Recycling demolished concrete as an alternative source of coarse aggregates for the production of new concrete can help solve the growing waste disposal crisis and the problem of depleted natural aggregates. The purpose of this study is to investigate chloride migration of recycled aggregate concrete containing pozzolanic materials by chloride migration coefficient. The specimens were made with recycled coarse aggregate as various replacement ratio(10, 30, 50%) and metakaolin, blast furnace slag, fly ash is replaced for recycled concrete with mixing ratio 20%. The major results are as follows. 1) Compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete containing pozzolanic materials increase as curing age and chloride migration decrease. 2) When the replacement ratio of recycled coarse aggregate is 30%, the chloride migration coefficient of recycled concrete containing blast furnace slag, metakaolin shows the similar or lower value than plain concrete at all ages.

According to the high demand of concrete structures with high performance, various studies have examined on the high performance concrete, especially high strength concrete. Various admixtures are required to produce high strength concrete and silica fume has been the most popular admixture. Recently, however, metakaolin, which is similar to silica fume in properties but cheaper, has been introduced to high strength concrete. In this study, high-strength concrete using metakaolin were studied of capillary pore structure by mercury intrusion porosimetry technique and the accelerated chloride diffusivity by electrical difference. In result, it was found that the pore structure improved and compressive strength increased and chloride diffusivity reduced as more metakaolin content was added. In addition, a regression analysis of $5{\sim}2,000nm$ pore volume and both compression strength and chloride diffusivity revealed that each these had a high correlation of about 0.76 and 0.68.

The purpose of this research was to evaluate on the properties of fresh and hardened high-performance concrete(HPC) incorporating high-reactivity metakaolin(HRM). Setting time, heat of hydration, compressive strength, resistance to chloride-ion penetration, and repeated freezing and thawing test were carried out in order to investigate the properties of fresh and hardened state concrete. The properties of the HRM concrete were also compared with those of the portland cement concrete and silica fume(SF) concrete. The laboratory test results indicate that HRM material can be used as a supplementary cementitious material to produce high-performance concrete.
The mechanical properties of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (SFRHSC) made with binary and ternary blends of metakaolin (MK) and ground pumice (GP) are investigated in this study. The investigated properties are ultrasonic pulse velocity ($U_{pv}$), compressive strength ($f_c$), flexural strength ($f_f$) and splitting tensile strength ($f_{st}$) of SFRHSC. A total of 16 steel fiber reinforced concrete mixtures were produced by a total binder content of $500kg/m^3$ for determining the effects of MK and GP on the mechanical properties. The design $f_c$ was acquired from 70 to 100 MPa by using a low water-binder ratio of 0.2. The test results exhibit that high strength concrete can be obtained by replacing the cement with MK and GP. Besides, correlations between these results are executed for comprehending the relationship between mechanical properties of SFRHSC and the strong correlations are observed between these properties. Moreover, two models in the gene expression programming (GEP) for predicting the $f_c$ of SFRHSC made with binary and ternary blends of MK and GP have been developed. The results obtained from these models are compared with the experimental results. These comparisons proved that the results of equations obtained from these models seem to agree with the experimental results.
This study was to draw a retentive concrete pavement that can reduce urban heat island which has become intensified according to the increase of buildings and paved roads. It used bottom ash, an industrial by-product that has retentive effect, as a replacement of fine aggregate. Meanwhile, in order to improve the decline of dynamic performance caused by bottom ash replacement, we manufactured specimen that metakaolin was added and we studied the characteristics of durable, ecological and retentive concrete through various experiments.

In this paper, surrogate models such as multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) and M5P model tree (M5P MT) methods have been investigated in order to propose a new formulation for the 28-days compressive strength of self-compacting concrete (SCC) incorporating metakaolin as a supplementary cementitious materials. A database comprising experimental data has been assembled from several published papers in the literature and the data have been used for training and testing. In particular, the data are arranged in a format of seven input parameters covering contents of cement, coarse aggregate to fine aggregate ratio, water, metakaolin, super plasticizer, largest maximum size and binder as well as one output parameter, which is the 28-days compressive strength. The efficiency of the proposed techniques has been demonstrated by means of certain statistical criteria. The findings have been compared to experimental results and their comparisons shows that the MARS and M5P MT approaches predict the compressive strength of SCC incorporating metakaolin with great precision. The performed sensitivity analysis to assign effective parameters on 28-days compressive strength indicates that cementitious binder content is the most effective variable in the mixture.

The requirement for durability of concrete is increasing recently as a large-scale concrete structure is built. For this reason, the concern about high-durable concrete is being high. Recently, metakaoline to be profitable in economical aspect as well as to have strength and durability of level similar to silica fume is evaluated highly as new admixture. In this study, the scaling, the drying shrinkage, the chloride resistance and the air-void structure are compared for both metakaolin and silica fume concrete. According to the results, the replacement of metakaoline improved the resistance of chloride penetration, freezing and thawing in concrete. On the other hand, as metakaolin was replaced to 10%, it was similar level with OPC in the property of scaling. It was showed that replacement of only metakaoline was similar with OPC in the drying shrinkage. However, MS5 reduced the drying shrinkage about 10%. In conclusion, replacement of the metakaoline 10% is the most excellent performance in terms of durability of concrete.
Much energy is consumed up when making a concrete. And especially, because lots of $CO_2$ is discharged for combination material, cement, we are making efforts in order to get lid of this negative thought. Recently, much interest is given to manufacturing eco concrete which is environment friendly and its' application. We should study manufacturing of the concrete whose environment friendly performance should be improved as consistent development concept in order for various approaches to be settled down our country such as lowering of environmental load, utilization of industry wastes and improvement of environment related performance. This study inquired into utilization possibility through from various tests results after manufacturing eco type mixed concrete whose purpose is to lower environmental load in which cement and aggregates can be replaced with metakaolin which is natural material and copper slag which is industry by product.

This study inhence the strength of concrete by using domestic low grade kaolin. In conclusion, we confirmed to inhence the strength of concrete when added the low grade kaolin(heated in $800^{\circ}C$) about 10%.
The bonding efficacy of steel I-section embedded in metakaolin-fly ash-based geopolymer concrete (MK-FA-GC) was investigated in this study. Push-out tests were conducted on nine column specimens to evaluate the influence of compressive strength of concrete, embedded length of steel I-section, thickness of concrete cover, and stirrup ratio on the bond performance. Failure patterns, load-slip relationships, bond strength, and distribution of bond stress among the specimens were analyzed. The characteristic bond strength of geopolymer concrete (GC) increased with higher compressive strength, longer embedded steel section length, thicker concrete cover, and larger stirrup ratio. Empirical formulas for bond strength at the loading end were derived based on experimental data and a bond-slip constructive model for steel-reinforced MK-FA-GC was proposed. The calculated bond-slip curves showed good agreement with experimental results. Furthermore, numerical simulations using ABAQUS software were performed on column specimens by incorporating the suggested bond-slip relationship into connector elements to simulate the interface behavior between MK-FA-GC and the steel section. The simulation results showed a good correlation with the experimental findings.
