MoSi$_2$의 초음파에 관한 기초적 연구 (A Study on Ultrasonic for MoSi$_2$)

  • Ultrasonic for MoSi$_2$/Y. C. Kim, C. K. Namkoong/MoSi$_2$in the silicides has excellence in the oxidation and corrosion resistence. When the solid state bonding sintered-MoSi$_2$/metal or the thermal sprayed coating by powder-MoSi$_2$on the metal are carried out, the defects may be occured at the bonded surface. So, the method for evaluating the existence of the defects by non-destructive inspection is strongly desired. Here, the characteristics of ultrasonic for sintered-MoSi$_2$are elucidated and the possibility of the detection of defects using by ultrasonic is investigated.

  • Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process has been widely used to planarize dielectric layers, which can be applied to the integraded circuits for sub-micron technology. Despite the increased use of CMP process, it is difficult to accomplish the global planarization of in the defect-free inter-level dielectrics (ILD). Especially, defects such as micro-scratch lead to severe circuit failure which affect yield. CMP slurries can contain particles exceeding 1㎛ in size, which could cause micro-scratch on the wafer surface. The large particles in these slurries may be caused by particles agglomeration in slurry supply line. To reduce these defects, slurry filtration method has been recommended in oxide CMP. In this work, we have studied the effects of filtration and the defect trend as a function of polished wafer count using various filters in inter-metal dielectrics(IMD)-CMP process. The filter installation in CMP polisher could reduce defects after IMD-CMP process. As a result of micro-scratch formation, it is shown that slurry filter plays an important role in determining consumable pad lifetime. The filter lifetime is dominated by the defects. We have concluded that slurry filter lifetime is fixed by the degree of generating defects.

중자에서 발생한 가스 결함 위치 예측 (Prediction of Positions of Gas Defects Generated from Core)

  • Hydraulic units are important components of agricultural and construction machinery, and thus require high-quality castings. However, gas defects occurring inside the sand cores of the castings due to the resin used is a problem. This study therefore aimed to develop a casting simulation method that can clarify the gas defect positions. Gas defects are thought to be caused by gas generated after the molten metal fills up the mold cavity. The gas constant is the most effective factor for simulating this gas generated from sand cores. It is calculated by gas generating temperature and analysis of composition in the inert gas atmosphere modified according to the mold filling conditions of molten metal. It is assumed that gases generated from the inside of castings remain if the following formula is established. [Time of occurrence of gas generation] + [Time of occurrence of gas floating] > [Time of occurrence of casting surface solidification] The possibility of gas defects is evaluated by the time of occurrence of gas generation and gas floating calculated using the gas constant. The residual position of generated gases is decided by the closed loops indicating the final solidification location in the casting simulation. The above procedure enables us to suggest suitable casting designs with zero gas defects, without the need to repeat casting tests.

다양한 형태의 금속 산화물을 이용한 Pd계 복합 수소분리막의 2원계 중간층 형성에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Formation of Binary Intermediate Layer on Pd-based Hydrogen Separation Membrane Using Various Types of Metal Oxides)

  • 본 연구에서는 복합 수소분리막 중간층의 pin hole, crack 및 defect를 최소화하기 위하여 powder type과 sol type의 금속산화물을 이용하여 복합화하였다. 중간층의 표면 형상과 투과 특성은 주사전자현미경(SEM) 분석과 $N_2$ 투과도 테스트를 통해 평가하였으며, 제조한 수소분리막의 성능평가를 위해 $N_2$$H_2$를 이용하여 단일가스 투과 테스트를 수행하였다. Powder type과 sol type의 금속산화물을 각각 이용하여 중간층을 적층한 결과 sol type 금속산화물을 이용하여 적층한 중간층의 표면 조도가 매우 낮았으며, 특히 $TiO_2$ sol로 형성된 중간층의 pin-hole, crack 및 defect가 현저히 감소하였다. Powder와 sol을 복합화하여 적층한 중간층은 sol로 형성된 중간층과 거의 유사한 특성을 보였으며, 이를 기반으로 제조한 수소분리막은 1 bar의 압력구배, 672 K의 온도에서 약 $0.32mol/m^2s$의 수소 투과도를 나타내었으며, 선택도는 약 10,890 이상으로 측정되었다.

  • The metal forming behavior and defect formation in Ti-6Al-4V tube during hot backward extrusion were investigated. To predict the forming-defects such as shear band, inner cracks or surface cracks, dynamic material model(DMM) including Ziegler's instability criterion and modified Cockcroft-Latham fracture criterion(C-L model) were used. These models were coupled to the internal variables generated from FE analysis. The chilling effect and friction indicated a great influence on the deformation mode of the tube and the formation of surface cracks. The simulation results for the backward extrusion were compared with the experimental observations.

용접부의 선삭특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Turning Property of Welded Material)

  • Turning property of metal is affected by the cutting condition, tool geome- try and cutting material. But the turning property of welded material is not welknown. Welded structures usually contain nonhomogeneity, defects and resi- dual stresses due to differential contraction between welded metal and base metal. In this paper, authors conducted the experimental test on the turning property, by changing turning condition and welding electrodes of the welded specimens. The results obtained in these experimental tests are as follows; (1) Within the limit of this experimental test, the cutting force of the weld zone is bigger than that of base metal, and this phenomena is caused by the different mechanical property of the weld zone. The range of the variation of cutting force in the weld zone is caused by the nonhomogeneity of the weld zone, respectively. (2) The surface roughness follows the general characteristic of the effect of cutting condition on the surface roughness and the surface roughness of the weld zone shows coarse surface comparing with that of the base metal. (3) The specimen welded by the electrode E4301, shows worse cutting property than that of E4361 and E4313.

  • Scale defects generated on the strip surface in a tandem finishing mill line are collected from the strip trapped among the production mills by freezing the growing scale on the strip by the melt glass coating and shutting down the line simultaneously. The samples observed of its cross sectional figure showed the process of scale defect formation where the defects are formed at the base metal surface by thicker oxidized scale during each rolling passes. The properties of the oxidized layer growth both at rolling and inter-rolling are detected down sized rolling test simulating carefully the rolling condition of the production line. The thickness of the oxidized layer at each rolling pass are simulated numerically. The critical scale thickness to avoid the defect formation is determined through the expression of mutual relation between oxidized layer thickness and the lanks of the strip called quality for the scale defects. The scale growth of scale less than the critical thickness and also to keep the bulk temperature tuning the water flow rate and cooling time appropriately. Two units of Inerstand Cooler are designed and settled among the first three stands in the production line. Two units of scale defect is counted from the recoiled strip and the results showed distinct decrease of the defects comparing to the conventionaly rolled products.

내열 금형강 DED 금속적층재의 조직, 결함 및 기계적 물성 평가 (Microstructure, Defects and Mechanical Properties of DED Metal Deposited Heat-Resistant Mold Steel)

  • Directed energy deposition (DED) was adopted as a metal additive manufacturing method to develop a mold for the hot stamping process. The test piece was machined from Heatvar laminate material, and results were obtained through microstructure and defect observations, as well as hardness, tensile strength, and joint strength tests. 1) Spherical pores and irregular-shaped cavities were observed as lamination defects, and columnar dendrites formed in the structure, which tended to become coarse upon heat treatment. 2) The hardness of the heat-treated material (480HV) was slightly lower than that of the non-heat-treated material (500HV). 3) In the tensile test, the maximum tensile stress and strain of the heat-treated material were 1392 MPa and 15%, respectively, which were slightly higher than the values of 1381 MPa and 13%, respectively, for the non-heat-treated material. 4) In the case of the early final fracture in the tensile test, in most cases, pores or irregularly shaped cavities were observed at the fracture surface or near the surface. 5) In the joint strength test, most of the specimens finally fractured in the laminated metal area, and the fracture surface was intragranular. In addition, dimples formed over the entire area on the fracture surface of the fractured specimen after sufficient elongation.

EfficientNetV2 및 YOLOv5를 사용한 금속 표면 결함 검출 및 분류 (Metal Surface Defect Detection and Classification using EfficientNetV2 and YOLOv5)

  • 철강 표면 결함의 검출 및 분류는 철강 산업의 제품 품질 관리에 중요하다. 그러나 정확도가 낮고 속도가 느리기 때문에 기존 방식은 생산 라인에서 효과적으로 사용할 수 없다. 현재 널리 사용되는 알고리즘(딥러닝 기반)은 정확도 문제가 있으며 아직 개발의 여지가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이미지 분류를 위한 EfficientNetV2와 물체 검출기로 YOLOv5를 결합한 강철 표면 결함 검출 방법을 제안한다. 이 모델의 장점은 훈련 시간이 짧고 정확도가 높다는 것이다. 먼저 EfficientNetV2 모델에 입력되는 이미지는 결함 클래스를 분류하고 결함이 있을 확률을 예측한다. 결함이 있을 확률이 0.3보다 작으면 알고리즘은 결함이 없는 샘플로 인식한다. 그렇지 않으면 샘플이 YOLOv5에 추가로 입력되어 금속 표면의 결함 감지 프로세스를 수행한다. 실험에 따르면 제안된 모델은 NEU 데이터 세트에서 98.3%의 정확도로 우수한 성능을 보였고, 동시에 평균 훈련 속도는 다른 모델보다 단축된 것으로 나타났다.

Metal CMP 세정 공정에서 DHF 적용에 관한 연구 (Investigation on DHF Application at Metal CMP Cleaning Process)

  • In this study, we evaluated the dilute HF cleaning to reduce residual defects made by metal CMP process. The purpose of this test is to observe the existence of barrier metal damage during DHF cleaning on condition that it should not affect metal thin film reliability, so we will get rid of slurry residual particles as a main defect of the metal CMP process for the better yield. In-line defect data showed us that slurry residual particles were removed by DHF application. The HF rinse significantly reduced metal contamination levels and surface roughness. The best effect by additional oxide loss was discovered when Dilute HF condition is 10".
