As evidenced through rapidly growing digital repositories and web resources, automatic metadata generation is becoming ever more critical, especially considering the costly and complex operation of manual metadata creation. Also, automatic metadata generation is apt to consistent metadata application. In this sense, metadata quality and interoperability can be enhanced by utilizing a mechanism for automatic metadata generation. In this article, a mechanism of automatic metadata extraction called ExMETA is introduced in order to alleviate issues dealing with inconsistent metadata application and semantic interoperability across ever-growing digital collections. Conceptual graph, one of formal languages that represent the meanings of natural language sentences, is utilized for ExMETA as a mediation mechanism that enhances the metadata quality by disambiguating semantic ambiguities caused by isolation of a metadata element and its corresponding definition from the relevant context. Hence, automatic metadata generation by using ExMETA can be a good way of enhancing metadata quality and semantic interoperability.

Recently many organizations have attempted to build hypermedia systems to expand their working areas to internet-based virtual work places. It is thus important to manage corporate hypermedia documents effectively. Metadata play a critical role for managing these documents. This paper identifies metadata roles and components to build its schema. Furthermore a meta-information system HyDoMiS(Hyperdocument Meta-information System) is proposed by the use of this metadata schema. HyDoMiS performs three functions; metadata management search and reporting The metadata management function is concerned with workflow document and database. The system is more likely to help implement and maintsain hypermedia information system effectively.

This paper proposes a search system using the topic maps that it extends XMDR into Knowledge based XMDR for solving of the problems of the heterogeneity of distributed data on a network and integrate data by an efficient way. The proposed system combined Topic Maps and the extended metadata registry effectively. The Topic Maps represent related knowledge and reasoning relationship by associations of topic. And the extended metadata registry standards and manages the metadata of the local systems through registration and certification on the distributed environment. We also proposed a meta layer, include the meta topic and meta association to achieve semantic classification grouping of topics and to define relationship between Topic Maps and extended metadata registry.

본 논문은 레거시를 통합 검색하기 위한 방안으로 XMDR을 확장하는 방안을 제안한다. 이러한 확장은 메타데이터의 관리를 위한 메타 시멘틱 온톨로지, 위치 정보를 위한 메타 로케이션, 그리고 시멘틱 웹을 표현하기 위한 표준 언어인 토픽맵을 결합한다. 본 논문에서는 이것을 TMDR(Topic Map MetaData Registry)이라 한다. 토픽맵은 지식계층으로 인덱스와 같은 역할을 수행한다. 그러나 토픽맵은 데이터의 변화가 빈번한 경우에는 효율이 떨어질 수 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 시스템은 메타 데이터 사이의 관계, 실제 데이터 사이의 관계 그리고 메타데이터와 실제 데이터 사이의 관계를 토픽맵으로 표현한다. 표현된 토픽맵은 메타 데이터 간의 관계로 인해 실제 데이터간의 관계 변화를 줄이는 방안을 제시한다.

본 연구는 SCORM 기반 학습 객체의 메타데이타 생성 즉 Asset, SCO, Contents Aggregation과 Contents Package에 대한 메타데이터를 생성하는 시스템(MetaGene)을 개발한다. SCORM 을 지원하는 LMS내 API 어댑터와 인터페이스를 위한 학습 객체 내에 API 활성화 함수를 내장시키고, 데이터 모델을 기반으로 학습 과정을 트래킹 하는 코드도 포함 시킨다. 또한 학습 객체들이 LMS에 전송되게 PIF(Package Interchange File)로 패키징 시킨다. MetaGene에 생성된 학습객체의 메타데이터와 컨텐츠 패키지의 manifest file을 $SCORM^{(TM)}$ Conformance Testsuite을 이용하여 유효성을 검증한다.

해양 전자정보자원 메타 데이터베이스 시스템 설계 및 구현을 위해 국내외 관련 연구를 조사하고 분석하였다. 연구대상은 해양분야 웹 자원에서 해양조사자료가지를 범위로 하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 네트워크 자원의 기술에 적합한 더블린코어를 기반으로 효율적인 해양분야 전자정보자원 정보검색서비스를 제공하는데 있다. 본 논문에서는 해양분야 전자정보원 조사, 메타데이터 기술요소 분석, 베타데이터 분류체계, 시스템 구성 및 검색 구현방안의 연구를 수행하였다.

현재 데이터 통합을 위한 다양한 방법이 연구되고 있다. 연구된 통합 방법들 중 메타데이터저장소를 이용하는 방안과 데이터 간의 관계성을 파악한 토픽맵이 있다. 본 논문은 메타데이터와 토픽맵 기술을 적용하여 검색 키워드에 대한 토픽맵 생성을 위한 메타-토픽맵을 제안하고, 메타-토픽맵과 레거시 시스템의 메타데이터를 연계하기 위한 방안으로 XMDR을 제안한다. 메타-토픽맵은 레거시 시스템에서 키워드에 대한 의미적 연관성을 고려하여 토픽맵 형식을 제공하여 키워드에 대한 토픽맵을 생성한다. XMDR은 레거시 시스템의 메타데이터 간의 이질성을 해결하여 구조적 통합을 수행한다. 제안된 시스템은 레거시 시스템에 구축된 기존의 관계데이터베이스간의 상호운용과 검색 효율을 높이고, 시스템 확장에 효율적이다.

여러 소스에 출현하는 관측분야의 과학데이터가 OpenURL 서비스 아키텍처에서 원활하게 유통되도록 하기 위해, OpenURL 소스와 서비스 구성요소간 상호운용성 확보를 할 수 있도록 Key/Encoded-Value(KEV) 형식으로 OpenURL 핵심 메타태그를 제안하였다. 현재의 OpenURL은 문헌위주의 학술정보 유통에 그 초점이 맞추어져 있으며, 과학데이터 유통을 위한 메타태그는 제공하지 못하고 있다. 과학데이터 기술을 위한 DataCite 컨소시엄의 메타데이터 요소를 기준으로 하고, 더블린 코어의 핵심 메타데이터 요소, 데이터세트와 테이블을 인용하기 위해 OECD에서 만든 메타데이터 요소, 지구관측 분야의 메타데이터 표준인 DIF 메타데이터 요소를 비교, 분석하여 관측분야의 과학데이터를 위한 OpenURL 핵심 메타태그를 도출하였다.

Recently, many organizations have attempted to construct hypermedia systems to expand their working areas to Internet-based virtual work places. For the effective management of the hypermedia application, it is important to develop a technique for managing hypermedia documents, hyperdocuments. This paper employs metadata as it has been conceived as a key approach in document management. Hence, this paper proposes a meta-information system based on metadata, HyDoMIS, for the purpose of hyperdocument manage-ment. This system contains a repository for hyper-documents, which is based on metadata schema and classification. HyDoMIS performs functions such as metadata management, searching and reporting.
