This study was performed to investigate the flow behavior of fresh concrete. strength properties, and durability properties on the chloride penetration resistance of hardened concrete containing Meta-Kaolin(MK) in the range from common strength to high strength to facilitate the use. The results are compared with properties of concrete containing Si1ca Fume(SF). As a result. superplasticizer required in MK concrete was decreased by 8-28% compared to SF concrete with the same slump, but MK concrete became more sticky than SF concrete. It was also found that considering the strength, the optimal cement replacement ratio of MK was 15%, and MK had concrete durable and dense by decreasing the average pore diameter of concrete.
Recently, research on geopolymeric concrete that does not use cement as a binder has been actively investigated. Geopolymeric concrete is cement-free concrete. Masato, ocher and/or soil has been solidified into geopolymeric concrete by the reaction of specifically modified silicate as an alkali activator and inorganic binding materials such as blast furnace slag, fly ash or meta-kaolin, which is cured at room temperature to exhibit high compressive strengths. Based on the results, this study shows how geopolymeric concrete that uses specifically modified silicate and inorganic binding materials is implemented as eco-cement with no cement.
The purpose of this dissertation was to investigate the effect of mineral admixtures, such as fly ash, blast furnace slag powder, meta kaolin and silica fume, on the basic properties and durability of crushed sand shotcrete, selecting a series of shotcrete mixtures with a variable admixture. Compressive strength increased as the content of mineral admixtures increased, specially it was the most effective when using meta kaolin both at sample specimen and core after shotcreting. Rapid chloride ion permeability test and sulfuric acid resistance test showed that both durability increased as the substitute rate of mineral admixture increased. In air void analysis with image analysis, the targeted the spacing factor and specific surface were not satisfied because air-entrained agent was not used.

The degradation of the concrete due to deterioration factors, such as corrosion of steel bars, cracks and structural strength of reinforced concrete structures, is a social problem. Especially, concrete structures constructed in seawater, underground water, waste water treatment facilities and sewerage are subject to chemical attack by acid and sulphate. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare sulfated glass and fine aggregate of slag using waste glass fine powder and meta kaolin. The results showed that the slag fine aggregate showed better sulfate resistance than the river sand, and the fine powder of waste glass showed the best performance at 3 % displacement.
The material used in this experiment is Ha-Dong kaolin whichis composed of almost crystallographically pure meta-halloysite. It was grinded and passed through 250 mesh and 325 mesh. It was treated with oxalic acids and EDTA which are different in concentration. The samples in conical beaker were kept in laboratory incubator at $25^{\circ}C$ for a certain hours. The treated samples were stirred twice a day. The sample in the conditions as A-7 was kept in an autoclave under the pressure of 3 atmospheric. The samples suspended in each solution were kept for 1.5, 3 and 6 months. The transformation of crystals was detected by X-ray spectrometer, electron microscopy, and infrared spectrometer. The sample through 325 mesh compared with one through 250 mesh was transformed much more. It took for 6 months to transfer from halloysite to kaolinite in EDTA, and 3~4 months under 3 atms in autoclave at the same condition. In oxalic acids it took more than 6 months.
Various kaolin samples with different alumina content were prepared from calcined admixture of kaolin and ammonium sulfate by varying the treatment time in sulfuric acid. Samples were nitridated under N2 or N2-H2 atmosphere with changing the amount of added carbon, the reaction time and temperature. As the alumina content lowered, the size of kaolin particles decreased and the specific surface area increased. XRD analysis indicated that ${\alpha}$-quartz remained by decomposition of halloysite and meta-halloysite. Experimental results of nitridation behavior are summerized as follows; 1) Nitridation under N2 atmosphere. With the increase of C/SiO2 ratio and with the decrease of Al2O3 content, disappearance of XRD pattern peaks of mullite, ${\alpha}$-quartz and ${\alpha}$-Al2O3 were accelerated at 1300$^{\circ}C$. SiC was the main phase in the reaction product of acid-treated kaolin samples nitridated at 1300$^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours regardless of C/SiO2 ratio. But the XRD peak intensities of ${\beta}$-Si3N4, ${\beta}$-sialon and SiC did not show much difference when untreated raw kaolin was fired at the same condition. When the ratio of C/SiO2 was 3.5, ${\beta}$-sialon and ${\beta}$-Si3N4 existed in the reaction product of about 22% alumina containing kaolin sample fired at 1350$^{\circ}C$ for 7 hours. Only ${\beta}$-sialon existed in the same sample fired at 1400$^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours. ${\beta}$-sialon was obtained from all of the acid-treated kaolin samples fired at 1400$^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours, but AlN and SiC remained in the untreated kaolin sample. Z value of the ${\beta}$-sialon obtained from the 22% alumina containing kaolin sample fired at 1400$^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours was about 1.3(XRD) and 1.5(EDS). 2) Nitridation under 80N2+2OH2 mixed gas atmosphere with the C/SiO2 ratio of 1 Mullite was not found, but ${\alpha}$-Si3N4, and ${\beta}$-sialon were present in the reaction product of about 22% alumina containing kaolin sample fired at 1300$^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours. When untreated kaolin sample was nitridated at the same condition, mullite remained. AlN and SiC were not found in the reaction product of about 22% alumina containing kaolin sample fired at 1350$^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours. On the other hand, AlN and SiC remained in the product of untreated kaolin fired at the same condition.
Meta-kaolin (MK) and blast furnace slag (BS) were used as raw materials with NaOH and sodium silicate as alkali activators for making geo-polymers. The compressive strength with respect to the various pre-curing conditions was investigated. In order to improve the recycling rate of BS while still obtaining high compressive strength of the geo-polymers, it was necessary to provide additional CaO to the MK by adding BS. The specimens containing greater amounts of BS can be applied to fields that require high initial compressive strength. Alkali activator(s) are inevitably required to make geo-polymers useful. High temperature pre-curing plays an important role in improving compressive strength in geo-polymers at the early stage of curing. On the other hand, long-term curing produced little to no positive effects and may have even worsened the compressive strength of the geo-polymers because of micro-structural defects through volume expansion by high temperature pre-curing. Therefore, a pre-curing process at a medium range temperature of $50^{\circ}C$ is recommended because a continuous increase in compressive strength during the entire curing period as well as good compressive strength at the early stages can be obtained.

Autoclaved lightweight concrete (ALC), also known as autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC), is a lightweight, precast building material that simultaneously provides structure, insulation. ALC is a unique building material. Because of its cellular nature, it is lightweight, self-insulating, as well as sound and fireproof. ALC products include blocks, wall panels, floor and roof panels, and lintels. Recently, the use of ALC has became increasingly popular. However, ALC have high water absorption, low compressive strength and popout the origin of the low surface strength in its properties. Thus, this study is to improve the fundamental strength by controls of increasing of admixtures and chemical reactants. Admixtures make use of meta kaolin and silica fume, chemical reactants make use of sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide. From the test result, the ALC using admixtures and chemical reactants have a good fundamental properties compared with plain ALC. These good fundamental properties is caused by the admixtures and chemical reactants of ALC by the reason of the micro filling effect and chemical binding of C-S-H gel, tobermolite and quartz.

In this study, the experiment was carried out to investigate and analyze the strenth properties and flowability of ultra-high strength concrete accroding to types of mineral admixtures. The main experimental variables were water/binder ratio 25.0, 27.5 and 30.0$\%$, water content 155, 160, 165, and 170kg/$m^{3}$ and mineral admixtures such as fly ash, silica fume and meta kaolin. According to the test results, the principle conclusions are summarized as follows. 1) In case of using admixtures, superplasticizer amount need more than plain concrete. 2) According to kinds of admixtures, the viscosity of concrete show much difference. 3) The compressive strength of concrete that use admixtures becomes low in early-age strength, but appeared by higher than plain concrete in long-term strength. 4) Meta kaolin is excellent in side but has viscosity enlargement efficiency a little. But, problem estimates that is not to make design strength 600 and 700kgf/$cm^{2}$ if use mixing condition with water-binder ratio properly.
Thermal behavior of dickite was studied by thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, electron microprobe analysis, and scanning electron microscopy, Dickite has an endothermic peak at about$ 650^{\circ}C$ and an exothermic one at $960^{\circ}C$ in the differential thermal analysis. The endothermic reaction is assigned to the decomposition of dickite to meta-dickite. Hydroxyl radicals are removed from dickite structure by the reaction, resulting in the weight loss about 10.5~14.5% and appearance of a 14$\AA$ phase different from other kaolin minerals. The reaction slowly proceed in the range of $200^{\circ}C$. As the completion of decomposition, aciclular mullite forms at the expense of meta-dickite plates with random crystallographic relationship. Mullites have diverse silica versus alumina ratio. The exothermic reaction without weight loss seems to be due to the formation of spinel and amorphous silica. The spinel phase shows cryptocrystalline globular morphology accompanying a little amount of silica. From spinel phase shows cryptocrystalling globular morphology accompanying a little amount of silica. From this work, it is suggested that mullite is formed from meta-dickite much lower temperature than the reported one in the previous works.
