초경날식 절삭형 완패스정미기의 개발 (Development of One-Pass Rice Whitener with Cutting Blades of Hard Metal)

  • A one-pass rice whitener with hard metal blades was developed to solve the problems of the existing one-pass rice whitener. The developed one-pass rice whitener was tested and improved through various milling experiments. It showed high performance such as the capacity of 3.5 t/h, the energy consumption of $1.0 kWh/100kg$, milled rice recovery of 91.6%, broken rice rate of 2.2%, the crack rate of 1.9% at the 750 rpm of the roller shaft, compared with those other domestic and foreign one-pass rice whiteners. Especially, it could whiten broun rice of high moisture (16~l7%) with water sprayed at low internal pressure of less than $0.2 kg/cm^2$ and low temperature due to the characteristics of the cutting part composed of 24 hard metal blades. The developed one-pass rice whitener was industrilized and distributed to some rice processing complexs in one fourth price compared with that of imported one-pass rice whiteners.

  • Semiconducting nanomaterials have attracted considerable interest in recent years due to their high sensitivity, selectivity, and fast response time. In addition, for portable applications, they have low power consumption, lightweight, simple in operation, a low maintenance cost. Furthermore, it is easy to manufacture microelectronic sensor structures with metallic oxide sensitive thin layers. The use of semiconducting metal oxides to develop highly sensitive chemiresistive sensing systems remains an important scientific challenge in the field of gas sensing. According to the sensing mechanisms of gas sensors, the overall sensor conductance is determined by surface reactions and the charge transfer processes between the adsorbed species and the sensing material. The primary goal of the present study is to explore the possibility of using semiconducting mixed metal oxide nanostructure as a potential sensor material for selective gases.

폐금속광산 지역 주민의 비소 대사에 영향을 미치는 MTHFR, As3MT, GSTO1 유전자 다형성 (MTHFR, As3MT and GSTO1 Polymorphisms Influencing Arsenic Metabolism in Residents Near Abandoned Metal Mines in South Korea)

  • Background: In South Korea, areas around abandoned metal mines are designated as regions with high arsenic (As) contamination. However, studies assessing urinary As exposure, As metabolism, and relevant genetic polymorphisms in residents of these metal mine areas are lacking. Objectives: To identify factors associated with As exposure and evaluate the effects of MTHFR, As3MT, and GSTO1 genetic polymorphisms on As metabolism in residents of abandoned metal mine areas by measuring urinary As species. Methods: Urinary As species (arsenite [As3+], arsenate [As5+], monomethyl arsonic acid, and dimethylarsinic acid) were isolated using high-performance liquid chromatography in combination with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS). Four genetic polymorphisms (MTHFR A222V, MTHFR E429A, GSTO1 A140D, As3MT M287T) were analyzed in 144 residents of four areas around abandoned metal mines. Results: The study sample was comprised of 34.7% men and 65.3% women, with a mean age of 70.7±10.9 years. The urinary inorganic As concentration was higher among those consuming more than half locally produced rice (0.31 ㎍/L) than those consuming less than half such rice (0.18 ㎍/L). The urinary dimethylarsinic acid concentration was higher in the group that had consumed seafood in the past day (31.68 ㎍/L) than in those who had not (22.37 ㎍/L). Furthermore, individuals heterozygous in the MTHFR A222V and GSTO1 A140D polymorphism had higher urinary arsenic species concentrations than did individuals with a wild type or homozygous for the variant allele. Conclusions: Consumption of locally produced rice was associated with inorganic As exposure, whereas seafood consumption was associated with organic As exposure among residents of abandoned metal mine areas. There was no clear association between MTHFR A222V and GSTO1 A140D polymorphisms and As metabolism.

  • To determine blood heavy metal concentrations by seafood consumption in Korean adults, blood cadmium, mercury, and lead concentrations in a representative sample of 1,709 Koreans participated in the Fourth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KHANES IV-2) in 2008 were analyzed by age and seafood consumption frequency. The mean blood cadmium, mercury, and lead concentrations were $1.14{\pm}0.73{\mu}g/L$, $5.50{\pm}3.83{\mu}g/L$, and $2.56{\pm}1.22{\mu}g/dL$, respectively. The subjects aged ${\geq}$ 50 years had significantly higher blood cadmium concentrations than the subjects aged 20~39 years. Blood mercury concentrations of the 50's were significantly higher than those of the 20's and 30's (p < 0.05). Approximately, 43% of males and 22% of females had blood mercury concentrations > $5.8{\mu}g/L$ which is a blood mercury level equivalent to the current Reference Dose. Only 2 subjects had lead concentrations > $10{\mu}g/dL$, the standard lead level by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, USA. The subjects consuming pollack, mackerel, anchovy, corvina, shellfish, and salted seafood at least once a week had significantly higher mercury concentrations than the subjects consuming those seafoods less than once a month. However, there were no clear relationships between blood cadmium and lead concentrations and seafood consumption frequencies.

고속 저전력 동작을 위한 개방형 파이프라인 ADC 설계 기법 (Open-Loop Pipeline ADC Design Techniques for High Speed & Low Power Consumption)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속, 저전력 8-비트 ADC를 설계하는 기법들을 제안하였다. 비교적 적은 전력 소모를 가지면서 고속으로 동작 시키기 위해 기존의 파이프라인 구조인 MDAC를 이용한 폐쇄형 구조 대신에 개방형 구조를 채택하였다. 또한 Distributed THA와 캐스캐이드 형태의 구조를 이용하여 높은 샘플링 속도에 최적화 하였다. 제안한 각 단의 크로싱 지점을 판별하는 기법은 증폭기의 개수를 줄일 수 있도록 함으로서 저전력과 좁은 면적의 ADC 구현을 가능하게 하였다. 모의 실험 결과 500-MHz의 샘플링 속도와 1.8V 전원 전압에서 테스트에 필요한 디지털 회로까지 포함, 210mW의 전력을 소비함을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 1.2Vpp(Differential) 입력 범위와 200-MHz까지의 입력 주파수에서 8-비트에 가까운 ENOB를 가짐을 볼 수 있었다. 설계된 ADC는 $0.18{\mu}m$ 6-Metal 1-Poly CMOS 공정을 이용, $900{\mu}m{\times}500{\mu}m$의 면적을 차지한다.

  • The development of manganese nodule mining technology is very important in order to secure a long-term and stable supply of rare strategic metals. In the twenty years following the R&D activities with the international consortia in the 1970s, studies on mining technologies have been carried out by several national projects in Korea. The current metal prices such as copper, nickel, cobalt, and manganese have been drastically changed since 2002. Rapid economic growth of Asian countries, especially China, have induced the situation. And the possibility of copper shortage is looming just around the comer. Because of the imbalance between production and consumption, copper is fundamentally the most threatened metal in the future in terms of potential metal shortage. Manganese nodules contain a considerable percentage of copper as the future metal resource. Therefore, it is necessary to concentrate our effects on developing these resources. This paper introduces our evaluation of R&D progress for the development of manganese nodules. The issue and role of manganese nodules during the difficult period of a potential future metal shortage period is discussed and its prospect outlined. Also, this paper tried to emphasize the necessity of continuous R&D efforts for the commercial development of such mineral resources.

  • This paper demonstrated a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) using cost-effective (1-poly 6-metal) mixed signal standard CMOS process. To have the high-quality factor inductor in LC resonator with thin metal thickness, patterned-ground shields (PGS) was adopted under the spiral to effectively reduce the ac current of low resistive Si substrate. And, because of thin top-metal compared with that of RF option (2 ㎛), we make electrically connect between the top metal (M6) and the next metal (M5) by great number of via array along the metal traces. The circuit operated from 2.48 GHz to 2.62 GHz tuned by accumulation-mode varactor device. And the measured phase noise of LC VCO has -123.7 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset at 2.62 GHz and the dc-power consumption shows 2.07 mW with 1.8V supply voltage, respectively.

  • Direct use of sunlight through the glass windows is an efficient way to reduce the energy consumption related to the heating, cooling, and lighting. Introduction of near-infrared modulating properties through colloidal doped metal oxide nanocrystals into the classical electrochromic materials accelerates the development of next-generation electrochromic devices. There has been a steady enhancement in the performance of electrochromic devices, necessitating a review of the recent progress in next-generation electrochromic devices employing doped metal oxide nanocrystals. This review provides an overview of the current developments in next-generation electrochromic smart windows utilizing colloidal doped metal oxide nanocrystals, with a focus on the key factors for achieving these advanced windows. Colloidal doped metal oxide nanocrystals are a crucial component in realizing and bringing to market the next generation of electrochromic windows, though further research and development are still required in this regard.

고속 전류 구동 Analog-to-digital 변환기의 설계 (Design of A High-Speed Current-Mode Analog-to-Digital Converter)

  • In this paper, a low power and high speed flash Analog-to-Digital Converter using current-mode concept is proposed. Current-mode approach offers a number of advantages over conventional voltage-mode approach, such as lower power consumption small chip area improved accuracy etc. Rescently this concept was applied to algorithmic A/D Converter. But, its conversion speed is limited to medium speed. Consequently this converter is not applicable to the high speed signal processing system. This ADC is fabricated in 1.2um double metal CMOS standard process. This ADC's conversion time is measured to be 7MHz, and power consumption is 2.0mW, and differential nonlinearity is less than 1.14LSB and total harmonic distortion is -50dB. The active area of analog chip is about 350 x 550u$m^2$. The proposed ADC seems suitable for a single chip design of digital signal processing system required high conversion speed, high resolution small chip area and low power consumption.

  • Register Controlled DLL with fast locking and low-power consumption, is described in this paper. Delay monitor scheme is proposed to achieve the fast locking and inverter is inserted in front of delay line to reduce the power consumption, also. Proposed DLL was fabricated in a 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ 1-poly 3-metal CMOS technology. The proposed delay monitor scheme enables the DLL to lock to the external clock within 4 cycles. The power consumption is 36㎽ with 3V supply voltage at 34MHz clock frequency.
