurgical process can be developed to produce pure $TiO_2$ powders from ilmenite.

Cementation is one of economical and efficient recycling method precipitating the metal ion in solution by adding another active metal. In this study for optimizing cadmium recovery efficiency, it was performed as a function of the effect of pH, temperature, particle size, and input amount of zinc in 0.1 M $CdSO_4$ solution and Ni-Cd battery leaching solutions, respectively. The particle size of zinc and temperature were key factors for Cd cementation and it was confirmed that the input amount of 2.6 of Zn/Cd ratio using granular-type zinc was optimal condition for selective Cd recovery efficiency at $25^{\circ}C$.
The surface-to-volume ratio of one-dimensional (1D) semiconductor metal-oxide sensors is an important factor for achieving good gas sensing properties because it offers a wide response area. To exploit this effect, in this study, we determined the optimal calcination temperature to maximize the specific surface area and thereby the sensitivity of the sensor. The $In_2O_3$ nanorods were synthesized by using vapor-liquid-solid growth of $In_2O_3$ powders and were decorated with the Pt nanoparticles by using a sol-gel method. Subsequently, the Pt nanoparticle-decorated $In_2O_3$ nanorods were calcined at different temperatures to determine the optimal calcination temperature. The $NO_2$ gas sensing properties of five different samples (pristine uncalcined $In_2O_3$ nanorods, Pt-decorated uncalcined $In_2O_3$ nanorods, and Pt-decorated $In_2O_3$ nanorods calcined at 400, 600, and $800^{\circ}C$) were determined and compared. The Pt-decorated $In_2O_3$ nanorods calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ showed the highest surface-to-volume ratio and the strongest response to $NO_2$ gas. Moreover, these nanorods showed the shortest response/recovery times toward $NO_2$. These enhanced sensing properties are attributed to a combination of increased surface-to-volume ratio (achieved through the optimal calcination) and increased electrical/chemical sensitization (provided by the noble-metal decoration).

InP, III-V binary compound semiconductor, single crystal was grown by VGF (vertical gradient freeze) method using quartz ampoule and its electrical optical properties were investigated. Phosphorous powders were put in the bottom of quartz ampoule and Indium metal changed in conical quartz crucible hat was attached at the upper side position inside the quartz ampoule. It was vacuous under the pressure of 10-5 Torr and sealed up. In metal in the quartz crucible was melted at 1070$^{\circ}C$ and phophorous sublimated at 450$^{\circ}C$, there after it was diffused in In melt and so InP composition was formed. By cooling the InP composition melt (2$^{\circ}C$∼5$^{\circ}C$/hr of cooling rate) in range of 1070$^{\circ}C$∼900$^{\circ}C$, InP crystal was grown. the grown InP single crystals were investigated by X-ray analysis and polarized optical microscopy. Electrical properties of them were measured by Van der Pauw method. At the cooling rate of 2$^{\circ}C$/hr, its direction was (111), quality of the ingot ws better upper side of the ingot than lower. It was found that the InP crystals were n-type semiconductor and the carrier concentration, electron mobility and relative resistivity were 1015∼1016/㎤, 2x103∼3x104$\textrm{cm}^2$/Vsec and 2x10-1∼2x10-3Ωcm in the range of 150K∼300K, respectively.

Metal three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies are mainly classified as powder bed fusion (PBF) and direct energy deposition (DED) methods according to the method of application of a laser beam to metallic powder. The DED method can be used to fabricate fine and hard 3D metallic structures by applying a strong laser beam to a thin layer of metallic powder. The PBF method involves slicing 3D graphics to be a certain height, laminating metal powders, and making a 3D structure using a laser. While the DED method has advantages such as laser cladding and metallic welding, it causes problems with low density when 3D shapes are created. The PBF method was introduced to address the structural density issues in the DED method and makes it easier to produce relatively dense 3D structures. In this paper, thin lines were produced by using PBF 3D printers with stainless-steel powder of roughly $30{\mu}m$ in diameter with a galvano scanner and fiber-transferred Nd:YAG laser beam. Experiments were carried out to find the optimal conditions for the width of a line depending on the processing times, laser power, spot size, and scan speed. The optimal conditions were two scanning processes in one line structure with a laser power of 30 W, spot size of $28.7{\mu}m$, and scan speed of 200 mm/s. With these conditions, a minimum width of about $85.3{\mu}m$ was obtained.
The polymerization of 1,6-heptadiyne was carried out by molybdenum and tungsten-based transition metal catalysts. This polymerization by MoCl$\_$5/ alone proceeded well to give a quantitative yield of polymer. The effect of monomer to catalyst mole ratio (M/C), initial monomer concentration ([M]$\_$0/), and the polymerization temperature for the cyclopolymerization of 1,6-heptadiyne was studied and discussed. The polymerization solution exhibited red color even after 30 min of polymerization time. The resulting polymers were mostly brown powders and mostly insoluble in any organic solvents although the polymerization proceeded in homogeneous manner in some cases. The polymer structure was characterized by various instrumental methods to have the conjugated polymer backbone structure carrying cyclic recurring unit. The thermal and morphological properties of the resulting poly(1,6-heptadiyne) were also discussed.
