The preparation of polynuclear metal dendritic molecule for photodynamic diagnosis(PDD) or photodynamic therapy(PDT) has been interested on design and synthesis of metal-to-metal long ranged macromolecule. Herein, imine bond or amide bond as chemical bond is an important role on the construction of energy transfer or electron transfer system. Therefore, we will be presented on the role of chemical bond for the preparation of polynuclear metal dendritic molecule.
The interstitial hydrogen bonding in NiTi solid and its effect on the metal-to-metal bond is investigated by means of the EH tight-binding method. Electronic structures of octahedral clusters $Ti_4Ni_2$ with and without hydrogen in their centers are also calculated using the cluster model. The metal d states that interact with H 1s are mainly metal-metal bonding. The metal-metal bond strength is diminished as the new metal-hydrogen bond is formed. The causes of this bond weakening are analyzed in detail.
This study done to evaluate some surface treatment methods in metal coping which can increase the bond strength between porcelain and metal. Therefore this experiment was performed according to the Mc Lean's Theory of bond strength between porcelain and strength between porcelain and metal. In the experiment the author measured respective thermal expansion coefficents in three types of metal(Tallasium, Vera Bond and Rexillium) and Vita Porcelain to get the differences in the coefficents between porcelain and metals. And using insteron testing machine, the author also performed Planar interface shear bond tests on the 45 specimens(15 specimens in oxide surface, rough surface and fine surface treatment methods respectively) to measure bond strength between metal and porcelain. The results Were as follows, 1. The differences in thermal expansion coefficients between three types of metal and Vita procelain: Talladium - $1.2\;10^{-6/0}\;C$, Vera Bond - $1.6\;10^{-6/0}\;C$, Rexillium - $1.9\;10^{-6/0}\;C$. 2. The bond strength in oxide surface on the Shear bond test was the lowest among the treatment methods. 3. There was no significant differences in treatment methods of rough surface of fine surface. 4. In the oxide surface treatment method, there were significant differences(P<0.05)between Vera bond and Rexillium, and between Talladium and Rexillium. 5. In the fine surface treatment, there was a significant difference(P<0.05)between Talladium and Rexillium.
Purpose: Recently, various metal primers have been developed, and these are known to increase the bond strength between metal and relining resin. In this study, the change in bond strength according to amount of thermocycling was evaluated. Materials and Methods: In this study, 216 specimens were fabricated. Tokuyama Rebase $II^{(R)}$(Tokuyama Corp., Japan) and $Kooliner^{(R)}$(GC America Inc., Japan) as relining material, and MR. $Bond^{(R)}$(Tokuyama Corp., Japan) and Alloy $Primer^{(R)}$(Kuraray Medical Inc., Japan) as a metal primers were used. Using Ni-Cr and various metal surface treatment methods, resin was bonded and the change in bond strength during thermocycling was measured. The data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA, t-test(p<.05 level of significance). Results: When comparing the groups with only sandblasting, rapid decrease in shear bond strength could be seen. In the groups using Tokuyama Rebase $II^{(R)}$, with the exception of the 1000 and 2000 cycle groups, each group showed statistically significant decrease in shear bond strength(p<0.05). In comparison according to relining materials, $Kooliner^{(R)}$ showed higher shear bond strength than Tokuyama Rebase $II^{(R)}$ in all groups. In groups using MR $bond^{(R)}$, $Kooliner^{(R)}$ had higher shear bond strength than Tokuyama Rebase $II^{(R)}$ but, there was no statistical significance(p<0.05). In the other groups, $Kooliner^{(R)}$ showed significantly higher shear bond strength(p<0.05). There was significant difference between groups with sandblasting and metal primer treatments(p<0.05). In comparison according to metal primer materials, Alloy $Primer^{(R)}$ showed the highest shear bond strength but there was no statistical significance(p>0.05). According to the number of thermocycling cycles, when using Tokuyama Rebase $II^{(R)}$, there were no significant differences between the 0, 1000 and 2000 cycle groups regardless of the type of metal primer. There were no differences between the 2000 and 3000 cycle groups. When using $Kooliner^{(R)}$, regardless of the type of metal primer, there were no significant differences between the 0, 1000, 2000 and 3000 cycle groups(p>0.05). Conclusion: The use of metal primers showed increase in bond strength, and the stability after to thermocycling has been authenticated. Thus, the use of metal primers in relining and rebasing of metal frameworks is essential. But when selecting the material various physical properties should be considered.
In dental prosthetics, the application of metal-ceramic restorations has steadily increased since their introduction. This is due to excellent esthetics in combination with high mechanical stability. In order to optimum bond strength between metal and ceramics, controlled oxidation of metal substructure is essential factor. Beryllium containing and beryllium free Ni-Cr alloys for metal-ceramic restorations were evaluated for the metal-ceramic bond strength by changing heat treatment for oxide formation. A mechanical three-point bending test was employed to evaluate the interfacial bond strength of metal-ceramic. In each metal, plate type specimens were used for mechanical three-point bending test. With Ni-Cr alloys for metal ceramics, mechanical three-point bending test showed that double degassing was more available preheat treatment method than another. It was found that beryllium containing Ni-Cr alloys are more effective than beryllium-free for metal-ceramic bond strength.
The Purpose of this study was to investigate the chemically improvement of metal-ceramics bond strength in the course of recasting Ni-Cr metal composite system with 10wt.%, 20wt.% and 30wt.% aluminum respectively. We have tested the bond strength, micro-structure, chemical composition of each metal composites and metal- ceramic bond interfaces by 3-point bending strength tester, SEM and EDS. We have made the conclusions through this study as follow: 1. The most suitable amount of aluminum to the Ni-Cr metal composite recasting is 20wt. % for improving metal-ceramics bond strength with debonding strength value of 49.54 kgf/mm2. 2. The aluminum must be changed to small spread alumina like phases and second aluminum-metal composites phases in the morphology of Ni-Cr metal composite system by adding during it's casting. These second phases have inclined functional oxide phases mixed with metal elements and they must take roll to improvement of metal-ceramics bond strength. 3. In the case of 30wt.% aluminum appended to Ni-Cr metal composite system, an excess of second inclined functional oxide phases produce cracks and spalling of them apart from it's base material. It must be a important factor of reduction of metal-ceramics bond strength.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate bond strength of Metal Disk alloy and casting alloy. Methods: Metal specimens were divided into 4 groups for each alloy. Three point flexural test were used to measure the bond strength of CAD/CAM metal alloy and casting alloy. Statistical analysis was done using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 19.0 for Windows. As for the analysis methods, the study used Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The average bonding strengths of Group 1 to porcelain was $36.7{\pm}9.90$ MPa, Group 2 to porcelain was $37.68{\pm}4.51$ MPa, Group 3 to porcelain was $36.43{\pm}6.57$ MPa, Group 4 to porcelain was $42.88{\pm}6.81$ MPa, Each group was not significantly different. Conclusion: Bond strength of Casting alloy is equal to or higher than bond strength of CAD/CAM Metal Disk alloy. Alloy clinical bond strength is 25 MPa, So CAD/CAM Metal Disk alloy can be used as dental material.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of two metal adhesive primers on the shear bond strengths of self-curing resin to Ni-Cr a]toy and the effects of 1000 thermal cycling on the durability of the bond. The two selected metal adhesive primers were Metal Primer II(G-C corp., Japan) and MR Bond(Tokuyama corp., Japan) and no treatment groups were used as control. All specimens were divided into two groups according to thermal cycling. In the group without thermal cycling, the specimens were stored in water for 24 hours. In the group with thermal cycling, the specimens were thermocycled 1000 times at temperature of $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$. Shear bond strengths were measured using the Universal testing machine(Zwick 145641, Germany) with a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The results were as follows: 1. MR Bond significantly improved the shear bond strength of resin to Ni-Cr alloy before and after thermal cycling. 2. There were no difference in the shear bond strength of resin to Ni-Cr alloy between Metal Primer II treated group and no treatment group. 3. Regardless of the type and the use of adhesive primers, there were tendency of decrease in shear bond strength with 1000 thermal cycling.

For the experiment, seventy metal specimens were cast with Verabond and divided into I, II, III, groups. The metal specimens in group I were electrolytically etched and cemented with Panavia under finger pressure. Cement film thickness was regulated with metal spacers. The metal specimens in Group II were treated by 4 methods, such as electrolytic etching method, salt-roughened method, EZ-oxisor method , chemical etching method and cemented with Panavia. In group III, electrolytically etched metal specimens were cemented with Hy-Bond. The etched surface of metal specimens and the cement film thickness were examined under the scanning electron microscope. Results were as follows; 1. The tensile bond strength showed no significant difference between $30{\mu}m,\;80{\mu}m,\;130{\mu}m$ film thicknessspecimens. 2. There was no significant difference in the tensile bond strength between the 4 differently treated metal specimens. 3. The tensile bond strength showed significant difference between Panavia and Hy-Bond. 4. Scanning electron microscope photograph revealed that tile interdendritic eutectic was removed in electrolytically etched metal surfaces hilt even dendritic arm was removed in Chemically etched metal surfaces. 5. The metal surfaces which were air-abraded with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide showed roughness and small crack on scanning electron microscope photograph.
