Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand and describe the experiences of patients with Meniere disease. Methods: Data were collected from February 19, 2019, to February 5, 2020, through individual in-depth interviews with 13 Meniere patients. Verbatim transcripts were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis. Results: The experiences of patients with Meniere disease were clustered into the following four themes from 22 meaning units: 1) Complex unfamiliar symptoms that shatter both balance of the body and peace of the heart; 2) A disease that medical treatment and health professionals cannot cure; 3) Suffering hardships that cannot be understood by non-Meniere sufferers; and 4) Making daily efforts to become healthier. Symptoms of Meniere disease are life-shattering and depressing because they are neither visible nor easily curable. Over time, as they accepted the reality of living with the disease, the participants would shift their focus from complete symptomatic cure to leading a healthy and more balanced life. Conclusion: This study shows that Meniere disease has a pervasive impact on all aspects of the patients' lives. Patients are prone to experiencing restrictions in their social functioning and activities. They also experience psychosocial problems due to the unseen nature of their symptoms. This study elucidates the experiences of Meniere patients and the need for nursing intervention to help improve their quality of life and ability to self-manage. Lastly, this study shows the need for a coordinated interdisciplinary approach to raising public awareness of the disease.

Meniere's disease is a syndrome with characteristic three symptoms(tinnitus, hearing loss and vertigo). The main pathology is imer lymphdropy by various causes. Western therapy consists of a dietary treatment, medication and a operation. But in these days, Meniere's disease is almost incurable. So we experienced one case of Meniere's disease treated with oriental medical treatment as like acupuncture, herbal medication etc. 37 year-old female patient had a diagnosed Meniere's disease by western medical doctor and had been treated for one year. But there has not been effective. After oriental medical Ueatment, Meniere's disease was recoverd at the end of one month.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental demonstration treatment for episodic vertigo of Meniere's disease. Meniere's Disease characterized by recurrent prostrating episodic vertigo, nausea, vomiting, sensory hearing loss, tinnitus, and a feeling of fullness in the ear associated with generalized dilation of the membranous labyrinth (endolymphatic hydrops). The cause of Meniere's disease is unknown, and the pathophysiology is poorly understood. Methods We experienced one case of Meniere's disease treated with Asian medical treatment, acupuncture and herbal medication. 64-year-old female patient was diagnosed with Meniere's disease by western medical doctor. Methods: Saam acupuncture Sojangjungkyuk applied to the patient. Results After treatment her episodic vertigo, nausea, vomiting and endolymphatic hydrops were decreased but the level of tinnitus it was not improved as much as other symptoms. Conclusions Saam Acupuncture of Asian medical treatment could be safe and effective.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze recent research trend on pathology of Meniere's Disease and review the results in Korean Medicine. Methods : We searched MEDLINE on the title "Meniere's Disease" and "pathology" in recent 5 years and searched OASIS with KISS on the title "Meniere's Disease". Results : We found 21 studies on MEDLINE, 9 studies on OASIS and KISS about Meniere's Disease. The results are as follow. 1. In western medicine, the pathology of Meniere's disease is supposed to be related with endolymphatic hydrops and autoimmunity. The causes of endolymphatic hydrops are studied in various viewpoints such as disorder of endolymph drainage and homeostasis abnormality of endolymph. And autoimmunity is assumed to be associated with genetic factor. 2. In Korean medicine, Meniere's disease were mainly treated with acupuncture and hebal medicine. Conclusions : Korean medicinal approaches on pathology of Meneire's disease can be significant in view of endolymphatic hydrops. And on the basis of those outcomes, much more studies have to be researched for Korean medicinal treatment of Meneire's disease.

Meniere's disease is not a life-threatening but lift-altering inner ear disease characterized by episodic vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus and ear fullness. The etiology and pathophysiology symptoms is still disputed. Thereby the treatment of Meniere's disease is empirical. As yet no treatment has prospectively modified the clinical course of condition and thereby prevented the progressive hearing loss. We experienced two cases of Meniere's disease treated with oriental medical treatment, acupuncture and herbal medication. 15 year-old and 23 year old male patients had diagnosed Meniere's disease by western medical doctor. After treatment their vertigo is decreased and the level of hearing loss was rise up. Therefore, oriental medical treatments could be safe and effective methods.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of applying acupuncture to the treatment of meniere's disease, which has no definite treatment methods, by analyzing the latest clinical researches about acupuncture treatment of meniere's disease. Methods : A case study and Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) related to the acupuncture treatment of meniere's disease were searched using domestic and international thesis search engines including OASIS, CNKI, J-STAGE, PubMed. This study include acupuncture treatment and acupuncture combined with other treatments such as herbal medicine. The search was limitied to the publication date from 2000 to 2018 with free full text. Results : 17 cases were selected. There were 7 case studies in Korea, 5 case studies in China, and 5 RCT papers in China. All 12 cases reported improvement in meniere's disease and all RCT studies showed significantly higher treatment effects in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusions : Acupuncture treatment showed significant effects for meniere's disease when applied alone or in combination with other treatments. In the future, various systematic studies should be conducted only for acupuncture treatment.

Meniere's disease is a disorder of the membranous labyrinth that is characterized by vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus and ear fullness. The etiology of Meniere's disease is yet to be described and the management is also very difficult. Fifty-one years old female patient had paroxysm of severe tinnitus and dizziness after medical therapy and surgical intervention during several years. Patient received stellate ganglion block (SGB) and her symptoms were completely relieved. Therefore, SGB could be considered another therapeutic modality for Meniere's disease.

Objectives : This study used a network pharmacology approach to analyze the treatment mechanisms of Yijin-tang on Meniere's disease, and comparative analysis the treatment mechanisms of drugs recommended in the Meniere's disease treatment guidelines. Methods : We collected information on the recommended drugs from the Meniere's disease treatment guidelines and their target proteins were screened via the STITCH database. The intersection targets were obtained through Venny 2.1.0. Gene Ontology(GO) analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) pathway analysis were performed using ClueGO. Results : The 7 proteins(TNF, CASP9, PARP1, CCL2, CFTR, NOS2, NOS1) were associated with both Yijin-tang and Meniere's disease related genes. The 10 proteins(AQP2, KCNE1, AQP1, AVP, ACE, HRH1, HRH3, NOS1, CA1, CFTR) were associated with both the recommended drugs in the guidelines and Meniere's disease related genes. The 2 proteins(CFTR, NOS1) were common across all three groups. Further, GO/KEGG pathway analysis of the collected proteins revealed that the common mechanisms of action between Yijin-tang and the recommended drugs in the guidelines were related to pathways involving immune dysfunction and disturbances in lymphatic fluid homeostasis. In addition, the recommended drugs in the guidelines appeared to act through mechanisms that improve blood flow through vasodilation. Conclusions : Pharmacological network analysis can help to explain the treatment mechanisms of Yijin-tang on Meniere's disease.

We experienced two cases of Meniere's disease treated with herbal medication and acupuncture. 62 year-old male and 64 year-old female patients had definite Meniere's disease. Banhabaeckchulchunma-tang was administered in both cases. After treatment Vertigo attacks were completely controlled in both, whereas Hearing level remained unchanged. Tinnitus was improved in one patient and unchanged in the other. Therefore, Banhabaeckchulchunma-tang and acupuncture could be a safe and simple therapeutic modality that is effective in controlling the vertigo ; however further studies must be done on hearing preservation and tinnitus.

In 1861 Prosper Meniere in a series of five articles described as a clinical entity related to the inner ear, the disease that goes by his name. The authors recently experienced two cases of Meniere's disease which were considered medical failure and we performed surgical operation with endolymphatic sac decompression in one case and Cawthorne's horizontal canal labyrinthectomy in other case.
